Dumpling Wei
Loved the beef roll. Would definitely order again. Fried rice was okay, nothing to write home about. Cucumber salad was fine as well. Beef roll really took the show.
Come here for the dumplings. Especially the pork and crab dumplings. They are just as good as the best ones I’ve had. However their green beans and green onion pancakes weren’t as good. The orange chicken is different. I liked it and it’s different than at other places but the flavor is maybe too subtle but these have more meat than at Panda. They have a gender neutral restroom. Free parking available as well as meter parking.
Panda Express
We went to this Panda Express because the one in south pasadena had a rat at their location. This one is super clean, the service was quick, and the people working there were great. The food was fresh and amazing for fast food! Def coming here again.
i come to this location very frequently and honestly, it's one of the best pandas i've ever been to. the food is always fresh, the service is always nice, and the place is always very clean (see pic of 100/100 pasadena rating on the door). plenty of seating indoors, with a couple of chairs and a table outside, too. all wheelchair accessible. can get busy during lunch and dinner hours, especially with mobile pick-up + indoor crowd, but they're always pretty quick in handling everything. highly recommend this location.
Grandview Palace
The food quality isn't very good. Broccoli is soft and mushy. Egg foo yung didn't have veggies in it and came with a soupy thin sauce. The shrimp and snowpeas dish was just wrong ...dark brown sauce with no snow peas. Chow fun is my go to dish and their's is not good. I ordered it last night from Wokcano and it was better there. I'm probably spoilef by New Moon but if you are going to charge the same prices do better on your food.
The combination garlic sauce was truly exceptional. Its complex flavors perfectly complemented the dish. I was thoroughly impressed with the quality and taste. I will certainly return to enjoy this offering again. This establishment is a must-try for anyone seeking delicious food.
dan modern chinese - pasadena
I keep coming back for the veggies. The green beans and the seaweed with tofu is the best. Their knife-cut noodles with mushrooms have this fantastic smoky flavor—though the portion is a little small. Thankfully, you can swap in brown rice if you prefer. The Salt & Pepper Tofu is a standout—crispy on the outside without being overly breaded—and the Spicy Pork Dumplings are just the right level of heat. Pro tip: Parking is easier across the street if you’re cool with a short walk. Downside: They can be a little understaffed at times
I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while. The food was excellent. I ordered a little of everything to try. They don’t have their own parking but there’s a parking structure right behind and paid street parking available. They’re located in the same shopping area as Sugar Fish and Philz Coffee. It’s very clean inside and they do have a few outdoor tables. Personally I feel the dumplings are a bit pricey, but relevant to Pasadena. Their fried rice was very tasty. I’d prefer the popcorn chicken with more seasoning and without their dipping sauce. The mapo tofu didn’t over power the taste of the crab. I’d definitely order the noodles again. The crispy dumplings were pretty much perfect.
Sichuan Street Food (当代川菜)
The service here is excellent, asking for serving room temperature water, which suits the Asian preference and is gentler on the stomach compared to ice water. I ordered the cumin lamb and dry fried string beans, and was impressed by how quickly the food arrived. The dishes are authentically Sichuan, packed with flavor and expertly prepared, although it’s a bit on the oily side (which is pretty much expected). I chose the 2nd hottest level and it is indeed spicy. Watching the chefs work with the huge wok fire was a treat— it’s thrilling to see traditional Chinese cooking techniques in action, utilizing high heat for a short cooking time to perfect each dish.
Amazing Chinese cooks. I ordered a fish dish 304 and a veggie/preserved meat dish 511. The fish is fresh and cooked just right. The preserved meat in the veggie dish is also good quality and a bit sweet. Both dishes are flavorful and NOT salty. Amazing food! Lots of Chinese customers as well.
Red Corner Restaurant
Y&J Gourmet
Solid Chinese-American restaurant ran by Cantonese people. They seemed short-staffed due to COVID so please be patient. I called in for order and was told 30 min wait time - no biggie! SUPPORT LOCAL !! We got the pepper and salt pork chop - juicy and fried to perfection! Recommended. The fish with black bean sauce is solid too. I will ask for spicy next time for that extra kick. Great service. People wear masks.
New restaurant, delicious food, we eat string beens and beef chao fun. This was a rice noodle gluten free and we asked to have later gluten free soy sauce. Staff were courteous and we liked the service. A must visit. They have delivery with Uber Eats!
Go China Restaurant
A must try Chinese restaurant in Pasadena. Best flavor of traditional Chinese food. Perfect for family and friends’ gathering. Recommended dishes:Orange chicken, Mongolian beef and fried rice. They are open on regular days and holidays including Christmas and new year.
