Uncle Chung
I've been going to this restaurant now for three decades. I currently live in San Jose and whenever I'm in the mood for some great Szechuan, I drive from San Jose to Pinole. No other Szechuan compares. If it's your first time get the "10 ingredient fried rice", "chicken chow mein", "beef and broccoli", and DO NOT forget about the "princess chicken". ENJOY! 😎
Uncle Chungs is the best. My family has been coming here since before I was born. Princess chicken and honey walnut prawns are a must. And if you like crispy noodles try your chow mein Hong Kong style. Uncle Chungs is family owned and a staple if you are anywhere close.
Szechuan Garden
If you’re looking for an authentic, flavor-packed Szechuan dining experience, Szechuan Garden in Concord is the place to be! From the moment you walk in, the interior immerses you in genuine Chinese charm, setting the perfect tone for a meal full of bold, traditional flavors. The Szechuan-style roast whole fish was a hit - perfectly cooked with just the right amount of spice who CAN handle it! It’s a bit on the fiery side, but the balance of flavors is incredible, and the spice level is more of a delightful challenge than a deterrent. The cucumber salad was light and refreshing, and the popcorn shrimp? Mmmmmm….we loved it so much we had to order it twice! The service started off a little dry, but quickly turned into a warm, pleasant and even funny experience that matched the authenticity of the food. To top it all off, the complementary sesame balls served with tea in authentic China-wear were the perfect sweet ending. I couldn’t resist coming back the very next day, this time bringing new friends to share in the experience. Highly recommend this gem for anyone craving true Szechuan flavors!
The food is ridiculously good. Like, flavors on point, not overly salty, everything light and tasty. Honestly this is hands down some of the best food in the area. And it’s really not expensive at all for the generous portions. I can’t wait to come back, such a great addition to the area. Definitely give it a try if you want what to me seemed like some of the most authentic Szechuan in the east bay.
Hidden Dragon
This is by far one of our favorite spots for Chinese food. The food and service is always great.
Service was slow and inefficient, food was bland. Cook needs to use bullion to add flavor.
Jin Ye Restaurant
I get my lunch takeaways from here. Had a craving for eggplant in garlic sauce. Note: their lunch specials include soup and salad only if you EAT IN. I got an egg roll with my special, so I was happy. Food was hot and yummy, enough left for a light bite at dinner.
Wow this good was so good and reasonably priced! We were just passing through and needed some dinner, found this gem of a location. Wish we had good food like this where we live.
China Kitchen
Food is terrible very bland non flavorful I don’t know why it’s so highly rated. The food here comes from the frozen tv dinner section of the grocery store.
I’ve visited this place twice at different times, and despite the posted hours indicating they are open, it was closed both times. Today, I arrived at 4 PM after driving from Benicia, trusting Google’s information that it was open. This is unfair and unprofessional for a business. There were three other people standing outside, just as disappointed. Please update your hours accurately to avoid misleading customers.
Uncle Wong Chinese Restaurant
I have been ordering from here for years. Always great service and tasty food. Best hot and sour soup I’ve ever had.
Small yet, Cosey. Appears family owned service. Its in a strip mall. Kind of old. But the food is great. Hot fresh ans fast.

I’m just not sure why they don’t know the difference between ramen noodles and and udon noodles. Then they want to be rude and combative and clearly don’t have knowledge on what they are even serving.
We went to eat there and truly weren't expecting much, since we've eaten dumplings at restaurants in multiple Chinatowns. However, the dumplings were excellent, comparable to the Chinatown restaurants. If you like dumplings, we highly recommend this restaurant. We especially liked the soup dumplings and shrimp dumplings. Their non-dumpling side dishes were good too.
China Express Restaurant
My favorite Chinese food in this area 😋😍 me and my family love to get the Hunan Prawns and Veggie Chow Mein. I personally prefer the beef chow mein with extra veggies to have it more balanced and pay a bit extra 😊 but everything I've had from here is soooo good definitely recommend
Never Ever going back to this place again! I asked for Mongolian beef. What does that mean? Beef recipe or veggie? All I got was endless CABBAGE, MUSHROOMS, AND BAMBOO. What the heck? Where was the ONION and most importantly the freaking BEEF?? 11/17/23. I should've known this place would be terrible considering it's always empty. Not even take out orders are placed here. And when have you ever heard of $0.25 soy sauce packets? Are you for real? And paid almost $20 for a disgusting order of veggies. I will give it 1 star because I can't give them -5 stars.
