Town of dumpling
Worst Dumplings Ever - Don't Waste Your Money I really regret ordered 100+ dollars food from this place. They just don't know about making dumplings. The dumplings were awful — the filling was a weird mix of bland ingredients that didn’t taste like anything it should be and not fresh at all. It was as if they didn't put correct ingredients together and without any thought for flavor. We could barely finish one bite before throw them away. To make matters worse, the dishes didn’t even match their names. I ordered “xie ke huang,” supposed to be some really crunchy cake with nice fillings but what I got was completely off, looks like some frozen beans cakes. All the other dishes the texture was terrible. The chili boil fish looks terrible in a huge tin pan, not many pieces floating in a very diluted sauce water. Looks like someone's left over. We ended up throwing away all of the food. Especially after we got some good ones from another place(yuan bao jiao zi) close by. Honestly, it wasn’t even worth trying to salvage. I don’t know what they were thinking, but they clearly have no clue how to make dumplings or other dishes. I would not recommend this place to anyone. If you're looking for decent dumplings, keep looking because this place is a complete fail.
They have a pretty big menu, so one can easily come back and not get tired of the food. Normally restaurants that specialize in dumplings have much smaller menus. Portion size is significantly smaller than Blue Sky Cafe and some traditionally pan-fried dishes are deep fried here like the green onion pancake, but otherwise we like it!
Peking Alley
Wanted to try something new and checked out this restaurant for northern Chinese cuisine. We got the scallion pancake with beef, jianbing with fried dough, and mayonnaise shrimp. The scallion pancake with beef was really good with the sauce and the cucumbers, the mayo shrimp had too much flour but the pieces of shrimp were very large, the jianbing was good but the fried dough was so large that it filled us up fast. The staff was super nice, the portions were very big but the flavors could be better.
Authentic and delicious food! The owners are also extremely nice and friendly, highly recommend.
Hongry Kong
Love the frozen pastry that we can bake at home. So fresh and my family loves it. We also tried the sticky rice, taste good too. Highly recommend if you miss the Hong Kong pineapple bun and egg tarts.
Support small businesses! Where you can find quality handcrafted food. I loved everything I’d ordered. From dim sum, milk tea, white sauce, marinated pork ribs and chicken feet, baked egg custard, to specialty traditional Hong Konger soup of the day! I cannot express enough how grateful I am to have experience this taste again, I left HK back in 2006. This place tasted like home, my childhood, I wonder if they are from Kwun Tong too! Thank you Hongry Kong for delivering amazing memories to me. I had already placed my second order. Spread the word out, hope you continues with success!
Gin Mon Chinese Restaurant
I had a great experience at this restaurant. The hospitality was excellent, and the place was very clean. We ordered Mongolian beef, vegetable chow mein, and orange chicken. The portion sizes were quite large; I believe each dish is enough for two people. The Mongolian beef was tender and delicious with a nice spicy kick. The orange chicken was fantastic. The vegetable chow mein was good, but I found the noodles to be a bit too firm for my taste.
Nice place with good service, serving Asian food. I loved the decor and relaxed atmosphere inside. We ordered potstickers for starters and those were great. Particularly the soy sauce was tasty 😋. The main course has a lot of scope for improvement. We ordered the Gin Mon chowmein and the kung pao chicken. Portion sizes were great but would be amazing with more flavor.
Cheung Hing Seafood & Dimsum
Overall good foods and good service! Since it’s the Lunar new year season, no more crab and lobster noodle specials. The Lunar new year combos are expensive. But the family combos look like a good deal in the normal menu. We ended up ordering our favorite individual dishes so we could have all we like. The overall prices are reasonable, and the foods are delicious! I highly recommend the lobster noodle as it tasted fresh and delicious that I didn’t have it in other restaurants with the similar price range. And the service is much better than the average Hong Kong restaurants! Besides, it’s popular here so come early and reserve before you go. We reserved at 5 pm and the restaurant became crowded very soon! My family and I had a good time here! Highly recommend!
Pretty authentic Hong Kong dim sum. We came here twice and their dim sum was always on point. The restaurant was always super busy during daytime for dim sum hours. (It got less crowded at dinner though.) Be prepared to wait quite a while during busy hours. There’s always a long line. Once seated, you can choose either from the dim sum cart or write the number on the dim sum flyer to order. They are quite understaffed, so sometimes you cannot get your request fulfilled right away. The dim sum was really delicious and they had a good selection. Our favorite was obviously shrimp dumplings (Har Gao), but the other dishes were also tasty. Their crispy shrimp rice rolls were good, but I personally liked the Fried tofu with XO sauce. Their dessert was also great. The mango pudding was not too sweet. It’s a good dim sum place in the Peninsula.
