Golden Star
Don't go here . They are shady and add tips a day after you go through their drive through without you putting it on the receipt. They charged me the correct amount at the drive through, they even sent a receipt with us. Then today I get a notification that they added a dollar tip to the transaction!! For a drive through order for a combo B!!!!!! Who does that. That is fraudulent dishonest and illegal. They did not have my approval to ads on a dollar tip at all. For what? They did not bring my food out to me, it's a drive through. Don't go here they are scammers and if I had knowledge of doing the tip FINE but to do it with my card a day later, that's NOT OK. The picture is a text I got exactly a day later showing the updos the tip. You can see the original receipt that I never added a tip on, they did it themselves after the fact🤮🤮🤮I blocked them on my card, shame on them.
Great Asian food for good price. The restaurant itself has a retro style to it.
Fan Tang
A VERY popular restaurant, Fan Tang Central was 95% filled with people talking, laughing and eating heartedly. Please note that we had only three dishes there and our experience is a limited one. Our order: Chicken Lettuce Wraps. Hong Kong Noodles. Ginger Basil Shrimp. Coke. Cost with tip: $45.00 KUDOs. Helpful hostess with ordering. Easy seating after ordering. CHALLENGEs. Lettuce wrap was the stiffer part of iceburg lettuce, not the usual leafy part that makes eating it easier. The chicken filling was plentiful but not tasty for us. The shrimp dish was much sweeter than expected and filled with more garlic cloves and ginger chunks than usual (photo shows remaining garlic and ginger). Hong Kong noodles are usually egg noodles, rounded and thin. The noodles served in the dish were flat, similar to pad thai noodles.
I was excited for having gluten free options. I got the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice. I knew the chicken would be grilled not breaded but when I received my order it looked like there was no sauce coating the chicken. Even the fried rice just looked like plain white rice with peas and carrots added. It tasted bland and was disappointing. I think a thicker sauce would improve the chicken at least.
Happy Asian Cuisine
Kind of a long review because I really want this place to do better as it's amazing food that no one seems to know about. If you want the TL:DR, scroll to the end. This used to be a Japanese sushi restaurant, but is now only serves Chinese. I'm Asian, so I'm usually very hesitant when I see mixed Asian decor as it usually means it's a white dude selling "fusion," so I avoided this place every time I drove past it in the South Valley. However, my wife said since it's one of the few Asian restaurants here, we should at least try it and was happily surprised. There is one man, the owner, who works here. He pleasantly takes orders, cooks the food, serves you, and is the cashier. So, when you go, please be patient as the food is absolutely worth the wait. If you'd rather get your food and go, you can place an online order. My wife and I got the egg drop soup, egg rolls, vegetable lo mein, chicken broccoli, and Mongolian beef. The egg drop soup was honestly mid. It was sweet and had corn, which I personally don't love. The egg rolls were also just okay, but what blew me away was how good the main dishes were. The chicken and broccoli was incredible. The chicken was perfectly juicy and tender. After being full, my wife couldn't stop opening the container and grabbing one more piece of chicken. The Mongolian beef was also cooked to perfection. It blew me away. I didn't know how he got beef to be so crispy but succulent in the middle. The vegetables were perfectly charred in the wok while maintaining that savory crunch. The lo mein did not disappoint either, and the noodles were nice and soft while still being chewy. This might sound weird, but the rice was cooked really well. One of the ways I judge Asian restaurants that serve rice is by the quality in which they cook it because it means they care about the food from the bottom up. It's a really easy thing to make, but also easy to screw up and serve mushy, especially in large quantities. TL:DR - My rec: Order online for pick up, skip the appetizers, and go straight for the main dishes. Get any of the entrees with white rice and pair it with an order of lo mein. You now have food for 2 people or for yourself with leftovers all for under $30. Support local business!
This place is a hidden gem in the south of albuquerque! Food: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 Went in for dinner. No one was dining inside beside us, but I noticed he had multiple orders getting picked up for takeout. Then I realized the owner was working alone, served our table, cashed out takeout orders, and was the cook! He had a happy demeanor through all of it and was so kind, but he definitely needed the help to keep up, which is why he lost a star. They also look like they used to offer sushi but don't offer it more. We ordered multiple plates, and they all came out hot and soooo tasty. Each had their own their unique flavor and quality of the protein is great! All plates come in sharing size, so come hungry. Must try the crab cheech wontons!
Chinshan Chinese Restaurant
Today we went to Chinshan restaurant because we were craving Chinese food due to the amazing smell that comes from the restaurant you can even smell it getting out from Dollar Tree. We tried the Cashew nut pork and the maongolian beef plate and both were on 🔥🔥🔥 very delicious, flavorful. The staff was kind and the restaurant and restrooms were pretty clean! Definitely we'll be back!
Excellent service! Excellent food! I have a strong appreciation for genuine Chinese cuisine. I make a deliberate effort to visit Denver or Austin to savor authentic Chinese dishes. Discovering a fantastic, flavor-rich restaurant right here in Albuquerque has left me thrilled. The service was top-notch, and the food was not only delicious but also expertly prepared. My personal favorites are the sesame beef and the chicken fried rice.
Ho Ho
You definitely can't beat the price here for the portions. Not heavy in flavor but still very good. Worth going to if your on a budget or wanting to share a meal with someone. The sesame chicken was super tough i recommend everything else.
