Thao's Family Table
Big Apple
Layout/atmosphere *Three tables Food/drink *Boneless spare ribs with pork fried rice - solid; sauce was sweet, little too much overall (amount on the meat); no bean sprouts but scrambled egg in fried rice (preferred that) *Egg drop soup - good *Egg roll - good
Best Chinese in Rockaway, period. Just do yourself a favor and avoid all the others, their food is legitimately fresh and the fried rice isn't yellow like everywhere else, it's actual fried rice.
E Sushi III
Hands down the best sushi I have ever had. Everything was fresh and delicious. Service was excellent. Just wish the decor was more cozy
Went for a Friday Mom's night out & they did not disappoint! Every sushi roll we tried was even better than the next, the Staff was super friendly & personable. The presentation on the sushi boat was SPECTACULAR! To my surprise the all you can eat sushi included Soup, Salad, Appetizers, Hibachi, Rice, Noodles & DESSERT! Amazing value for an All-you-can-eat price. I can't wait to come back and bring my husband :-)
Dragon King Chinese Restaurant
Perfect. Hit the spot. Fried rice was amazing had plenty of veggies. Only problem was they forgot my fortune cookie but honestly I’m ok with that. The food made up for it.
I grew up with Rockaway Crown which was the Chinese take out before this, so I can't help but compare the two. I got the Beef and Broccoli and their Chow Mei Fun. Both were surprisingly good. The noodles were lacking a bit of flavor and just a tad too wet for my taste. The beef and broccoli's sauce was also not bad. I like how sticky it was. Their Wonton soup (not shown) was alright. I thought it tasted a bit funny. It could just be an off day.
East Meets West
The short - this place is sub par. It doesn’t even touch how good Big Apple Chinese or China New Star is. First, I ordered boneless spare ribs. What I got was sweet and sour pork. Irritating but it’s fine, I didn’t complain. I just ate it because I like sweet and sour chicken so figured it would be similar. The texture, not great. The sweet and sour sauce is not as thick and much more tangy than standard. Lastly, the broccoli had to be old or reheated. The texture was like it had been frozen and reheated. It’s all quite unfortunate. The quality of the food is low and I wouldn’t order for here again because of that.
Ordered Food7 and it never arrived and they stopped answering their phones at 830. Says it closes at 9. Don’t suggest supporting this place
