Marco & Luca Dumplings
I'm always on the search for dumplings, so seeing this local chain caught my attention. With a limited menu, I had high hopes that they'd hit on all items. While the flavors were decent, I'm relatively sure this is pretty standard frozen steam buns and dumplings from an Asian market marked up quite a lot. The dumplings seem extremely similar to the Way Fong frozen dumplings (probably my favorite brand of frozen dumplings), except they're deep fried and covered with a lot of sauce. The sauce and dumplings aren't bad, but the sauce overpowers the nice flavor of the dumplings. The steam buns are fine, but I think they're reheating them in a microwave. What happens is the dough gets really tough/chewy within a minute or so once it's out of the microwave. If you like the dumplings, check out Way Fong frozen dumplings.
This place has been here for decades! I stop by everytime I’m in the area. I love the sauce and a cheap snack!
Tea House
Had way better Chinese food other places. Also we ordered fried rice and they gave us just rice that was brown from soy sauce. We went here because we were desperate as there is limit choices in Crozet.
Super friendly and delicious food. Highly recommend eating there! Loved the sushi!!
Hong Kong
Hands down the best Chinese in Charlottesville! This is our new favorite take-out spot! Highly recommend.
Best Chinese food in town and arguably the best Chinese food I have ever had. They are super nice and accommodating. Strongly recommend!!
Yuan Ho
TL;DR: Finally, a normal, good Chinese restaurant. Most of Chinese in Charlottesville is either bougie Chinese or tastes bad. Very typical Chinese, affordable restaurant. The restaurant is a little run-down but the people were nice. I will be coming back, at least for pick-up. Specific Foods: Spring Roll: 7.7/10 Chicken and Broccoli: 7.2/10 Chicken in Garlic Sauce: 8.0/10 Special Attention: No bathrooms, at least ones that were obviously accessible. General Wait Time for 1/2 dishes: 15-20 min Room For Improvement: The restaurant could use some renovation.
This restaurant falls in line with the life lesson of fast, good, and cheap (you only get to choose two). It was fast and good. The server at the counter was very friendly and I did not have to wait long. A good solid choice for Chinese in the Charlottesville area. The sweet and sour chicken was very good, I really enjoyed the sauce on the side. The fried rice was good, not overly oily. A solid 4/5, liked it, and will most likely be back.
Got Dumplings
Favorite place in Charlottesville to eat dumplings and ramen! The boba tea is amazing as well. I usually get the brown sugar oolong or taro boba tea.
Amazing. Pork dumplings with cold noodles, extra peanut sauce ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ had again after more than 5 years and they're as terrific as I remember
Beijing Station
The food is delicious and this is the most affordable place I've visited since 2020. Singapore rice noodles extra spicy (out choice to make it spicy) was perfectly spiced. Dumplings and cold noodle sweet& spicy was perfect amount, filled me up and I would get it again next time! Prices are very low, atmosphere is like cafeteria but the food is filling and very good. I would definitely recommend and if I was living on a budget here, I would eat here daily. I'll be back for certain next time I'm in town.
Staffs are very friendly. However, the Lumb noodles wasn't a good deal. I would try other meals if I had lunch here another time.
Marco & Luca Dumplings
The food here is so good and the service is very fast. It’s in the perfect spot to walk to the corner and grab lunch if you work at UVA. The chicken curry combo comes with dumplings and a bun and is a great deal. The dumplings are perfection!
Location is kind of a hole in the wall type place but very well kept. Dumplings are great and cheap. The staff are always quick and polite.
Peter Chang China Grill
Food is decent for the price. Good service - friendly and attentive. The fried rice was just rice - no veggies :( Interior needs new paint. Otherwise clean. Not noisy - there were TVs turned on but no sound which was great for being able to have conversation.
Fabulous first visit to Peter Chang cafe! Was craving high quality upscale cuisine like chicken broccoli and it was so so good!! Jasmine Tea was a bit weak but very fragrant! Vegetables were perfectly cooked and meat extremely tender! Charged extra for carrots and rice but prices still fairly reasonable. Staff was very flexible and aware of food allergies and sensitivities we mentioned. Thoroughly enjoyed the delicate warming silky egg drop soup on a cold winter evening! They don’t offer fortune cookies which we would have enjoyed but meal was just great and we would definitely return!
Oriental Express
The sweetest lady took our order and asked what time we would be there to pick up the food so it was made fresh and ready for us. We got the beef and broccoli, pork udon noodles, chicken and string bean in garlic sauce and pork lo mein. The udon noodles and the garlic chicken were my favorite! So yummy and huge portions! The best Chinese take out we’ve had yet in Charlottesville. Thank you :)
Have never made a review before but this place deserves the praise for being the best takeout I have ever had. Not only is the food amazing but consistent as-well. And the service is second to none, the lady who takes our call and checks you out is a pure soul, the service and food made me become a regular. After a little bit of time she began to recognize me and chat just as a friend would. She truly is the nicest person in service I’ve known! Definitely recommend going if you’re ever in the middle for Chinese takeout.
Marco & Luca Dumplings
Sesame noodles are delicious as are the sesame balls. Not a fan of the bun. Steamed veggie dumplings good. Atmosphere could use some updates but the food makes up for it. Always prefer washable plates and utensils for eat in, none of which present to limit trash. Nice employees. To go is usually what I do.
The food was fantastic. I had the hot and sour soup, chicken curry, fried dumplings and sesame balls. Ambience and decor is like a hole in the wall. There’s ample parking.
Ming Dynasty Restaurant
Amazing food from Hot and Sour soup to chicken with green beans! Absolutely delicious! Friendly staff that is very accommodating to service. Thank you very much!
While traveling back from Washington, D.C., I stopped at Ming Dynasty in Charlottesville, Virginia. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere with Tibetan decor, including beautiful artwork and images of the Dalai Lama. The staff, primarily from Tibet, was warm and welcoming. I ordered wonton soup, twice-cooked pork with vegetables, and egg fried rice. The wonton soup was flavorful, with large, delicious wontons in a rich chicken broth. The twice-cooked pork was authentic and packed with fresh vegetables, and the egg fried rice was prepared exactly how I requested—very authentic. The service was excellent, and I would definitely stop by again. Overall, a 10/10 experience.
Chopsticks Express
Best Chinese food I've ever had! 😁 Well worth the price and the portions are great. Staff was friendly and quick. My mom is in the hospital nearby so I got her this food and she loved it!
What I ordered: Chicken Lo Mein, small size. In American standards, its portion size is small, but it was the right portion for one person. Don’t get me wrong, I would have eaten a large size but the small was perfect! Location: This place is made for take out. They have a couple tables but it’s really set up for take out. Food Quality: The food tasted like I would have expected, flavors didn’t stand out to me as chicken lo mein isn’t really a flavorful dish. I will say it didn’t taste of salt, so I’ll be going back for another round to try something different. Verdict: Try it out at least once, don’t do what I did.. ordered just one thing. I think this place would be best if you got some appetizers with your meal.
