Yep Kitchen (AYCE Sushi & Hotpot )源记茶餐厅
Food was decent but customer service was not. The workers are so rude and disrespectful, with no help regarding the menu selection. I came in with a group and ordered two orders of the AYCE sushi which the waitress gave us attitude about. Do not come here if you’re visiting Chicago or even a local to Chinatown! Horrible restaurant hospitality for a new shop that hasn’t even been here for 5+ years.
Dined here twice, both were very good! Service was ok, you order yourself through the ipad and the server much confirm order We ordered egged shrimp, veggie, pork, beef, some drink and braised squab Food portion is kinds small but I will say the food taste very good! Since it is new and obviously recently remodeled, the restaurant is very clean and bright and restroom is clean
Tasty Place Bakery & Cafe
The food is absolutely incredible!! I got beef congee that was seasoned sooo perfectly, had just the right amount of salt and flavors to not get bored of any bite. Friend got the Beef rib tip crepe and it was delicious, (its not a french crepe!!) and paired sooooo well with their soy sauce which was also the best soy sauce I've ever had!! Also got the chicken feet in red bean, so juicy and left just the smallest satisfying tingle on my lips. Theyre han egg bun was so delicious too, the bread is a sweet soft and so perfect. It was busy in the morning so finding a seat was a little awkward but people had no issue moving or sitting in a table with strangers. It was also so nice seeing older people just enjoying their community in an establishment. Absolutely a MUST eat!!! Sooooo value too, but cash only!
Heads up: cash only. We been coming here for cheap and good food for a while now. But the most recent visit the food was terrible. Our Singapore noodles was oily, almost no meats on it and super spicy, I mean super spicy. We eat Korean spicy food all the time so can handle them. But this dish was almost un-eatable. Or normal dish are beef stirred flat rice noodles and salted fish and chicken fried rice. Good BBQ buns too. The baked version.
Yummy Yummy Noodles
Went in on NYD for a warm soup with a group of 5. Seated immediately, the menu is printed and looks like it’s been enlarged and so the text is blurry. The service is lovely but the food was lacking. The soup broth is bland and there are no vegetables in the soups. We ordered the dumpling soup, the beef soup, beef with noodles and the bbq pork fried rice. The flavors were just very plain and bland. The beef was not a beef cut, looked like tripe or some other offal, there were also concerns about hygiene as there was a hair in one of the soups and the bathroom was disgusting. We didn’t finish our meals and I would not recommend. The price at least didn’t make this visit worse as it was only $60 for 5 people. You do get a fortune cookie at the end of the meal. Mine said “Find release from your cares, have a good time”.
I visited yummy yummy noodles and ordered the roasted duck and noodle soup. The flavor was very authentic with a good portion of duck. We had the chicken skewers for an appetizer, they were fried hard and tasted great I’d recommend visiting them if you’re in Chinatown
New Chinatown Restaurant
Very good food! Also very close to the hotel I was staying at. I recommend the Crab Rangoon.
Pretty nice place, I ordered a cold styled noodle and wonton soup also a pork rice cake, the food was pretty good although took a long time and when I meant long it was about 40-50 minutes! :( good thing I was not in a hurry or really hungry, but wouldn't recommended if you're in a hurry or feeling really hungry.
Xi'an Cuisine
Food was good, but not the greatest in Chinatown. We split the beef skewers, noodles with beef, beef buns, marinated peanuts, fried peanuts, and marinated potato slices. It was noon on a Saturday and they were out of the original noodles we wanted to order, as well as out of banana for the smoothie. And the smoothie didn’t come out until we were fully done with our meal. The food was good, but not great enough to entice me back. The buns were the best part of the meal, be sure to add vinegar! And they make all the buns handmade upon order! The beef dishes all were heavy on cumin flavor so if that is not your favorite spice, this isn’t the place for you.
The food here is absolutely amazing! Super delicious. Sent these pics to my friend from XiAn, she also says they look real authentic!
