No. 1 Chinese
I've been eating at No. 1 for years, I'd say close to 20 years now. The food is delicious and is one of the best. But it's not, taxing your customers almost double the price now and raising the prices every month ever since covid, the best. I get that prices went up everywhere. But here it seems prices went up and the food portions stayed the same and some even went down. I'll be lucky if my $9 boneless spare ribs lunch special even has enough meat and rice like it did 2-3 year ago, back when it was still a reasonable $5.50-$6. They'd fill up the tray, now it's half the portion of what they used to give. The pork egg rolls? More like cabbage rolls with pork bits. They used to have actual chunks of pork and now it's mainly just cabbage with the smallest bits of pork you've ever seen. Not even an ant would get full from those small bits. Even Ming's Garden, the absolute worst Chinese place in town, gives better portions. As does Golden Dragon and both of these places have lower prices and have been steady with the rising prices. Unlike No. 1 who's Chinese greed finally caught up to them. While I love the food and will continue to eat there, they need to know that customers notice small changes like this. Especially those who have been eating here for almost 20 years. If they continue these patterns, they risk losing loyal customers and damaging their long standing reputation, potentially becoming No. 2 Chinese...
The worst chinese food i have ever eaten. Bland is not even the word that can describe what a waste of money this was. Plus i am posting a pic of the reciept. Look at all the extra ridiculous charges and yet the do not tell you and you wind up tipping them anyway. So if you do have to order from here do not tip thats what the extra charges are for. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!!
Shanghai Bun
Disappointing. Service was absent. We could’ve just walked out and not pay because the workers there didn’t want to come out and do anything. They forgot what we ordered. Nobody sat in there. The food is so so. We ordered Xiao long bao, pan fried dumplings, and regular fried dumplings. And the scallion pancake was questionable. Maybe I’m just not used to it. Total $34
Food is VERY hit or miss. Some items are more tasty than others. Overall food quality is better some days than others. We have probably ordered food from here 5 times and been disappointed 3 out of 5 times now. Those odds aren't good enough for us to reorder again, especially considering the price.
Bao Dumplings & Bao Tea 寶餃寶茶
Loved it! The staff was very kind and friendly and the service was fast. The dumplings are easily one of the tastiest and highest quality dumplings I've had in NJ. Fried rice and chicken dishes are great as well. The inclusion of a Boba Tea place within is a great addition if you're in the mood for something sweet after your meal. Highly recommend.
The staff was very kind and cheerful. We were seated immediately for lunch. The location itself is clean and well lit. Soft music was playing from ceiling at a healthy volume. The food was great. We ordered both fried and steam dumplings as well as their bao. We also tried the lo main with some chicken as well. Both the name sake bao and tradition take out items were delicious. I do expect to return.
Number 1
Best Chinese food in the county. I have been eating from this restaurant for over 23 years. DO NOT believe those 1 star reviews. The food is ALWAYS VERY GOOD. The owners are wonderful as well.
Food is good, customer service great. We placed an order and one combination was not delivered. We called back, they made the food and re-delivered within 10 minutes.
Xing Wok
This spot rocks! I’ve been ordering from here the past 5 years and honestly it gets better every year. The food is fresh. You can tell they cook things in separate pots/pans unlike other Chinese spots. The general tsos is crispy on the outside and fluffy & juicy on the inside. The sauce is thick and not overly sweet. In my opinion it’s almost perfect. The crab Rangoon is insane. Best around! The lo mein is soft and flavorful; the large portion size is fantastic. The shrimp pieces are a good size and taste great. My delivery guy is always nice as well along with the staff that works there. 5 stars if I could give it 6 I would.
I ordered beef with broccoli and received beef with mushrooms 😩. However I called and the person who answered was very accommodating and rectified my order. Food is excellent. Portion size as well as presentation are good. Food is seasoned well and I would definitely recommend. I did find a rubber piece off a utensil I'm assuming in my food, that is why I only gave three stars
China Buffet
The China Buffet is one of the best I've ever been to. Not only do they offer a wide variety of foods like pizza, ice cream, and more! But what I really loved about this place were the Sushi offerings. I'm a sushi fanatic and I was blown away by the quality and variety of sushi on offer here. Everything from classic rolls to more experimental combinations was absolutely delicious. Of course, you can't forget about the desserts - there are so many different options to satisfy your sweet tooth after enjoying your fill of savory delights. Whether you prefer cake, ice cream, or something else entirely, you're bound to find something you like here. Overall, I highly recommend the China Buffet if you're looking for a wide selection of delicious and high-quality food. The sushi alone is worth the visit, but with so many other options to choose from, you'll definitely leave satisfied!♡
I went to dine by myself because my family no longer enjoys this place. My family only enjoys all you can eat restaurants that offer a hibachi grill. This location has the ability to do that but the station remains empty and unattended. I had a variety options from the sushi area and from the hot food. To my disappointment, there were only a few choices of sushi and three were pretty much the same. They do not have the sushi sauces available like I am used to being able to have at another all you can eat that I prefer to frequent but it's much farther away. Unfortunately, the hot food items were luke warm so I can't enjoy as much unless my food is piping hot. The servers were friendly and didn't hover over me at all to the point where I was waiting to receive my bill. The bill was just under $20. I didn't purchase any beverages. I know prices have risen but I definitely don't think it's something that I will be returning to for quite awhile. Without the grill and the limited sushi offerings, it's much more feasible for my family and me to go somewhere with more options, warmer food and a working hibachi.
