I think I'm going to start rating places to eat by Praise Reports, Or Prayer Requests, and this place is in need of some Prayer. Gave this a chance after my bad experience in James City, having finally recovered, willing to try Chinese Cuisine, I am determined to find some place that's at least 4 stars, well Taste of China looked like it might be it as it had that hidden hole in the wall feel and look, but as soon as I opened the door and was greeted by this dinning room, and order off paper sheets cafeteria style I was having a serious deja vu moment back in James City. I and Agent 113, Ordered: Egg Rolls Steamed Dumplings Beef and Broccoli Chicken Chow Mien Orange Chicken Hot and Sour Soup Teriyaki Beef Skewers Drinks are in caned form only, no alcohol. Sprite, Dr. Pepper, Orange Soda, Mountain Dew, whatever you pick, remember 2 cans per-person, you will be thirsty , and will want another can, this trick will save you from waiting. The room is odd, when we ate there we're order after order going out, but none dined in. Place was dead, I will say it was clean, had a kind of 80s feel to it. Unlike the place in James City, this place was at least clean and organized. Well, we talked to a guy who said he went there at least once a week, he said some times it's good, sometimes it's bad... interesting. Ours was bad. Never had orange chicken that was bread and fried, served with this orange goop, looked like Slimer from Ghostbusters trying to pass a kidney stone. The chicken was hard and dry, more like a chicken nuggie from Gold Arch World than anything I've had in Chinese restaurants before, was bummed out looked forward to a classic titan. Hot and Sour Soup was Hot, like that it, couldn't taste the sour which is usually from the Chinese Black Vinegar, this was like eating a bottle of hot sauce, but you only taste burning. It was so hot, spicy hot, now I can take some hot stuff, but this wasn't classic Hot and Sour. This was just Hot and Hot. Beef Broccoli would have been fine, but the broccoli was raw, hard, too bad, as it was the only thing we had that held that classic flavor, think this was the last places problem too in James City. Egg rolls were dry, tasted like they were old, as was the oil they were cooked it. The Steamed dumplings were so thick and gooey I thought I was eating globs of glue, the insides weren't bad, ate two or three by gutting them. Teriyaki beef skewers were actually the only really good thing though a bit tough. And the Chow Mien was oily. Into the trash bin it went. You bus your own tables here, there is a tip jar so if you have cash hold back from tipping, as this place hits you first then you see what it's like... Been seeing this kind of thing more and more popping up in Asian Cuisine style restaurants, you tip good or big then feel like you got robbed, I tipped fair and good but still felt robbed and disappointed. I saw one baby high chair the classic wood style. The young woman who took my oder from the counter was friendly, had no issues with customer service, yet that's easy there really isn't any. No I'll not be going back, any time soon, maybe in a year and see if some things have changed...also if eating in and it's early evening and sun is going down, sit on the left side, as the Right side gets washed out with blinding sunlight. Bring a jacket too, gets very cold in there. When after a few weeks or months pass and I feel up for Asian Cuisine again, I'm hoping to find, determined in fact to find one good Asian place. I'm amazed places like Taste of China have lasted this long, serving sub-par or low food, no real service, place is drab, food way too spicy, too dry, tastes old, of old oil, or oily...sad. I guess when there isn't any other option but this people just take what they can, but that's the only way, they've stayed up and running. Wasn't even worth what I paid, dropped almost a hundred bucks...never got a free 2 liter soda either as advertised on the menu...I guess tips don't count, my wallet says otherwise.

This is what you want in a Chinese Restaurant. They have the BEST Sesame Chicken! Perfect Sauce! NO ONE has this sesame sauce, I’ve tried every Chinese Restaurant from New Bern to Morehead City. They also have an AMAZING Egg Roll, I ate it so quickly & forgot to take a picture. They are full of meat & carrot with a little cabbage. NO ONE else has them like this, Sooooo Good! I also get their Hot & Sour Soup usually $1 extra tofu, I do add Black Vinegar at home.

I’ve only had the teriyaki chicken and chicken and broccoli, but the teriyaki chicken isn’t super dry like most chinese places, and you can tasted the flavor. The chicken and broccoli is like most places, so its good. Quick service every time.

First time visiting and the location is in a plaza with other stores on the lot. The inside was clean, they have an old style gumball machines. To place your order you speak in a mic and they have a bowl you put your money in and you get your change. The food was good to me. I order the chicken Mei fun with some brown sauce on the side. We got spring rolls which they thought was delicious. We also ordered steak eggrolls and sesame chicken. I would recommend if looking for something different.

Best Chinese Food Around Roanoke Rapids NC...Always fresh and friendly service

I've eaten Chinese food all over this great country. While not in my top three I'm still giving them 5 stars for flavor, selection and customer service. RR has so few places that seem to really care and this is one I can truly recommend.

I ordered the sesame chicken and fried rice, and unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. The chicken was extremely tough—like it had been sitting for 3 or 4 days—and definitely not fresh. The fried rice was an odd bright orange color and looked and tasted nothing like authentic fried rice. Overall, it just wasn’t good. I won’t be ordering from here again.

Nice enough folks, but this is Chinese food if you tried to make it at home. All very mildly and similarly flavored. We ordered several items, with the orange chicken being the best of them all. The Szechuan beef was actually what we would get if we ordered Hunan beef anywhere else. The chicken fried rice was just yellow-ish rice with onion and a little bit of chicken, no peas or carrots and not really fried. When ordering online, you choose small or large (pint or quart), and the small is actually smaller than a normal size order, so the larger is probably about that size. It wasn't bad, like don't eat here, it's just not anywhere close to good Chinese food with specific or unique flavors.

