Magic Wok Restaurant
i've had two really great experiences with Magic Wok: dining in two weeks ago - great atmosphere! the staff was very attentive and the food was delish!!! ordered delivery tonight and it arrived much sooner than expected and the food was amazing!
Prices are decent, but that’s where the “magic” ends. Kung Pao chicken was rather bland, was comprised of all dark meat with a strange texture, and was lacking any discernible heat despite being listed as a spicy dish on the menu. Dumplings were thick and chewy in a strange way. As far as atmosphere and service - there was a TV showing Fox News the entire time, and our server could not stop staring at the TV even when we got up to leave. Tacky at best, bordering on rude. With so many other places to eat in Alexandria it would be hard to justify another visit to this restaurant.
New China Carryout
I am in the habit of reviewing everything, and as a reviewer, I make it a point to read reviews for restaurants before I order anything. The reviews I saw were pretty good, with the exception of two. I ordered the sesame chicken with fried rice and the fried wings with fried rice and sweet and sour soup. The food was well seasoned, hot, and better than I expected. However, the fried wings were not what I'm used to...they could learn something from the carryout restaurants in Washington DC where the wings are fried well and are absolutely delicious. The spring roll was one of the best I've had in a while. I will definitely patronize this place in the near future. Just work on those wings...go to DC as a secret shopper and try the wings at virtually every carryout to get an idea of how it's done. The wings caused the loss of one star.
Staff is very rude, They also keep all their packets of soy and duck sauce behind the counter i always order over 30$ of food & you only get one packet of each anything more they charge you for, They have a sign on the door that says they take American express so that was the only card i brought one day, The lady spent 5 mins asking if i had a different card & how the machine dosent take American Express I then told her to cancel my order cause I have no other payment she went and swipe the card and it worked just fine. This place is just full of nonstop BS and like I said they are all very rude and cheap.
Four Seasons Cafe
Ordered Chicken Chowmein & Schezwan chicken. Was given wrong order AFTER confirming the phone number for pickup. It was raining so could not go back to return it. And whatever was given had marginal chicken and no taste whatsoever. Just had lots of veggies in some tasteless sauces. Won’t be ordering again.
I ordered the beef with mixed vegetables, fried wontons, and fried tofu with mixed vegetables. The food was meh. I did not love the food or hate the food. The portion size was small considering it is Chinese food. There was a lot of liquid in the beef with mixed vegetables. Fried wontons was the best dish out of all three, but there was not a lot of meat in the wonton. All this cost $30 and I do not think it is worth $30.
Asia Garden
I’ve ordered from this place many times and never had an issue. Today I ordered for delivery 3 hot and sour soups and kung pao chicken. In the photo you can see what I had almost swallowed in the first hot and sour soup. It’s a metal piece. I don’t know what it is but I think I would have been in the hospital had I swallowed it. The penny in the picture is for perspective: it wasnt in the soup
Went there for the first time last week and was very impressed. Got the Lemon Chicken and the combination rice noodle with shrimp. Both were made fresh to order. The Lemon Chicken was a large portion and was unlike most American Chinese food was NOT the least bit greasy. Noodles were tasty, fresh and also a generous portion. Will definitely go back.
Panda Express
March, 2025: I lucked out with a visit on some night where corporate staff was in town (see videos). They hooked me up with a huge entree portion of orange chicken, and I’ve never seen such excellent service at any Panda in my lifetime! I’m raising my rating up to a very solid 4+ stars. October, 2022, unfortunately this location still has dated pandemic era closing hours of 9:30PM on a Friday night. The do have the infrastructure (a drive through window) to stay open later. Also, with the food, whether take out, or dining in, it just doesn’t seem as fresh and hot as other Panda locations.
Tried this location and I am tired of stale food. The noodles got dried in pan, quantity was not enough. They need to work hard or hard time is coming for them. Orange chicken was dry and pepper chicken had no flavour. There is ample parking and it’s near to a gas station. Handicap access is good.
China One Chinese Restaurant
Half chicken w spicy combination fried rice 10/10 all day everyday with a steak n cheese roll best take out spot in Alexandria get right don't get left !
