China Inn Restaurant
The wonton soup was good but the house special fried rice is a joke! There was nothing "fried" about the rice, it seems to me like they cooked all ingredients separately and then mixed them in a bowl. The onions were raw and the chicken looks boiled
We are regulars here and are always satisfied. It isn’t a fancy place, but they get the job done and get the basics right. If you can’t get egg rolls right you shouldn’t be in business. Happily, the egg rolls are exactly right and I haven’t had any regrets from any other dishes ( sooo many other dishes)from egg foo young to moo shu pork and beyond. My order has always been correct and 20 minutes seems to be the average for when it is ready, maybe 20-25 when very busy. I am happy to have China Inn close by when an egg roll craving hits!
Great Dragon
Great food. Perfect and professional service every time. My go-to
Their food never disappointed! Staff is always so friendly.
King Chef
I love Linda. She always gets my order right. They have great food and sushi, too. They deliver! That is so convenient when you just don't wanna go pick it up. My favorite dishes are: Singapore Mei Fun Mongolian Beef or Chicken Shrimp with Lobster Sauce My children love: Beef on a Stick Crab Rangoon Home Style Tofu Fried Scallops Sweet Potato Roll Sesame Chicken. They always give us a free soda, too. If you haven't tried it, go ahead! It is superior to Chop Sticks and Peking
Absolutely awful. Door dashed it which wasn’t cheap and it tastes like it was freezer burnt! We ended up tossing it and eating breakfast instead. Ordered general Tao, beef and veggies and eggrolls. This was our first time trying this place and do NOT RECOMMEND
Golden Gate Restaurant
Came here to celebrate my birthday last Saturday and was VERY disappointed. There was a huge Georgian birthday and almost all tables were taken for it. Nobody told me about that. It was like if I go to a someone’s birthday without invitation. I felt so uncomfortable and embarrassed. We were far far away from the stage bc as I mentioned before all tables were taken by this birthday party. We had to listen to a lot of Georgian songs which we didn’t know and could not dance. We had to watch videos with congratulation from this big screen but it was so strange for the rest of the people who were there. When we asked a dj to play some songs for us he charged us $30 for 1 song. Yes maybe you have such kind of rules but! If you didn’t warn people about Georgian birthday at least let other people enjoy THEIR BIRTHDAY too later when Georgian people left by playing music for us! Later dj started to play songs for us but what was this $30 request for and why. At 11:30pm this birthday party began to go away and around 12:00 there were 4 tables left and the restaurant was empty. I was expecting a big party here with a lot of fun but we had to go home earlier because it was so boring to dance just for ourselves and two more tables with weird men who always wanted to touch us and security did nothing about it. I loved my birthday here last year but it was so messed up this year. You HAVE TO WARN people about such kind of celebrations and let them choose if they want to spend their birthday with a huge celebration next to them. Food was 10/10 as always btw. And servers did their job great!
I will think twice before I ever go there again!! Everything was arranged: I discussed the menu with the chef-cook Ella, ordered a birthday cake from her and left a deposit. My biggest concern was that that there was enough food. The chef assured me that there would be more than enough. On Saturday morning I called to confirm that there were going to be 10 ppl. However, they messed up. The food that I ordered was never served. I even discussed with Ella what type of cake I want for the Birthday guy! But we did not get the cake!!!!! How come??! If we did not have our own cake, that would have been a disaster. The bottom line: mediocre food, OK service, and horrible management. They did all they could to f... up the birthday party: forget about the cake, put unopened wine bottles on the table (literally, I had to ask 3 waiters to open the bottles), ignored my preferences regarding the food. I can say my guests were not happy - I would not be happy!!! I went to Samarkand a couple times - it's great there!!! Music, food, service!!! Never-ever let GG ruin your party - go to Samarkand instead!!!
China Palace Wexford
My daughter and I stopped here for an early dinner at her suggestion. Good call! The food was fresh, fast and prepared well. We started with a California Roll that was excellent. WW Shrimp & vegetables for me and chicken Lo-Mein for her. Both were excellent as well. I’m addition, our server was fantastic. I was I had asked for her name. Highly recommended.
