Maymar Cuisine
This place is typical Filipino turo-turo restaurant with seating available for dine in, although there are tables where chairs are still on tables untouched from previous day closing time. Ambiance is definitely uninviting. There's always a line here and the reason is that the customers are allowed to take their good old time to decide and then chit chat (tsismis time!) with the server/cashier. Today they lost 4 customers in line behind me because of the wait! You can choose small, medium or large containers or entree items, not clear if rice is an extra item (unlike other places where you pick rice or pancit with your entrees). I chose beef steak and sinigang (vegetable with pork sour soup). The beef steak was super salty. The sinigang only had a couple of pieces of pork. The turon (fried bananas) are good.
I LOVE this Maymar! The food is always fresh and delectable, they give you nice portions, & the food isn’t expensive. The customer service is great!!! I love the coconut chicken & I’d love for them to make it everyday lol Go try them out you won’t be disappointed!!!
Beijing Palace
This place is probably my favorite of all the VB Chinese spots. I got multiple menu items just to see if they beat my favorites around here and they killed it. The pork ribs sauce is amazing the eggrolls are massive and the Chicken Lo Mein portions are massive! This place is a must!
If you are looking for the best Chinese take out in Virginia Beach, this is it. I’ve been working through my favorite dishes and they have all been amazing. Everything looks and tastes to be house made; their sauces are insanely good!! Also, easily the best egg roll I’ve ever had.
Oriental Cuisine Kainan
This restaurant is located in the University shoppes located to the far left of the strip mall. There is plenty of parking. The interior is spacious with seating cafe style - booths along the wall, cafe 4 top tables in the main area, and more in the adjacent room. There are food items for purchase in the adjacent room and along the wall to the right before ordering at the counter. I informed the staff this was my first time and they were helpful in assisting with food choices and explained the items. I opted for the white rice with 2 entree items. The lumpia were half sized and were great to get a few to try. The food and snack item all cost under $20 which was a bargain and the tray was packed with food. Everything was flavorful and delicious! The staff were helpful and made sure I enjoyed my first visit!
Great atmosphere and great service. Lots of option to choose from. We only order entree that we never cook at home as it could be tedious. Food was delicious, fresh and hot, not too salty or oily like some other Filipino restaurants. We come to VA Beach every year and this is our second time coming here and they never disappoint.
Top Mongolian
I’ll start off this review by saying, I didn’t try the food because I was stopped by the customer service I received. I found this restaurant by googling Mongolian restaurants. I was excited to try this restaurant out. Upon entering the establishment, there was a lady that seemed to be in a rush. I politely asked about pricing or a menu with pricing. Before I could finish my sentence, the lady interrupted me by saying rudely, we don’t have that. I thanked her, regardless of her attitude and lack of hospitality. This restaurant could potentially have great food. However just from this interaction, I’ll never eat here. If you value your money, DON’T COME HERE. If you’re having a bad day but looking for a good meal, DON’T COME HERE. If you like respect, DON’T COME HERE.
Excellent service as we had a large group and were easily accommodated. The staff was very helpful and make the ordering of drinks and soup easy. The chef was good with the grill and the quality of the food was good. They cleaned the grill often and even with only one chef cooking went quick. There was a high level of care put into each persons cooking of the dish. If you haven’t been you are missing out.
HotPot 757 Chesapeake
This hot pot experience offers a fun and interactive dining adventure, allowing you to cook your own Korean BBQ and noodles right at the table. The combination of grilling meats and simmering noodles is a great way to customize your meal, but the lack of direction from the waitress leaves you to figure things out on your own, which could be a bit challenging for first-timers. The all-you-can-eat option is generous, though the large portions may leave you feeling full before you’ve had a chance to try everything. There’s a wide variety of sauces available, which adds to the flavor options, but it would be helpful if there were more guidance on how to pair them with your meats or noodles. The two-hour limit is a bit of a rush for those who like to take their time, but for the price and the experience, it's a solid option for those looking for an interactive and filling meal. Overall, while the food quality and variety are great, better service and clearer instructions would elevate the experience even more.
Emily was a great server!!! It was our first time and she did an awesome job making us feel welcome & made sure we understood how things worked. Food was alright!
House of Lechon
Update - I came back for more! It’s just so good. As usual, order via Facebook Messenger so when you get there it’s gonna be an easy pick up! I added a slowdown video on how you can pull the meat apart easily! Google wouldn’t let me upload a 3 seconds vid. Oh my goodness! I can’t believe they have Lechon here in Virginia. I was very excited to try their lechon and finally during Sunday, we picked up our order which was the Per Pound Sunday! It has been 5-6 years since I have tried lechon. I placed my order via Facebook Messenger and they responded pretty quickly even though it was during closed hours. The atmosphere definitely reminds me of any Lechon business back in Philippines which I greatly appreciate since it reminds me of home. As for the lechon, it was delicious! My family back in Philippines have a preferred lechon business and House of Lechon definitely matched the preferred lechon business we have in the Philippines. The lechon was juicy, not dry, you can pull apart the meat very easily and crispy! I will definitely order again.
The food here is amazing and for the price it can't be beat. I don't know anywhere you can get such friendly service with a huge amount of fried food. Each time I order from them it's a celebration just to pick it up with photos and help to safely put it in the car. Great place and I can not recommend them enough for fried pork needs!
