Tanma Ramen
This was my first time visiting Tanma Ramen in Kingston, NY. Youko (a family friend of mine) is the business owner of this intriguing restaurant, and the miso ramen is by far my favorite along with a side of kimchi. Although I made a reservation ahead of time, I still forgive Youko for missing out on my reservation. Lesson learned: ALWAYS make a reservation beforehand. I like to give this place more than 10 out of 10. It's just what I highly recommend to anyone who would love to try some authentic Japanese ramen.
Absolutely incredible. I haven't been able to get my hands on ramen this good since visiting Japan in 2020. Well worth a visit! Wouldn't recommend if you are picky or have a lot of dietary restrictions but the menu does have a vegan ramen option. Very authentic ramen bar where you can watch your food being made while chatting with the incredibly friendly staff. Will absolutely be visiting again.
SushiMakio
This is my first time trying this place and I’m pretty disappointed. With their prices I expected better. They have good reviews and all of the posted pictures look great, so maybe I had bad luck tonight. Both of my rolls were SO SKIMPY, barely any avocado, eel sauce etc. Also the way they were rolled was really sloppy.. maybe if there was more filling they wouldn't have to roll it over itself again.
Food is delicious. Place needs a bit of an update in my opinion considering the prices it should look a bit nicer.
Kingza Asian Cuisine
By far, the best sushi in PA. The portions are very generous, and the crab raggon was easily the best I've ever had, stuffed from end to end, creamy, and well-seasoned. The passion fruit iced tea was not only delicious but also beautifully packaged, with a sealed lid and a cup filled with ice that didn’t sweat on the outside. The experience was delightful from start to finish.
I had an awesome time at this spot! The service was top-notch—everyone was really friendly and made sure we were taken care of from the moment we sat down. The food was seriously delicious. The sushi rolls were super fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. Every bite had a great mix of textures and tastes, and the sashimi was so tender. The vibe of the restaurant was cozy but still felt really elegant with how everything was plated. I left feeling full and super happy. Definitely coming back when I’m in the mood for sushi again. Highly recommend checking it out if you're looking for a great meal and experience!
Kingston Wok
The food was okay, but I felt it could have packed a stronger punch in terms of flavor. The Thai Salad was underwhelming—tiny portion, and it relied entirely on the dressing for taste. I even had to add lettuce at home to make it feel more substantial. For a combo meal, I expected larger portions overall. On the bright side, the egg roll and hot and sour soup were quite good. The soup, in particular, was well-balanced, with a nice mix of flavors. The Chicken in Spicy Peanut Sauce had potential—the sauce was excellent—but there simply wasn’t enough of it. Each bite should be coated in flavor, not leaving me reaching for packet soy sauce to fill the gap. Overall, I wanted bold, spicy flavors to hit me hard, but it fell short. Just a bit more attention to portion sizes and seasoning, and this could have been a standout meal.
This restaurant has great food the staff went above and beyond as we got there just before they were closing and stayed open a little but later just to be kind. THE FOOD OMG fresh and flavorful and the presentation was great. I was a chef many years ago and i give this place a 10 out of 10 .
Mid Hudson Buffet
For the lunch price, it’s a great place to grab a quick bite. Dont expect the food to be anything amazing. There are some seafood options but there could be more honestly. The crab stuffed mushrooms were good. Some items are not specified.
We have always had a great experience here. Been dining here for many years. Last night we booked a rear room for a family gathering and they absolutely shined. Great food, service and laughs. Our waitress was the best. Great job to all involved. Highly recommended
No 1 House
I've only eaten here about 3 or 4 times and it seemed to be decent food. Although yesterday when I got take out food from here, I got about five fork fulls of food into eating and I bit right into a piece of METAL! I immediately got my money back and contacted the health department! No one should be at risk of getting hurt by a piece of metal while eating. Be cautious if you ever do eat here, but after this experience, I would never recommend their food to anyone!
One of the best Chinese food restaurants in the area. Everything I've tried over the last 3 years has been made with fresh ingredients. Pick ups are ready quickly and always correct. Great comfy food. Their house fried rice is fantastic.