***Update Aug 2024, more than a year since last post*** IMPROVED RATING from 3 to 4⭐️s. As a foodie who values authentic cuisines, it should BE CLEAR THAT cooking here, like the vast majority of similar eateries in America, is chinese-style. MOST 😡😡😡😡😡 are unhealthy, greasy, salty or overly sweet, or over fried As such, it is surprisingly pleasant 😎 😎😎😎 to actually find a chinese-style eatery deserving 4⭐️s. TO BE CLEAR, food here is NOT traditional / authentic to any of the regional cuisines of China. It’s an AMERICAN VERSION, which is dismal in the vast majority of eateries in America and the West. The chinese-style menu has changed and has improved over the course of year👏👏👏. There seems to be a more creative “chef speciality” section. 😊Palace Platter Appetizer (good for 2-3): a very good sampling of flavorful American starters. *** throw away that pesky crab rangoon, ask for egg roll instead, AND ask for hot chili oil to lift up flavors*** 😊 Seven Wonders (large serving good for 2): a surprisingly delightful medley of fried chicken fillet and fried shrimp served on top of sautéed beef, scallops and crunchy veggies. Flavorful without the grease. 😊 Pork Egg Roll: Surprisingly very flavorful by itself without the need of a dipping sauce. Pack filling, without the typical greasiness. 😊 Vegetable Delight: a lovely sauté of mixed crunchy vegetables, subtle flavors, silken sauce. 😊 Eggplant Dumplings (good for 2-3): probably the most creative listing. Chinese Eggplant stuffed with shrimps and scallops, lightly breaded and fried, served with tart-lightly sweet brown sauce… 👏👏 to my palate, there’s lively semblance of Shanghainese flavor. ASK for Jasmine Tea: cleanses the palace, stimulates gastric juices.🤩 Service is outstanding 👏👏👏. ++++++
Panda Express
First time at an Panda Express and can't say enough good things about Terry aka Craig according to his name tag. Super personal, energetic and very efficient. He should be the role model for all your restaurants. now the food, it was fresh, hot and very good! We will definitely be back!
Their food is always fresh and their service is great a good group of people work there always very respectful and nice
New China House
Let’s just say I got old food! My egg roll was cooked in old grease and the filling was bare minimum! How do you mess up shrimp mei fun it’s only noodles and shrimp! NEVER I REPEAT NEVER AGAIN! I been on the toilet all day!
The best hole in the wall Chinese place in the area. We’ve been getting them for over 8 years and never been disappointed. The portions vs price are HUGE for what you pay. Always have leftovers for lunch the next day. Dumplings are delicious and soft, but crispy edges. Chicken and broccoli is the dish I recommend. Shrimp fried rice is always very good as well. Two orders of 8 dumplings, an order of cheese rangoons, a large chicken broccoli with rice (lasted two meals), and a general tsos with rice (lasted two meals). Was $45. Fed four people for multiple days!
China Taste
Delicious, hot food, always ready in 10-15 minutes. The two gentlemen at the front are always very polite and kind. I order the chicken broccoli, which has excellent meat and fresh broccoli.
I had heard that this location had changed ownership recently, I drove right past Asian Star in leetsdale to go out of my way to coraopolis just to try the food with the new owner - big mistake ! Their food is more expensive and not nearly as good. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken and it was just mediocre, it lacked the normal spices and flavor - it tasted like everything was cooked in beef broth rather than being mildly hot and spicy like Kung Pao is supposed to be. It was even watery rather than saucy. I was asked if I wanted white rice or fried rice thinking I was being given a choice - they failed to mention the going with the fried rice would be at least $2 more. By the time I paid and left it was $17.11 with tax which makes it $4 and $5 more than most other places for food that was only substandard. Even the fried rice was not very good, it was basically just rice it was fried in a little oil - no flavor whatsoever and not at all like normal fried rice from anywhere else. This place was a huge and pricey disappointment. It was not at all of the quality it used to be war of the quality of the other local Chinese restaurants. I've had Chinese from all over the United States and this by far was the worst of all. Never again will I bother going there even if I was right there nearby - instead I would travel out of my way to leetsdale ambridge or five points because it would certainly be worth the trip. Anyone who claims this is really good Chinese food or worse yet the best or great obviously does not know good Chinese food - therefore no credibility and no relevance.
