Saab Sis Thai
Summary: fantastic food for the price, great cozy environment, very quick service. My new favorite Thai restaurant. Get the Khao Soi. Location and ambiance: Super cozy, exposed brick, short ceilings and lots of natural light from large windows. Cutesy decor. Across the street from a large parking structure so you avoid the curb side sentry mobile parking. Food and drink: delicious “comfort” food. Get the Khao Soi. Hands down, full stop. Best way to describe it is a fusion Asian Indian ramen. Slow stewed half chicken in a masaman curry (coconut milk) based soup with rice noodles and egg noodles, green onion, cilantro, and on the side: red onion, pickle relish, lime and chili oil. The chicken was so tender, you could pull it off the bone with chop sticks 🤤 Other items we had included dumplings, green curry and Thai Tea. All of those were delicious as well. Service: The restaurant definitely busy when we got there, pretty sure we had the last seats available (6:15p). Service was prompt and as expected. Consider getting a reservation. Accessibility: I would not recommend visiting if you have mobility issues, there’s no ramp as far as I could tell. No wheelchair access. It’s in the basement of a church so you have to take steps down into it. Get it take out instead and sit on a nearby bench and enjoy it outside.
Drop by on a hunger whim one Sunday. Had a chicken curry dish which I requested as mild. Unfortunately it was too spicy 🔥🥵 to enjoy initially. But they gave me more coconut milk to ease the intensity. This helped a great deal as I could actually taste the flavor. The downside was I had to mix it myself. I felt the dish was prepared in error at medium level & the should reworked it in the back & re-presented. Nonetheless, the place is small, cute, & serves traditional Thai drinks which are delicious 😋. The service is also friendly. Recommend a stop by if in the area & you're a fan of spicey food.
Ho Wah Chinese Restaurant
Absolutely Terrible! Ho Wah used to be so good.... I'm so sad. It has definitely gone down hill. The gravy tasted like starch, the chicken was brick hard and over cooked. The rice smelt like paint and the vegetable fried rice tasted like a really old frying pan. I called and told the manager about the food and she didn't even offer to comp. I will never ever return. They lost a very good customer of over 10 years. Super sad. I don't recommend anything. I recommend you go to a different restaurant.
Oh wow! Wow! I’m so speechless. I seen this on Google with a good review so I figured I’d try it out. They had something called Garlic Fried Chicken which I never tried but had interest in trying, ordered a Chicken and Broccoli as a backup in case I didn’t like it. I arrived 5 minutes early and my food was ready. Staff was very sweet and polite. My food was nice and hot when I got home. I took a few pictures for Google then dug my fork in….and wow. The chicken was breaded to perfection, there was a generous amount of savory sauce, the egg roll was by far one of the best I’ve had. Everything about this meal was just exquisite. I don’t know what culinary school their chef went to but they deserve to be up there with Oxford.
Wing Lee Chinese Restaurant
Food was mid. Had no flavor at all. Rice was extremely dry. The noodles were not beef lo mien. The food looked and smelled very good. But being that they were about to close, I believe I just got a rushed plate
The food was okay but for me it did not taste authentic. I ordered the Sesame Chicken and asked for extra spicy. The sauce was very soupy and tasted like Tabasco sauce was added which gave it a strange flavor but also was not spicy. I probably would not return. It was a take out order but the restaurant looked clean and everyone was friendly.
The Peterboro
I'm so glad they now do catering! Every time we want Chinese, this is where we'll be ordering from. Everything tasted so fresh and "real" if that makes sense. Everyone described the food as Chinese food that takes it up several notches. We tried several things, and everything was so tasty. Even the crab rangoon, which can sometimes just taste like canola oil and cream cheese. These were full of crab flavor and perfectly fried. The bao buns held up nicely for catering, the mushroom dumplings tasted healthy and fresh, and the chicken dishes were so good. The sesame chicken had delicious veggies and the almond chicken was crispy but not dry, with lots of slivered almonds and a savory gravy. Delicious! It's been so difficult to find decent Chinese food in the city, so I'm so glad we tried them today. Highly recommend.
So many tasty dishes, here! And the service was outstanding! Megan was our server and took her time helping us choose dishes for our large party. The bartender was also wonderful and made us some Red Dragon shots that went down so smooth! The food came out so quick. My favorite dishes were the Lo Mien, which is a bit on the salty side, but I like that, and the chicken wontons! The chicken wontons had a chili soy sauce that was very savory. I don’t like spicy and this was just very flavorful. Also you can’t go wrong with the fried rice!! Highly recommend checking it out!
Thai Fresh
This is a busy resto, people also nice and kind. It will be better not dine in and take out. The kitchen is one wall attach to eating tables , The cooker fights very hard with pots and shevals making loude endless sound , that drove all customers to the other sides. Maybe some customer will still enjoy the atmosphere. Ordered noodle , thick and rich hot flavor. also xiaolong bao , hand made, taste is good as Shanghai China.
I went here today and my expectations were exceeded! The customer service was on point and the prices were very affordable. For food I got the Tom kha soup which was absolutely amazing, the soup dumplings which were my main focus and were delicious, and the Chong Quing spicy noodles. Now I did not expect the noodles to be as spicy as they were but they were still delicious! My cousin got the crispy roll which she says was good, the seasame noodles- also good, and the Thai fresh beef pho which she says the broth could be a little stronger. Overall I would definitely go back to try something new!
