Sunshine Cuisine
Food was super tasty and the staff really friendly. I would recommend going not on Monday. You can call ahead to make sure they have what you want!
The female working there tonight with the bonnet and glasses on her head was extremely rude. I was there to pick up a door dash order including trying to get myself something to eat as well. She asked me if I was there to pick up an order. I said yes door dash the customer that she was assisting before I came in heard me say yes door dash and even repeated she still did not hear. If she was professional she would have completed taking care of the current customer gave me her undivided attention and been able to hear what I was saying. I repeated door dash again with a higher pitch tone and she began being combative telling me I don’t need to scream which I was not I projected my voice since I was asked 4 times to repeat myself. This person who is here if she does not know how to conduct herself in a professional manner there is no need for her to be there serving the public.
Tiger Bowl Restaurant
Tiger Bowl- Southport, CT Tiger Bowl is a small, intricately designed Chinese Restaurant located on the Southport-Westport border on Post Rd next to Michael's and Village Bagels. The service is impeccable service is unmatched but the food is what takes this place to the next level. There are dozens of Asian Restaurants in the area, but the freshness, and unique combination of herbs, spices and cooking techniques makes Tiger Bowl stand out. The fried chicken delights(IE Sesame, General Tso, Lemon, Orange, etc) are unlike your standard chinese fair. Unlike other restaurants the crispy fried chicken is crispy on the outside, but magically soft in texture on the inside. There is a certain fluff to the inside of the chicken, almost similar to a corn dog batter. The soups are perfect for a cold winter's day, and the beef dishes shine as well. My only critique is with the bonelesss ribs and spare ribs. Thought cooked nicely the sauce is a bit heavy and way too sweet. In an area oversaturated with restaurants this is THE Go-To for delicious Chinese food for the whole family. They currently do not allow guests to dine in(thanks Covid) but are available for takeout and delivery 7 days a week.
First I tried my wings and they were gross and had no flavor but I was willing to let that go until then I opened my food and there was a spiral piece of silver something in my boneless spare ribs so I just had to leave a review. The food is really not that great and not worth the gamble of getting things in your food. Would definitely not recommend
Salvadoreño Restaurante EL CHELE
The pupusas are amazing, and even though the menu offers a great diversity of Central American fare, we came here for the Salvadoran dishes. The ingredients were fresh, service was quick and friendly, and everything we tried was delicious. This is by far our favorite Salvadoran restaurant, and we hope to return soon.
Good food and service with friendly staff. Price is also very reasonable.
Haven Hot Chicken
Had a Garlic Parmesan Chicken sandwich. It was very good. Hot food hot. Fresh. Could use a little more of the garlic parm flavor. Still very good. Banana pudding - ok. Not enough banana pieces or vanilla wafers in it. Service was friendly and efficient. Thank you.
Daniel’s service was amazing he’s so knowledgeable on the menu the food was just right. I came in with my friend and mentioned it was her birthday and he made her feel special.
Taste of Brasil
It's a small, clean place with simple average food. Has a buffet that you are charged $8.99/lb. If you want any meat other than the 2 or3 or so, on the buffet such as a very thin sirloin steak, it's an extra charge. I ordered a medium rare steak (thickest available) and was served a medium to medium well steak about 1/2" thick. It was pretty bland other than the garlic seared on it. Came with almost sauteed onions on top. The watermelon was very salty, potato salad had a fair amount of mixed vegetables, was not a fan. Bottom line- no, I don't have plans to return.
Great food, reasonably priced. Legit Brazilian grub.
American Steakhouse
This was my first time here. I expected more from the previous reviews that I read. The porterhouse steak that I ordered was full of fat and gristle. Definitely a lower quality cut of meat. The sides were also a little over cooked. After reading the reviews, I was looking forward to a decent salad bar but was told AFTER I made my purchase that the salad bar was closed so I had to settle for a sparse pre made salad. I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of 1 because it was clean which I definitely appreciate. All in all, I think there are much better options locally for a decent steak.
24 oz Porterhouse was cooked perfectly. Juicy and delivered to the table nice and hot. Friendly and extremely nice associates. Clean restaurant. Baked potato was great. Corn on the cob was soggy/ overcooked. Salads a little small. Great dessert selections and tasty. Recommend you save a few dollars for a good dining experience. When you are craving a quick steak ( porterhouse ) and a potato and don't want to drive 25 miles to West Haven or train it 35 miles to NY City, this place is the " Any port in a storm " place to go.
Shu Restaurant
We have been here 4 times already. So far, this is the top authentic Chinese cuisine I have ever tried. Following are my favorites and must try dishes: -> Fried egg with Tomato soup -> Twice cooked chicken and Fish -> Fried rice with Yibin pickles. -> Mongolian Beef -> Aspargus and scallion The service was really good and the food was prepared very quickly too. I would definitely recommend this to all.
Hard to go wrong with Shu. We've ordered carry out from them a few times, but this time decided to go in for dinner. It was fairly empty on a Thursday, around 5:30pm, but that's understandable, considering the circumstances. They had every other table set, so there was plenty of social distancing. My daughter had the scallion pancakes and the fried gyozas, and she polished off both of those. I had Kung Pao Jumbo Shrimp, which was good (could've been a bit more spicier). Shu will always be our go to.