China House
Ordered grub hub egg foo young was ok. The chicken was dry taste old and the wontons definitely weren't fresh.
I came in today with co workers to order takeout. The lady who took are order was sweet and inviting. The place looked clean. My food tasted pretty good, and they agreed theirs was too. The only thing is, I would have liked more beef. I optd out of the rice.
Panda Express
The food is always good but the service has generally become a bit of a train wreck in recent months. It doesn't seem to matter how far ahead we place our order, I'm usually left waiting for anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes for my order. Tonight I placed an order at 7:15 for an 8:15 pickup. As I'm typing this tonight it's 8:40 and they haven't started putting my order together yet. At least 3 or 4 times we've placed orders and they didn't have the large entree containers, leaving us with a mix of different sized containers to sort through that are unmarked, in the hopes that everything is there. Last time they shorted us an entire entree and I had to go back in because of that. Just a disorganized mess. This seems to be more and more of a problem every time we come in, and this is going to be the last time. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. This place is a train wreck. EDIT: It's 8:55 and I just got my food. They've lost a customer here.
I usually get panda once every week or 2 from this location &always good but today was a horrible experience. To start, my 30min delivery order turned into an hour. When it arrived my order was missing the Peach Lychee drink and a whole Honey Sesame chicken entree! I ordered delivery through uber eats so not sure if that was on the restaurant or the driver but my bag was sealed so I am guessing the store didn’t put said missing items in the bag. But the quality of food I did end up receiving was horrible. The chow mein was completely dried out and 80% cabbage very little noodles. The shrimp was soo much smaller & way less seasoned than when I ordered the exact same thing last week, and the kung pao was all vegetable! All around fail &waste of $30 because Uber will not refund me for the missing food
Mulan
Their food is good, but yes a little pricey. they won't tell you when you call and order a lunch combo that are charging/serving you a dinner combo, cause they don’t do lunch. I had the beef and broccoli and it was tasty. The broccoli was cooked to perfection, with a little snap to it and not over cooked and soft. I also had the wonton soup, the wontons were okay and had a bit of meat in it but the broth was a little bland, just salty water. The big issue with this place is their decor is just a mess, everything still wrapped in blue tarp, stacked up tables, boxes everywhere. The speaker is obnoxiously loud and credit card machine beeps at volume 11. And not once has the little girl (and/or Mom) working behind the counter ever smiled or looked cheery, it's always an sour demeanor right down to the voice and It's just an unhappy vibe this place puts out. No customer appreciation at at here. But the food is okay and just about the only place in the area you can order decent dishes with vegetables in it.
Our favorite go-to for Chinese takeout! Food is consistent and has become comfort food for us. Some of our favorites are the hot and sour soup, the Lo Mein, sweet and sour chicken and Teriyaki Beef on stick. The other comments about the girl at the counter are true, but it's part of the charm for us. It is truly a family business and she has been in charge of the counter since she was little. My husband and I love her personality but it might not be everyone's cup of tea. She's never been rude/mean to us, she's just blunt. Lol!
Mark PI'S Express
We have to phone ahead our orders and drive to the pick up line to get our food. The food and the service are still amazing with the same great prices. I got the Egg roll, Egg Drop Soup and the Tofu Delight---extra spicy. Yummy as usual.
I did not like my food very well at all. I will drive the extra miles and go to New Lexington for really good Chinese food.. The chicken I ordered was too hard to eat. There wasn't enough General Tso sauce on it. The brown rice was edible. My sister said her food was okay but they didn't give her enough sauce either and I ordered extra for her. I asked for Lemonade and got Coke. I won't be going back.
