Reds Restaurant
Been to reds a couple times each time has been great. I got the calamari for appetizer which was good, kind of bland needed some seasoning but marinara was great for dipping. Got the prime rib which was delicious cooked and seasoned great. My guest had the king crab legs which were huge and tasted great, very sweet. Only thing I didn't like was the fact they charge for refills on soda but I will be back again.
It's gone downhill in the last few years. My wife and I with a couple of friends had dinner there 2 years ago, and everything that could go wrong, went wrong. I decided to give it another swing for my birthday yesterday, simply because I wanted raw oysters. We started by having the waitress spill the oyster water/ice on me. She apologized and said she was new. Fair enough. She also brought me a can of beer I didn't order. Instead of being a jerk, I tasted it, found it acceptable and let it slide. The oysters and my wife's steamers didn't disappoint. Her salad and my soup come out next. She's 3 bites into her salad and picking out the brown lettuce. I only had a cup of chowder, but I wasn't finished when the entrees showed up. Her $75 King Crab legs were stone cold and she sent them back to get heated. My $55 twin lobster tails were lukewarm at best. At that point, I really wanted to just get up and leave, but we salvaged it. I grumbled through my tails and they were kind enough to sing me Happy Birthday for dessert. $259.21 after a $40 tip. I still tipped the young lady, as she was very sweet and nice, but I think she yet has a lot to learn. I don't know who orchestrated the timing of the food, but that was completely fumbled. We may go back over the summer just for the oysters and clams, unless I find a better option. It's too bad. My father was very fond of the Saratoga location for years.