Blue Sky Café
So delicious! My first time trying here. It blows my mind. Beef stew with bean curd is really good. Hand-tipped chicken is also really good. Clay pot rice is supreme. We tried two flavors — Myself alone finished one pot. The service is also good. The staff is very friendly. I heard there is always a line. It is a small setting with 7-8 tables. At 1:40 pm, We waited for 30 mins when 6 parties before us. So do your own math. But I have to say it is worth it.
Great food and friendly staffs! Have been ordering from this place 5 times in a month since I first tried this place. The food is authentic and delicious. We love ordering online and doing pickups so we don’t need to wait in the long line!
FEY Restaurant
I love this place! It’s great to get traditional Chinese food. We also order their takeout occasionally and that’s been great too. Some of my favorites dishes include their steamed fish, stir fry eggplant, and spicy beef tendon . I also like their salt and pepper tofu, yang zhou fried rice, grilled cumin lamb skewers, egg drop soup. My boyfriend likes their hong shao rou, and the The service is good. I don’t feel like we ever wait too long to order or get the bill. The wait staff speaks both English and Chinese so if you prefer speaking in Chinese there’s always that option. The interior is nice. It feels like a traditional fancy Chinese restaurant. They have pretty light fixtures and sculptures on the wall. We usually sit in one of the booths, but they also have family-style seating in the back (big round tables with a lazy Susan). Parking: The parking lot’s pretty small in the back but we usually manage to find a spot. If not, Menlo Park downtown has a lot of free parking lots you can park at and then walk over
Food is amazing. Very very great value restaurant. Food came out hot and fast. I really enjoyed their noodles and their boiling pot dishes. It was filled with meat and fish and veggies-they dont skimp out on portion sizes. Its very good. The decor is fairly nice and has a mid-upscale feeling. Also super interesting is that they also offer hot pot and the prices for that are pretty reasonable too!
I Dumpling
It is a very cozy homemade dumpling place. Their steamed dumplings were delicious and fresh👌 Their Mapo tofu was different from what we usually have. The Tofu tastes hard; maybe they used silk tofu instead of firm tofu ☹️ So many people made an order and picked it up there, too. Indeed very popular place. The restaurant's service and atmosphere were not very good, so we did not feel comfortable.
I think i forgot to clean my front camera before taking these pics but THE FOOD AND EXPERIENCE WERE WAS 1000000/10!!! we got the beijing noodle, soup dumpling, wonton noodles, and cucumber and it was perfect for two 😗😗 the waitress was so considerate and sweet i lowkey want to be friend with her and the whole place is super homey. we were talking about arts and life and love it was a lovely afternoon
Crouching Tiger Restaurant & Bar
Crouching Tiger in Redwood City is a good choice for a big group gathering. They have a ton of spacious tables perfect for family-style dining, and our service was fantastic. The staff was friendly, attentive, and kept our water glasses full throughout the meal. Unfortunately, the food itself was a bit of a mixed bag. The Vegetarian Manchurian house special had a decent sauce, but the Manchurian itself was a bit soggy on the inside. It felt like it had been sitting in sauce for a bit too long. The egg fried rice with BBQ pork was another letdown. The rice was undercooked, and the BBQ pork itself was bland and lacked the smoky sweetness you would expect. The hot iron plate style chicken had so much potential, but the execution fell flat. They put the chicken on top of the crispy rice, which sounds good in theory, but it meant the rice got soggy almost immediately. By the time you got to the rice, it was all mushy. Overall, Crouching Tiger is a good option for a large group with friendly service, but the food needs some work. I'd recommend sticking with simpler dishes and maybe skipping the sizzling plate options.
Nothing special about the place considering the high reviews. The food was average and there wasn't really anything that stood out. You can get this kind of food anywhere. It had a clean but basic interior with two cute tiger statues outside.
US Chinese Food
I can't say enough about the food at this place!! SO GOOD and a great variety to choose from. Highly recommend
Better then, Panda Express!!! As soon as had ny first taste it was very fresh and savory. I had Green Bean Beff, Sweat and Sour Chicken accompanied with rice and chow mein. The price is about the same as Panda Express but the taste is way better and the serving is like double..
Chef Chen's
Food is good. The man standing out front taking orders is VIOLENTLY AGGRESSIVE AND RUDE!!!! He charges you extra for asking for napkins or sauce or spoons! He gets visibly mad. Dangerous and crazy
Delicious potstickers and great vibes. The owner is awesome too and has always been extremely nice.
Lotus Restaurant
Edit: Recently very short-staffed with a limited menu; completely different experience. Praying for Phil and hoping he is able to find folks to help him recover his restaurant into the place it has been and can be. Will be back in a few months. This place is amazing. The food is delicious and Phil makes you feel like family. It is truly a joy to dine here. Try his specials or ask for his recommendations! You won’t be disappointed. Even came here for my birthday because it just really hits the spot every time.
Have had two great meals here. The owner Phil is great and very hospitable - all around good vibes and even better food. Ordered the House fried rice and will return soon for it!
