Halal City

139reviews

Oh man! I know the halal craze has been around for a while, so its easy to get lost in what is good or not… Halal city is amazing! Not only was the food way tastier than other places I have been to, but the service was outstanding! Highly recommend it! Its tucked in a nice quite shopping center too which is really nice too! I took my order to go and they gave me whatever sauces was needed and were such a delight.

My pops and I checked out Halal City in Syosset. If you like Halal food then you have to check this place out. It's conveniently located and accessible. The chicken is flavorful. The white hits your palate really good along with the lamb, chicken, and bbq sauce and the spicy sauce. The bowls are filled up and made fresh. I also tried the falafel since I'm a huge fan. They added this green sauce that was really good and unique. Make sure to come check them out and show them some love!

HAKA

420reviews

I was initially drawn to Haka by its striking décor. The mural of a dragon added a unique touch, and the teal velvet furniture gave the space a sophisticated vibe. The service was attentive, which is always a plus. However, the restaurant’s attempt to cater to multiple cuisines (Chinese, Indian, Thai, and Japanese) left me feeling confused. It’s often better for a restaurant to focus on perfecting one cuisine rather than spreading itself too thin. One thing I immediately noticed was the lack of beef on the menu, which was disappointing since I was craving Chinese food and usually prefer beef over chicken in Chinese dishes. Additionally, while Haka is a halal restaurant, I was uncomfortable seeing that they serve alcohol, which feels contradictory to their halal branding. Beyond the food, I encountered some alarming cleanliness issues. One of our plates had an orange-yellow stain on it, and the sauces provided with the soup had greasy spoons with oily handles. This lack of attention to hygiene was concerning. To make matters worse, the bathroom was absolutely disgusting—the trash was overflowing, and there was feces smeared on the toilet seat, which I had to clean myself before using. This experience completely killed my appetite. For appetizers, we ordered the corn soup and samosa chaat. The samosa chaat was flavorful and saucy, but it felt like there was too much going on, making it a bit messy. The corn soup, on the other hand, was bland and lacking in corn, with an odd metallic aftertaste that made it hard to enjoy. For the main course, we tried the egg fried rice with vegetables and Hong Kong-style chicken. While the fried rice had decent flavor, it was light on both the vegetables and egg, with only peas and bean sprouts visible. The chicken dish was particularly disappointing. Although the menu promised cashews and spice, the cashews were crushed so finely they were almost undetectable, and the sauce lacked any spice or depth. Most concerning was the unpleasant metallic "warmed over flavor" in the chicken, suggesting it wasn't freshly cooked but rather reheated, which was a big letdown. Overall, Haka feels overpriced for the quality of food and the poor hygiene standards. While the ambiance is lovely, the food itself is subpar, and the cleanliness issues made for an unpleasant dining experience. You’re essentially paying for the décor rather than the quality of the food.

Chili & Curry

High Fives! i was traveling down the road, just minding my own my own affairs, when chili and curry caught me unaware. i am glad i followed my instincts, this place is a gem! my order: chicken vindaloo with a request for spicy. and drums of heaven. i found something to do for the 1/2 hour estimated time while they prepared this fabulous food. always take it as a good sign they make the freshest stewed delicacies. who am i to say they are the best? i am just gonna do what we all gotta do, Eat! but i can for certain say they did an excellent job making the food, and undoubtedly care for every dish that leaves their kitchen. when i am back next year for work. i will return a few times to check other offerings from this top notch establishment.

Recommend the Veggie Samosas, Mango Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Jakka Noodles & The Basket of Naan. Was not a big fan of the Thai side, like th Basil Ginger Chicken. Service was great. Nice staff from my experience

Potasia Hotpot

Potasia never fails to disappoint me. Their food is amazing and have many options, vegan and other food restrictions. I recommend their sweet potato starch noodles, rice cakes, fish tofu and their sauces and dips are amazing! 6/5 for sure!

Been a bit since we went out to eat and be people because of the cold. We decided to come here to Potasia and get some nice and cozy hot pot! This was my first ever hot pot and I really enjoyed it. We each chose our own soup, I went with the pork leg soup, my friend got the mushroom one. We ordered all our meats and veggies and let me tell you, we ordered a lottt. Juicy balls, lamb, tongue, squid, crab, sausages, corn, baby bok choy, kelp, mushrooms, cabbage, noodles, rice. Man our table was full as you can see. I had the green grape sake and the waiters were attentive for the most part to fill out water and soup. They also have a sauce and apps table in the back. Highly recommend the fungi in vinegar and making your own sauce. At the end we ordered some boba for the road even though we were wayyy to full to drink it. We enjoyed our stay! And hope to be back with more friends.

