A Pleasant Surprise at Serious Dumpling While exploring San Pedro Street in San Jose, I came across Serious Dumpling. As a dumpling lover, I had to see how "serious" they really were. They did not disappoint. The Garlic Noodles were packed with flavor, and the Garlic String Beans had just the right crunch. The Xiao Long Bao hit the spot, but the highlight for me was the Giant Soup XLB--truly a dumpling worth writing about. The wait staff was friendly and there is a definite vibe to the atmosphere. I'll definitely be back to try more!

Serious Dumpling: They Mean Business If you’re looking for dumplings that redefine expectations, Serious Dumpling is the place. Without exaggeration, these are the best dumplings I’ve had—hands down. Their flavors, textures, and attention to detail make for an unforgettable dining experience. Sweet Ube dumpling– A Showstopper It’s hard to surprise me, but the ube zlb completely blew me away. This dish is easily the best and most amazing thing I’ve eaten this year. The delicate dumpling skin encases a rich, slightly sweet yet perfectly balanced ube filling that melts in your mouth. It’s not just a dumpling—it’s an experience. If you visit, do not leave without trying this. Savory Beef Pancake – Crispy and Satisfying. The beef pancake is everything you want in a savory pastry—flaky, crispy layers wrapped around tender, flavorful beef and fresh cucumber. The balance between the crunch of the pancake and the juicy beef makes it an absolute must-order. Shrimp & Pork dumplings – Classic with a Twist The shrimp & pork dumpling is another highlight. The combination of juicy pork with a perfectly cooked shrimp peeking out of the dumpling makes for a fantastic bite. The broth inside is rich and flavorful, exactly what you expect from great soup dumplings. Cucumber Salad – Refreshing and Unique The cucumber salad was a surprising and refreshing contrast to the dumplings. It had a light, tangy, and slightly garlicky dressing that balanced out the richness of the other dishes. Definitely a great side to cleanse the palate. Service – Attentive and Friendly The staff was incredibly attentive and made sure everything was just right. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to provide recommendations made the experience even better. Final Thoughts Serious Dumpling truly lives up to its name. They take dumplings to another level with bold flavors and perfect execution. If you're even remotely into dumplings, this place is a must-visit. And again, do yourself a favor—get the ube ZLB. You won’t regret it!

Great sweet and sour chicken. The chicken pieces are really big which could be a plus or minus depending on how you like it, but the sauce was great, chicken not overcooked, and good fried rice. The place is tiny, but compared to other tiny Chinese takeout places, not stuffy and very clean. The hostess was very polite and I noticed that tables were bussed very quickly. This area of SJ / Santa Clara can be really hard to find good "basic" Chinese takeout, but if you're looking for all sorts of bite-sized pieces of chicken, beef or pork in a familiar variety of sauces, this is the best option I've found within a 10 minute drive of PayPal.

Ordered the below food from here a couple of days back through Uber East 1. Vegetable Fried Rice 2. Kung Pao Tofu I am going to be strictly honest here. I was highly disappointed with the quality and quantity of Vegetable Fired rice. It was not cooked properly. I tasted terrible, literally no flavors at all. I had to add all the kinds of flavors (even salt) by myself to make it edible. It costs pretty high for such low standard tasteless food. Kung Pao Tofu was just ok. One thing is for sure, I am never ordering food from here ever again.

Great service, dishes came very quickly, server was responsive when we asked for something. Although Hunan cuisine is known for being very spicy, they definitely toned the spice level down to suit the locals. We asked for less spicy which was perfect for our likings. People eating at our table were from Taiwan, Wuhan, 潮汕 for references. Every dish was absolutely delicious and makes you crave more. The fried intestines were my favorite, not even a tiny bit of off flavor, they cleaned it to perfection.

This authentic Chinese restaurant offers generous portions, and the food is absolutely delicious. Every dish is full of flavor, making it a fantastic choice for anyone craving traditional Chinese cuisine.

The Hunan Beef was very good with a tasty sauce and good quality meat. The Lemon Chicken was terrible, super thin, overdone, and served with a strange orange sauce rather than lemon. The pot stickers were decent and the pork fried rice quite good, but had almost no pork.

the food was pretty good, the honey walnut shrimp and beef with mushrooms was good, the rice and the potstickers could have been better but it was pretty decent. the soy sauce was a little old, but the food came out quickly. would only order those 2 plates again.

The food is fresh and freshly cooked, offering lunch portions that are definitely better than those at Panda Express. However, I found the sauces on the chicken, particularly the glaze, to be a bit too sweet—almost like there was too much corn syrup used as a sweetener. That said, the portion sizes are generous, and I really enjoyed the food. This isn’t a complaint; I think it’s a great option for good food at an affordable price.

Wow! What an amazing meal I just had ✨ the food here is Delicious! Def going to be coming here again. I got 3 egg rolls with this and a drink and the price was 22 bucks! What a delicious deal! 👌🏼 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Have a Saturday brunch at this location with some friends and is impressed with the elegant settings of the dining hall which indeed has the look of a place where nobility and the well-off people will be dining in. In general, the food is great as compared to other locations that are selling dim sum dishes. However, the waitresses managing the dim sum carts are a bit too pushy in promoting the various dim sum dishes to us which is still okay for me as they are polite even when doing so. My only gripe is that the price for a few slices of roast suckling pig is costing $36.00 which totally ramp up the whole cost of the meal for a group of three.

We love carts Dim Sum! The place is very big, and while the wait was long, it was totally worth it. They have a great variety of Chinese small plates, mostly steamed dumplings. The service was quick, and we got to try everything we wanted. We also ordered some noodles from the menu, which were great too!