Moe's On Ten
Stopped here for the first time when I was in the area running errands. I ordered the fish and chips and it was excellent. The side salad that came with the platter was a little tired but not enough to dock a point.
A little while back I started working right down the road so have been trying all the local lunch options. This is one of my favorites and I’ve been to a LOT of different places! Everything I’ve had here as far as food has been great. The service is outstanding! From the hostess, to the managers/Owners. Been here twice now and Alexis and Grace were both very attentive, kept my water filled and always had a polite and friendly smile and attitude. You get a free bowl of soup with your sandwich and fries and they also give you free, fresh baked bread. You can’t beat it. This is my new go to for sure. Great job guys!!
Deccan Bawarchi Indian Cuisine
An impromptu visit to Deccan Bawarchi Indian Cuisine for lunch today. Was on my way to a different restaurant, it caught my attention. When entering I was greeted. They had an all you can eat buffet going for lunch, which was a surprise And delight to be able to try different Indian cuisine Food was made fresh, was delicious. After a couple plates, I was stuffed. No way I made it to a dessert. I should’ve taken a little nibble of each on my plate. All my dishes were chicken, except for one was a cheese based and another goat. Goat tastes like lamb not chicken. ;) The gentleman said that they will be having dinner buffets on Saturday. Which they make specialty dishes on Saturday. To me, they’re all Specialty dishes. They also have vegetarian dishes and the buffet.
I recently visited Deccan Bawarchi and had an absolutely delightful experience. As someone who appreciates authentic Hyderabadi flavors, this place truly lived up to my expectations. I ordered mutton biryani, chicken 65, chilli chicken, and mutton marag—each dish was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and packed with that rich Hyderabadi taste. For desserts, I tried the mix fruit custard, rabdi, and rasmalai, and they were the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The service was excellent—friendly and attentive staff who offered great suggestions and made the experience even more enjoyable. If you’re craving Hyderabadi food, I’d highly recommend giving Deccan Bawarchi a try. It’s definitely worth a visit!
Bahama Breeze
Craving for seafood and ordered seafood Paella. I know it is not a Spanish restaurant, but expect the taste should be similar. It turns out the meat and sausage are way overcooked and very dry. The staff is friendly, but the food needs to live up to the expectations. May gives it a second chance for other dishes.
Such a beautiful tropical theme restaurant. You feel like you’re on vacation each time you step through the door. Amazing drinks, appetizers, main dishes, and desserts. Happy hour is a wonderful time to make it with a discount on some drinks and appetizers. Allows you to try something you might not normally. Usually don’t get dessert but got there at happy hour and had some appetizers to split. We then tried the 3 delicious dessert pictured. Keylime pie, Chocolate Island (Rich chocolate mousse on a fudge brownie), all of us loved the Flaming Pineapple Butter Cake. Beef Empanadas, Coconut Shrimp, Skillet-Simmered Jerk Shrimp, Jerk chicken pasta, top sirloin & coconut shrimp, coconut shrimp tacos, seafood paella, Jerk Mai Mai, sweet plantains, cinnamon mashed sweet potatoes all Have been delicious each time we have ordered them. Service is amazing.
Panda Express
Our 1st time placed catering orders. The experience was excellent both the food and service. Thank you Panda
I just got my doordash order and they did not bother to seal the drinks. If you offer delivery services the least you could do is ensure food safety. I ordered the black pepper steak and only got 2 pieces of the steak. The rest of the plate was full of veggies. Mind you i was charged extra for this ‘premium’ item. What a joke.
Detroit Vegan Soul
We had such an amazing experience working with DVS for my sister in laws bridal shower. The owner was not only extremely accommodating but also professional and did a phenomenal job on the food. Even non-vegans were smacking their lips. I would recommend this place 10X over to anyone. Clean, delicious, and beautifully designed. Thank you DVS for allowing us to rent the space and host the most amazing bridal shower.
I’m not sure what happened to the quality of food at this place. I sent my Brother by here for an order of fried mushrooms and this was the image and the taste was about the same. Greasy like chicken gizzards.
Cafe ML
The chicken lemon rice soup was very good! Best thing I had. I didn’t really care for the ML burger; it was decent at best. The fries were not hot, dry, and burnt tasting. The service and atmosphere was pleasant.
First time, service was as friendly and a bit slow. Restaurant was busy which must have been why. Food was good, but not great. Nachos were very greasy and dense, guacamole was excellent. Chicken tacos weren’t tender or very flavorful, fish tacos were cooked right but a bit fishy. We will be back to try other dishes, colleagues highly recommend this place so perhaps we missed something.
Birmingham Sushi Cafe
There was a hair in my house salad. The sushi tasted pretty decent, but I’ve had better. For my party of 4, we were also automatically charged an 18% tip - which to me is tacky. (I also wonder if this is done for every customer, or only done for those of a certain demographic, if you know what I mean) We are not a large party. Therefore, it should be up to the customer about how much to tip. I always tip and tip well. But being forced to tip a certain amount (especially for service that wasn’t even exceptional) isn’t really best practice — especially if it’s not communicated beforehand.
Birmingham Sushi Cafe is a wonderful Japanese restaurant with so many options - including a half page of vegetarian rolls! I would highly recommend the Jalapeno Roll for vegetarians. It was just the right amount of spice and tasted fresh! The edamame was good, although I wish it was flavored as I am used to. The vegetable tempura was delicious! It did seem to get busy on a Thursday night so I would recommend making a reservation.
