Hong Kong BBQ Dim Sum & Kitchen
It's okay. I was rather unimpressed by the food even though I absolutely loved the party trays from this restaurant. Essentially, if you want food, make sure you are ordering the salt and pepper chicken wings from this restaurant as a party tray. The dishes and dim sum are super underwhelming even though the prices aren't overtly unreasonable. The service was excellent and the area was comfortable though. I did notice they used the microwave and I will say that the food somehow was still a bit cold. I don't really care if the microwave was used but I wish the food was hotter.
Delicious hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant. First thing, this establishment is described as a dim sum restaurant. While they do have some dim sum, the selection is a bit limited. Just wanted to note that if you were planning on entertaining a full dim sum experience. Having said that, the Chinese food here is tasty. We had the House Special Chow Mein (crispy) and it was well-made (although, the dish included fish, which we weren't expecting, but the dish was still tasty). The Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings), gyoza, and baked pork buns were enjoyable as well. The restaurant is tucked away in an Asian grocery store, but it is a nice establishment with good Chinese food.
Ju Feng Yuan Dumpling Cafe
The restaurant is very small and by the timing of the kitchen I’m guessing the kitchen is even smaller. But wait— The food is 5 stars. So for that reason alone I would come back. It’s best to go earlier to beat the rush as food will take longer to arrive especially for a large party. The kitchen timing for food is on the slower side and dishes come out one at a time. So it’s not the fastest food service which doesn’t help if your party is hungry or has kids, which our party was and we had kids. The food was so slow that I didn’t have time to take pictures of all the dishes as we were hungry and devoured every dish that arrived at the table. The dumplings and XLB were all so delicious. The food is very authentic. I appreciate that they give every table a tablet to order our own dishes, as the tablet has images of all the food so it’s hard to mess up your own order. Conclusion, I would come again with 1 person max, for take out and during a non-busy time.
One of the best dumpling restaurants! Very substantial menu with dumplings, noodles, and authentic Chinese dishes. In addition to XLB, we enjoyed the sweet and sour pork, honey walnut shrimp, and spicy chicken. Haven’t had a bad dish here. Once sat down, the waiter will hand you an iPad to order. This is very efficient. The orders go into the kitchen immediately. Nice decoration with wall murals depicting Chinese cuisine. This is our 4th visit and will definitely continue to dine there.
Szechuan House
A hole in the wall type restaurant, perfect little spot for food for your family. I came here with mine after not wanting to wait for Pho nearby. Food: - Sesame chicken lunch special: 4/5 ⭐️, it was a little crunchy but chewy. The taste is so-so, not amazing and not the best. The portion is huge for the price so their lunch special is worth it! - Steamed fish filet: 10/5 ⭐️, it's delicious! it's my favorite dish and is now my comfort food that I doordash to my house often. I can't recommend this dish enough! - Mongolian beef: 4/5 ⭐️, the beef tasted so well reasoned, not super chewy just the right amount, and so delicious. - Chicken upside down noodle: 3.5/5 ⭐️, it's not very seasoned and a bit bland. The noodles were good and so were the chicken but I wish it was a bit more well seasoned to taste anything. Atmosphere and Service: the staff are extremely friendly, we had many questions on the seafood section of the menu and they were very patient and lovely! They gave good recommendations! The atmosphere of the restaurant is dim, rich and cozy. Overall, it's honestly a really good spot for the price and portion of the food. My family and I like it enough to want to come back again next time we're in the area!
Great place for Chinese fare. I've always enjoyed Szechuan style Chinese restaurants and this place doesn't disappoint. Very reasonable lunch specials that will fill you up. My server was polite and fast, all while getting my order exactly right. The idea that they automatically give you hot mustard and sweet red sauce with your appetizer is amazing. I had the crab Rangoon app, honey walnut shrimp lunch special that came with the oh so tasty egg drop soup. I also asked for crispy noodles for the soup and they were the best kind.