This beautiful hidden Chinese restaurant is exactly what Chinese food should taste like. The service was excellent and quick and the food was extremely delicious.
J’S Chinese Cuisine
Review of my visit and first food experience. Restaurant is clean and comfortable. Fried shrimp appetizer was easily 5 stars plus and highly recommend. Minimal sweet and sour sauce no hot mustard brought or offered . Hot and sour soup soup loaded with ingredients but a little bland and not so hot in flavor or temperature. The entree was "prawns" and "mixed vegetables". From size and shape looked like shrimp. My opinion. Broccoli and carrots only veggies and far outweighed the shrimp ratio. Serving size decent but heavy vegetables without a mixed variety. No rice included. That the new norm? Is- is not wherever you go it seems. Service was outstanding. Bit of a drive to return for another visit. Not because of a bad experience or food. Just not over the top to make the drive.
Found this little hidden gem in Pasadena. The girls and I were in the mood for some Chinese food and this was the perfect spot. The staff was very friendly, quick and attentive. The portions we great for sharing, it’s like family style which is nice. Since we all wanted to try a little of everything. I highly recommend the sesame chicken. It was so crunchy and delicious, that plate was done within a few minutes. Another of my favorite was the garlic cucumber. So much flavor and refreshing. We were lucky enough to find parking right in front. Worth checking them out and eating there, especially for big parties.
Fusion Bowl
Not the best fast Chinese food we’ve had - but definitely not the worst. The potato chicken and orange chicken were good; the black pepper chicken wasn’t bad, either. I also tried the barbecued pork, which was decent. However, the chow mein and fried rice were bland and needed salt; I added soy sauce to mine, which helped a little - but the chow mein noodles just weren’t great tasting at all. Ended up throwing the noodles and rice away. Service is very prompt and while not overtly friendly (I think it’s mainly a cultural thing), it was efficient and fast. The gentleman ringing me up did say to have a happy Christmas, so that was nice - nicer than many other employees we interact with this time of year. The dining area is clean and plain - nothing fancy but nothing ghetto or gross. We got our food to go, so we didn’t stay and eat. Would we go back? Honestly, probably not. But would we tell people to avoid this or go elsewhere? No. I’d say just be wary of bland chow mein; stick with the fried rice and add that soy sauce. The prices were low - so no complaint there. I guess in this case, you get what you pay for. Quick and simple fast “Chinese” food.
OMG! so much value for your money in the middle of Pasadena! we got the 3 item combo & it was more than enough for two (just look at the photo - only 10 bucks!) - you can see the pepper chicken on the left (looks a lot like orange chicken) & there is fried rice & steamed veggies (and shrimp) completely buried in there! 🦥 because of the sheer volume of ppl coming thru this place & how much they give, the turnover of food is quick so we found the terriaki chicken to be excellent!
Yang Chow Restaurant
We made reservations for 12:30pm on a Saturday for 11 people but to our pleasant surprise it was not busy which was great. Quiet atmosphere. This is a traditional family style menu. All dishes were cooked well and flavorful. Slippery shrimp and moo shu wraps were my favorite. Large portions to share and we also had alot left over to take home. Hospitality was nice and we all took home a 2025 Year Of The Snake Chinese zodiac calendar.
I had the pleasure of dining at Yang Chow in Pasadena, and I have to say, it was an unforgettable experience! The food was absolutely amazing, with large portions that left us more than satisfied. To top it off, the staff was incredibly kind and made my mom’s birthday extra special by surprising her with a little birthday ice cream and a cheerful song. Their hospitality really set the tone for a fantastic meal. Highly recommend for great food and even better service!
Panda Inn
This place has it all, amazing food, vibes, service and atmosphere. The drink menu is perfectly curated. Tried the Lychee Martini, it was a solid 1st drink choice and super delicious. Then tried the signature Mai tai and Passionfruit margarita, both really delicious but the Mai tai was very strong (husband liked it). All the food was cooked well, seasoned to perfection and our server guided us with recommendations to complement the experience. We were decided on the combination rice and phoenix chicken and undecided on one more to try but I am glad we went with the honey walnut shrimp. It had a nice crisp outside but perfectly cooked inside. Would love to come back to try the sushi because our neighboring table was raving about how it just “melts in your mouth”. Definitely a must try!
Loved the renovations at the Panda Inn. Carson our server was professional and attentive with great recommendations. We had a party of 7 and enjoyed the beef fried rice; sea bass light with a ginger flavor; Mongolian beef dish; peking duck and the sushi deluxe. All were a delight and the chocolate dipped fortune cookies were a terrific end to our meal.
