Star Wok Asian Bistro
Decided to give this place to try not been imlressed with alot of places around here. I ordered crab puff the wonton was chewy, the house wonton soup had no flavor and it smelled like the mushroom had gone bad or was rotten never again, kids chicken lomein my son was not Impressed it was dry and bland, house fried rice was ok not full in the box but it was warm just needed something else not sure Garlic sauce triple delight the amount was great the food was hot but everything was just kind of Mushy. Now the orange chicken was the best the sauce was Delicious, and it was hot and the chicken was yummy. That was the only thing but I would ever go back to get.
The ladies are super sweet when you order!!! I got my regular combo lomein, which is great!!!! But the Thai yellow pineapple curry is soooooo good. I got it off a whim! And it’s really good!! Great job Star Wok!!!
Double Dragon Chinese Restaurant
I am highly disappointed in double dragon. I’ve come to double dragon many times with my family and friends we have always ordered out and the food has always been really good especially the pork egg rolls omg.when we moved away we would still drive all the way to double dragon but today was i highly disappointed there special pork eggs tasted more like spring rolls and much smaller than before all the food had a weird taste to it and there crispy honey chicken was more soggy chicken there dumplings had a weird taste to it. The lady said they changed ownership and changes were made I’m say not for the better. We probably will not be going back anymore. This was very sad.
Thank you to the lady who answered and took my order. You gave very good customer service, the delivery was in a timely manner and the food was so good so satisfying. I am definitely ordering again.
Magic Wok
First off the other reviewers almost had me pass this by. But knowing how petty people are I stopped by anyway. This is a great Chinese Lunch spot. Definitely should be busier at lunch. General Tso and Hot and Sour soup is great. Chicken is not greasy, soggy, or smothered in sauce. Its just right. Egg roll is a good size as well. Will definitely come here to get my Chinese fix from now on.
--- NK Score = 6.5/10 --- 6/10 = Furniture/Ambience 7/10 = Food Quality 6/10 = Prices/Services (Other Ratings Hidden) _____________________________________________ =( BASIC INFO )= - Tiny Restaurant, Mostly Delivery - Usually Empty, Little Waiting Time - Decent Foods ( $8.00 - $14.00 ) - Uses Thin Styrofoam Plates, Meh - Homemade Style Foods, Chinese - Midtown $$ Prices, Good Service - Convenient Parking Spaces _____________________________________________ = Atmosphere = Really tiny little restaurant with almost nothing inside, probably not a good idea to dine in, but they do have good delivery service / takeout. _____________________________________________ = Food Quality = - Mongolian Beef ($9.95): Not bad, has an interesting sweet and sour flavor that's soft to the tongue. Also, the beef used was pretty basic, but the mixture of scallions, carrots, and onions make the dish a whole lot better. Ok price and portion for Midtown. - Curry Chicken ($9.25): A good load of vegetables and chicken, but lacking a little on curry portions. The flavor is alright, kinda has a homemade Chinese dish feel to it. Ok to try, but not that amazing. - Green Bean Chicken ($9.25): Decent chicken and green beans, but the flavor didn't really kick in. Wouldn't recommend this dish, but it's ok to try. _____________________________________________ = Price / Service = Prices are pretty average for a Midtown restaurant, but the styrofoam plates they use are a little disappointing. Possibly a decent place to order delivery as the portions and prices are manageable. Delivery service is pretty good, they're fast and usually on time. _____________________________________________ Recommendations: Mongolian Beef, pretty good dish with a homemade type of feel and flavor. - Signed NK (June 2017) - Images below by Jason Lx (NK)
Panda Express
They will literally steal your money and laugh in your face about it. I paid $25 for my order for pick up through the app. Once it says it’s ready I head over. There is no sign of my order and no one knows what’s going on or how long it would take for me to get my food. I asked for a refund and the “kitchen lead” a tall gentleman with long black hair and glasses, laughed in my face and said it wasn’t possible. So I didn’t get any food but they get to keep my money? Make it make sense! I was told I’d have to wait until Monday because there was no one that could issue me a refund in the store until Monday. So y’all let your store run all weekend with no manager or assistant manager? If you don’t have a manager there then who is closing the store at the end of the night? Because they should be able to get a refund if they have the authority to close the store. So I hope they make good use of my $25 dollars since they obviously need it so bad. Do not waste your time and just go to the one down the street.