Peking Pavilion
High end Chinese food, with more flavor, freshly prepared, and with fantastic service! The service is snappy and friendly. The food comes out very quickly. Everything was delicious, although slightly high in price. The atmosphere is nice. You may not come here every week but it's a great treat once in a while. I got angel hair pasta rice with yellow curry vegetables and pork. I was very happy with my choice. We also got pork soup dumplings for an app which were great. They said it would take 10 minutes to come out and it probably took 8. Also there was no wait at 5:45 on a Friday evening and it looked like they turn over tables very quickly. We will be back!
Great food and service! There was a bit of a wait so we had drinks at the bar, service there was great as well. We ordered salt and pepper squid, pork soup dumplings, beef and broccoli, sesame chicken, garlic eggplant and lo mein with roast pork, delicious!
Golden Jade
This is not our usual place. Either is the one across the street, which we ordered the day before and we’re extremely disappointed to the point that we wanted Chinese again the following night and we chose Golden Jade. Flat-out great food here and I knew it because it’s family run and everyone was friendly. You can tell they take pride in their cooking. We had fried dumplings which would great - they give you 8 and my only critique is they need more filling but the taste is great. The house lomein and house fried rice were outstanding. Fresh and not over sauced. The chicken and broccoli and the general tso chicken were what you expect in the taste department and we’re done very well. Their egg rolls were tasty. The highlight though was the boneless spareribs. So many places get this wrong - these were the best I’ve had in the area even topping my usual place. They had the right amount of glaze, weren’t tough and were made completely using rib meat. Sweet, salty, and easy to chew. This place didn’t disappoint and if it’s a battle between Golden Jade or the one across the street in the junction, Golden Jade is easily the winner.
My favorite local place to get Chinese food. I especially love their pork fried dumplings. It's also a family run business that deserves the love !
New Happy Garden
Food was piping hot and service was quick. They had my order ready in less than 10 minutes.
THE LADY WHO ANSWERS THE PHONE IS VERY RUDE AND INSTEAD OF HER TRYING TO FIX THE ISSUE THAT SHE MADE SHE BLAMES THE PAYING CUSTOMERS LIKE LADY TAKE A CHILL PILL WHEN YOU HEAT UP FOOD IN THE MICROWAVE NUMEROUS TIMES I WILL NOT BE SUPPORTING YOUR BUSINESS WITH YOUR NASTY ATTITUDE AND NON CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS FOOD TASTE STALE AND I WATCHED HER MICROWAVE PEOPLE FOOD I'M CONTACT THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT ON THIS BUSINESS UNSAFE AND UNSANITARY METHODS OF HANDLING FOOD
UJ's Asian Bistro
We always get delivery as it's small inside, but the food is always great and delivery is super fast. Couple times from the time I ordered it was delivered in 15 minutes! They are super close but that is unbelievablely fast. We will continue to order. They have Chinese and Japanese food and both are great. My only complaint would be that their special expensive sushi rolls are small compared to other restaurants.
Speaking from a native point of view, UJ is probably as close to authentic tasting (cooking techniques, sauces etc) for Chinese American cuisine. Currently it is my go to for Chinese food in the area...food is cooked well, not too heavy, high quality ingredients, lots of attention to detail in their dishes. Just comparing the fried rice that comes with the combos, you'll find it superior to any other Chinese restaurants' equivalent in their combos. I've only ordered take out, but they do have a dining room. The service has always been prompt and friendly with lots of staff working. The other huge plus is that it's probably the only restaurant in the area that closes the latest.
China Palace Restaurant
Extremely authentic Taiwanese food!! One of the best i’ve had! They only do take outs!
The Chinese name of the restaurant literally meant "Taiwan Small Eatery" and that was what it served: authentic, inexpensive Taiwanese food that was sold at roadside eateries in Taiwan. It even played old (very old) Taiwanese/Japanese songs in the background. Our favorite was the Crispy tofu with cucumber chili sauce. We also liked most of the noodle dishes that we had tried . The only dish we did not like was the Tu-Tuo fish noodle soup. We could not detect fish in the fried fish. They tasted like fried flour.
Nemo
One of my family's very favorite restaurants! There's something for everyone - vegans. vegetarians, and meat eaters - and the menu has endless variety! We love the atmosphere, especially the outside deck, and the service and attention are fantastic!
Delicious food and drink at a good price as well. My daughter (9) tried so many new foods and loved them all! The bubble tea and smoothies are delicious! Can't wait to go back.
