New Treasure Restaurant
Price is very reasonable. They have lunch special and dim sum. Not a big menu but it’s good enough for variety of different dishes. The place look a little dated. Staff is polite and food is serve quickly and hot!
One of my go-to spots for lunch and comfort is the New Treasure Restaurant. Their food quality is top-notch, the dim sum is one of the best I have had, and I personally think they make the best Hot and Sour soup in Toronto! They have a wide range of lunch specials available every day, and the restaurant is always bustling with people, ensuring that the food is always fresh and delicious. Looking forward to my next visit!
SHINYI Handmade Dumplings | dumpling house of 416
The dumplings are pretty good - not mind blowing or anything, but they’re nice and fresh. The fried dumplings are the way to go here, even though I usually prefer steamed. They’re really juicy and flavourful. The peach juice that I got was also absolutely delicious. Service is fairly quick as well. No real complaints, but it’s not my favourite place to get dumplings in Toronto. If you’re not a huge fan of very umami flavours in your dumplings, this might not be your ideal spot. Prices are pretty good as well.
Nice little place for dumplings, but they actually have quite an extensive menu. Some dishes are quite reasonable and others are on the pricier side. Portions are generous. Not as crowded as other places close by, but worth a spot on the rotation. I would recommend this place for both locals and visitors.
Fishman Lobster Clubhouse Restaurant
well-known for its massive seafood towers and fresh lobster, and the food definitely lived up to the hype in terms of taste and presentation. The portions were generous, and the lobster was deliciously prepared. However, the experience was not without its drawbacks. The prices were quite high for what you get, and the wait times, even with a reservation, were longer than expected. Service felt rushed, and the overall dining environment was quite chaotic. It’s certainly worth trying, at least once for the experience!
It was delicious and a fun experience. I spent 550 bucks here. I ordered 8lb lobster and 2 Vancouver crabs. Few fried rice dishes and a vegetable. I liked lobster better than crabs. They don't have soft drink refills so you know. Their booking system is one of the worst so verify your booking before you get there.
Homemade Ramen
After the AutoShow, we stopped for dinner, and I have to admit, I initially found the name of the restaurant hilarious. Turns out, it is a hand-pulled noodle specialty spot, and any doubts I had were completely unnecessary. The noodles stick to the basics in the best way possible, with a perfect texture that I really appreciated. While some might prefer a heavier broth, I loved how light and refreshing it was. For anyone looking for a bowl of soup that is both satisfying and not overly rich, this would be a great choice. From the skewers to the condiments, I noticed that this place does not rely on heavy seasoning but instead focuses on balance and clarity of flavors. The execution was spot on, and I would not mind coming back to explore more of the menu. Overall, the food quality was excellent, the service was decent and kind, and best of all, it will not hurt your wallet. A solid spot worth revisiting!
The fastest service I’ve ever had! The restaurant was busy but we still got our food fast, and it was delicious. Might be a little salty for some so keep that in mind. We got the pancakes and shared some noodles, and got so full from that! I love thick noodles and the texture was perfect!!! 🍜
Hey Noodles
This place is awesome! It’s super cheap and incredibly yummy. I went twice and ordered the vegetarian soup — there’s only one option to choose from, but I love how the spice and numbing levels are customizable. The girls who work there are very friendly, and it’s such a pleasant experience interacting with them. As for the food, I ordered the fungus in spicy sauce both times, and it was absolutely delicious. I also appreciate the variety of vegetarian appetizers available. My partner got a meat soup, and they absolutely loved it. I’ll definitely be coming back for the hot vegetarian soups, though I’d really appreciate more variety in vegetarian soup options.
I came here literally weekly throughout university. The noodles are good, you can eat for under $20, and they're just as spicy as I like them. The staff were always really nice and accommodating to lone diners. It gets really busy in peak hours, but it's usually calmed down by 7.30 or 8, if that matters to you. I'd really reccomend trying it!
Dumpling & More Chinese Restaurant 味多多麻辣烫饺子馆
Came here for dumplings and malatang soup, and they did not disappoint. They've changed the name and the sign, so it was a bit confusing heading in. The dumplings were decent, and I had a large selection of veggies to choose from for the soup. There is of course every other item you'd want to put into a hotspot, but I was happy with my vegetarian selection. I would definitely come back.
Such a great find! You can pick your soup base and all your ingredients and they'll cook it for you. Loved the herbal pork belly & chicken broth. They also have a ton of other food options (savoury pancakes, dumplings ofc etc.). Very reasonable price and delicious!
Urban Hakka
Very reasonably priced for the area and good go-to for after-drinks consumption. Pad Thai (see photo) is a bit on the sweet side for me, with a rather carmine colour, but still decent and beef added for free (good for a 2-for-1 deal via ubereats if looking for quantity). Tandoori Chicken Fried Rice (see photo) is better and enjoyable. In the past, also had Chilli Fish, which is great on the day of. Vegetable Fried Rice is a bit plain jane, but that is to be expected perhaps. In the era of inflation, a decent neighbourhood shop.