Crazy long wait in the drive thru. Waited over 15 minutes just to order. Once I got the order speaker and told wait for another 5 minutes. Ended up walking. To get faster service. Upon walking in counted at least 6 employees with an additional one taking a break. Out all of them one was actually fulfilling orders.
D Wok Xpress
Food was fresh, cheese puffs were hot and crispy, eggrolls were fresh, soup was warm and comforting. Atmosphere was cozy and intimate, all booth seating.
D Wok Express – A Hidden Gem on Blalock That’s Been a Lifelong Favorite As a lifelong resident of Houston, specifically in the Spring Branch area, I’ve had the privilege of watching neighborhoods grow and change — but one place that’s remained consistent in both quality and heart is D Wok Express on Blalock Road. This humble, hole-in-the-wall spot has been a quiet cornerstone of my takeout traditions, late-night cravings, and reliable comfort food for as long as I can remember. Let’s talk about the food — it’s always fresh, piping hot, and made with care. You’ll never get a bland or under-seasoned bite here. The General Tso’s chicken is a crispy, saucy masterpiece with just the right kick, and the fried rice is always fluffy and never greasy. Egg rolls are crisp, golden, and filled to the brim, not that overly air-filled nonsense you get at some chain places. And if you’re in the mood for something warm and healing, the wonton soup hits the spot every time. Every dish feels like it was made with you specifically in mind. But what really sets D Wok apart — what truly elevates it — is the hostess, owner, chef, and all-around powerhouse who runs the show. She’s a one-woman band, and honestly, one of the most impressive people I’ve ever seen in action. She takes your order, cooks every dish herself, packages it with precision, and does it all with the kind of grace and hustle that makes you respect the craft even more. Despite working solo, she never sacrifices quality, and somehow still manages to greet you with a smile and warm energy that makes you feel like family. There’s something so wholesome about walking into D Wok Express. The space is simple but always clean, organized, and efficient. There’s a quiet kind of pride in the way it’s run — the attention to detail, from how each order is bagged to the consistency of flavor, speaks volumes. It’s not flashy, and it doesn’t need to be. It’s the kind of place where the food and kindness speak for themselves. In a world of rushed service and cut corners, D Wok Express reminds you what genuine hospitality looks like. It’s no wonder I keep coming back — time and time again. Whether I’m stopping in after a long day or picking up dinner for my family, I know I can count on a consistently great meal and a kind word from a hostess who treats her work like a calling. To anyone who hasn’t tried this place yet — do yourself a favor. Support a local business that truly deserves your time, your appetite, and your respect. – Brendon Medina
Sichuan Noodles
Average Sichuan style food, unfortunately the fried dumplings tasted off?? The meat tasted sour and fermented?? I only mentioned to the owner after I paid, because we weren't sure if they meant to taste like that? Service was good and serving was generous, but food was just average. Maybe we picked the wrong dishes???
First off the bad reviews are on point according to our experience. Where do I start. We decided to try this place because we are people who like to try new places and things. This was one of the places in China town that wasn't packed or had a waiting line outside. Soon as we walked and sat down the vibes was not good. The waitress was just dry as could be. We ordered something of the menu and that was also advertised with an image of the supposedly the soup you would get. Once we got the soup it looked nothing like the picture. So I asked the waitress about and she responds "its just a picture" very dismissive and just walks away. We didn't not enjoy it and we left it but still payed for it. She definitely needs training on hospitality and customer service. Never offered to fix it or give us another option. We were never checked on. Never received offer for second refills. Also did not like the 2 ladies their were prepping dumplings and peeling peppers with their bare hands at a table across us. Keep in mind all while picking up dirty plates from tables and touching all kinds of things. Also if people that come to your restraunt that are not of your culture it's important to be welcoming and open as they may have questions. But soon as other customers entered their restraunt that were of their culture it was like they pull out the red carpet. Then we had to get up and ask for our check because the lady was too busy sitting at a table on her phone. 🙄 I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AND WE WILL NEVER COME BACK.
