Kam Lok Restaurant
Wonderful to hear that this restaurant has been around since 1885 (however it was under a couple of different names)! The location is a bit hidden as it’s located on basement level. The other customers who were dining here appear to be locals who come here regularly. I hope this restaurant stays as long as they can! Great honest Cantonese food! We really loved the Pork Ribs in Spicy Salt (crispy & flavourful)! They also have lunch specials here. Their set menu are such great value if you’re a seafood lover.
Kam Lok is a classic SF Chinatown basement style restaurant. I've eaten here in the past and didn't post a review. Tonight, I had the runny egg shrimp chow fun $12. This was delicious with ample wok flavor. This dish can be challenging to make because chow fun and egg are kind of plain. That gravy has to be good. Their menu is limited if you are ordering fried rice, noodles and etc. It is more family style dishes orientated with only one page for rice and noodles. Not on the menu is crispy Hong Kong style noodles, which I love. If you ask, they will make it for you. So, don't rely too much on the written menu. Service was excellent.
Great Wall 2 Chinese Restaurant
I ordered sesame chicken, But really wasn’t chicken. The more you chew it, it turns to fine strings of fiber or something whatever it was it wasn’t no type of meat. Be careful what you put in your body at places like these different restaurants
First time trying this restaurant. We had wantons it was delicious. The food was ready quick and they were friendly.
Panda Express
They do not accept the Panda Rewards and the food presentation was sloppy with slow service to top it off. Not very impressed. Also, so fountain drinks, just bottled soda.
It depends on when you go but there is a very real chance that you will wait an hour to get the worst Panda Express you've ever had. The workers are exhausted because they're SWARMED by people (not their fault). Usually this happens at lunch hour. This is a great use case for automated food technology that supplements human workers. Its not fair to the employees to expect them to fill this scale of demand and it's not fair to the consumer to ask them to accept such a poor quality of goods at the usual price. Automation here will supplement human workers not replace them.
Panda Express
As someone that has had Panda Express throughout the nation and a few outside the country, this is the worst location I’ve eaten at. My family had given it the benefit of the doubt, more than we should have just because it was close to our home. It’s either the food was carelessly made (usually the honey walnut shrimp) or the attitude of the employees. Not to mention the manager, Manny or Manuel, that I have interacted with twice. Once, when he rung my order incorrectly. I ordered a plate with a premium entree. So that would be the price of a plate + $1.50. This location manager charged me for a bigger plate and the premium entree price. I politely informed him that it was incorrect on the screen as for the prices are indicated on the menu board. He told me that the price on the screen was the price of my meal and that it didn’t go based on that, but what is on the register. I was in disbelief and didn’t want to waste any more time arguing his logic. The second time was this evening. There was a line to place orders. The same manager was serving the orders. A few minutes pass and someone that was being rung up was told that they only accepted cash. No staff nor the manager announced that they were cash only. We were informed by that one customer what was about to pay. Everyone ahead of us were rightfully upset. They have waited a great amount of time in line to only be informed that the location was only taking cash. There were no signs indicating so either. The manager yelled defensively to the line of customers, “Do you see how busy we’re are? We just found out!” He didn’t suggest any alternatives on how payments could be made or anything. What a sour attitude. This will be the last time I dine at the location. If you’ve reached the end of my lengthy rant, I hope you can imagine how disappointing it has been at this fast food place that undeservingly pays their managers a hefty salary.
They gave my order to a random then made my order again but gave me small ah portions. I’ve never gotten that little amount of food at a panda like y’all coulda hooked it up for making me wait an extra 15. All of y’all Fake and slow. I’ve worked on cars faster than the 3 people prepping food. They were all nice tho.
Eighty Eight Cafe
Used to be our go to place for Chinese. We ordered at least every week. Since they've raised their prices so much it's just not affordable for our family of 4. One box of combination appetizers went from $10+ to $15.95. It's too bad because the service was great and they always accommodated us for substitutions. Also the fact that they don't deliver anymore is disappointing. We really miss the 88..
88 used to be a small "hole in the wall" type place for easy pick up. I'm not sure if they changed owners, but the food quality has gone downhill. Even a basic plate ribs. rice, chicken fingers and crab Rangoon is so bland that you don't want to save anything for leftovers. $40.00 I'll never get back (and won't return to).
Jiangnan Chinese Cuisine
"Buy one get one free" portion is smaller than the usual... about half the size. Noodles are a little too salty.