Came here for a late lunch and was not happy with a plastic seal cover of a sauce in my drink. When I brought this to the servers attention, she asked me if I put it or if i was opening a sauce at the table. We ordered the masala lollipop, spring rolls, Manchurian gravy chicken and the dry chili chicken, everything was tasty but the chili chicken. There was an insane amount of salt that we couldn't digest and sent it back. The service overall was whatever- i wouldn't return.
House Of Gourmet
House of Gourmet is a great spot for delicious Chinese food. The taste and quality of the food were excellent, and everything was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend trying the BBQ ribs, which were tender and flavorful, the soup, which was rich and comforting, and the beef with vegetables, which was fresh and well-seasoned. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a nice place to dine in. The waitresses were friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall positive experience. However, the washroom wasn’t in the best condition, which was a downside. Overall, if you’re looking for great food and good service, House of Gourmet is definitely worth a visit!
I’m from Asia so I have relatively high expectations when it comes to Chinese food haha hence the rating. Would probably find a better spot. But don’t get me wrong, the food is decent and does the job if you’re craving Chinese food. Decent serving sizes — great taste and flavor. Just had better that’s all. Service is nothing great, typical Chinese restaurant service. Atmosphere is what is expected of a Chinese restaurant. Nothing great. Just decent. Would go back if/ when convenient or with friends :)
Fudao Noodle House
Always love coming to this place. Very consistent, friendly, and most importantly, the soup is always piping hot! Would recommend to anyone.
Very cosy place with delicious, unpretentious food that tastes home-cooked and natural and has wholesome ingredients. The menu is simple. The soup tastes hearty and clean - without lots of greasy or attention-grabbing flavour enhancers. The people are very nice and make you feel at home. Genuine hospitality and generosity m, offering free noodle top-ups to the delicious soup - if any were to remain in the pot.😊
New Sky Restaurant
This place takes only cash or debit. Lots of seating and had no problems getting a table right away on a Sunday evening. They served tea as well for the table. The BBQ pork fried rice was flavourful and I liked the texture of the rice. The rest of the food came a bit later. The chow mein was decent. I would have liked it to have a bit more flavour and found it a bit bland. The string beans were crispy and tasted good. We also had a beef dish, which didn’t have as much meat as we were expecting. That wasn’t so flavourful either. All in all, it’s a good amount of food for the price and the quality was fair.
New Sky Garden restaurant by Spadina and College is a local staple, established in Chinatown for decades. This review is based on a recent delivery order so no comments are made for in-person environment or customer service. I ordered a selection of dishes: Beef sauteed with ginger and green onions Crispy beef with sesame - by far our favorite. The beef is coated and fried with a slight hint of sweetness, topped with sesame seeds. 4/5 Noodles with chicken and vegetables - this is a little different from the usual fried noodle dish. The noodles didn't seem as crispy or fried as I'm used to which was okay for us because it seemed less oily and not as salty. It suited my palate but I can see it as possibly offputting for others who may be more familiar with the more fried version. 4/5 Grouper and tofu - a favorite in our home. No fuss, plenty of fish and tofu, not too oily or salty, easy to eat and quite comforting. 4/5 Chinese bok choy with garlic - again a simpler dish but so easy to eat with a nice hit or garlic 4/5 Steamed Chinese chicken dish with dates and goji berries - I would say this has great authentic taste, rich and very flavorful. The only downfall is that you dont get a lot of meat and have to pick through it because it is bone in chicken with pieces oddly chopped. 4/5 Ha gow/shrimp dumplings - an easy staple with plenty of shrimp. No complaints overall. Tastes as expected. 4/5 Would I give New Sky Garden another try? I would actually because I'd like to try a few more dishes to get a more well rounded experience. I was eating with others so had to order with their palates in mind. Portions were decent for the price paid. Overall, a pleasurable experience.
Chi Dim Sum
Tried the special, very good! A small bowl of wonton which was fantastic and a nice plate of red sauced chicken w white rice. Added a bit of hot sauce. Service was good perhaps too keen, they came by too many times, perhaps it's a thing overseas but I'd like my meals undisturbed. Overall a great edpericne, nice tasty and clean.
The food was overall yummy. We had the Peking duck. They also gave us a roll I think of crunchy spicy salmon sushi which was really nice of them and that tasted good as well. We heard that the duck was tableside service but it wasn’t, and it also looked a bit old so we were kind of skeptical but it tasted good. Otherwise the staff were really nice and the price is pretty cheap.
Ye Skewers Hot Pot 三大爷串串香
Everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly in the hot pot. The real highlight was the service — our waitress Jill was amazing! Super friendly, attentive, and made sure we were always taken care of. She kept everything running smoothly and made the experience even more enjoyable. Great food, great service — can’t wait to come back!
This is a great place for friends to get together and the location is very spacious and service was superb, our server Ada was super friendly and attended to our table very often asking how everything is and went above and beyond to make our visit very enjoyable. The food selection isn’t very big with a self serve area where you can pick your own skewers and seafood etc. Also enjoyed how it’s one person per pot so we don’t have to worry about sharing with others. They also have all you can drink pop which is self served. The first week of December also have special discount. Very impressive service, will visit again
