Sunshine HK Cafe is a true hidden gem for lovers of Asian cuisine. From the moment you step inside, the warm and attentive service sets the tone for a fantastic dining experience. The staff is incredibly welcoming, quick to offer recommendations, and always ready to ensure your experience is exceptional. The menu boasts an impressive selection of authentic Hong Kongese dishes, featuring everything from classic BBQ pork and fried egg on rice, and soup noodles with a selection of meats (or not.) One standout dish that truly stole the show for me was the crispy tofu in chili sauce—a perfect balance of crunch and heat. Beyond the incredible food, the cozy yet stylish ambiance makes this spot a great choice for both casual dinners and special occasions. Whether you’re a longtime fan of Hong Kong cuisine or simply looking to explore something new, this restaurant delivers an unforgettable experience. If you haven’t been yet, it’s time to add this place to your must-visit list!

My family came here for our first time on New Year's Day for brunch. There's so much to like about this place! This is one of our favorite Hong Kong cafes in the Bay Area. - Attentive service. Nice decor that reminds us of Hong Kong. - Updated holiday hours on website. Easy to find parking right next to restaurant. - Complimentary borscht soup - All the quintessential items on menu: congee, all-day breakfast (a plus!), HK street food/snacks, baked rice/spaghetti (good to have option of white rice or fried rice), sizzling platters, noodle soups, HK cafe beverages - Beef curry and rice was our favorite dish. Flavorful, actually a bit spicy (perfect!) - Mixed grill combo perfect for meat lovers or those with a big appetite! Delicious! Room for improvement: menu in Chinese, a little less sweet on the HK milk tea, more black pepper in black pepper sauce

Food: this Korean Chinese restaurant has the best tangsuyuk and jajang mien! All other dishes are great, absolutely recommend eggplant with garlic sauce and walnut prawns. I’d definitely want to come back and try the jjamppong spicy seafood noodle 😋 Service: they are welcoming and helpful. They serve very fast and nice as well! Ambiance: family style recommended. Come with a group of people so you can try multiple nice dishes here all at once!

Tong Soon is a Korean Chinese restaurant. Their food is always decent. We have been here for over 20 years. It is always consistent. Their handmade noodles are very good. Don’t order too many dishes because quantity is pretty big. Price is not cheap since it is a big dish.

Love this place! The food is amazing, and the elderly woman who took my order went into the kitchen to cook a delicious meal. Places like this deserve more appreciation. I will definitely be coming here often from now on. Best! 🍶🍛🍘🍚🍙🥡🧧🇨🇳🥢🥮

Update: If you want less salt ,or soy etc..just let them know. I require very little salt and they go far and beyond to accommodate. That’s why I go there. I haven’t been here in a while. Decent meals. Bigger portions. 1970’s back in the day. I remember growing up with them when they were a few hundred feet away from their original spot. It’s okay quality, as always, post wherever u end up whether 50 years ago u remember or today.

Unique hot pot restaurant in Santa Clara, located in a shopping plaza off of El Camino Real. The menu has a lot of traditional Chinese food items such as chicken feet, pig ears, duck wings, gizzards, and duck heads. Not for the first timer, but definitely a tasty place for connoisseurs of Chinese clay pot (note: not the same as hot pot). Staff was super efficient and attentive. Plenty of parking in the free parking lot.

4.5/5 - Pretty much perfect, just a couple nitpicks here and there. Got the yellow braised pork trotter combo. Very well done, trotters absorbed the braise and was cooked until it fell off the bone. I wish there was a tad more impact with the sauce, but otherwise it had a nice sweet, umami flavour. With the side dishes and rice, this was a hearty meal! The location is a bit cramped though. Service is friendly and the servers are quick to respond. Highly recommend dropping by for a lunch or dinner!

Unlike ordinary Chinese restaurants in the United States, I was so satisfied because the scent of the dish was strong or not too salty. Especially, appitaizer and the soft tofu dish was really delicious, but orange chicken tasted a little unexpected. We were a little worried about ordering too many dishes, but we finished our plates. When we went, we were relatively free and they looked pretty kind. I have a revisit intention, and I recommend you to visit.

I've been coming to this restaurant since the late 90's, and there has never been a time that I can remember, when I've had a bad meal here. The siblings Frank and Lilly, who started the restaurant with a vision of bringing authentic Chinese cusine to Santa Clara, have withheld it's commitment, prestige, and status in the community. The service is always consistent and the wait staff is like family, especially Hugo, he has seen me and my brother grow up since teenagers. I'm so proud of this establishment, keeping a float, as all the smaller mom and pop shops around them in the Plaza have all gone away. If you are from Santa Clara, and don't know about China Stix, you live under a rock.