Pleasantly surprised by how good it was, quick in and out. Polite staff who had us wait just a few minutes for the fresh hot food to come out, highly recommend, prices are very good and portion will feed you well. Don't just by the outside appearance
Noodle Works
BFF and I decided to try this place. OMG so delicious! He had the minced beef noodles, I had the Dan Dan noodles, and we split pan-fried dumplings. The dumplings tasted divine and were served in that single break-apart piece that give you tasty crispy bits. BFF liked his a lot, and that's the best Dan Dan I've had since leaving Seattle years ago. And surprisingly, the leftovers (large portions) reheated very well, not mushy. We will absolutely be back.
Their food is good. But their restroom was filthy. They didn’t even have soap in their soap dispenser and no paper towel. Used toilet papers were all over the floor around the trash. It WAS just filthy. So it tells me about the kitchen. If you don’t take good care of your restroom I doubt you take care of your kitchen. That’s why I wouldn’t come back.
Great China
My husband and I have been wanting to try more local restaurants. We googled Chinese restaurants in our area when we were in Albuquerque. The Great China restaurant came up. The reviews weren't too bad, and we decided to give it a shot. We entered and were immediately greeted and given a seat. The interior wasn't very appealing to look at. The floor boards were lifting, boxes stacked everywhere, and chairs could definitely use a good cleaning. Below is a picture of the booth I was seated in. There were several people eating and a lot of people who came in for togo orders. The servers were very nice. As for the food, it was really good. They started us with egg drop soup. It was good but was too goopy. I ordered the sweet and sour pork and the fried shrimp with fried rice and an eggroll. The servings were huge. I loved that each fried item had its own flavor. It didn't taste all the same as one would think with so many fried items. We didn't care for the eggroll as it was only filled with cabbage. My husband ordered the peppered beef and sweet and sour chicken. The sauce on the beef was really tasty. My favorite was the flavor of the sweet and sour sauce. The fried rice was OK, I liked that it wasn't overly saturated with soy sauce. But it would have used more vegetables, and I could barely find the egg. All in all, it was a pleasant surprise. Cost was very reasonable.
It was really good. You get egg drop soup as a starter. I got combination plate G with lo mein noodles. The pork was good it had a sweet and savory sauce, had some carrots onions, and cabbage. The egg roll was good, but the crust tasted like a sopapilla, giving it a slight sweetness.
China City
Great food and great prices the owner is so friendly the food is always to fresh and delicious this is a must eat place! I can't say enough about this place how good the food is at this place
Great prices. The staff is friendly and very alert to customers. First time eating here. I was impressed. It’s worth a try for good food and good prices. Free egg drop noodle soup. Check out the serving size! Try it.
Neo Szechuan
Delicious and authentic Chinese cuisine! I didn’t take pictures of all the dishes I enjoyed but this is a great restaurant for eating with family or friends. Good portion sizes and amazing flavor. Pictured is the “spicy boiled fish filet” (水煮鱼片) which was savory and mouth-watering spicy, paired well with rice. Other dishes I recommend are the roast duck and the salt and pepper shrimp. Prices may appear higher, but the quality holds up. I recommend coming here if you want to try more authentic Szechuan style cuisine in Albuquerque!
Delicious food! Truly the best Chinese food I’ve had in all of Albuquerque. The vegetables taste super fresh and the dishes are so flavorful! The spice is PERFECTION. I had to order double the amount of fried rice just to make sure I had leftovers. I highly recommend. Service was excellent and restaurant was clean and quiet. The wonton soup was so fresh and the vegetables were perfectly cooked. The soup broth was so soothing. Portion sizes are GENEROUS, so it’s the perfect spot for sharing. Mongolian beef and lo mein were also fantastic. Have to check this place out and support local!!
Chinese Kitchen
How can reviews be so different? Not only did we stand around five minutes ignored until we finally decided to seat ourselves, but the place is dismal in appearance. We should have gone with our gut feeling to just leave. Yes, prices are "good," unless you realize you're paying for awful food. I'm sure this is a little mom and pop place, but it's dreadful. It is served nicely, looks good, tastes....no. THIS is considered the best Chinese food in Cruces? Cruces has NO decent Chinese food, none. I ate some of the vegetables out of the (bland) Curried Chicken, but the greasy little plops of chicken made me nauseated. I am giving two stars because I don't have the heart to give it just one. It looks like it's on its last legs. Once we obeyed the unwritten "seat yourself" rule, the staff came over and were very pleasant. But nice staff can't improve the meal.
Staff friendly and food was delicious and plentiful. Had chicken chow mein lunch special for $5. Very good, nice atmosphere, small but quaint.
328 Chinese Cuisine
I've been coming here longer than my children have been alive. (So, 16+ years) the food is always excellent. I have never had a bad meal here. Highly recommended
This was honestly the best Chinese food I have had in a while. I had the L16 - Triple Delight lunch special. Everything was fresh and piping hot. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The price for the amount of food was amazing (see my attached photo: that was a ~$10 lunch special!) Good flavor, and a great variety of vegetables in with the meat.
Wok N World
Best Chinese restaurant in Las Cruces. We love it.
They give decent amount of food, whether single entree or combos. Always tastes fresh and they offer a fair selection of options. I wish they had more dishes with rice noodles. Never disappointed with any of the different orders we've tried so far.