蛙! 烤鱼 BBQ Szechuan Cuisine
I was looking for a tasty place to eat by myself on Christmas and walked a bit before I found this place! I was seated very quickly, and the ordering is by tablet which is great and it has pictures! The food came out quickly and the potstickers and orange chicken were delicious! I would definitely go back!!
We were celebrating a special occasion and were looking for places to eat. Since all of the places we wanted to eat at were packed, we decided to try something new. Which I’m super glad that we stumbled upon here! The servers were all so friendly and nice, making sure everything was okay for us. The food was also pretty good here too! We will definitely be coming back for the fish!
Emperor's Choice
Came here because of the reviews and I was not disappointed. I’m used to really good Chinese food when I lived in N.Y., Philly and L.A. now that I live in Houston, it’s very hard to find decent Chinese food. While visiting Chicago I was impressed. The food here was excellent as was the service. Ordered the pork fried rice, chicken Lo main, beef egg fu young and the emperors special. Next time I come I think I will order the chicken fried rice as that seems to be more popular in Chicago. Highly recommended.
Had a very good experience and throughly enjoyed our lunch.Large portions of sesame beef and sweet and sour chicken.Beautiful restaurant in Chicago's Chinatown.
Triple Crown Restaurant
My friend took me here because he said this was his favorite restaurant in Chicago so I had very high expectations and I was not disappointed. We ordered a lot of food and everything was delicious down to the hot tea. We got there early so we were seated by the window and had a wonderful view of the street below. Service was quick. Everything came out hot and fresh. Empty dishes were cleared promptly. My favorite was the pan fried dumplings! This will be a must stop whenever I'm in Chicago now too.
Amazing food as always and a great Christmas dinner. The chow mein with extra bean sprouts and the corn and shrimp dumplings are my absolute favorites and I order them every time I go. They can’t wait to return. I would skip the fried rice next time or maybe order it with extra bean sprouts.
Cai
Located on the 2nd floor in Chinatown square. Mostly we come for dimsum, however we came for dinner to celebrate a special occasion with family. We ordered many typical Cantonese style dishes. Everything was good for the dishes we ordered.
It's maybe $30-$50/per person. But I accidentally ordered too much, so it was $430 for 8 of us. Most of the food/dimsum I ordered were tasty. We like the roasted duck, dumplings, squid,.... But the Xiaolongbao was disappointed. It was too salty. I accidentally ordered too much so the staff packed the remainder into boxes to take home. However, when we got back to the hotel, we discovered that they did not give us chopsticks and dipping sauce. If you are in the same situation as us, you should tell them you want more dipping sauce and chopsticks. I think it wasn't too expensive because we packed the remaining food and brought it back to the hotel for breakfast the next day. So the 8 of us got 2 meals for $430.
LEE WING WAH
Stopped in on a whim, and glad we did! Started off with egg rolls and beef sticks. The egg rolls were large and fresh, the beef sticks crispy and tender. Then decided to go with the scallion pancakes and garlic spare ribs... yum! The ribs were also crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, the order more than enough for two. Scallion pancakes light and tasty...would reccommend!
The owner was so gracious in allowing our larger party to sit outside with various food given some allergies. The level of kindness in ensuring we knew what we were ordering was unrivaled especially in comparison to other service lacking in the chicago area. The chow mein was truly a standout from the entire trip!
Happy Cafe
There are lots of choices in the menu that would be perfect for a group to share. But there are also items good for solo eaters. Dropped in for a quick lunch and had a spicy shrimp rice bowl. Staff was very friendly. If you are looking for authentic Chinese food, you won't go wrong with this place.
Interior is unpretentious but does need to be cleaned, smudges all over had me second guessing my pick. Food was extremely flavorful and delicious I have never had anything like it!
Happy Mart
Tried the roasted duck and the soy chicken. It's very flavorful and tender.