We arrive at the restaurant after six o'clock in the afternoon, so we don't have to wait. Order directly by scanning the code and ordering online, and then a waiter will confirm the menu and spicy degree. They serve food quickly and taste good. When we left, the restaurant was full and there were people waiting to into the restaurant.

Went back to "Little Chengdu," which used to be "Little Sichuan" in San Mateo. Happy they're open again after the pandemic. The new place is smaller but feels cozy. Had a nice surprise when my partner debated a third dish; I remembered their big portions, so I said no. The Cold Noodle was still big enough for both of us! My favorite, the Sichuan Spicy Cold Noodle, was as good as always. Big portion, tasty sauce—satisfying. Tried Tea Smoked Duck for the first time, and it was better than expected. Tastes like smoked turkey with a hint of tea. Smelled a bit smoky, but the flavor was excellent, not too bitter. Just a heads up, parking around the area might be a bit difficult.

I was glad to find a restaurant with hubei cuisine because this is my hometown flavor. But my feelings for the dishes here were mixed. The food was authentic in the sense that they did taste a bit like what they should be. But in many other ways they were not authentic, or authentic enough. The hot dry noodles were not the right noodles and the fermented beans and turnips didn't quite taste like their authentic versions. Doupi looked exactly like what a doupi should be, but the taste only slightly resembles doupi. The lotus root soup was better than the hot dry noodles and doupi, but still mediocre. As for oudai, I guess they did their best, it's just the oudai was not as tender. The beer duck was a bit too salty but otherwise good.

I had a wonderful experience at Hubei Restaurant. The hostess was incredibly warm-hearted, making me feel right at home from the moment I walked in. The cuisine was authentically delicious, offering a true taste of Hubei's culinary heritage. The dishes were well-prepared and bursting with flavor. Overall, I had a great time and would highly recommend this restaurant to locals looking for an authentic dining experience. I'll definitely be returning!

Stopped by this small restaurant for dinner on the way back from hiking in Pacifica. I had heard about this place a few times before from friends, but had never been. It's a small restaurant, that gives off a very nostalgic vibe of some of the restaurants I've eaten at when visiting family back in China. The restaurant offers two options for dining - an all you can eat ($35 for normal, $45 for the premium), as well as a la carte dining. Personally, the all you can eat is a great deal if you're coming with some friends and want to sample a large amount of skewers and dishes. You get a total of three orders for the all you can eat, but each order can be pretty big, so while it doesn't sound like a lot, you'll likely struggle to make it to that third order. We ordered a lamb and pork Chinese burger, the Xi'An cold noodles, lamb organ soup, and then a wide variety of skewers. The food was all authentic in taste and served in generous portions. Overall, a great hidden gem, and somewhere I'll definitely be coming back to whenever I'm passing through.

The servers there were very friendly, but the food quality is not good. I had pork feet soup noodles. The pork wasn't fresh and the noodles were just instant noodles quality, 100% not handmade. I did not like the texture. The restaurant hygiene standard could be better too. The items and combo recommended on the menu are great. It has all you can eat option which I like. but I wouldn't go again unless the food quality is improved

This is a family-style restaurant offers a great overall dining experience. with plenty of space and excellent service. The food was absolutely delicious and the quality is beyond expectations. As a native Cantonese, the roasted goose, lobster with noodle, and clay-pot rice are must-try, in my opinion. There are plenty of space and the service was excellent that the waiters/waitresses were always attentive to your needs. I brought my family for CYN dinner and the owner was so generous to made us a steamed bum tree. I would come back with friend and I would recommend this place.

The claypot rice's rice was very hard - not like the crispy good hard. It was so hard that chewing it was a chore. The beef brisket rice noodle rolls was interesting but it fell apart way too easily. The plate was full of broken rice noodles as we tried to eat it... and there wasn't enough sauce on it too. I didn't think the lettuce went well on this dish.

I've been looking for a restaurant serving this type of dishes since my favorite place closed. I went to a few places near me, but they were not at this caliber. Wow. Everything we ordered was delicious. Dandan noodles were just right with a touch of peanuts sauce. The mapo tofu was very flavorful with the right amount of heat and numbing spices. We also ordered the fish in chili oil. It had a lot of fish and again, it was very flavorful. There was street parking and a small parking lot behind the restaurant. I will definitely be going back to try the other items on the menu.