The cutest little boutique. So many unique gifts and a great shopping experience in while you’re bound to find something in this store!

The food is nice and hot and don't have to wait long to receive the order that I made.

I mean who can go wrong with clean mall Chinese food! This always hits the spot, I find that with the price of Chinese food from restaurants around here hiking up pretty high - and the leftovers not keeping well. I find the Pei Wei's price is perfect for the amount of food they give you it is good every single bite, from the fried rice, to the noodles, to the choices of meat. All good, they have the consistency that local spots lack.

Got the firecracker chicken/bourbon chicken half and half. Good stuff!

This is a no frills, take out only establishment. It is the only one of its type within a 45 min commute elsewhere. The food is standard and equal to other types of similar styled locations. There is a very difficult communication gap and it is always busy. Reaching by phone takes patience. There is some seating available inside while waiting. Prices seem normal. It hits the spot when you are craving your fav Asian dishes. Plenty of parking and a small Asian grocery store next door.

I ordered my food for take out. Took 30 minutes to get there and she hadn't started cooking my food, not because they were busy because I was the only customer. And the food was not what I expected. My teriyaki chicken was breaded chicken in a stick that looked like fried liver and had no sauce. WILL NOT GO BACK!

The portions were so generous. Our server and everyone working here were friendly and attentive. The General Tso chicken and chicken with broccoli were perfect, as were the spring rolls with dipping sauce. We wanted to try the desserts, but had no room. A cozy, clean and relaxing place. We had such a lovely first visit here, we will return. Excited to try the other dishes!

Four of us dined here last night (25 January 2025). I ate here once before for lunch, but never wrote a review. I don't even remember what I had. The place was full, but we had reservations. The interior had a nice Asian vibe. There's a separate room with low tables. Jalyn was our waitress. She was very nice and quite professional at her job. The menu has a good variety of dishes to choose from. Jalyn brought us each a small plate of edamame and picked carrots/cucumbers. That was a nice start to our meal. My husband and I ordered the shrimp with Chinese chives pot stickers (quantity of six), which came with a dipping sauce (probably soy sauce rice vinegar, sesame oil, etc) and a hot chili sauce. They were excellent!! My friends ordered the spring rolls, which they really enjoyed. For my entrée, I had the firecracker chicken along with brown rice. This came with celery, carrots, baby corn, straw mushroom and water chestnuts in a Sichuan red chili pepper sauce. The chicken pieces were breaded and stir-fried. My husband had the Sichuan eggplant dish, (with brown rice) which included onions and scallions. He added pork, but felt there was very little of it in the dish. He also stated it was not spicy at all. Our friends had the General Tso's chicken and one of the pork dishes. The entrée portions for all four dishes were huge! We had leftovers. Overall a very good place for Chinese food. We'll be back. I want to try some of the dim sum and other items on the menu.

I've eaten here all my life, came back to visit my mom, and stopped in it was not how I remembered. There must be new management because I was very disappointed in my food, the taste and the time we had to wait. I'm sorry, but that's it for me no more eating here!

Fairly quick service. They do not favor payments other than cash. Food is sometimes better than other times. This is a go-to when I want something substantial without having to cook.

Came on a Saturday and ordered lunch specials for take out. The food was hot and delicious, the wait time was average for fresh cooked food. Everything was correct with our order. A lot of reviews say they're unfriendly but I didn't have that experience. They were kind, just seemed more introverted. I understand this. I will be coming back

food was great ..younger lady misunderstood my order so I got more rice than I needed lol ..lady the grill very professional ...dressed ....good food fast service tho !!! g>

Tried this place for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised. Ordered broccoli and beef with pork fried rice. Broccoli was crunchy, beef was tender, I asked for light sauce so it was just the perfect amount. But the star was the fried rice. Outside of big city Chinatowns this is one of the best fried rice I've had. It was cooked over very high heat, hence it wasn't greasy, and the high heat imparts a flavor that we call 'wok hei' loosely translated to 'wok breath'. Once you have it, you will know the difference. Looking forward to more takeout/delivery. Came back and was just as good.

Ordered on Christmas as is tradition every year. Everything was so greasy. Egg rolls and wontons not crispy at all soaking wet and soggy from the grease drenched napkins. The general tso was not spicy at all just greasy and the sesame chicken was just ok. Major let down will not order again :(

My food was horrible. Over cooked. I threw the whole tray away (because I know they wouldn't give a refund). My total was $40, for 2 people, and both of us were dissatisfied. I will not be going back.

Super rude! I had a to go order that I had placed and walked in and thought he lady at the counter was talking to me so I just told her that, I had placed a to go order. She immediately shut me down and was like I'm waiting on this guy. She was super rude and her mannerisms were uncalled for. She even gave me a slight eye roll. She treated me like I was trying to break in line and she was trying to discipline me. So I went to explain again that I had thought she was speaking to me and I had already placed my order. She then got abrasive again and was like "I said that I would be with you after his order and held out her hand in an as if, cut me off manner. I then walked out. I called after and explained I did not appreciate her speaking to me that way and was going to give her the opportunity to remedy it only for her to yell and have an attitude further. I have always used this as my go to place for Chinese however, after that. I will never go back.
