Red Lobster
All the food was exceptional! The Staff wasvery nice and helpful. Very nice place to sit and visit and have a meal. The Brussel sprouts are my favorite. The bacon macaroni is also very good.
The service was spectacular. Our waiter was amazing, he was on top of everything with food and drinks- and very kind. He had such a warm presence! Made me feel like I was eating at home. The atmosphere here was great energy. Our food was delicious. Best experience I have had dining out in years. They made my daughter's day when they sang her happy birthday too. Thank you!
Hillside Indian Cuisine
Amazing buffet. The food never disappoints. Every weekend the buffet changes. The looks like brown mess, but try it and you'll not believe the taste. Only reason service is low on rating is it was a buffet.
One of the best place in Kalamazoo to have Indian food. We get everything at this place with good spicy food. The waiters here are so humble and good, they treat you so good and be always smiling and talking in a good way.
Ziki Japanese Restaurant
I found some positive reviews about this place on reddit so I decided to give it a try. I'm traveling from out of town and have dined at many different Japanese restaurants across the country. This is a family operated business. The service is exemplary. The menu is simple yet diverse. There is something here for everyone and everything on the menu is best in its class. If I ever find myself in the area again I will go out of my way to dine here. A+ service. A+ atmosphere. A+ food. We went overboard with three appetizers three entrees and two desserts for two people and still didn't break $100. This place offers an extremely high value at any price. This type of quality usually cost at least 50% more. I wish every Japanese restaurant across America could learn from Ziki. They really do set the standard here.
The food was good and very hot when I received it. The restaurant itself had a cute charm to it. The prices were reasonable. I went for lunch and there was only one other table of customers so it was pretty empty which was nice. For appetizers, we ordered: shrimp tempura and eel with avocado roll. For the entrees, we had beef ramon with creamy pork bone soup and hibachi new york strip. The steak was a little overcooked and chewy, but overall enjoyable. The ramen was a good portion size and the broth was rich and flavorful. The eel was good, but nothing that stuck out as different from any of eel roll from another restaurant. I also ordered a Japanese soda which was fun to drink with the glass marble inside. There were only 2 flavors available but the orange was good. There isn't much seating so during busy times I anticipate longer wait times. There was plenty of parking in a convenient location.
A Thai Cafe
If you're craving authentic Thai cuisine, this is the spot to visit. This family-owned restaurant, which I've been frequenting since 2003, is undeniably the best Thai food in town. Even though I've moved to California, I always make it a point to stop by A Thai Cafe in Portage, Kalamazoo, whenever I visit my college student at UM. Vienna and her husband are dedicated to ensuring that every customer leaves completely satisfied with their meal. I particularly enjoy her Papaya salad, Massaman curry, Red curry, and the Tom Kha (coconut soup). The restaurant is clean and inviting, and the staff is polite and friendly. I absolutely love this place!
Phenomenal food and service. We’ll definitely be back! The food was tasty and maybe the best Thai food I’ve ever had
Noodles and Company
Very great pasta place! The mac and cheese is tasty and super cheesy, but I feel it's only good when you dine in. The workers are super friendly, and tge place is really cool and decorated with photos with places across the world. It's a bit pricey. 8.5/10! 🍝
Update January 19, 2025 My husband had the beef stroganoff, and I had the new dish, lemon garlic shrimp scampi. The beef was tender and very flavorful. It had a mushroom sherry cream sauce with egg noodles. There seemed to be a lot of steak. The shrimp scampi was very good as well. It had a cream sauce with artichokes and cherry tomatoes. There seemed to be a lot of shrimp. My one critique is the artichokes. I love them, but the outside layers could have been taken out. The outside layers can't be eaten, well, I couldn't eat them...lol. Other than that, I would order it again and again. 😋 Thank you for a great meal. Japanese pan noodles with chicken is delicious. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Always asking if we need anything. The restaurant is always clean. Will go again.
Sakura 2
Where can I start, this place is awesome! The food is just delicious, most notably the Hibachi Salmon. The service is top notch whether hibachi or regular restraunt, and there's this one restraunt waitress that we see every time who is really cool! The hibachi chefs, they have more talent than I will ever have, and don't be surprised if they have a few tricks up their sleeve! It really hurts my heart when I see people just on their phone and ignoring the chefs. 10/10! 🍡🦐🍣🐟
The sushi and food from the kitchen was OK. Their specialty sushi rolls need more flavor. It seems they make all of them with the same 4 or 5 ingredients. No real flavor explosions or differences in texture between most of them. The salad was excellent with the meal although the tomato was bland and dry. The rest of the salad ingredients were good. Overall, the food was good and the service was adequate. Neither was extraordinary but since they are convenient, we will probably visit again.
