Lucky Panda Chinese Restaurant
Like a lot of people mentioned, their fried rice isnt like normal fried rice.. if that makes sense. It appeared to be white rice BUT it was delicious in my opinion! Im actually ordering it again because i thoroughly enjoyed it. Customer service was great and prompt. It appeared clean and offered in house seating but is limited to about 10 people max (give or take).
This was my first time going, and I'm very happy i did! The people were super nice and friendly, and the food was super fresh and tasted amazing!! I'm definitely gonna be ordering from here more often 😁
Akron China King
Consistently the best Chinese food place I’ve been to throughout my life. Grew up getting food from here and it really set the standard. Food is always ready on time and rarely have we experienced error
I eat here once week. Food is ALWAYS FRESH!!
Hay Hay Roasted nyc
They have the best lunch deal in the city. For $17 you get an appetizer, an entree and a drink. I'd recommend the hay hay deluxe trio - the cha siu (roasted pork) was delicious and the portions were generous. For appetizers, I was happy they offered the fried mini buns and they were very authentic. The fried dumplings were good too and the cucumber dish was refreshing if you want something lighter. Hay hay roasted is a great addition to east village.
Came here for dinner with my bestie and the portions were perfect for solo dining or to eat with your friends/family. The service was 10/10 - our server was so friendly and nice. Food came out in a timely matter. We loved everything we got. Our favorite were the fried mini milk buns (must get!!!) the wonton soup was so tasty and meaty. we loved the two selections where we chose scallion chicken & roast duck, and then other plate for the brine cuttlefish and crispy pork. The cold appetizers were so good especially the pig trotters (don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!) We tried the sesame and coconut puddings which were so good and not too sweet but perfect to end your meal. It’s even better when you mix them together! Definitely recommend coming here!!
Chef Tan east village 蜀湘门第
Good food. Hot pot or just dishes of sichuan style meal. Inside is well decorated and clean. Here is the deal. You leave a 5 star and get to spin the wheel for a freebie but my 5 star is well earned. Food is delicious. The portion is generous with quality produces. I love the tofu dish. Service is great. They come along and ask how we doing all the time.
The food was good, and the lunch special was a great deal. We also ordered extra veggie fried rice, which was tasty. I loved the mango green tea with jelly. It was very refreshing! The atmosphere was nice, but they left the door open, making it uncomfortably cold since it was a chilly day. The service was friendly but not very attentive. Overall, it's a decent spot for a meal, especially if you're looking for a good lunch deal!
Jiang's Kitchen 疆湖 - Halal Chinese Food
Never had halal hotpot before so I was very excited to try this restaurant. This is primarily a halal Chinese restaurant and hotpot is a secondary experience you can opt for. They bring a portable burner cooktop to your table and use that to heat up the hotpot base dish. There is a good assortment of proteins and vegetables to choose from. The spicy broth base and the chicken broth base were both delicious. The spicy broth was especially spicy but very flavorful. Service was great and pricing is reasonable for such a great hotpot experience. We also tried the sizzling cumin rice with shrimp, it was very good with a unique authentic flavor. The decor and design is relatively standard, nothing fancy. There is a good amount of seating space.
We like this place. The xinjiang big plate Chicken is very good and has a great amount. For a party of two, a half portion will suffice. They use noodles instead of pita for the bottom but it still tastes pretty good after the noodles are fully soaked in the soup of the chicken. The baked buns are xinjiang special. The lamb kidney doesn't have the bad smell. This place also has a hotpot menu. Make sure you ask for it as usually they only bring the dish menu. Will definitely go again to try out other dishes.
Baji Baji
I used to love this place. I don’t know what happened. Ordered sesame chicken with pork fried rice requested white meat. My sesame chicken is not chewable. it seems like fried batter with sauce on it, impossible to chew… I was so hungry I’m very disappointed.
Baji Baji is a fantastic spot for Chinese cuisine, offering an inviting atmosphere and a menu full of bold, flavorful dishes. affordable prices ranging from $10 to $20, it’s a great choice for both casual diners and food enthusiasts. The interior is stylish yet cozy, featuring vibrant murals, warm lighting, and a modern touch that enhances the dining experience. Their food presentation is equally impressive fresh, colorful, and beautifully plated. Whether you’re in the mood for crispy, saucy, or spicy, Baji Baji delivers on all fronts. Service is friendly and efficient, making takeout and delivery just as enjoyable as dining in. If you’re looking for a satisfying meal that combines authentic flavors with a contemporary twist, Baji Baji is a must-visit!
MáLà Project
Got a few different dishes at Mala Project and only the dry-pot style create-your-own bowl was a hit. The mapo tofu was weirdly overly sweet instead of spicy without strong peppercorns, and the garlic eggplant was alright (good garlic infusion into the sauce if you’re a fan of garlic). The dry pot bowl had a good combination of cumin stir fry flavor and spice and would definitely recommend that one.
