First timer here but pretty disappointed. We ordered a stir fry garlic watercrest ($18.95) and a clay pot taro and roasted duck ($28.95). Definitely way overpriced for what it is!!! First of all, the amount for the dishes are soooo small and we both walked out still hungry. Also, I don't think this veggie is watercrest. I'm not a plan biologist but this is definitely not the watercrest I used to have like in other Chinese restaurants. Eyeball net weight of this dish is probably 8-10oz? $21.95 for real??? And It's not like the taste is so heavenly to be worth this price. Don't get me started on the clay pot duck. A small amount of duck pieces and every piece is sooo fatty and couldn't even be consumed. There are also a few pieces JUST the skin!!! 40% napa cabbage on the bottom, 30% taro and 30% duck with which 70% fat?!?! We also didn't get a fruit plate at the end like any other table did....... I asked to switch an order 5mins from it being placed and was told that the chef has started cooking it. I was like fine. Waited close to 40mins to have the first dish on the table? What kind of veggie takes 40mins to cook? I have an assumption that they prioritize who ordered the expensive dishes because whoever came after us and ordered lobster has gotten way faster than our stir fry veggies! I know inflation is a thing but don't be taking advantage of customers like that?!

We absolutely adore this restaurant—it’s a family favorite and a regular go-to spot for us! Whether it’s dim sum or dinner, we’ve visited countless times and have never been disappointed. The dim sum here is fantastic, featuring all the classic dishes you’d expect, and everything is always fresh. With so many options to choose from, it’s easy to get carried away, but going with a group is a great way to sample a variety without overspending. Depending on when you come, you may have to wait, but usually not too long. The food is authentic, delicious, and absolutely worth the wait. The service is another standout feature. The staff is exceptionally friendly and attentive, always making sure we have everything we need. They go above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and appreciated. As for the menu, it’s incredibly vast and caters to both newcomers to Cantonese cuisine and those seeking authentic, homestyle flavors. Some of our must-order dishes include the Beef Chow Fun in soy sauce, garlic bok choy, fried jiaozi, and their flavorful soups. The portions size are large leaving you with lots leftovers. We can’t recommend this place enough!!

I have order this food over now 40 times. Now I am going back after 1 year. And I got to say the quality has dropped tremendously. Can you get Chinese food for the bang for your buck? I would say so. Quality of the food was 2/10. Food is very salty. When you order a meat to go with it you will get less meat and all vegetables. During my last trip I was able to see where the fried rice comes from. A big plastic tub they will keep the rice sitting from the morning. The fried rice is very bland

I ordered the Hunan chicken dinner combo and wow, I got a lot of food for $12. The quality is great, too. I will have to sample some other menu items but this place might enter my regular lunch rotation.

Food was ok, the sesame chicken and kung pao. Didn’t care for the cream cheese puffs - they were lacking any filling. The egg rolls were not good, too much of some type of seasoning/spice. Didn’t dine in, only ordered take out. Overall, would return but wouldn’t get appetizers.

Fried rice with chicken no tasted the picture seem to be appealing but the actual food tasting boring there’s no taste. Either used too much grease or butter the chicken has no taste plain and very slippery it was like eating down some water with fried rice 🤮 I added some soy sauce couldn’t even get any taste from it had to uses salt one of the worst fried rice in the country 👎

Been ordering from here for 3 years and always had excellent food. We've tried many of the dishes on the menu and the quality is very good. But what is even more outstanding, and what brings us back time and time again, is the people who work here. They are always so friendly, always greet you with a smile, efficient and quick at getting the order ready, and when I requested they make one of my favorite dishes without a particular ingredient they were happy to do so, and even substituted other ingredients for me. Their customer service is so good and so consistent. I also like how their receipts give prompts to show tip amounts, but unlike other places their tip suggestions start at 10% and not 15 or 20. We are loyal customers and hope to be for a long time to come!

I grew up eating here, and not once in my 25 years have I had a complaint. Food is always made fresh, with amazing portions for the price. It's my go-to place for Cantonese food, mostly because I can't find a better lemon chicken! The family owned business is run with compassionate staff that care about serving quality dishes. I still get excited to see the red paper table clothes, that I grew up coloring on!

Always a good place to eat. No dine in. Always busy, so keep that in mind if u are hungry. I could take up to an hour. But u will be happy u waited. I always order the shrimp fried rice, chicken maye fun, and beef chow mai. The orange chicken is really good.

We get this weekly at work! A favorite! Szechuan chicken is a must. General taos is great also! Steam pot stickers and chicken Tyeroki sticks are a must! The staff is so nice and remember names! Haven't had a bad meal here+

Very good, combo five sesame chicken with three wontons I did eat a big portion of it already. It is very delicious..

Best Asian food around, by far! This was our go to Asian food when we lived in the area. Now that we live hours away, every time we come to the cities, we have to get some takeout. Fried rice, lo mien, egg rolls, beef and broccoli, pad Thai, chicken curry. All super delicious Give them a try, I’m sure you will enjoy.

Ordered food for myself and children as they wanted Chinese take out for Christmas. The receptionist was rude and very inpatient. This was my first time ordering (and last) I asked the “Manager” if they included eggs in their fried rice. She yelled “NO WE DON’T” I insisted on asking again and making her aware that myself and children are allergic to eggs. It is extremely important that there are no eggs in food. She assured me no while rushing me to complete my order. “If you still need time call back” as I am working remote today I went to pick up food on lunch. Long story short my daughter has hives everywhere because in fact there are eggs… chopped up fine. I called the restaurant about the problem only to be called a liar and that she can’t remember my order.. (even with my receipt and food purchase) she would not give her name over the phone as I stated I can not come back until I am off. Which is AFTER they close. I do not recommend this place, she did not apologize for the health scare, or mistake. Only had her pride in the way. Will also call the health department. If you have allergies do not eat here. Thank goodness it was a small bite and we didn’t need to rush to the hospital.

