Hunan Impression
Great service, dishes came very quickly, server was responsive when we asked for something. Although Hunan cuisine is known for being very spicy, they definitely toned the spice level down to suit the locals. We asked for less spicy which was perfect for our likings. People eating at our table were from Taiwan, Wuhan, 潮汕 for references. Every dish was absolutely delicious and makes you crave more. The fried intestines were my favorite, not even a tiny bit of off flavor, they cleaned it to perfection.
This authentic Chinese restaurant offers generous portions, and the food is absolutely delicious. Every dish is full of flavor, making it a fantastic choice for anyone craving traditional Chinese cuisine.
China Stix
Unlike ordinary Chinese restaurants in the United States, I was so satisfied because the scent of the dish was strong or not too salty. Especially, appitaizer and the soft tofu dish was really delicious, but orange chicken tasted a little unexpected. We were a little worried about ordering too many dishes, but we finished our plates. When we went, we were relatively free and they looked pretty kind. I have a revisit intention, and I recommend you to visit.
I've been coming to this restaurant since the late 90's, and there has never been a time that I can remember, when I've had a bad meal here. The siblings Frank and Lilly, who started the restaurant with a vision of bringing authentic Chinese cusine to Santa Clara, have withheld it's commitment, prestige, and status in the community. The service is always consistent and the wait staff is like family, especially Hugo, he has seen me and my brother grow up since teenagers. I'm so proud of this establishment, keeping a float, as all the smaller mom and pop shops around them in the Plaza have all gone away. If you are from Santa Clara, and don't know about China Stix, you live under a rock.
Koi Palace - Milpitas
Always busy and crowded. We (2 people) came here at 12:45pm and waited for about half an hour to be seated. Ordered a lot of traditional dim sum that we will usually order at similar restaurants. The food is good but not that impressive. Some of the dishes are a bit too sweet for me. The service is really efficient. And the portion size is big. For 2 people, 4 dishes are definitely enough. Overall it is worth a visit.
Attended a banquet dinner last weekend. The food is delicious and very authentic Cantonese style. Always love their dishes and quality of food. The service team was great, frequently changing dishes throughout the night. Great restaurant for celebration and their dim sum is also very good. Highly recommend giving this restaurant a try if you are looking for good Cantonese style dishes.
Taste
The food is great but it’s really expensive. Would be 5 stars if it was a bit cheaper. for example, the sweet and sour dish was $40 and wasn’t a huge serving. another reason why it’s 4 stars is because someone in my party is deathly allergic to pine nuts and they don’t list their allergens. chinese dishes aren’t usually cooked with pine nuts so it would have been nice to know they were in the dish.
Great Chinese food! They do really good spicy food, but their other dishes are really good. This time we got the cumin lamb and it was delicious! Would recommend if you’re looking for a Chinese restaraunt in Palo Alto. Service is good. They were attentive in taking our orders and making sure we got everything we needed. I don’t think we waited too long to order, get our food, or get the check. The inside is pretty. They have many Chinese decorations so it feels very nostalgic of a classic Chinese restaurant. As for seating they have indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating have the heater stands. Parking: There are many parking garages in Palo Alto so it’s not too hard for us to find parking
Jade Cathay Chinese Restaurant
Large portions but on the expensive side so you definitely need to go with others when trying their dim sum items. Plenty to choose from by using their QR code to order. Check your items print out because the app is a bit sensitive and it’s hard to tell if the order went through. I couldn’t tell from the app. It’s pretty quick with plenty of parking and seating.
