Jefferson Market
I came in to buy Zyn’s black cherry 3mg. She rings me up and tells me ok $13 and change!!! Are you kidding me. Everywhere sells them for 8-10 bucks everywhere. And it’s really bad because I’ve been going there for three weeks to buy the black cherry and I was paying $11. Every time I went in I thought that was a lot, but it was an exotic flavor. Not a great way to keep customers…
Love all their sandwiches and whoa if you get extra meat on an Italian Hoagie! So good.
China wok
Heard about this place from a friend, came all the way from long island to try it! This is the best Chinese food I've ever had. Would give 6/5 stars if I could
Great crispy sesame chicken years ago.. gonna try again soon. Thought of them now cause every spot in my new city sucks
Hyderabad Spice
This place has the best Indian food I have ever had hands down. Their butter chicken is amazing and my go-to dish, but I have tried many others and they are all amazing. Sahi is an amazing waitress as well.... super kind and helpful. A+++++
Visited for lunch and was seated quickly as it wasn’t busy. The ambience was decent, but parking is limited in the shopping complex. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The Kodi Vepadu was overly seasoned with curry leaf powder and lacked balanced spices. Both the chicken and goat biryani used the same rice, with the meat only at the bottom. The goat was okay, but the deep-fried chicken was sour and lacked biryani flavors. Overall, the food lacked the flavor and joy we were looking for, though portions were fair for the price.
Royal Curry Exotic Indian Cuisine
I’ve never eaten in the restaurant but some weekends it’s ordered to the house as a treat. The food is amazing. I saw a review before by this guy claiming he left his food outside for 30 minutes and it has a foul smell, well buddy, that sounds like a you problem.. anyways. If you don’t forget the food and actually eat it when you’re supposed to, it’s the best tasting Indian food close by. Do not miss out on giving it a chance.
Stumbled upon this gem by accident and I highly recommend. This little spot is unassuming at first but the service is good and the food is even better. My only regret coming here is I live too far to make it a frequent spot of mine.
Empire Szechuan
Empire Szechuan in Englishtown, NJ is a neighborhood jewel of a Chinese restaurant. I went there with my cousin. She didn't think we needed a reservation, but she made one anyway. It's a good thing we had that reservation because this restaurant is very popular. Soon after we arrived there was a line of people waiting for tables. We both had a combination dinner which comes with either soup or egg roll, pork fried rice, and your choice among several entrees. She had roast pork and Chinese vegetables. She enjoyed her meal, but she didn't like the fortune in her fortune cookie. I had an egg roll, pork fried rice and shrimp chow mein. They were excellent. My fortune in the cookie was just fine. The cookie itself was sweet and delicious. Neither of us ordered the regular entrees, but I saw some regular entrees being served at other tables. Those entrees are big enough for two adults. Service was friendly and efficient. The decor is very nice. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, and there's plenty of free parking in the lot out front.
Special, top-tier Chinese. Great, quiet atmosphere and very friendly service. Started with the egg drop wonton soup, the broth was flavorful and had just the right texture, and the wontons were delicious and tightly filled with quality filling and not too doughy. Then the firecracker shrimp were plentiful, fresh, not overcooked, on a bed of fresh lettuce with a wonderful sauce (the sauce was so good i ate all of the lettuce underneath too!) The chicken dumplings (fried), like the wontons, were filled with high quality ingredients and the dough had a pleasing crunch (awesome.) moving on to the pork egg foo young which wasn’t burnt nor undercooked (which is a major problem with most places) it was all cohesive bites with pork and eggs and herbs finished with a sinful brown sauce which had a hint of sweetness that really boosted the depth of flavor. Also the standard, general tso’s chicken, big chunks of high quality chicken, sweet sauce with lots of heat, and soft on the inside crunchy on the outside. All in all a spectacular meal and a place i would recommend without hesitation to anyone.
Grand China
The Owner couple is very well behaved & friendly. Lady always remembers what I order & she makes sure food will be ready in no time. She always serves hot & fresh food. She is a very hard-working lady though, I appreciate all her effort. Thank you. The food quantity is good with the price. the place is clean & they have parking so there will no problem to reach their place.I love their orange chicken, shrimp roll & egg fried rice with chicken
It is my favorite takeout Chinese food place. Lady is very nice there. She recognizes my call everytime and she adds all the extras I ask with my order. One of the few Chinese places which does not make a fuzz for giving hot oil when asked. Food is super nice too and they would make the dish exactly the way you want if you request to make changes.
Shamim’s Kitchen Pakistani & Indian Halal Takeout Restaurant
Delicate food. HALAL Restaurant. I took my friend for dinner, and I was responsible for picking a place. I searched for a Halal restaurant, and I saw good reviews and decided to choose this place. 1st when we walked in, we were a little skeptical. There were no any other dine-in customers. The owner greeted us. We decided to give the place a chance, and thank God we did. Everything we ordered was very delicious, and we ordered a lot for 2 people We had : - Butter chicken pizza ( it says on the menu that it's a personal pizza. So we thought we would have 2 small slices each as an appetizer, but it was like a medium pizza). -chicken biryani large or regular (the biggest size from 2 options in the menu) -butter chicken with rice (the biggest size, which was regular or large , I can't remember) - 1 garlic naan -mango Lassi -plain lassi As a courtasy, the owner gave us a free desert (semia). We enjoyed every single food. We tried all, but couldn't finish and took the leftovers with us. The only thing I didn't like here was plain Lassi. It tasted like milk with water. I tried adding salt, hoping it will help with the taste, and made it worse. And that Lassi costs $5.... While we were eating several people came to pick up their orders placed online. The sitting area was quite nice. See the pictures. Parking is free. Also it's kind of hard not to miss the rest. When the navigator said, "You've arrived," I stopped on the road and took a few seconds to see the rest and sign for parking. I recommend this restaurant, but not the plain Lassi New Jersey
We were on a road trip and stopped for food because of the great reviews. It felt like eating a home made meal in someone’s home. The food was delicious and Naveed was super friendly and sweet. He added a great dessert to our meal. Definitely a different, fun food experience for us and a great stop.