Cravings Deli
The Black Forrest Cake is the best I've ever had. Very good Ramen, the summer rolls taste very fresh. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is very cute and welcoming. I love how it feels like I've gone on a quick getaway.
This latest visit was one of the many excellent visits. The food is always amazing and the service is great as well. The crews are always on point. This time we got Szechuan Beef Brisket Ramen with wide noodles and eggs, Spicy Miso Ramen with wide noodles, shrimp and bbq pork, and Crab Rangoon. The place is always packed, that means the food is delicious!! Hands down!! It's worth the drive one hour and few minutes from Holland 😁🙌🏻. One of our favourite places for ramen 🫶🏻👍🏻
Kumo Hibachi & Sushi
Terrible experience at Kumo Hibachi Grill. We sat waiting for what felt like forever before anyone even acknowledged us. The service was sluggish and indifferent, as if we were an afterthought. When our drinks finally arrived, I took a sip of what was supposed to be lemonade—only to realize it was literally soup. Yes, actual soup instead of lemonade. At that point, it was clear that attention to detail and customer service were not priorities here. Between the long wait, poor service, and the baffling drink mix-up, this was easily one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. Definitely won’t be returning.
Kumo Hibachi & Sushi has a trendy and inviting atmosphere that makes a great first impression. Unfortunately, the service didn’t quite match the vibe—our server was hard to understand and very slow, which made for a frustrating dining experience. As for the food, there were some highlights and a few letdowns. The sushi was actually quite good, but it's important to note that it's priced per piece, which adds up quickly. The steak hibachi featured choice-grade meat, so the quality wasn't quite what you'd expect at this price point. The ramen was a disappointment, made with freeze-dried noodles. While the portion was large, the quality made it hard to enjoy. The miso soup tasted more like chicken broth than traditional miso, and the salad featured less-than-fresh lettuce, though the dressing was decent. Overall, while the ambiance is cool and there are a few decent menu items, the high prices just don't reflect the quality of the food or service. There's potential here, but it feels underdelivered.
DEEP BLUE SEAFOOD Restaurant & Full BAR
Fantastic experience all around! Homemade cooking at its finest. The most incredible gumbo & hush puppies I’ve ever had. All of the food that we ordered came promptly, very hot & we all received a very generous amount. Our waitress, Makayla, was very sweet & attentive always making sure we had what we needed. Tasha, the chef, came to our table several times to check on us. We love to support small businesses, especially when they are this good.
The food was so good. you can tell they make everything fresh. We got the inferno heat level build your own boil and it was super flavorful. fried pickles were good too. the waitress was super attentive and funny. overall a cool place, can’t wait to come back.
Ziingo
An offshoot of Chin Chin. The service was fantastic as they provided great portion size and good recommendations. My problem is I got shrimp fried rice, they took the rice from the front line and used it to create the rice. This is really not a problem, the real issue was that my shrimp fried rice had no flavor it was kind of bland which was very surprising. I will try it again and just chalk it up to a possible one time thing. My partner enjoyed her mil very much. I will let you know how the next one goes.
Hot and fast. Love the taste and portions are awesome.
Fortune Cookie
Will always go here over any similar places around. Family owned, super nice. Great portions, and quality is through the roof. And if you tip them well they remember and will hook up your order every time after. Wish I could give more than 5 stars
I've ordered several different things from here over the years, and I have always liked whatever I got. Still no indoor dining allowed, though and this is being written on 10/31/2024. This would have been 5 stars with indoor dining. Time to pull the chairs back down off the tables and allow indoor dining again.
Los Amigos Portage
If you're longing for a favorite restaurant in southwest Detroit but can't wait to get there or won't be in town any time soon, this is a good substitute. Very fresh and flavorful salsa and chips are a great way to start your meal, possibly accompanied by an adult beverage. Happy hour is a generous four hour period every night, running until 8 pm. Taco Tuesday is hard to beat at $1.99 each for any variety. Excellent quality and dinner for two with drinks for under $30.
Table was somewhat dirty when we were seated. The music was skipping and distorted before finally fixing itself. The service was fast and waiter friendly. The food was okay. Kinda thrown together. But definitely edible. Cheese sauce was good.