Quality Taste Pot
Easily the best tasting Chinese food I have eaten in a long time. Evenly cooked, flavorful, balanced with fresh ingredients and ample meats. Usually, Chinese restaurants saturate their food with salt, sugar, and rancid oil. That is not the case here. The food is VERY good. Clean restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff. Easy parking access I will definitely be returning with my whole crew 🦜🏴☠️ - Yar!!!
We came last night and it was packed. Food was great but the appetizer came late..the 2 main order was ahead from the appetizer anyway, still food was really good and generous servings. Only request is one server her hair was not so neat looking that it can fall on the food she serves. They have to tie their hair like a bun to prevent that. Her hair was all over. Presentable staff is important for preserve cleanliness. But to be fair, it is really delicious what they cook esp the vegetable shabu soup. A plus clean restroom!
Taste of Hunan 湘村人家
This Chinese restaurant is authentic and delicious with a high spicy level. We ordered some their top pick dishes, like smashed eggplant and century egg, spicy beef entrails, pork bun, and Hunan spicy beef. The eggplant and century egg was their first pick and tasted amazing, especially with rice. The other entrees were great, but I liked the top pick the most. The majority of entrees were highly spicy, but did not serve with rice. Rice was also not unlimited after ordering. Seats could be limited. We came here early, so no need to wait. But there was a long line when we left.
Food from Hunan it's spicy and I mean really SPICY. So if you don't like it or want to try ...be aware ..🌶️🌶️🥵 If you Finnaly try the spicy 🔥🥵 food will have some consequences in your stomach for a couple of days after visit the restaurant . Some older Chinese go there and they said it's not even so spicy as was in Hunan ..so imagine how it's there . They have pork, duck , 🦆 , beef options . Try the tofu and the Chinese sauces plates if you want something ligth and don't take the risk .. You will be missing a good experience .
Chung Hing
Cash only! Luckily I had cash on me that day. I wanted shrimp lomein for lunch so I googled it when I was in the area. What I got was not shrimp lomein (lunch combo #12). It was quite bland shrimp stir fry with celery and bean sprouts over fried wonton skins. The chow mein and fried rice were plain too. The lunch was cheap and I think maybe that's why it has all these great reviews. Food was not good. A lot of people were ordering the #1 combo with the char sui (bbq pork) so maybe I should have ordered that instead. The two older Asian ladies working there were nice and friendly to me. They were quick getting everyone's orders ready and the customers all seemed happy.
I ordered #4 to go and unfortunately I was not looking when the lady was putting the food in my to go box. When I got back to work and opened there was no pork. The #4 supposed to have roast pork, egg roll, lo mei. And fried rice. Not a good experience specially that I drive 15 mins to get it and I am not driving back to get my pork so basically I wasted $13 for no meat food!
Chin's Szechwan - La Jolla
I was skeptical about a "great" Chinese spot in La Jolla, but Chin's delivered in a serious way. The service was very slow to take our order, but once we got started, the service was great the rest of the night. The staff was warm and inviting, and they made sure we had everything we needed. We got the pan fried pork potstickers (solid - more dough-y than I prefer), tangerine beef (a little too fruit-forward with the glaze), Szechwan crispy pork (delicious), ku ting shrimp (a hit across the table) and spicy honey & sesame chicken (the crowd favorite of the night). Not pictured: crispy wontons and seafood fried rice (the table liked both). The space is small, but the portions are HUGE. Four of us were eating, and we took home at least half of three entrees. I'd love to return to try more savory dishes...and hopefully more veggies. Well done, Chin's!
Their food is great. Their spicy scale is 1 to 5 and the 5 is hot, I was not disappointed. Their chicken wings are delish. Be prepared to wait. It is a small dining area and very popular. take out order is a wait as well. They are not fast, but they hustle and it is worth it.
Mandarin House
This place has been my go-to Chinese restaurant for 30+ years. It’s so good and. Orbing has changed (in a good way)! The portions are huge; the flavors are delicious; they don’t skimp on the meat/don’t use a bunch of filler veggies; and the service is always so friendly and quick. I just love this place!
