Northeast Chinese II
It felt somewhat unwelcoming when we first arrived, as there was a brief period where no one acknowledged us. Eventually, a young man noticed us, seated us, and handed us menus. However, after that, we waited long enough to start wondering if anyone would actually come over to take our order. Once we did place our order, the food arrived surprisingly fast—probably within 10 minutes. While we’ve seen other reviews mention long wait times, that wasn’t our experience. The food was okay, but the lack of hospitality makes it unlikely that I’d return.
I visit here at least once or twice in a week. Best ever Chinese cuisine place for me. Even when I had Chinese food like mala xianguo in Korea, it couldn’t make me satisfied because I miss here! Servers all know me and know what I am gonna order before I have a seat 😂 always thank you so much and I’ll see you again! Mafo tofu, mala xianguo, guobaorou, dongpo pork, fried rice, milk tea, Chinese pumpkin pie, omg just soooo good!!!!!😋
Shogun of Delmar
This has become a favorite place to go. I am not a huge sushi fan, but my dinner companions have been enthusiastic, and it always looks lovely. I have enjoyed the lunch boxes particularly--what a tasty lunch for a reasonable price! I switch off between teriyaki and hibachi meals, and plan to try the pad thai...
Hands down the best sushi in the area, great selection of rolls and entrees. Staff has always been super nice, quick, and helpful whether we’ve done takeout or dine in. Golden Dream Roll and their fried rice is always a favorite
Sawa Sushi Bistro
This was my first time dining at Sawa, it came highly recommended by my friend and I was not disappointed. They have quite a few different lighting features and special effects that enhance the overall experience. Our server, Nicki, was prompt and attended to our needs without being intrusive! I tried the miso soup, coconut shrimp roll and shrimp lo mein, all were outstanding! The shrimp lo mein had nice depth to the flavor and it was especially delightful. All 6 people in our party were raving about their food, everyone was collectively impressed with the mini tree garnish accompanying most of the sushi rolls; you can tell they put a lot of care into the details! I would highly recommend checking out Sawa if you're in Glenmont!
My friends live in the Hudson Valley area in NY, and we were celebrating their anniversary. The staff were kind and efficient. They even adjusted the music as different customers arrived. The decor is beautiful, comfortable, whimsical, and surprisingly quiet. Everything we ordered was fresh, unique, and delicious! I ordered the steamed seafood platter with steamed veggies. It was colorful, full of seafood, and fresh with just the right textures for the steamed veggies. I had the largest seaweed salad ever and very shareable. My friends ordered sushi rolls, which were fresh, preparedby the chef quickly, and a delight for the eyes! The garnish was edible flowers! My friend said it's the best sushi she has had on the East Coast! Everyone left satisfied. We can't wait to return!
Chontong Thai Restaurant
Great food, great service, interior was nice I liked all the plants. Perfect for lunch or dinner.
We had intended to go to a different restaurant but when we arrived, they were closed so we decided to try Chong Tong. We left being very glad that the other place was closed. The staff there were very friendly. The food was great. And it wasn't loud or noisy so we could actually have a conversation. I also think it was very reasonably priced, especially for the serving size. We finally found a good Thai restaurant in our area.
SUDY THAI
Very fresh ingredients! Server was very nice! Lots of cilantro stems....had to pick those off but the cilantro leaves were delicious. Next time I'll do the cilantro in the side! The salad dressing is fresh and tasty. The soup was my fav item....I'd come back for just this! Heads up mamas.....no kid menu though! I do recommend this place! 5 stars
I had the TOM KA TALAY ( seafood ) soup, it was outstanding! The coconut milk base, 🍤, calamari and mussels were the perfect balance with the vegetables, cilantro and a hint of lime. This is the perfect soup for a cold winter’s day! I will definitely be back with my husband and family. 💜
Silver Spoon Café
Very cute local diner. Have almost exclusively came for breakfast but came at lunchtime during this visit. Always prompt seating, even when busy. Everyone you encounter is warm and friendly. We’ve tried pancakes, country breakfast, hungry man platter, omelets, breakfast sandwiches and a chicken parm sub with fries. Never a bad item. Absolutely recommend!
