Chinese Dhaba
Nothing good about the place .. 0 hygiene.. there were cockroaches on the sofa we sat .. food was way below average ..except for mango masti which was average.. had more mango pieces than chicken.. fried rice is such a waste, no chicken or egg in it and no taste whatsoever .. tripe Szechwan noodles were horrible .. too wet and too much food color with no taste .. not gng back
Certainly not the best food I've ever had. Everything felt like it had too much ginger in it. The hot and sour soup was sweeter than I expected, but the chicken in it was a pleasant addition. I couldn't really tell the difference between the Chicken Chilli and the Chicken Stir-Fry, but both didn't really taste like anything except gravy-like. I was also disappointed with the chicken samosas. They tasted like basic frozen samosas, and are very tiny for $3.
No. 1 Chinese Restaurant
I ordered take out. I called ahead and gave them about 10 minutes. My order was ready when I got there. Very quick & efficient. Excellent food also. I got the General Tso's chicken combo with pork fried rice and an egg roll. It was all delicious. I'll be back!
I've only eaten delivery I can about assure you that it is the best Chinese food and it is delivered absolutely hot and fresh. I'll not use anybody else except them as long as I'm in Winston-Salem. I say hats off to these folks cuz they do a fantastic job.
China Chef
Put in an order for general TSO’s chicken with steamed rice online. It said pick up was at 4:05. I got there at four and my order was ready-awesome.I drove the six minutes home, And immediately tore into the eggroll. It was only kind of warm, but it tasted good. My general TSO’s chicken with steamed rice looks incredible but my first bite was cold. Not lukewarm, not room temperature, cold. The rice had a little warmth to it. I checked the reviews on this place before I went. It was a mixed bag, but I’ll tell you my experience as a first timer was no good.
The China Chef Experience (Takeout Edition). It is never my intent to bash a place of business. However, I know COVID has changed the restaurant industry, and many smaller local restaurants have been affected. I frequented China Chef Pre-COVID and was in the area and decided to check them out. Upon entering, I saw the owners had taken safety precautions as the restaurant had plastic blocking off the dine-in area. I saw nothing wrong with this, but it appeared the restaurant is now using that space as a storage/junk area, and it was visible upon entering. I ordered their shrimp and broccoli. I remembered that was my favorite when I used to dine here. Once ready to eat, I noticed that the shrimp were smaller than before and not deveined. Likewise, the eggroll was smaller than before as well. The flavor was still there but on a smaller scale. I could tell the owners still have passion for their food when eating. Great taste, but visually the business needs significant updates. Instead of plastic, a wall would make this place more visually appealing. I eat shrimp and broccoli, but I like my shrimp deveined. Moreover, when a restaurant starts to make cutbacks, I worry about the other things they are doing to save. I am unsure if I would return, but I hope China Chef returns to the once-thriving establishment I knew them to be.
PITA Mediterranean Street Food- Halcyon
Inside of Halcyon Market Hall. I got the combo Greek salad, loved the whole garbanzo beans, the lettuce was fresh and crisp, the gyro was tasty, thicken was interesting, it was more of a ground chicken versus a traditional shawarma. Also a little disappointed they don’t make their own Greek dressing, it was pre packaged Ken’s deli salad dressing packet.
If you are looking for a fast delivery Mediterranean Cusine then this should be a good option. Don’t expect them to give any freebies though 😃 Wraps are better than platter, platters were a little dry and they did not provide extra sauce
China Restaurant
I’ve driven by this place for years but never ate here. Recently I decided to stop by and have been about 6 times now. The food is really good and their prices are very reasonable! Especially compared to other Chinese restaurants in WS. I’ve seen reviews of the owner having an attitude, but that’s just how she comes off. She’s actual very nice 😊
Always good food in the evening time and around lunch time the outside environment. It's not so good, but good food. Good pricing most of the time..
China House
My wife and I have been ordering from here for almost three years - it has always been consistently great, some of the best Chinese food here in town. I'm not sure why there are negative reviews; we always get what we order and it is always delicious, fresh, and the service is excellent. Very friendly staff - can't say enough good things!
Great place, food was fast, great customer service, stuff was very helpful , everything fresh nice. And Hot.. take out only.. very small place but with a lot of good flavors .. Very good portions.. Price also very reasonable...
China Wok
We drove down from Virginia to Winston-Salem for shopping and found this place online. As we entered, a door dasher was in front of us and we chatted while we waited. She told us that she was glad we found this place because it's "the best Chinese food in Winston-Salem" I can't speak for the other places in the area but it was the best I've had in a very long time. If it wasn't over an hour away, I would be a regular customer. I love everything but my senior dad only eats Bourbon Chicken, not even the rice, just the meat. He ate more than he expected because it was so good. I got the General Tso's combo so I could have fried rice and egg roll with it. We also got a bottled drink for each of us. Everything was great and it was served in To-go boxes with plates so we could easily bring the leftovers home for later. It was a pleasant atmosphere with just a few tables. One of the cooks sang as he worked, the food was brought over to us by a friendly and smiling woman. a child was in the corner doing homework or playing on a tablet. Later, as we were finishing, an older man brought out a kettle of green tea and offered a cup to us, which I gratefully accepted. It was a nice end to our day and I look forward to leftovers tomorrow!