Panda King
This is my favorite Chinese Restaurant. Easy to order on-line and food is always ready when I pickup. Food is always great. Customer service have always been good too.
Loved the Shrimp lo mien with pork fried rice & egg roll. The food taste wayyy better than the Chinese food in NC. But not as good as the Chinese food in NYC or Jersey . Overall I would eat here again. Cashier was pleasant. The restaurant was clean. Management should change the "Chinese food sign" and make "Panda King bigger than the small sign in the window. This Army Veteran was pleased and 🌝.
Warrior's Grill
This is a great place for lunch or dinner. Guests are usually seated and served quickly. You select your own ingredients and then have your food cooked on a large, hot grill. The food is cooked fast, and the finished dishes are tasty, hot, and healthy!
Warrior's Grill is a fantastic Mongolian Barbecue spot. You pick your ingredients, hand your bowl to the chef, and watch as they cook it fresh in front of you. The food is super delicious, customizable, and reasonably priced. The portions are generous, and the staff is very friendly, making the experience fun and enjoyable. It's a great place to eat, whether you're craving something light or hearty. Highly recommend!
ChinaWok
The black pepper chicken is amazing! Really good! It's huge portions, crunchy outside & very tender. Impressive. Unfortunately, the rice & noodles were a little dry and lack more flavor. I put 1/4 a bag of soy sauce on each and it tasted better. Service was super nice. Definitely coming back to support them. Hope this place prospers and stays long. Check them out.
I can’t find anything bad about this location. The food is delicious. I love the Black pepper chicken, Singapore chicken, and the Cajun chicken with Lo mein noodle's. Excellent customer service.
China Sun Restaurant
I ordered General Tao Chicken. The chicken was cooked slightly crispy but mostly soft/ mushy pieces were throughout the dish. It was drowned in this overwhelmingly sweet sauce. Had the sauce been spicy as it should have been, it might have been better balanced. Additionally, I ordered the fried chicken wings. The wings seemed old, like the actual meat itself was past its prime. I took one bite and discarded them as I didn’t want to get sick. For my final selection I ordered a chicken and shrimp (I think! The meat was not really detectable) spring roll. It was okay, a little soggy and undercooked as well. I explained that I only wanted a spring roll since I don’t like egg rolls. It had the texture of an egg roll. Doughy, thick and not crispy. I ordered on the recommendation of co workers who really enjoy this restaurant but it was a no for me personally. I expected to pay $15.00. - $20.00 because it was lunch, instead it was $30.00.
My wife and I moved to the General Booth/Princess Anne area 3 years ago. We've tried about 5 Chinese establishments in the area and finally found our favorite. China Sun is it. This place is definitely the best chinese food on this side of Virginia Beach. China Sun, please continue to do what you do. Don't change anything.
Ocean Grill Buffet
This was my first time here and I was not disappointed...with the food or service. The wait staff was attentive and personable. I will say I'm annoyed at the 3% upcharge for paying with a debit/credit card. Not many people are carrying cash these days, so I find that to be an unfair ploy to charge more. 😠 The price is already $13+ per person. However, I did find the food options to be great, especially the sushi. There were items I have never seen or heard of... that I found fascinating! 😃 Everything I tried was really good. 👍🏽
This is my favorite buffet in the CoVA area! Amazing price for the amount of seafood you get. Everything is fresh and food is being constantly refilled and hot. The place is clean and the staff are friendly. They offer military discount too.
Warriors Grill
Warriors Grill is undoubtedly the pinnacle of freshness! Every bite is a testament to their commitment to quality, with all the meats and veggies beautifully fresh!, making for an exceptional dining experience. The noodles are not just good; they're delightfully bouncy, adding a perfect texture to each dish. The variety of cooking sauce options available is impressive, allowing for a customizable experience that keeps us coming back for more. We absolutely love dining here—it's truly a treat that never disappoints!
Warrior's Grill is located in the Renaissance Place Shopping Center located on N. Great Neck Rd. just a little north of Virginia Beach Blvd. With them being part of a shopping center, there was ample parking available here. My visit here was on March 25, 2024. It had been a while since I had been to a Mongolian BBQ place since DW's Mongolian closed during the pandemic. I have heard of the place in the past, but hadn't been in there. They are in the middle of the shopping center, and almost missed it at first. It wasn't busy when I came in, but it was at an off peak time. We were immediately greeted and got to a table. The server asked if we wanted any soups, but we declined. You also get some white rice at the table, but that is one thing I avoid since it can spike sugar levels. It was time to go up to the food picking area to have it cooked. I went with several vegetables, as well as white meat chicken and beef. There are several sauces to add as well, but I generally avoid the sugar water one. It is all you can eat when you dine in, so you can go up multiple times. Since we were able to go up multiple times, I was definitely full by the time I was done after three visits. They were quick for refills as needed and the clearing of used plates too. Overall, the service and food were good. I had no issues while there. One thing that I would have hoped for was to have seafood options like shrimp or scallops as well. The pricing is good for what you get here as I was here during the early dinner time. If you're looking for a place that has Mongolian BBQ, this is a solid place to come and check out.