Dropped in for lunch. We heard this place can be busy. Lunch is a good time to go. Food was amazing! Better than expected. Thought we would have leftovers, but could not stop eating. Highly recommended. Nelson, GO BLUE
Village Kitchen家湘味
The sour and Spicy shredded potato was just so-so. The flavor was plain. I would not recommend it. The Chicken intestines and hunan stir fried pork are really spicy. They are good along with white rice. BUT they are BOTH SALTY. Really salty. You have to drink lots of water. Many people have recommended this Chinese restaurant and they think this is the best Chinese restaurant in San Diego. If so, I would say maybe Chinese restaurants here are less competitive than I expected. Or maybe three dishes is a small sample size. We need to try more dishes to have a fair review
I had 4 dishes all very salty. I’ll not plan to come back again ever. Only shrimp fry rice that we can eat not too much salty.
Ma's House
Just wow experience! I try to locate the authentic chinese halal places across the US and this was a hit. The location sign is dimly lit and hard to find but once you enter the restaurant they welcome you with a smile. Great Hospitality, helped me out with menu options. Here is the item specific feedback Pan Fried Dumplings were great. Goes well with the soy sauce Triple fried curry rice - More on the spicy side and I really liked it Jalapeno Sliced Chicken - The sauces in this was amazing. Highly recommended Noodle Soup - First time trying noodle soup and the broth was awesome Garlic Chicken with Jalapenos - Fried variation of the sliced chicken. Again Awesome. The sauce is spicy and tangy
Found this gem when I was trying to find halal spots in SD. The food was so gooood! Like besides being halal, this was one of the best Chinese spots I've tried. I'll definitely be going again. Also prices were great for the portions.
Tasty Noodle House
Our Chinese friend took us here, and below is our group’s review. Dishes marked with asterisks are our all-time favorites: 1. *Ginger Scallion Beef: 7.7/10 Slender, juicy beef with great flavor. 2. Sausage Fried Rice: 6/10 If you like pork and sausage, this one's for you! 3. *Beef Chow Mein: 7/10 Great flavor, but the noodle texture could be better. 4. *Garlic String Beans: 8.5/10 Perfectly seasoned, though we'd prefer the string beans to be crispier. 5. Xiao Long Bao: 7/10 Big and thick, but not as fresh or juicy as we expected. 6. Garlic Broccoli: 7/10 Good overall, but we were hoping for Chinese broccoli. 7. Pork Buns: 9/10 Crispy bottom, perfectly cooked dough, seasoned with green scallions, and stuffed with pork—what’s not to love? 8. *Hunan-Style Lamb: 9.5/10 A must-try for spice lovers—heavenly! Pairs perfectly with the sausage fried rice. 9. Honey Walnut Shrimp: 7.5/10 Candied walnuts cooked to perfection, with jumbo shrimp that are tasty, though the sauce was a bit too sweet.
Delicious Seafood pepper noodles and pumpkin pancake! We actually were going to the next door restaurant but saw quite a few people waiting outside this restaurant so we decided to try it. Most of the patrons were Asians. We just ordered what the next table had ordered which looked really good. That was a smart thing to do :-)
Steamy Piggy
Love coming here such yummy food! Customer service was top tier cam was a great host! The bulgogi bao and chili wontons are standout items, offering a delicious fusion of flavors. The restaurant’s playful decor and plant-filled patio add to the experience, though it can get busy, leading to longer waits. Parking in the area can be tricky, but the quality of the food makes it worth the trip. A great choice for those craving creative and tasty Asian-inspired dishes!
The kings of Convoy St. This place will blow you away. I tried a fried chicken bao and the bulgoggi wrap to start. Both really really good. Fresh and strong flavor without being overpowering. The piggy taco was one of the best I’ve ever had. Insanely juicy and tender. Amazing. A must stop for any San Diego foodie