Out of all the Chinese places locally they've got the best fried rice hands down. The only spot that does not use that canned peas and carrots stuff. Throw on some chili crisp and sriracha or basically whatever else and it's fantastic I will go out of my way to get this rice. The actual restaurant maybe a little run down a bit but I usually get delivery anyway. Oh and the yum yum shrimp. Fantastic.
China's Best
Very friendly staff, reasonable prices, great big portions!
Unfortunately still only doing take out orders at this time. Food is Good but would would be a lot nicer to be able to sit down and enjoy it fresh from the kitchen instead of having to take it home and heat it up when you get ready to eat.
China Cafe
Over the past several months I have got take out from this place numerous times. It has been consistently very good. Probably the best around. At least in Kernersville. They have the old style fried rice which is delicious. Crab Rangoon’s are also great. Service is fast and friendly.
Food: I got the orange chicken which was okay but everything that accompanied it seemed very cheap and basic. In my picture you can see I got 3 TINY pieces of broccoli, and the rice just has a giant piece of onion on it, with nothing else really in it. Very tasteless rice. Service: was good when the cashier had time for us, seems like the day we went was super busy or they need more people in the back. Atmosphere: this place does not look good at all, wish I took a picture. They used to have a dining room for sit down eating but the room is sectioned off with plastic and cardboard, looks very apocalyptic.
Golden Palace
Let me say from last time I was here this place has improved. The place is super clean entirely. I guess it has new owners, which is great. The food was great, I had the Hawaii 5 O, and my wife had the Mongolian beef and chicken, which is also very good. We enjoyed our dinner very much. Good service, fast, kind, and courteous. Will definitely return for dinner again.
An Unforgettable Experience! We recently hosted an event at GOLDEN VENUE and it was absolutely amazing! From start to finish, everything was flawless. The venue itself is stunning, with beautiful decor and a welcoming atmosphere that set the perfect mood for our gathering. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs, ensuring that every detail was taken care of with professionalism and warmth. The service was impeccable, and the team was incredibly attentive, making sure our guests were comfortable and happy throughout the event. The setup, lighting, and overall ambiance made for a truly memorable experience. If you’re looking for the perfect venue for your next event, look no further than GOLDEN VENUE ]. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate, and we will definitely be back for future events. Highly recommend!
Bawarchi Biryanis
I usually don’t write reviews unless an experience is exceptionally good or bad. Unfortunately, this time, it was the latter. We’ve been ordering the Tandoori Platter and Dum Biryani from Bawarchi Cumming for years, but our order on January 31, 2025, was a huge disappointment. The food was nothing like what we were used to—it seemed like it had been frozen or taken from old stock and simply re-grilled. Given it was a Friday, we expected fresh, high-quality food, but instead, it was a letdown. I even took pictures but forgot to call and inform them.
I ordered biryani yesterday, but it didn’t look very fresh. The paneer was soft (when microwaved), and there were a good number of pieces, which was nice. However, it was advertised as ‘Paneer Dum Biryani,’ yet there was no trace of the ‘dum’ flavor. The taste was very average—it didn’t taste like biryani at all, more like paneer rice. There was no onion in the ‘dum’ and no onion or lemon garnish on top either - which would have added a little flavor and made it a lot better. Totally disappointed. I hope they improve, but I would mostly avoid buying from here next time.
Sri Krishna Vilas
I recently visited Sri Krishna Vilas, and while the breakfast items truly stood out, some other aspects left me disappointed. The poori, vada, bonda, punugulu, and uthappam were absolutely delicious and authentic, showcasing the flavors the restaurant is known for. If you’re a fan of South Indian breakfast, this place is a must-try for those dishes. However, my experience with the New Year special thali was underwhelming. I was hoping to try a variety of vegetarian dishes in one go, but only two items on the plate were enjoyable. The rest lacked the flavor and quality I expected, making it feel like a waste of money. The drinks—sithapal shake and mango lassi—also didn’t live up to expectations. They were not creamy and less satisfying compared to similar offerings at other places. That said, the overall experience was pleasant, and I’d still recommend it for their stellar breakfast menu. Just be cautious about trying new or specialty items, as they may not deliver the same level of quality.
A good place to eat Indian food ; we had the breakfast. All dishes were cooked and served fast . The ambience was good. Nice to come here with family and friends . 👍
