Golden Bayou
I have been a long-time customer since they opened. We always go there for lunch and to go. They keep quality and consistency until present for services, food quality, and atmosphere. We always took family members and relatives to this restaurant. One time, my husband wanted to reorder the Cahun for lunch, and they gave a discount, too. That's nice. Also, one time, a long time ago, I forgot cash, and they allowed me to go out of the restaurant without paying to get cash for about 30 minutes. That's really nice heart. Highly recommended.
Excellent fish dry pot. Right amount of chilies and Szechuan peppercorns, fish was tender, breading was pleasantly crunchy + chewy, very good vegetables. Batter was just a little too salty. Prices are fine, seem to be a few dollars higher than similar places in town. Fish dry pot was $20 before tax, and I think it's more like $18 at other places. Lunch special has American-style dishes like lo mein and stuff. That's fine, but would be better IMO if they also did a couple Szechuan or Cantonese dishes for lunch special as well. Clean, lots of space, staff were friendly. To be honest I always thought this place was a Cajun fast-food restaurant chain. Then I stopped in randomly and was like "wait they do Szechuan food here??" lol
Spicy Asian
Food was delicious! One of the best Chinese food places we’ve had in Ithaca. It might not be a fancy place, but clean and spacious restaurant to enjoy your meal. Reasonably priced food.
This is a great place to get Sichuan food in Ithaca. I really enjoyed all their dishes. Their lamb was great. Their whole fish was very tender. I loved the egg drop soup. We had some dumplings in spicy sauce which was yummy. And the potato’s in their stir-fried shredded potato dish was crispy and savory. The service was good. We went during a weekend evening in the summer and the place was not busy. The service was prompt. Note: Not all of the staff speaks Mandarin. The first waitress we did spoke Mandarin but we had another person who served our table who did not. The inside of the restaurant is like a typical Chinese restaurant. There is also plenty of tables and seating inside. There is a parking lot outside the restaurant so we parked there. We did not have trouble finding parking (albeit we didn’t go when it was very busy).
Ling Ling
My family and I have been enjoying the Garlic Tofu here for as long as I can remember, and it’s always been a favorite. I highly recommend it, as I don’t know any other place in Ithaca that prepares Chinese tofu as well. I also enjoy their Hot and Sour Soup (note that it's not vegetarian). While I haven’t explored the full menu, the dishes I regularly order are always delicious and well-prepared. I’m not sure why some people expect a gourmet experience here—what you see is what you get. It’s the perfect spot for take-out, and the staff is friendly and low-key.
Honestly this was gross. I don’t know if we got a bad order or what, but I would never return. General Tso’s chicken had zero spice and had barely any sauce, rice and broccoli were both cold and dry. Crab Rangoons were fishy to the point that even though sushi is my favorite food, they were inedible. The beef Lo Mein was greasy, cold, and flavorless. The absolute only positive thing I have to say is the egg rolls were decent. Complete waste of $40.