Super delicious! It's a hidden gem with lovely staff, a modern/hip design, and pretty plates. Also, they offer Mapo Tofu without Beef which I was happy about. I'm definitely coming back here, especially for the Pickled Cabbage and Fish Fillet soap. Next time, I'll try the cold cucumber dish ☺️
New Oriental House Restaurant
The food was very hot and delivered on time but I didn't enjoy the chicken wings, I don't know if they are just dry and rustic all the time but I didn't like them and the Crab Rangoon I feel like I've had better than those! Also to expensive!
I ordered Pepper Steak and rice and they basically gave me peppers and rice that’s sad. You give me a cup of meat for $10? I don’t want rice and peppers the cost of the meat you provided is cheaper at the Asian market, it’s a slap in the face. They put your meal in a paper bag to cover the fact that they are given you less than you paid for. I’ve ordered the wings it said **at least 16 and it’s a small box with 5-8 wings each time.
Golden Palace Restaurant
We ordered; shrimp fried rice - 2/10 Scallion pancake - 3/10 Pork fried rice -5/10 Chicken wings -6/10 Overall food quality is not great. Mr chefs is right down the block, the food quality is a 10 compared to this restaurant. Save yourself time and go to Mr Chefs. The scallion pancake was stale and tasted days old. Too greasy. The shrimp fried rice was barely fully cooked. Discoloration was its best friend. The chicken wings were the only decent item. As you see I ate them pretty well. I called and they offered credit, so service is great.
All the food had a funny taste, my teriyaki beef sticks was skimpy , my beef low mein looks like someone else’s noodle left overs, the spear ribs was dry along with the chicken wings and nothing had any type of flavor. The crab Rangoon’s had no rangoo in it..was starving after work and I think rather have starved. Cost was $27 for 2 plates ( $13 per plate) of disappointment. They need to do better. Bright side; very friendly owners.
Dragon Chef
I was really hoping to enjoy this place since it is very close to my commute, but it is extremely bland. We ordered cashew chicken and it appears that they just took chicken and vegetables and boiled them. The chicken is pale white, flavorless, and still has the fat that usually cooks off in the pan. The pork fried rice is fine but also quite plain. The staff were nice enough and the price is cheap but I am very disappointed by the food.
The lady at the front was nice. Food was ok, the beef teriyaki had too much baking soda so my tongue was tingling for a hot minute, the lo mein was over powered with onion and bean sprouts (couldn’t really taste anything besides the beansprouts), their crab Rangoon was really nice (I liked that it was fried in the sesame oil instead of regular oil, gave it a nice taste). As for atmosphere it was a turn off, there’s a rat trap at the door as soon as you walk in, broken tiles, spider webs, dirty walls. It’s very dry and humid, had to wait outside.
New Mei Garden
Today i buy food in this place and was horrible the rice no taste the egg fo youg was a disaster. Everything was tasteless like was cook two days ago and was to much money I wount be buy food there anymore. i do not recommend this restauran to a friend. Nasty food
Food was mediocre at best. Spring rolls and crab rangoons were over cooked and Shrimp Pad Thai was not even close to what it should be. Definitely would not order here again.
New Wong’s Chinese Take-Out Restaurant
I read the reviews they were horrible. I decided to give them a chance. I had a chicken Low mein and it had a funny smell and it looks like it’s not fresh, I also had the cream cheese thing that is suppose to have crab in it and there wasn’t any crab at all. I called and they were very non chalant about my order. This is my third time ordering here. The food is bad. Like really bad. Not fresh and there’s no seasoning at all. Not even a dog would eat that food. Save your money and go elsewhere. It’s bad.
This was my first visit to this establishment,Placed My Order Over The Phone ☎️ For Pickup. There was a 15min Wait. When I Arrived For Pickup The Environment Was Clean,Staff Was Friendly &Helpful,Fair Prices,The Food Was Hot& Fresh ,But The Parking Spaces Are Limited.
Beijing House Restaurant
Best Chinese restaurant on the South Shore. Family friendly. Plenty of parking. Clean, well lit, quaint and nicely decorated. Friendly, polite, courteous, professional and attentive staff. Great menu. Ordered the hot and sour soup, Beijing sesame shrimp, Hunan spiced fish fillet and beef with onions and green peppers. Absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. Definitely returning to try other items on the menu. Highly recommend.
We've come a few times over the past two years and it's a great experience everytime. The food is delicious. The service is quick & professional. The drinks are made very good. The fish tank is beautiful. The atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming. It's one of our favorite places to go for a nice night out.
