Great food and friendly people. We order once a month and look forward to it every time! It's always super hot and fresh. We love the pork egg rolls! The combo specials are loaded with meat. I've always gotten more chicken in my meal than rice, which is never an issue for me haha.

Drove 30 minutes to this place because it had the best reviews for Chinese food near me. When I got home and opened the takeout container, there was a piece of hair, what looked to be on top of my food- and when I attempted to remove it, it was actually wrapped around a piece of chicken…. An extremely long, black strand of hair. Needless to say I was not even able to try the food because I was so disgusted, and it went straight in the garbage! Very careless mistake that could have been avoided with proper sanitary measures, and also a simple visual inspection of the food before they put the lid on the container as it was literally the first thing I saw when I opened it. Won’t ever go back

Service was perfect. Food, super fresh and totally delicious. I had Pad Talay and Leslie had Lime Leaf Grilled Chicken. Both were excellent. Will certainly be back.

My parents love this restaurant and come here often. The food is always good and fresh. The sushi is good quality, the soups are delicious, and they have a lot of good, fresh vegetables in the dishes. The owner is incredibly nice, she knows my parents because they are regulars and she always talks to them when she is around. This is definitely a hidden gem.

Food is amazing here. “Chicken and mushroom hot pot rice” is worth the wait. The flavor is tastefully balanced with ginger, scallions and right amount of sauce, I.e. not too salty. On the other hand, the “sautéed pork strips with spicy sauce” is spicy enough. A perfect dish to have with white rice. I also order 2 dim sum items and they just make them right. Very pleasant experience here.

We had an exceptional experience with this Chinese restaurant! The Chicken Fried Rice and Sesame Chicken were delicious, each dish bursting with flavor, clearly prepared and packaged with great care. We skipped the Fried Chicken and Egg Roll on our second order as we didn't enjoy them the first time—the chicken was burnt, and the egg roll was dry. Although the Sesame Chicken was excellent, it came without rice. Fortunately, we had ordered the Chicken Fried Rice separately. We can't wait to visit in person and enjoy more of their fantastic food. Highly recommend!

Good food at a good price :) the staff were nice and the chef was sweet she brought out a soup for me in only a couple minutes because I realized I forgot to add it to my pickup order when I placed the call. Cute patio seating area out front but there’s actually a decent amount of seating inside too.

Ordered veggie chow mein and got a container of veggies with no noodles, none, how is that even possible?

Tasted so good and was really fresh and amazing . The lady working there was so nice she gave me and my friend free water and free sweet and sour chicken and crab wantons.

If you want fresh and delicious food 💯 this is definitely our go to place in the whole capital district. The owners are sweet and always make our dinners to how our daughter likes it. Definitely, if you have not given them a try, you're going to want to!!!!

If you’re looking for a sushi experience that balances quality, freshness, and innovation with classic preparation, Akira Albany in Glenmont is a restaurant that deserves your attention. Nestled in a quiet part of town, this spot combines a warm, welcoming ambiance with a focus on quality Japanese cuisine, delivering an experience that has quickly made it a local favorite. Let’s start with the sushi, which truly sets Akira Albany apart. One of the first things you’ll notice is the attention to detail in presentation. Each roll arrives at the table with the kind of artful plating you’d expect from a high-end sushi bar, often garnished with fresh herbs or edible flowers that elevate the aesthetic without distracting from the taste. More importantly, the fish is incredibly fresh—a crucial factor that makes all the difference in a sushi dish. You can taste the quality of each slice, whether it’s the buttery richness of salmon, the clean and mild flavor of tuna, or the slightly sweet, delicate snap of scallop. The rice, often overlooked in sushi but essential to the overall flavor, is perfectly seasoned and textured: slightly warm, with a hint of vinegar that complements the fish without overpowering it. Akira Albany offers a wide variety of sushi rolls, from traditional options like the California and Spicy Tuna Rolls to more adventurous fusion rolls featuring unique combinations of ingredients. The specialty rolls are definitely worth exploring for those seeking something beyond the basics. One popular choice is the Dragon Roll, which layers eel and avocado with a drizzle of sweet eel sauce, giving it a smooth, creamy, and slightly smoky flavor profile. There are also vegetarian rolls available, ensuring that there’s something on the menu for everyone, regardless of dietary preference. In addition to sushi, the restaurant also serves an impressive calamari dish that is not to be missed. Calamari can be a tricky appetizer, often ending up overly chewy or overly oily, but Akira Albany manages to strike the right balance. The calamari here is lightly battered and fried to a delicate crisp. The batter doesn’t overwhelm the calamari, allowing its natural flavor to shine through. Inside, each piece is tender, not rubbery—a testament to the kitchen’s skill and commitment to using fresh ingredients. It’s served with a zesty dipping sauce that adds a nice, tangy complement to the mild sweetness of the calamari, creating a combination that keeps you reaching for more. This dish is perfect for sharing, although it’s so good you might find yourself tempted to keep it all to yourself. Service at Akira Albany is also a standout aspect of the dining experience. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive, able to answer questions about the menu and make recommendations based on your preferences. Whether you’re a seasoned sushi aficionado or a newcomer to Japanese cuisine, they’re happy to guide you through the options without any pretentiousness. They strike the right balance between being attentive and giving you space to enjoy your meal, making the experience pleasant and relaxed. The ambiance in the Glenmont location adds to the appeal, with its cozy, modern decor and soft lighting that makes it an ideal spot for anything from a casual meal to a date night. The restaurant doesn’t get overly noisy, so conversation is easy even when it’s busy. They’ve crafted an atmosphere that feels both upscale and welcoming, perfect for families, friends, or even solo diners. In summary, Akira Albany’s Glenmont location delivers an impressive dining experience that combines high-quality sushi, expertly prepared calamari, attentive service, and a comfortable, inviting setting. The sushi, fresh and beautifully presented, is a highlight, but the calamari is an unexpected delight that elevates the meal. Whether you’re there for a special occasion or just craving some good Japanese food, Akira Albany offers an experience that is sure to leave you satisfied and planning your next visit.