I had the pleasure of dining at 575 Miishien, and it was an experience unlike any other. Specializing in miishien, a type of Yunnan-style rice noodle, this spot offers a rich and flavorful dive into Chinese regional cuisine that’s both comforting and exciting. The star of the show was the Wagyu Beef Cross-Bridge Miishien – incredibly tender slices of wagyu beef paired with a savory broth that had clearly been simmered to perfection. The broth had layers of flavor, and the noodles had that perfect silky-chewy texture. For those who love a little heat, the Small Pot Spicy Ground Pork Miishien hits the spot without overwhelming your palate.

I had a great experience at this Yunnan rice noodle restaurant! The broth was flavorful and rich, and the rice noodles had the perfect texture—soft but not mushy. The ingredients were fresh, and the portion size was just right. I especially loved the pickled vegetables and the variety of toppings available. The staff were friendly and the service was fast. I’ll definitely come back again!

Fuji Huoshao & Dumpling 0

I really like the beef huoshao here! Inside is juicy but soup isn't spilling out, outside is flaky. The lamb and 3 flavor dumplings were also good. I like how it's hot but not so hot I immediately burn my mouth. You can almost eat it immediately. The lamb soup was flavorful too if you like lamb. In general I'd come back again, it's a small little shop with very nice staff.

The dumplings are all handmade and fresh!!! As a huge fan of dumpling, this place is definitely authentic! We don’t favor the seaweed but everything else are all soooooo good!

I'd give this place zero stars if I could. They charge extraordinarily high prices for substandard food. I ordered a braised fish dish and when I took a bite the fish tasted like it had gone bad. When I went back to complain the cashier denied that the fish had spoiled and insisted that they only serve fresh seafood. Either they don't taste their own food or they're a disreputable business willing to sell rotting food to make a quick buck. Everyone knows the smell of near-rotting fish and I almost threw up eating it. The cashier offered to exchange the fish for a random dish of her own choice then warned me that she was being overly generous and that this replacement for rotting food will never happen again (of course, she didn't bother to ask if I had any allergies before handing me whatever she picked). Luckily, I wasn't allergic to any of the ingredients. Unfortunately, the cooking oil tasted like it hasn't been changed in a month (old and rancid), so I ended up throwing out the entire box of food. I remember when this place had different owners. There were fewer options but it was always fresh and decent quality. The new management is pushy, rude, marks up prices by 1000%, and sells rotten food. The interior of this restaurant now looks dingy and dirty and my plastic bag had a funky smell. I doubt if this place could pass any kind of unannounced Department of Health food safety inspection. Eat at your own risk!

They sell both ready to eat as well as frozen Chinese food for takeout only. It is not the cheapest but the portion size is pretty generous. What drew us to this place was their smoked chicken. And very often there is a long line of customers.

Small quaint location with great friendly staff. Food was good with authentic flavors and service was really fast! Can't ask for too much more

Wow this restaurant is one of my new favorites in the Bay Area. I didn’t want rate this place 5 stars to move it further away from 3.5 stars but everything about this restaurant is excellent. The service is super friendly and quick and the food is top tier. The honey walnut shrimp is one of the best I have ever had and their mushroom and green beans were also very delicious. Highly recommend coming here!

Large portions but on the expensive side so you definitely need to go with others when trying their dim sum items. Plenty to choose from by using their QR code to order. Check your items print out because the app is a bit sensitive and it’s hard to tell if the order went through. I couldn’t tell from the app. It’s pretty quick with plenty of parking and seating.

If you're craving delicious Chinese cuisine in a cozy and welcoming environment, Jade Cathay Restaurant truly stands out. This delightful restaurant combines a warm ambiance with a diverse menu that satisfies both traditional and contemporary tastes. A highlight of the dining experience is undoubtedly their Dim Sum, served fresh and teeming with variety. Personal favorites include the Baked BBQ Pork Buns, BBQ Pork Pastries, and the flavorful Salt and Pepper Fish Fillet—each dish is crafted with care and packed with mouthwatering flavors. Other offerings, including an array of fried rice, fresh vegetables, hearty porridges, and a variety of seafood dishes, are equally delightful and packed with flavor. The service at Jade Cathay is equally exceptional. Grace, the ever-cheerful owner, adds a personal touch to the experience. Her warm smile and thoughtful gestures, like surprising long-time customers with extra treats, create an atmosphere that feels more like visiting family than dining out. Conversations with Grace are as enjoyable as the food itself—her dedication and kindness leave a lasting impression that warms the heart. With its blend of delectable dishes and a genuinely welcoming vibe, Jade Cathay is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking authentic Chinese cuisine. Highly recommended!

2-3 stars objectively but I want to put 4 stars for memories. You've been here; you know it; it's exactly the same. This location is cleaner and faster than in Mountain View. If you've never been, it's big cheap fast and crowded. Mostly Mexicans who call it Chinese, but it's Vietnamese. Dishes are mostly dough, some meat, and rarely any vegetables. It's not very good food or dining experience but it's comfortable. I'd recommend the taro fried dough with egg (warning contains peanut!) Or rice noodle soups. We always get a couple pounds of frozen meatballs and a cup of orange juice when we pay. It's the only reason we come anymore. Used to be $6 before the pandemic, but now it's $12 for a bowl.

The spicy beef sate rice sticks are fenomenal. All rice cake noodles are great, authentic, very flavory. Everything came in large portions and we couldn’t finish three plates between the three of us. We definitely want to go back!