Edo Korean Japanese Restaurant
2024 update: No change, except it's even more expensive now, and the quantity is even more ridiculous! One small piece of Tamago, $4.99. One small piece of imitation crab, 4.99. Miso soup, a bit watered down. Fish on rolls was so thin you could see through it, but not even taste it, all for $14.99 each! Total bill for two people that left hungry? $67.00! Won't try a third time. It's absolutely ridiculous! There should be a law against restaurants this bad. 😲🫤☹️🤣 Can not recommend on any level. Avoid. 2022 review: Obscenely expensive. The price of the meal was outrageous for the quality and quantity of food served. The "Princess Roll" ordered was $12.99 and was mainly cucumber with a hint of apple. The crab inside was so scarce that it could not be tasted. Miso soup would have been better if made with instant soup mix available at any Japanese food store. One very thin piece of Tamago (egg) was $2.99. The waitress served it cut diagonally, then informed me that it was actually 2 pieces. 🤣 The Yukgaejang, a spicy beef soup, ($15.99) was absolutely tasteless. No spice, no taste, no flavor. I left hungry, $45.00 lighter, and feeling a bit "ripped off." Without doubt, the worst Korean meal we've ever eaten, anywhere. I can not recommend this restaurant on any level. There are too many other good choices in the area.
Always my go to food after a long tiring day at work. Prices went up but it’s still worth it! Bibimbop is really good together with the sauce. Side dishes are also good and can always ask for more. Overall, good food! Just wished the price was a little small.
Vedas Indian Cuisine Norwalk
I had been craving Indian food for so long, but holy cow am I glad I found this place!! It's in a small little area, but definitely feels like a hole in the wall, but that just means the restaurant spends more on making good food! The flavors were all just so strong and impactful, which is pretty much everything I want from Indian food.
Very delicious 😋, I was looking for a restaurant late hours on a Sunday and stumbled across this place. It definitely was great experience inside and out and the food 🍲 tasted refreshing. Happy I stopped dined in here
CRANBURY DELI
The store just had a bunch of upgrades and I am glad to see it. Excited for the markets continuied sucess as a very local independent grocery store. The staff is always helpful and friendly. The product selection and butcher shop are even better as well as the deli department.
Inside the humble and friendly privately owned Cranberry Market lies an exception Italian deli. Two inch thick rare roast beef is my favorite. All may expertly and quickly to your liking. Excellent.
Happy Wok
My go-to Chinese restaurant. I take out from here every week. Favorites include their shrimp with lobster sauce (although occasionally not as good, I suspect their good chef is off on those days, lol), Hunan chicken, Szechuan tofu.
Small place, great food. Moved to Wilton earlier this year and I had my Chinese food spots in Norwalk, Stamford and Darien. Ended up ordering food here because it is near a lot of other stores, pleasantly surprised. Food was delicious! One time on a busy night they messed up my order, someone took the wrong bag and they gave us their order. They realized it and called us back, I was a little annoyed but mistakes happen. They gave us the right order and I went to give them the order back and they insisted we keep it and apologized. Sweet and Sour Chicken, Dumplings and Wings are my favorite.
Mama Chow
If you like authentic Asian food - especially Malaysian food, this is a place you cannot miss! We were driving from NY to Rhode Island with our kids and relatives from Bangkok. We decided to stop over for lunch along the way and was pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem! To be honest, I was skeptical as I did not find any good (and very pricey) Asian food in NY! Came into the restaurant and met Kim the owner/chef and his whole family who runs this place! Little did we know that Kim was previously an executive chef for large hotel chains and had travelled the world. His idea for Mama Chow is to introduce Asian cuisine to his restaurant focusing on fresh yet high quality ingredients to bring out the simple authentic flavours of Asia! We had Kon Loh Mee (KLM) - egg noodles with juicy BBQ pork and pork wonton dumplings, Lard Na (in Thai or in Cantonese they call it Wat-Tan-Hor) - fried flat rice noodles with silky smooth seafood sauce, seafood laksa (ramen noodles in coconut curry broth and fresh seafood with large Tiger prawns), char kway teow (fried flat rice noodle with a distinct Malaysian wok fried flavour), Nasi goreng - Malaysian/ Indonesian fried rice. Kim also served us his special dishes lor mai Kai (glutinous rice with steamed with chicken and mushrooms - a local dish usually served for breakfast in Malaysia) and steamed aubergine! Not only was the food delicious, the hosts were amazing! Such generous and friendly family! We had such a memorable meal here! Highly recommended to all to visit Mama Chow and experience it for yourself! Food taste so good, you have to try it to know it! P/s: ask for Sambal to go with your dishes and don’t miss out on the waffles and yam ice cream - if your tummy is still asking for more!
I am blown away by this restaurant, the meal was packed with flavor and then some more. For appetizers, we ordered the kale salad (so delicious), the edamame (must order, I don’t know what seasoning is on here, but it’s crack and I want more of it), the Vietnamese spring rolls (purely amazing), and the mushroom dumplings (melting with flavor). Honestly next time I go, I’m going to order the entire appetizer menu and skip on the entree. What a great way to taste many different things and share plates with your friends. As an entree I got the special summer noodles, which was a vermicelli cold salad bowl with pork, veggies, and the spring rolls. Whether you do take out or dine in, this place must not be missed. It’s absolutely so delicious. If I lived in Westport, I would come eat here every week.