I sat down with friends and it was very quiet with no music playing so when we all stopped speaking it was silent. Very awkward. The service lady immediately gave us to go boxes after we got served our hibachi. Basically telling us to pack it up and leave. The hibachi cooker barely said anything while cooking to keep us entertained. Horrible service and very poor environment. Over priced and not worth the money to sit down and watch your food get cooked. That’s all you pay for at the end of the day. Charged me over $70 in tips automatically. If I could I would give no tip. Horrible place. Overpriced. Bad customer service. Didn’t check up on us while eating.

I really hate to leave a bad review of a small locally owned restaurant, but I need to. This restaurant was one of the few open on a holiday evening. Their staffing was ridiculously low. It took a LONG time to get questions about the menu answered and then another long time to order. Our ordering was interrupted by her having to leave to take care of take out customers. There were no alcoholic drinks available as there was no bartender working. The menu is very extensive and has more of what I would call “authentic” Chinese dishes. There is even an “American Chinese food” section of the menu. The food was all good and plenty of choices for vegetarian/vegans. The shrimp and mixed vegetables contained a lot of fresh vegetables and not the usual canned mushrooms and a limited amount of vegetables. Our table was never checked on, water not refilled, and the check took a LONG time as well. To be fair, we should give it another try but in my mind if you are open on a holiday, you should be staffed to give proper service on a holiday.

All the food we ordered are super good. This is a very authentic Chinese restaurant, you can find super tasty dishes here. People here are very nice, provided a welcoming atmosphere. Please give it a try if you are looking for real Chinese food.

This restaurant is a like a time machine of American-Chinese restaurants. Hot mustard and duck sauce for dipping fried noodles in bowls on the table. The table set with placemats explaining the Chinese Horoscope. Sliver teapot, with tiny little cups. A menu that would have been on the table in the 1960s. Food was all the classics. Well prepared and tasty. Prices were good, and they have lunch specials for $10. Try it out, you'll like it.

My daughter was excited to visit this restaurant due to her having celiac. She drove 30 minutes to get here. She did not enjoy the flavor of the food. She communicated this to the owner. His answer was, I don't need your business and don't come back to my restaurant. I called him and in a Macho response he said yes I did. Very frustrated. Is this how you treat a young customer? Sad. I even asked him, how would you feel if someone treated your child like this.

My first and last time....I stopped for egg drop soup....OMG he made in the wok and it tastes and looks like dish water. I went to my favorite place South Wok and got their delicious egg drop soup!!! Check out my picture - Great Wall on left - South Wok on right -- it's a no brainer which one is better!! Extra pic is Great Wall egg drop soup.

I’ve been having food from here since before I can remember. Probably around 20-30 years? The food is ALWAYS consistent and amazing. Our entire family on both sides love this place. The family that operates the place are some of the sweetest people in town. My folks from my generation that moved away still talks about how much they miss My Place and Great Wall 🤣😂! Anyway, love this place forever.

Food was decent. Service was not. I said thank you no reply several times. Never refilled my soda. Price is good

Very glad to see this business relocated and running again. Food selection was great, seemed like much of old location items and some new ones as well. Went for lunch, plenty of choices including sushi and hibachi. Loved seeing the fish again. I really missed this place and look forward to coming again many times in the future. Great staff, food, and prices.

This was a delivered order, and I absolutely loved it. Finally beef that’s edible/tender!! I moved here from Westchester County, and it’s ridiculous that I’ve not been able to find any Chinese food up here that’s actually good, until now!! Thank God for Lilac Blossom!! Hope you stick around 😉

This is NOT a typical greasy spoon, everything 10-15 minutes, takeout spot - The food is always fresh & delicious. It’s clean inside, the husband & wife are ALWAYS as friendly & accommodating as they can be, given the language barrier. Their children are kindly & well behaved, & Zindy will help with translating when necessary. This is my GO-TO spot when I’m craving high-end Chinese takeout, at a reasonable price. Go ahead & treat yourself to Lilac Blossom!

The shrimp is not cleaned, almost exploding with the uncleaned guts. Attaching a picture. I've always liked their food, for a takeout place they taste pretty good but this is a HUGE health concern. Absolutely disgusting.

Atmosphere is N/A. It’s take out only. This place has been in business forever for a reason. It’s always good and at a reasonable price.