The Cotillion

Attended a Toy Drive today at The Cotillion and was blown away by the courtesy of all of the staff there. It's a very nice and spacious venue. Everyone was super attentive, and I even had a taste of some of their Indian food. The Chilli Chicken was amazing! I am looking forward to bringing my family back for dinner!

Service and atmosphere was great! The food was decent too. I had aloo tiki chaat which was fantastic The veg fried rice was p standard Chilli chicken - my friend who ordered it said they were great Gobi Manchurian gravy - they probably have better dishes here so I’d skip this dish.. gobi was super soft and mushy The service was fantastic and the staff is super helpful and sweet.

Kabul Grill

We had a retirement party for my dad at Kabul Grill. The owner, Rafi, is very responsive and professional (and a great singer!). The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the family working there is very kind and helpful. Food was great and we really enjoyed our time.

Nice design and great tasting kabab spot. There is a good variety of options for chicken, beef, and lamb. Also there are appetizer options for veggie and non veggie options. Service was great. Food was great as well, although the portion sizes are a bit small compared to similar spots in this area.

Lemonleaf Grill

We came here expecting authentic Thai food, but compared to other places we’ve tried, this was disappointing. Every dish was overly sweet, even though we requested the highest spice level. Unfortunately, we won’t be coming back or recommending this place to anyone who loves spicy food.

My maiden visit this weekend was for a take-away. Place was cavernous - and crowded! Easily the largest Thai place I’ve been to. Can’t comment on service. Can comment on the food - lip smacking lay delicious! The beef satay was a well executed variation of the usual in chicken. The green curry, Tom Yum soup, Pad Thai, and Basil Chicken all hit the spot. Looking forward to dining in the next time! *Edit* our second visit was a dine-in. Once again, we loved it! Great spacious interior, lots of tables. Seated promptly. Food tastes amazing as before, more amazing when eaten fresh and not as a take out. We repeated the pad thai and green curry. Also added a pad see ew, Thai calamari, papaya salad, fried rice, and one of the stir fries. Every dish was amazing. Would love to repeat.

Cloud Asian Restaurant

The food was not the greatest imo. I definitely WILL NOT visit this establishment again. As I watched them prepare my meal (bare handed), the cashier passed by the container of lo-mein and knocked it to the ground. He quickly picked it up, brought it to the back, and brought the pot to the back to place what he just dropped on the floor into the pot and proceeded to cook it. I couldn't believe that this is how they would serve meals. They are completely disgusting. I wish I had this recorded. Never ever will I come back here.

No big difference in choice of dishes from other Chinese takeout restaurants, but Chicken Broccoli here is EXQUISITE! Most delicious chicken broccoli I have ever had, seriously!

The Orient Bethpage

Probably one of the better dim sum places on Long Island. Go there every now and then. Seems to be well known. I drive a good 40 minutes from where I live. Recommend it when you are in the mood for dim sum.

I flew to New York for a quick weekend and spend time with family. My sister asked me what I was creating for, and I said Asian food. I was impressed with this restaurant, the service is impeccable, the food was excellent , and I can't wait to go back again! This is real Cantonese food! It felt cozy and I can tell many people enjoy this place.

Asian Pot - Farmingdale

I called to place a $40 order.. I asked if I got a free soda!! They told me only if I pay in cash… AND THEY CHARGE EXTRA FOR DEBIT/CREDIT!! So greedy n horrible customer service!

Food was great. I ordered ahead and dined in during lunch. The price for the amount of food is amazing given the rising costs with everything. I had a General Tso chicken with brown rice and a side of hot & sour soup. It warmed me right up and I was on my way. The food was fresh and hot! I will return soon for the Thai menu items! :p

Asian House

So glad we tried this restaurant. Really tasty food- very fresh and nice portions. Ordered sesame tofu- egg foo young and steamed vegetable dumplings as an appetizer . Food had great flavor - light and fluffy vegetable fried rice which comes with the egg foo young dinner combo along with an egg roll which was also light and crispy not at all greasy like some places. Definitely will keep this as a favorite Chinese food place.

Excellent and fresh food. Pleasant people. Definitely will continue giving them my business.