We tried a mix of Sichuan and Northern Chinese dishes at Yummy Szechuan, and the flavors were impressive. However, as a spicy food fan, I found the Spicy Pork Ear, Chongqing Spicy Chili Chicken, and Mao Xue Wang a bit milder than I prefer. If you're like me and love extra heat, consider asking for more chili in these dishes. Despite the spice level, the quick service, varied flavors, and cozy atmosphere made the experience enjoyable. The Toothpick Lamb With Cumin, The Salted Egg with Golden Sand Prawns, and The Chongqing Spicy Chili Chicken stood out, even if they weren't super spicy.

Such a cozy atmosphere with a wide array of dishes. Our food came out hot and fresh. It was us 3 so we ordered pork and Nappa cabbage dumplings, broccoli beef w/rice and general tso’s. Plenty to eat to your hearts delight. We would definitely come back. I wish I ordered the noodles because apparently they’re really good too. 10/10 would recommend

Ugh... I hate leaving negative reviews but I have to be honest. I walked by this place last month because it is maybe half a block down from Yummy Szechuan which is On Point delicious Szechuan eats. They had pictures of their menu out of side the door which was one of the reasons why I wanted to go back and try. I'm a big fan of lotus root and I saw two ways that they prepared there. I have an old faded Michelin 2019 taped on their window before you walk in as does Yummy Szechuan and being that the Bay Area brings on the best of the best Chinese food I thought I would give this place a try. When we sat down I was looking for a Lotus root on the menu and the waitress told us they don't have that on the new menu. We had ordered some hot tea which they basically put in plastic cups of hot water which I'm not a fan of but hey it was our first time there and just getting to know the place. Had we not ordered the tea before I found out the menu had changed we would have left. But I feel obligated to try out a new local joint. They had a squid with tentacles Hot Pot that I wanted to try so we stayed. And I always judge a Chinese Szechuan place by their mapo tofu bc I like the real deal mouth numbing Peppercorns in my mouth got that dish has to offer. We ordered the spicy dumplings which came out with a medium warm center very average in flavor. I should have sent it back but I figured I would just take it home and reheat it. The squid tentacle Hot Pot was very disappointing it was really heavy on the celery and the squid tentacles were underwhelming in quantity but it was the texture was really alarming for me...... it was like the squid tentacle concoction was sitting in something for a long time and had been overcooked because there was no chew to it and you couldn't even call it tender it was very disappointing to say the least. The Mapo tofu food was probably the best thing we ate... Not the best but it would be considered good if it was outside of the Bay Area. And we got the spicy Dan Dan noodles that were okay maybe they were better but I was just disappointed in the whole experience. It was like a bait-and-switch having the pictures of their menu items in a Michelin 2019 when it seems like it was Under New Management and you're tricked into walking to the place expecting something and being forced to order what you think is going to be at least good Szechuan in the Bay Area but it was far from it . They really should take down the photos of The Many Items they don't have anymore because it was the only reason I went back to that joint. The waitress was nice but she was pretty laid back and didn't check up on us and it wasn't that busy. I hate leaving reviews like this but if you're a foodie says one person like I am this is not the place to go to.

Great portion of food. Delicious and comforting. The items on menu themselves are not on the cheap side but given its large portion, it has good value for sure. Chef’s specials are all pretty good. I am not Northeastern China local but I have tried six different dishes so far and it never missed. Very satisfying. They also sell frozen premade food. It is also great! Dumplings and Baos are yummy.

We live an hour away and still try to make it here once a month, if not more. It is a great place to head to after arriving at SFO. You know, after a long trip away, you're gonna miss legit Chinese food. This is that place that welcomes us home. Their special sweet and sour pork with tart vinegar and ginger sauce will change your life. Gone are the days of red coloring in your sweet and sour pork. There's no pineapple in this either. It's a northern China version, and it's 1000%better. Their batter has mochi flour in it so it's got a great chew. We can never come here and not get it. If you sit down long enough, you'll see other tables have it as well. Their garlic broccoli has crack in it because it's got the most flavor I've ever tasted in broccoli. Perfectly al dente broccoli with a light garlic sauce. Tastes like they boiled the broccoli in chicken broth. Very addicting. The staff here are always friendly and are very helpful. If we didn't live far away, we would be here every week.