If you're craving delicious Chinese cuisine in a cozy and welcoming environment, Jade Cathay Restaurant truly stands out. This delightful restaurant combines a warm ambiance with a diverse menu that satisfies both traditional and contemporary tastes. A highlight of the dining experience is undoubtedly their Dim Sum, served fresh and teeming with variety. Personal favorites include the Baked BBQ Pork Buns, BBQ Pork Pastries, and the flavorful Salt and Pepper Fish Fillet—each dish is crafted with care and packed with mouthwatering flavors. Other offerings, including an array of fried rice, fresh vegetables, hearty porridges, and a variety of seafood dishes, are equally delightful and packed with flavor. The service at Jade Cathay is equally exceptional. Grace, the ever-cheerful owner, adds a personal touch to the experience. Her warm smile and thoughtful gestures, like surprising long-time customers with extra treats, create an atmosphere that feels more like visiting family than dining out. Conversations with Grace are as enjoyable as the food itself—her dedication and kindness leave a lasting impression that warms the heart. With its blend of delectable dishes and a genuinely welcoming vibe, Jade Cathay is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking authentic Chinese cuisine. Highly recommended!
DH Noodles & Grill 敦煌兰州牛肉拉面
First time having the Brown Sugar Glutinous Rice was yummy. Soft chewy sticky rice in a dark brown sugar sauce topped with crushed peanuts. Sauce tasted like molasses. It looked like it would be very sweet but was just perfect. The Signature Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup was also good with light broth. It had spicy chili oil for the mild spicy flavor and tender slices of beef. The Lamb Kabobs were more chewy than soft but still good, not too spicy. Skip the crinkle fries. Scallion Pancake with Slice Beef was also yummy. They spread a sweet sauce in the pancake layers. Good value. Nice staff. Food took about 10 minutes to come out from the kitchen.
If you’re looking for traditional, delicious Northwest Chinese food, then DH is a MUST-TRY! My wife and I come here almost every two weeks, and honestly, it feels like a flavor trip straight to Northwest China (my wife’s hometown)—about 90% authentic, which is super impressive! The menu offers a great selection of noodles, grilled items, and regional specialties. Every dish we’ve tried—from hand-pulled noodles to perfectly seasoned lamb skewers—has been consistently delicious. The portions are very generous; 3 dishes here easily covers both lunch and dinner for the two of us. Spending $50-$60 for such amazing food with large portions is truly a great deal in the Bay Area.
Mala Town 自选麻辣烫
5-Star Review for Mala Town My friends and I had an incredible dinner at Mala Town, and I can’t recommend it enough! The service was outstanding from start to finish. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for a night out. The food was absolutely delicious, with bold flavors that left us all impressed. We did have a minor issue with one of the meats being a bit too chewy, but when we mentioned it to our waiter, they handled it with utmost courtesy. Not only did they promptly replace it with a different meat, but they also provided a generous portion, which was above and beyond what we expected. The entire staff was attentive and made our experience truly enjoyable. Mala Town nailed the combination of great food, excellent service, and a vibrant vibe. It’s a must-visit for anyone craving tasty hotpot! Highly recommended!
If you enjoy hot pot, love picking out your own ingredients, and appreciate having your meal cooked for you, then Mala Town is the perfect spot! 🍲 It’s a unique dining experience that might remind you of Mongolian BBQ—except instead of grilling, your hand-picked raw ingredients are cooked in a flavorful soup. Unlike an all-you-can-eat setup, though, you fill your bowl once, and it’s weighed before cooking. My bowl came in at 1.7 pounds, and I was pleasantly stuffed! The only challenge for first-timers is figuring out just how much to grab—it takes a little trial and error to get it right. 🤔 The selection is impressive, with a wide variety of fresh vegetables and meats to choose from. There’s a smaller assortment of fish balls, but they do offer shrimp, which is a nice touch. They also have a few “exotic” animal parts for the adventurous eaters! The soup itself is the star—absolutely delicious and bursting with flavor. 🌟 However, they tend to cook the food quite thoroughly, so the meat can end up a bit dry and tough. Even so, the taste still shines through. Props to the condiment bar, which offers a great range of options—not just spicy sauces, but thoughtful ingredients to enhance your meal. Plus, they provide complimentary water or sweetened tea, which is a refreshing bonus. 🥤 A word of caution: this place gets incredibly busy! After 5:30 PM on weekends, be prepared for lines stretching out the door. My advice? Arrive early to beat the crowd and enjoy a more relaxed meal. ⏰
YGF Malatang
I went with my Chinese friend, and it was absolutely incredible. The food was so good it blew my mind. We spent around $45, which included 1 pound of food (priced at $15 per pound) and two drinks. I loved being able to customize everything and pick all the ingredients I wanted—it made the experience even better. I asked the staff about the spice levels, and they warned me that the extra spicy was really intense. As a Korean, I opted for the regular spicy this time, and honestly, it wasn’t very spicy at all—probably mild by Korean standards. Next time, I’m definitely trying the extra spicy! The ingredients were super fresh, and there was plenty of parking, which was really convenient. The place seems pretty popular. We didn’t have to wait, but I can see there being a line during busy lunch hours. Also, there’s a fantastic boba spot nearby! Grabbing a drink there after your meal is the perfect finishing touch. I’ll absolutely be going back—it was just that good!