Yummy Street
Worst $20 I have spent in China Town. Food is edible, but no Thai flavors. I ordered Pad Thai. The protein to noodle ratio was great, but the dish had no sweetness, sour, or umami. Just tasted like noodles with protein, very boring. I also ordered the Mango Sticky Rice. Same thing as before, it just tasted like plain white rice with mango. No sweet, no salty, no creammy coconut flavor. The rice had maybe 2 a tbsp of sauce and just half a small mango (the mango was very sweet). Restaurant is very clean.
Newly open Thai restaurant in Chinatown Dung Huang, it need a lot of improvement on food. The cashier doesn't speaking much English. Also for mango sticky rice, the number on the screen not matching with paper menu. Need to make sure your order before you paid. Since this is newly open, I will give them few weeks and try again!
Fu Fu Dim Sum and Hot Pot
A Hidden Gem in the New Spot! We’ve heard the whispers—new location, growing pains, mixed reviews. But let me tell you… that was not our experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted like regulars. Our server was on point the entire night—friendly, fast, and totally on top of things. At most Chinatown spots, getting extra rice or a water refill feels like a side quest. Not here! We had barely scooped the last grains of rice onto our plates when a fresh, steaming pot appeared like magic. Our water glasses? Never empty. It’s like they had a sixth sense for our needs. Now the food. The short ribs were rich and tender, the orange peel chicken had the perfect kick of zest and crunch, and the honey pork? Sweet, savory, and absolutely addictive. Great service and seriously delicious food. This place is a staple in Chinatown! P.s. Chopsticks are standard. I think they were judging the book by the cover tried to deliver forks and spoon prior to the meal 😝
Yesterday came here to try their food with my family. Everyone really enjoy the food here. Service is great. Dim sum and steamed chicken with ginger and onion are my favourite dishes. Will definitely coming back!
Panda Express
Panda is one of my favorite establishments to get a fulfilled meal. But as of late specifically at this location it has been trash. I get a bigger plate and the amount of protein meat I receive seems like the same amount as a regular plate. I highly suggest if you get a to go order you need to check before you leave. One pack of soy sauce for a bigger plate does not make sense. Teriyaki chicken seems to taste very bland now. I'm going to try here one more time and give an updated review. Hopefully something changes but as of now it has to get a bit better on serving sizes and taste.
10/10 this location is by far the best Panda Express location I’ve been to. Tu and Katy were extremely helpful and vibrant. They went above and beyond to make sure my visit was tremendous😁. The food was very fresh. Thank you Tu for the peach-lychee drink recommendation 🙏 and thank you so much Katy for your for making our plates, they were perfect.
China Max
very sweet food but they give a good amount of food for cheap yum
Drove all the way up here to try their food, asked for a sample to see if the meat was what I wanted to add to my plate, got back in line and they took the couple that was behind me. Then when I said something she waved me off while saying something about ok. Ill gladly spend my money elsewhere. There are tons of other places to choose from.
China Inn Cafe aka HotWok
This place is really good. Great for takeout. And they have their own delivery driver. I'd much rather do that than use Door Dash or Uber eats. The food was great too. Also, the pictures on Google maps are a misrepresentation. Those were pics from the the china inn off off barker cypress and 290. This is not them and I don't think they are affiliated.
I ordered the Cashew Chicken but there was not one cashew? Disappointing 😞. My husband had the Mongolian Chicken and said it was very good.
Wok D'Lite
**METAL SCREW IN FOOD** Make sure you check your food before you eat because if you find it too late they'll make a big deal about replacing your order when they put a SCREW IN YOUR FOOD I tried asking for a replacement but they said we had already eaten most of the food, which, yes we had because we had already served our plates and had begun eating when we went for seconds we noticed the screw. When I asked for my money back then they wanted to replace the order but not without acting like we just wanted free food. We ended up not even getting any resolution, I don't want food made by people who could possible do something gross to it.
The food is delicious and the sushi is freshly made! One of my favorite spots.