Super Bowl Cuisine
They are always open on holidays and the staff is very hard working and friendly. All the vegan food we have had is delicious. Probably the best vegan Chinese food I've ever had. The general tso's veg chicken is SO good especially as well as the fried rice. So are the scallion pancakes. Reasonably priced and good size portions. I am thankful this restaurant is within driving dstance of me. 🙏
Stumbled upon this place when the family was upstate for a weekend and it was already 8:30p- not much open and we thought this was only a hotpot place. We noted they had a veg/vegan option or two and thought- ok better than other options at the moment. Located in a strip mall, the parking lot in front of this place had one car, yes just one. Uh oh. As we walked in, we were shocked at the sheer size of the place- dozens upon dozens of booths and tables. Our host asked which menu- to which we guessed and clumsily said “Vegetarian or Vegan?” They had one, and oh boy were we pleasantly surprised! Rows and rows of all vegetarian and vegan options. This place had potential by the menu alone. We ended up ordering spring rolls, veg drumsticks, home style tofu, general’s tofu and Mongolian veg beef along with veg fried rice. When I tell you this food came out fast, I mean DC comics Flash fast (the tv show version- which we all know is the better Flash anyway)! Spring Rolls- standard fare hard to mess these up Veg Drumsticks - generous portion with 5! Perfect crisp on the outside with chewy and lightly salty inside- served with a sweet dipping sauce Home Style Tofu - tons of fresh veggies- zucchini, mushrooms, carrots, cabbage, broccoli. General’s Tofu- I want to back right now and order a few of these. Super crunchy tofu with a lightly sweet/savory sauce- perfect ratio! Mongolian Veg Beef- loaded with onions but do not be deterred the flavor was enhanced by them and seasoning was just right Veg fried rice - executed well, just wish it had a slight more salt- easily overlooked with all the other great dishes! My guess is the empty place on a Friday night means they do a lot of carry out or delivery business. Our dine-in experience was great- kind servers and quick rollout of food! Wish we had these types of spots near us in NJ…
Wing Shui Chinese Restaurant
Great takeout. Very friendly and quick service. The best place for singapore mei fun. I've tried almost all the Chinese restaurants around here and they all have a particular specialty they shine in. Plentiful large chunky pieces of fresh veggies and meat. In general their dishes I've tried have plentiful fresh veggies which I like instead of your token 4 pieces of broccoli at other places. Lots of sauce if you are into that. Their sauteed double cooked pork is great and traditional roast pork, but I do like Super Bowl's better since they use pork belly with black bean chili sauce so that just depends what style you like better. A bit on the pricier side, but understandable due to location, but it is worth it and balances out. Portions are packed.
Amazing food! My first time here. I’m addicted to Chinese food and this place is 10/10. Definitely get the steamed veggie dumplings, they were so fresh and the dough was not too thick like most other places. Also we had about an hour drive after we picked it up and it was still hot!
Eng's
Stopped in for impromptu take out this evening and I am so glad we did. I’ve had roughly 20 years of eating Chinese food all over the USA. Coast to coast. Florida to Canada. I can’t remember a better tasting meal, nicer atmosphere or better service anywhere. The hostess was courteous and made suggestions even while serving other take out customers who had called ahead, and we could barely decide what to try since from the moment you walk into Eng’s you get the feeling everything is going to be good. We went with personal favorites, and the owner Tom Sit brought the food out soon after we ordered. We heard about how the pandemic had forced their table service to abruptly end, and how difficult it was to restart. We spoke of loyalty and of passion for cooking and providing quality food for the community. I saw a man dedicated to his craft and business and I hope his restaurant finds the support it needs to thrive. The food was stellar, the flavor unparalleled, and the quality of cooking was excellent. The meat was very tender, the noodles were perfect, the rice was flavorful. The egg rolls are home made and absolutely decadent. There are no photos in this review because the delicious aroma of the meal beckoned us to eat it immediately. I feel good after eating the food from Eng’s kitchen. My belly is satisfied and light but my wallet still feels heavy! We’ll be back, we’ll bring friends, and we hope to eat in the beautiful dining room one day soon. Thank you for a great meal and experience.
Engs is an institution. The food is good, the service is super friendly, and the prices are very affordable. There's no wonder they've been around for almost a hundred years! I do hope the dining room will be able to open again in the future as it's quite special
440 Pizzeria
440 knocked it out of the park again with their quintessential NY pie. I immediately seek out this place as soon as I arrive from TN to visit my family because I know they will have exactly that pizza I wish I could find at home. Staff always treats us as family and cooks their food with pride. Keep it up guys.
Absolutely horrible. Oil filled my box of wings. Garlic Parm wings didn’t have any flavor. Just oil, lots of oil.
Great Wall
Honestly this is some of the best Chinese in the area. I grew up on Long Island with high quality Chinese and find it very hard to find anything comparable near here. The chicken is great (most places it is rubbery). Food is consistently good. Fried rice has great flavor. The veggie dumplings are the best I’ve ever had with thick dough and a delicious dipping sauce. The woman at the counter is very nice and always smiling.
Place is getting way too expensive and the quality is the same. Think I’ll start trying other Chinese restaurants. It’s a shame cause I like the restaurant. It’s still fast food though.
Dragon Garden
Clean place for quick & easy takeout with a good sized parking lot that is easy to get in & out of. Very good and fresh tasting food. Good Chinese for what's in the area. Picture is general tso lunch which is enough for 2 servings and fried donuts that were plentiful and half eaten in this pic for $13ish. Fried rice was good. Would stop by again. Updated pics is boneless ribs and beef and Broccoli both were good. Fried dumplings and crab Rangoon both yum. And of course get the fried donuts each time.
Portion size was average. Food is pretty bland overall. Probably the worst roast pork fried rice I have ever had. The fried rice in my combo was just yellow rice with a few tiny pieces of pork. No flavor and none of the traditional ingredients you would normally get in fried rice. I hope this was a mistake but I doubt it knowing how cheaply food in restaurants is made lately. I was hopeful for the this place due to the great reviews. 21 years in HV and still have not found decent Chinese food. Another reason to cook at home.