Came here about maybe two weeks ago? Although the line for it was quite long, I do think it was worth the wait. I got the tomato broth and it was so savory and delicious. I actually prefer this tomato broth over the tomato broth in one of the other malatang places nearby. I also think their signature broth is quite delicious. Good selection of noodles, meats, and toppings. I really enjoyed dining here and despite the hectic dinner rush, the staff was pretty organized. I will come back again and recommend this place!
Danacious Dumplings (Dana包子铺)
This is a super legit bao shop and a gem of the Bay Area! Feel so lucky to live here with such diverse and authentic cuisine. Note: it’s only a pick up and go spot now, no longer any seating. But you could try eating next door at the 7 leaves boba place, no one’s ever said anything before. I love the dumplings even more than the bao buns because they pick up the vinegar sauce better! Highly recommend the vinegar sauce. For the baos most of the time they are ready to go but if you want hot dumplings (instead of picking up frozen) you need to call 10 mins in advance to give the shop time to boil them for you. Go now!!
Yoooo!!! The dumplings here were on point! I had to grab some before my flight took off and I wanted to grab the cold noodles but, didn't have time or room in my stomach for them. Definitely recommend this place! Next time I come I'm getting me a whole lot of cold noodles.
China Delight
Did take out - portions are good but the cooking can only be described as Western version of Chinese menu - some missing spices and overall was sweet to our tastes
China Delight has delicious food, kind people & great service. You can eat in, or call ahead & pick up your food. Their food is clean, fresh & always cooked to order. My favorites are Honey Walnut Prawns, Vegetable moo shoo, Fried Rice, General's Chicken, Dry Sauteed String Beans, Mixed Vegetables, Chicken w/ Orange Peel, I could go on but you get the idea. They also serve beer & wine.
Soong Soong Restaurant
We had the bamboo shoot soup with pickled and fresh streaky pork, salt and pepper pork chop, steamed sea bass, and sautéed snow pea sprout. Everything was tasty and made me feel like home. I haven't had these types of dishes in a while! The soup really warmed me up, the sea bass was delicious, and I really liked their snow pea sprout.
Extremely tasty authentic northeastern Chinese food. Good portions for sizes. The crepe rolls were very similar to the ones from China, quite large as well. The dough stick is super deep fried and crispy. We enjoyed the soups/congees as well, especially the lamb soup which is hard to find elsewhere. Server was nice as well though I think we scared him with how much we ordered 😌
Shanghai Delight
Authentic Shanghai food, which is hard to find in this area. Drunken chicken, stired fried eel, sweet and sour fish, etc. Exellent chef skills. Portions are big and prices are reasonable. Service is great. Highly recommended.
Reasonable delicious mom & pop restaurant- everything is yummy, generous portions & just a wonderful friendly restaurant. Went back again & definitely will return !! Loved their salt pepper pork chops, eel… everything !!!