I’m not excited about writing this review but I have to share my experience. I was in town visiting for the weekend and wanted some Chinese food. I found this place online and the reviews were pretty good. I was excited about what I was about to order, as soon as I stepped up to the counter the lady instantly was rude. I could not understand where this rudeness was coming from. The only thing I can think is she wasn’t happy with my skin tone. I turned around and walked out. I will never spend my money where I’m not wanted.
Little Chef Asian Kitchen
Ordered a Chef Entree Plate with fried wonton and spring rolls via Grubhub. Arrived early, and the General Tso's Chicken, Crispy Chicken, and the Spicy Bourbon Chicken were all good. But the steamed mixed vegetables were disappointing.
- food was pretty good, everything seems like it was fresh. The bourbon chicken had good flavor but was pretty fatty which I don't like. The fresh vegetables needed to be steamed a bit longer but it was still really good. - prices are normal for the area. - staff were friendly and service was quick. - in the mail it can be busy and hard to find a place to sit. - overall not a bad first experience at this location.
Ding How Carry Out
This is the second time I ordered here. I like the taste of the food. Price is very reasonable and the price includes a spring roll or a shrimp Rangoon. I tried both and they are excellent. We tried the triple delight, orange chicken and general Tso chicken between our 2 visits. Food is generally delicious. The portion is generous.
Very bad customer service! They got my order wrong and got loud with me and hung up in my face! I live far away and love to stop by here for there fried chicken wings in general tso's sauce its amazing but she said If I didnt bring the food back I wont get a refund.... this will be my last and final time visting this establishment!
Hunan Express*
Pretty good food, will order from again. Do wish the dinner portions would be a bit larger seems like the lunch and dinner portions are the same.
Happy family is their signature dish and I see why a great twist on surf and turf. The steak was season perfectly not too hot but flavorful while the shrimps were cooked well. Overall a great experience from this carry out location
Panda Express
Worst location ever. Pre ordered on the app to give them a head start. Walked in and completely ignored at the pick up section. Gave them my name and still couldn’t find my order. 20-30 mins later they started my order. Gave me chow mein with barely any noodles and all onions and cabbages. More than 75% were onion and cabbages. avoid this place and support the local Chinese restaurant.
I placed an online order which was a small walnut shrimp for $7.50 which I received ONLY (7) shrimps…. Thats literally over a $1 a shrimp! I also got a few other dishes, another was the Chow Mein which was FULL of Cabbage! If you happened to read the reviews this location is notorious for NOT giving the customer a proper portion of food since it’s boxed and you don’t know what the food looks like until you get home. They feel like that’s their chance on maximizing their profit by not giving what the customers pay for… THIS IS ABSOLUTELY A RIDICULOUS!!!! This location should be ashamed for stealing!!!! Give the customers what they pay for! For the management that’s reading this, I don’t need an apology, BUT what you can do is easily correct this criminal act moving forward… Otherwise if you’re the owner/manager you should step down and have someone else run this business. I have no problem reaching out to corporate! Fortunately for you I wasn’t in the area otherwise I would’ve taken the food back and made a scene in your restaurant.
Mandarin Chinese Halal
I ordered the Singapore-style noodles, and honestly, it was a huge letdown. It didn’t look anything like Singapore-style noodles. The rice noodles were cheap quality, and there was barely any spice. To make it worse, they mixed rice into the dish and hid it under the noodles in the to-go box. Felt like they threw in a bunch of leftovers—it was gross. It was not cheap either, so I expected better. Honestly, Panda Express would give you way better food for less money. Definitely not worth it.
Halal Chinese wooooo!! I've been going here for years and the food is still fantastic! You get large portions in every dish and it's very reasonably priced. I personally love the fried wontons and the pepper steak (not pictured). Lynette is one of the owners and she's a wonderful person. Overall really love this restaurant and still will be going here in the future.
China Kitchen – Tysons
Two stars experience at this food court stall. We got fried rice with chicken and broccoli and it was extremely disappointing. The fried rice was tasteless and room temperature, the portion of the entree was very stingy. How do you mess up fried rice?
The bourbon chicken is delicious, high quality cuts of meat, i’d give it 5 stars. The kung pao chicken was not good, meat was very spongy, i’d give it 2.5 stars. Go for the bourbon and you won’t be disappointed