OMG one of the best diners I've gone to !! Get a grilled cinnamon roll and swiss cheese omelette so yummy. Prices are excellent and big parking lot. I luv places who don't overprice and this is it folks !!
Halfway House Tavern
Fantastic burger!!! Perfect medium as ordered. Served on a nice brioche bun. Fries made hot and fresh. Very happy! Lots of moose decor. 🫎 Bar has a good selection too to match whatever you want to drink too, simple or complex.
Very nice little cozy place to enjoy wings and a beer. The dining area was a little small but not overcrowded when I was there in the afternoon. Service was polite and fast service. Girlfriend had a cheese steak, and she enjoyed it as well.
Ravena Pizza
Very good pizza/subs, courteous cook/owner, fair prices, no frills inside. It’s the exact type of atmosphere you’d expect in an old strip mall by a grocery store. Food is great though and worth a try. My only recommendation for the owner is to add online ordering- it will increase convenience for your customers and lead to much more business.
The only full blooded Italian pizza maker upstate from NYC. I recommend ordering a piece right out of the oven , the best pizza with the best cheese , the cheese is top shelf and you can definitely taste the difference , not to mention the sauce , unbelievable
Golden House
I feel obligated to leave a review since the ones I read seemed to be positive until coming back and looking at all of the lowest rated first. We ordered the sesame chicken combo, chicken & broccoli combo, chicken lo mein, and crab rangoon. The only thing that tasted average was the rice we had both pork fried and chicken fried rice. Everything else tasted like a TV dinner as far as flavor. The lo mein was mush not like noodles due to being overcooked. The broccoli was also mush and over cooked. Every item was LOADED with onions like it was a special request for triple onion. The crab Rangoon sauce and duck sauce helped to make it have a better flavor but I will do pick up since the other location in Watervliet only has that option before ordering here again. Sorry hopefully you guys work on this.
Piping hot food. Great flavor. Located right in Hill Top Plaza so there's plenty of parking. Definitely a good spot to get food or for those looking for their all the time "chinese spot" Really liked the shrimp egg roll and fried dumplings. Sesame chicken special combo (my go to besides general tso) was plentiful and had good flavor. Disclaimer: Pics were taken after we devoured some of the food 😁
Ocean Palace
This is always the first place I recommend when people ask about Chinese food in Albany. They recently opened back up for dine-in service and it’s a joy to sit there for lunch. My recent favorite dish is the chicken with Chinese vegetables lunch special but have loved the congee and other dim sum items as well as classics like orange chicken and beef with garlic sauce. They’re also so nice!
I absolutely loved the lunch I just had here. I dined in and the owner was an absolute gem. She was warm and welcoming, and the meal I received really felt home-cooked. I chose Mongolian beef made spicy (a 6) and it was precisely what I'd hoped for. I especially loved the light touch of fresh ginger added to the stir fry. Next time I visit I'll crank up the spicy level a bit more, as I like it to hurt a bit 😄 I definitely recommend Ocean Palace.
Best Cook
Not my usual go to but they were closed tonight. Ordered via a delivery service and got a veggie egg roll, vegetable moo shu, lobster chop suey, and veggie fried rice. It was okay. It was typical take out Chinese. They deserve credit for having lobster dishes available. The fried rice, that I ordered with egg had no egg. There were NO packets of soy, duck, or mustard in the bag. I have never needed to ask for this at other places.
Got a pick up to go and the food was ready on time. Shrimp lo mein was very tasty. However, I do wish there were more veggies in vegetable and shrimp fried rice. Both dishes tasted bland. But the portions are huge and I would go again to try something else on the menu.
J's Kitchen
Thought we’d try ordering here again after some positive experiences in the past, we’ll go back to our usual place. Rock was found in our combination platter rice. Thankfully I wasn’t chewing hard but nearly chipped a tooth. My daughter ate her leftovers today and found a hair in it.
We ordered from J’s a few times just because it’s kind of out of our way from where we live. Every time it was great until this last time. I’m not sure what happened but we were both sick the next day. The General Tsos chicken was off. We picked up directly from the restaurant so it was fresh but I don’t know if we’ll order again.