China Star
Was recommended this restaurant and boy am i grateful i was! Food is delicious, so flavorful. I already can't wait to try more dishes next time i order food.
Walked in here unsure but left out very satisfied. I was greeted by a well mannered young lady who took my order. She explained the benefit of paying in cash vs card. The food was exactly how I asked it to be cooked. The taste was excellent. This was my first time here but won’t be my last.
Rai Rai Ramen
We decided to check this place out on an off day. The atmosphere was simple and service was okay. I got the spicy curry ramen and my fiancé got the pepper steak ramen - both were very good. My one son got the seafood ramen but it was okay. The other son got the shabu shabu which he liked.
I’m sure most people come for the ramen but being a seeker of mapo tofu I dropped by to taste their take on the Chinese dish. I ordered a single plate of their mapo tofu over rice. First impression was visual: it’s a big plate of food! Which felt nice because their pricing nowadays is around $15. Taste-wise, their mapo tofu has a light heat that I’d say is less spicy than sriracha. I couldn’t notice much of the bean paste flavor that I’ve come to generally prefer. By default the dish is cooked with minced pork. I thought it was ok, and liked the silky tofu they used rather than the more firm tofu used by others. All said, I would’ve said I’d order this dish again despite its flavor profile not being among my favorites - but then a few hours later I started to feel a stomach ache, and I did not overate and this was the only dish I had. Of course your own mileage may vary because my aging digestive system seems less tolerant of new things!
Umi Hotpot Sushi & Seafood Buffet | Hot pot restaurant
Restaurant UMI is a true gem for food lovers! The dishes are fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. I especially recommend the variety of seafood, sushi, and dumplings. The cozy atmosphere is perfect for relaxation. The prices are reasonable, and the female staff is very friendly. However, the downside was the behavior of the male staff who insisted on tips for service. I’ve been to many restaurants, and I’ve never encountered something like this, where you give a tip, and someone tells you it’s not enough. A tip is a personal choice and a gesture of gratitude, not an obligation. This gentleman was simply rude, and the manager should address this issue and make it clear that such behavior is unacceptable.
5 stars are not enough for this place. Anything you can think of, lobsters, crabs, sushi, clams, oysters, lamb, ox tail, beef ribs, bubble tea, sodas, amazing deserts…. All included and all of great quality. The snow crab was so fresh that I had another plate. In the end, I was pleasantly surprised by how reasonable the price was for this quality of food. Hands down the best buffet I’ve had in America.
KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot
The food here is very good and it is a wonderful culinary experience. The meats/vegetables are always fresh and it is worth going for dinner time, since it includes all the meats. For a couple or two people it is a price of $83 with drinks (like sodas) + tip and I do feel that it is a bit excessive in price, I consider that if everything came out to $80 (tip included) it would be more affordable, since paying almost $100 per couple is not very good… however, I reiterate that the food IS worth it. I would add more dessert options, salad bar and a children's menu. Since the desserts are only 2-3 options and not for the general public, so it would be great if they added more sweet options.
I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but the service we received was really disappointing. The front desk staff spent most of their time chatting. Dirty plates were piling up, and no one came to clear them. Our water ran out, and even after asking, it wasn’t refilled promptly. Our grill plate got burnt, and it only got changed after we kept asking. We had to constantly go out of our way to get the servers’ attention. Meanwhile, other tables seemed to be getting attentive service. Since the waiter automatically receive an 18% tip regardless of the service quality, it seems like he doesn’t care about providing good service. I’m not a difficult customer, but the service we experienced didn’t deserve such a high tip.
La China Poblana
This is the best Mexican food in New Jersey. I'm from SoCal and spent many summers in Mexico. I know authentic Mexican food, before this I didn't think NJ offered it to this degree. The prices for the portion sizes are beyond fair and the salsa is easily top 3 salsa verde (including even Mexico) I've enjoyed. The breakfast is made perfect whether you enjoy a classic American style or something Hispanic you'll be satisfied. The ambiance and decor is beautiful and well done. The staff is extremely friendly and everything is extremely clean. Not to mention many classic Mexican pastries and a variety of aguas frescas!!!
Went here with a friend recently after looking for a place to eat. Being Hispanic, I'm usually pretty critical of Hispanic food that isn't my mother's cooking. But this place is good. Really good. The food comes out fresh and full of flavor, their drinks have variety, and the environment is awesome. Pricing is fair and we spent around $50 with 2 Appetizers, 2 Entrees, and multiple drinks. Do not skip this spot.