The food is delicious. This was my second time and I definitely I am coming back again to get food. Additionally the prices are good because they serve you ton of food, compare to others restaurants.

Came in there today and we were satisfied! The lady that took our order was awesome and the food was even better. Next time we come out this way since we’re truckers we are definitely coming back. Food was so good we devoured our take out in less than 5 minutes! This place need 10 ⭐️’s

I'm honestly really disappointed this place has remained take out only since covid. The only reason I can think for them to do so is that they make more money this way. They also removed their lunch special, have raised their prices, and quality is decreasing. I got the chicken chow mein with fried rice and sweet and sour pork. The pork was hard to chew, though the bater and sauce were good. The chow mein though was really disappointing. The sauce was basically water and the chicken was tasteless. The fried rice was simply boring, unfortunately. I will say though, the staff is nice, and always has been. I just wish they'd figure out their prices and actually open the restaurant part back up. The food being kind of gross could be a fluke, I've eaten here before and it's usually not this bad, though it's also not usually something impressive either, but the take out only and the prices changing all the time are really off putting for me. I've uploaded pictures of the most recent menu's for everyone so people can see the accurate prices.

Got the “combination I” wanting some chow main and some sweet and sour pork. Neither hit the spot. The chicken chow mein is like a thick soup that comes with a packet of grocery store fried noodles, like most restaurants give you for free with soup. Super bland flavor and like 3 small pieces of chicken resting on top of the liquid. The pork was fried and was decent but there was 4 small fried pieces 1 of which was all tendon and bone. Again super bland sauce. The rice was PLENTIFUL. But again just no flavor. It was fried but had nothing in it to bring flavor and tasted like slightly oily steamed rice. I feel bad writing such a brutal review. The woman at the front was decently nice. But honestly each individual good item was one of the worst like it I’ve ever had. Credit where it is due: the food was very hot and fresh.

I got a #12 lunch special and an order of the steamed dumplings. Cost came out to just under $19. The amount of food I got was a ton! Definitely worth the $$. The dumplings were by far the best I have had. Huge size and tasted great! Not a fan of the egg roll. It tasted like it had been rolled in sugar prior to being deep fried. Came off pretty sweet. The sesame chicken was good. Really liked the coating on the chicken. Sauce was ok. Not super spicy but chicken was a little dry. Nothing special about the fried rice. It’s like they just put white rice in the wok with some soy sauce and an egg. No real taste. Would be better if they put just a couple of peas or carrots with some seasonings. I will go back just for the dumplings!!

Good: I’ve worked and lived in China for almost 20 years and had dim sum countless times including the heart of dim sum in Guangzhou, Guangdong province. The good thing is that Yangtze Restaurant’s dim sum is possibly the closest you’ll get in terms of authentic dim sum flavor in Minnesota, perhaps reaching 85% with what I’ve had in China. Next level would be in a city with a bigger Chinese community such as Chicago, NY or San Francisco. Bad: There’s unfortunately a lack of transparency with the dim sum menu in terms of pricing as there are no prices displayed. Of course, we should’ve asked since it was our first time but we did not wish to be rude and ask how much each dim sum cost. Also, it was really busy (Easter Sunday). In the end, we ended up paying a total of $270 including tip and tax for 4 adults and 1 kid (photo of receipt below for reference). That’s about $90 per person since three of us decided to split the bill. When asked for an itemized receipt, it did not show which items were ordered. Instead, dim sum is categorized as medium, large and X-large prices. In addition, our host decided to lecture us on how to fill out our dim sum order form. It was an honest mistake on our part but she didn’t have to be rude. But then again, we came on a busy Sunday and she had been dealing and yelling with customers the entire morning. Our server, a gentleman, was very nice to us however. Area(s) to improve on: Improve dim sum menu which displays prices or at least allow customers to know which are priced which. Also, improve host’s service with customers while waiting in line when it gets busy. Although not directed to us, it makes us feel uncomfortable. How would we know if the host will treat us any different? Conclusion: Next time for dim sum, Yangtze Restaurant won’t be our immediate choice because we want to try out the other places in the Twin Cities to compare.

Kinda disappointed. Since this venue is a stones throw away from the hotels and Shops at West End, prices here are elevated compared to what you would pay at any other Chinese restaurant. For the price, the food wasn't worth it. They do give you a good amount of food and generous amounts of protein but the flavor was just lacking. I got the Hunan triple crown since it was recommended. Maybe I should have picked something else. I do have to give credit to the guy at the front desk for being an excellent host. He was very courteous and I noticed that he even put in the effort to remember the names of frequent patrons.

I got General sour chicken with egg drop soup and tiger pork dinner with hot and sour soup. We asked for extra spicy but didn't seem to be very spicy. Other then that. I enjoyed my meal and leftovers for late night snacking

Following a Notarization at Beacon Hill, I tried Dragon Jafe. Terrific egg drop soup & moo shoo pork.

This place doesn’t seem to get a lot of business but they’re actually really good. Food came out quick, service wasn’t anything special but not bad either! Everything came in to go containers which was very convenient for us. We dined in, it’s dark and cold in there and which is why I only have atmosphere 1 star but I could definitely see this being a regular to-go spot! We spent $30 in total for 1 App, 2 combo platters and 2 waters so good price as well! Orange chicken is made with real oranges!!

Food was very good and came out quickly. But service we were never checked on, and waited over 10 minutes to get boxes for our left over food and then pay. If I was ever to get food here again it would only be take-out. Also they do not offer free water, only have bottled water.