Asia Delight
I recently discovered this place back a few months. I saw a line stemming from outside while delivering something at the nearby UPS. Staff were quick and clearly experienced. They wasted no time and got your order quickly. Got the fried wings and sesame chicken with noodles and fried rice. I was pleasantly surprised at the price. The food was quality and the portions were more than enough. I'm still going there to this day and I can't get enough. The fact that they rival other Chinese places in terms of food quality, food price, and food portions is a clear indication that owner and staff are experts in the business acumen.
It is one of my favorite places to eat and for a great price. I used to love going here when I lived around. Every time I visit, I always have to buy 2 plates. It fills you quickly for worth it. The employees were kind and respectful. Love it
Silver River Restaurant
We must’ve caught this place on a bad night. Between Nextdoor reviews and google reviews, most people say really good things. However, we won’t be back. The food was quite honestly not good. The rangoons had zero crunch- they were completely soggy. The sesame chicken was so over fried there was no chicken when you bit into it- tasted like dust. My husband said the kung pao chicken was “alright”. Sad our food experience wasn’t great :(
My kids Bought Chinese food here because of reviews but I'm sorry to say that your food is disgusting 😡😡. Starting with the combination fry rice so tasteless . The orange chicken 🐔🐔 was hard as a rubber 🥾🥾. Chicken chow mein 🐥🐥 so salty 🧂🧂🧂. And food prices are too high 🚀🚀🚀. I don't recommend this restaurant to buy or eat their food 👎👎. Please go somewhere else to spend your money 💰💰💰.
Tsing Tao
"I ordered Twice Cooked Pork, Mushroom Tofu, and Eggplant with Szechuan Sauce for takeout this afternoon. I felt strange when I saw the Twice Cooked Pork—it had very little pork and too many vegetables. The pork served was just meat. Normally, Twice Cooked Pork should be made with pork belly, which includes a mix of skin, fat, and meat, but what I received was only lean meat. I didn’t enjoy it, and my wife scolded me for wasting money on this food. The restaurant looks cozy and busy, but I was not satisfied with my order. There were very few mushrooms, or possibly none at all, in the Mushroom Tofu. I asked my wife, and she said there were only a few pieces."
Small, cozy, and clean restaurant. The food was delicious, fresh, and tasty, and the portions were huge! My kids eat all the vegetables and love it! When I am in town, I’ll come back for more!
Hong Kong Snack House
The owner is super sweet! Did you know they've been here 20 years? I know what their secret is. It's authentically yummy Vietnamese street style food! Everything from banh mi, fresh spring rolls, boba tea, to crepes. This is my favorite quick stop when I'm in the neighborhood.
Little hole in the wall Cafe that serves what essentially is asian street food. They have vietnamese sandwiches, Boba drinks, sweet ginger tofu, crepes, egg buble waffle, and some other sweet and savory offerings. You can easily find this shop by following the loud techno/club/dance music they play on the speakers. The workers are really nice and explain what they have to offer and what it is if you don't know. It can get a bit overwhelming if there are lots of people waiting since the menu is so diverse. The entire shop looks like someone just crammed lots of signage and decorations in the tiny space to make it look busier and fuller. I don't even know how the people that work there get behind the counter. Haha. When we came for a weekend late night snack/dessert run at close to 8:40pm there wasn't too many people but within 5 to 10 minutes more people started to come by to buy stuff. We ordered a crepe that had fresh mango pieces, ice cream and whip cream; a crepe with fresh strawberry pieces, ice cream and whip cream; thai iced tea with Boba; and a warm silken tofu with ginger syrup. The mango crepe was delicious and not too sweet. The strawberry crepe was too sweet since they used strawberry jam while the mango crepe had a drizzle of mango syrup. I couldn't taste the Thai ice tea until we got home and ate something salty to counter all that sweet stuff we ate. I didn't even attempt to try the warm silken tofu since I was eating the crepe and I wouldn't have tasted anything anyways. We will be back to try the other stuff they have. Everything looks delicious. Update 10/15/23. Came here for a little treat because of my son's birthday. We noticed that they had signs advertising 20th anniversary buy 2 get 1 free deal. Honestly I don't remember them being there for 20 years but whatever... We ordered Thai teas, fish curry balls, and bubble egg waffles. The Thai teas were good, the curry balls were pretty flavorful and firm with a bit of chewiness but I had to take them off the stick in order to coat them in the curry sauce at the bottom of the tray. The waffles were hot with a good vanilla flavor. They were crunchy on the outside with a chewy mochi like interior. Update 3/9/24. Came here for an after dinner treat and got ourselves some crepes. Super yummy as always and friendly owner. They still have a special buy two get one free deal. We ordered three crepes, and the third was free.