This is my second visit to this place. I ordered the dry pot to share with my friend. For toppings, I personally recommend the sliced potatoes, as they add a nice crunch. I also loved the wood ear mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, shrimp balls, and eye of round beef. As for noodles, I don't recommend the glass noodles because they tend to become dry and stick together. Instead, consider the potato noodles or other options for a better experience. The portions are quite large and filling. As for side dishes, I recommend both the garlic eggplant and pork ear, but be aware that they are quite spicy—even spicier than the dry pot. The only downside is that everything is a bit pricey; even the spicy level costs an additional $5. The sauce was more oily than spicy, which is one aspect I didn't particularly like about this place. For dessert, I noticed many people recommending the glass herbal jelly, but I personally wouldn't suggest it. While the jelly and red beans were fine, the taro balls and boba were hard and not chewy at all, which I didn't appreciate. Overall, it was a bit too sweet for my taste. However, I do recommend their sweet potato mochi; it was surprisingly good! I managed to eat two of them even after the dry pot. I love anything mochi, so I highly recommend that.
TIPSY SHANGHAI 蘇杭餐厅
Simple Chinese eatery near NYU and relatively quick service. They have an eye catching interior with traditional porcelain and archways. There’s a lot of glamorous Chinese restaurants in NYC, but Tipsy Shanghai gives me more of a home-cooked feel! A lot of variety in their dishes from various regions of China. I got a meat, soup (with seafood), and veg with rice to make for the complete Chinese trinity of home meals, all of which were pretty solid. I actually liked their dim sum item the most - the Wuxi style soup dumplings, which have a lot of soup and are generously stuffed. They also have complimentary ice cream at the end of the meal. Great option as a more casual eatery in the area but served family style so great to bring a friend!
I had a great time at Tipsy Shanghai! The food was amazing, especially the xiao long bao (soup dumplings) and spicy chicken. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was fun. The cocktails were also really good. Highly recommend!
Yum Cha Chinese Kitchen & Bar 姑苏里
I had an incredible dining experience at Yum Cha! The **Shredded Garlic with Truffle Steak Cube** and **Yum Cha Black Fish** were absolute standouts—each bite was packed with rich, savory flavors that blended perfectly. The steak cubes were tender, infused with the aromatic depth of truffle and garlic, while the black fish was beautifully cooked, delicate, and flavorful. To top it all off, closing the meal with **Egg Milk Rice** was the perfect way to go—comforting, creamy, and satisfying. The balance of flavors throughout the meal was simply outstanding. I’ll definitely be returning for another round! Highly recommended for anyone looking for an exceptional Yum Cha experience.
Overall rating: 4.7 I went here with a group of 7 and they do NOT split bills. Be warned. But! The food was actually really delicious. The soup dumplings were really small and not worth it. My favorite was the Dan Dan noodles. They were surprisingly really good. Really spicy. In good way! The general tsao chicken was not good. The item they cook in a pot was delicious too. Wish I was able to take more pictures but I forgot at one point. Will def be coming back & highly recommend!
Baodega 小杨生煎
I really enjoyed my food here. I had the shrimp and pork shumai and the fried soup dumplings. They were exactly what I wanted. The staff here is friendly and helpful. I really like the space and how much seating there is even though it seems small from the outside. There are so many things I want to try on the menu, but honestly I will probably get what I had since it was so good. I recommend coming here! Also love the name!
REPLY to owner’s comment for specific feedback - Have you tried those three specific dishes yourself? The specific shortcomings are stated below. Not sure how much more specific to get into. The moat awful soup dumplings, even worse than the divvy Chinese takeout places. Dough - thick. Meat - dry. Juice - none. The yang chow fries rice was dripped in soy sauce. Yuck. The sautéed string beans was so small in portion and salty.
Mala House 安逸成都21街店
Mala House on 21st and Broadway is hands-down one of my favorite lunch spots in the city. I come here frequently, and every time, it’s consistently fantastic. The staff is incredibly kind and attentive— Chen and Cliff, especially, always go above and beyond to make every visit feel special. Shout out to both of them! The food is absolutely delicious and the service is lightning fast. Whatever you order, it comes out in no time, fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend their lunch special—it’s an incredible deal where you get a main dish, white or brown rice, and an appetizer. My go-to combo is the hot and sour soup with spring rolls to start (both are SO good), and for the main, the General Tso's chicken or orange chicken—both are packed with flavor and the portions are generous. The ambiance is also worth noting: the music is super relaxing, which makes it a great place to take a breather during a busy workday. I totally, absolutely love everything about this place. Keep it up, Mala House!
The salt and pepper lamb chops were absolutely delicious! I'd return just for this dish again but looking forward to trying other dishes next time. The staff were very attentive and very nice even though it was clearly busy. Can't wait to go back!
Shanghai Villa
went here during PRIDE 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🕺✨ so yummy!! 😋 especially loved the scallion noodles 🍜 and veggies dumplings 🥟. included some pics below ⬇️ so you all can see just delicious it was! this placed saved me and my friends from HEAT EXHAUSTION, RAIN, and HUNGER. shoutout shanghai villa, would def come again. 💋
We intended to go to a restaurant 2-3 lots down the road but it was packed and we didn't want to wait. So we walked back here and decided to try. We were impressed with the food and the service. Unbelievable that it was not busy. The background music was calm and we could have a conversation. We enjoyed our dinner here so much and would definitely come back again. Went back the second time and the waiter remembered us right away which is impressive.
