Cilantro Chinese Cuisine
This is the most underrated Chinese restaurant in Harvard Sq! It mostly does takeout but they have plenty of open tables, not too much ambience but the food is always top notch, service is very fast, friendly, and good portions. Great choice to take your vegetarian and vegan friends, as they don't make most of the vegetable dishes with ground meat. They do have American-Chinese food on their menu but I usually get the traditional Chinese stirfry dishes. Their salt & pepper tofu (pictured) is hands down the best in the city, not greasy, just the right amount of salt, always perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Last time I went I got their Three Treasures for the first time, and it wasn't greasy like at many other places. Great wok char. This place has been open for more than a decade and the sad thing is, they've not been as busy lately. I really hope it does enough business, I'd be so sad if it disappeared along with so many other restaurant staples in the area.
Went in for late lunch to Cilantro on a Sunday. The place wasn't too busy. Our servers were kind, attentive and prompt. The food was amazing and the portions were great. Everyone enjoyed the food including the kids. Thanks for the great service, Stella and team.
Sumiao Hunan Kitchen
The food here was excellent, all of the dishes had great texture. The steamed egg tofu dish was very smooth, and the spice and sweetness paired very well together. However, I think I would have personally preferred it to not be spicy. All of the dishes were flavored very well! I definitely recommend the steamed eggs and spicy cucumber appetizer. For dessert, I had the chocolate fudge, which was super yummy 🥰🥰
These categories all deserve a minimum of five starts but I wish that I could indicate service as ten stars!!!! I've only been to this restaurant four times and they've all been AMAZING!!!!!! In fact, from the last time to the most recent time, a month passed and yet Johnny still remembered what cocktail I said that I wanted to try next. I would not imagine that would be possible, if it hadn't actually happened. He also remembers from one visit to the next that I want my spice level at the hottest possible - he doesn't even ask anymore. I was worried that it was forgotten once and he had already taken care of it! In addition to Johnny, Bao has also provided great service, as well as the rest of the staff, who are always beyond friendly. Another person who has made me feel special is Ernest. As a manager, he is busy, yet he goes out of his way to welcome me back! I feel like I'm returning to friends when I dine at Sumaio. In addition to the world-class service that I receive, the food is top-tier! Hot kiss and nom numb wings are (thus far) my favorite two items on the menu but I keep trying new dishes! Everything on the menu has been great! However, not all dishes include the spice that I like so when I've made a comment about the food not quite being to my liking, they immediately provide spicy options to enhance the dish! For my preferences, this corrects any tast shortcomings. But wait - there's more!!! The cocktails! Not only are they tasty, but they're served in such style! The mai tai (one of my faves and a standard on the menu) comes in a clear tiki glass. Yesterday, I had a seasonal drink, the spiced cherry swizzle, which was nothing short of fantastic! I also enjoy drinks from "The Globetrotter Club". I don't want to spoil the surprise but I hope that you can obey the rules in order to experience this delight! They also offer a variety of non-alcoholic options that I have either tried or just admire from afar. I am sorry that it took me so long to try Sumaio after it was recommended to me but now that I know the people and food, I am doing my best to make up for lost time. Kudos to the Sumaio team for creating such an amazing experience for the Boston/Cambridge community!
Our Zone 第五空间 家常川菜
Food is good but parking is very difficult. The restaurant isn't crowded on a Friday night. I think it is because of the parking situation. We spent a good half an hour looking for parking and ended up parking somewhere a 8 minutes walk away. I advise people take public transportation or walk. Food was unique in their flavor of compared to other run of the mill Sichuan restaurants. Portions are huge and they make food tailored to your party's liking.
Good service. Excellent value. My death row meal is the double cooked bacon and garlic bak choy… seriously. Bone-in spicy chicken dish with potatoes but I understand that’s the style. Making this place a staple!
Cathay Kitchen
Delicious hot tasty food! The best Chinese food we’ve tasted it in quite some time . Reasonably price, and super friendly! We will definitely be ordering from here again our new favorite Chinese food place! Fast delivery too! Delicious!! -5 stars!!!
This is exactly what you want and expect from a Chinese takeout place. The food was hot and fresh with the perfect blend of salty, sweet, and fatty flavor notes. The quality of the chicken was excellent (white meat, not fatty). The guy working behind the counter was extremely friendly when I went to pick up the food. I will be coming back!
Tsang's Village Cafe
Very solid choice, esp for lunch. Good portion size, good value, and good taste. Not “authentic” Chinese, but still very tasty. The boneless spareribs (I.e. char siu) was very good! Recommended!
I have been going to Tsang's off and on for 10 years and sometimes it was good and sometimes not. This visit will definitely be my last. I went for dinner with my brother on a Monday night about 1 1/2 hours before they closed. The only thing I wanted was a sushi roll and my brother ordered bone-in spare ribs. We ordered a couple of other appetizers to share. The spare ribs came and we quickly noticed that 3 of the 6 ribs were older than the others and there were bite marks out of 2 of them. It was disgusting. They must have taken ribs off of a plate that was returned from another table without realizing 2 of the ribs had bites in them. Wow! The server did not seem too concerned when we complained and did not take the ribs off of our bill. When I asked about the sushi roll, she said we quote "didn't need it" because we already had too much food. I couldn't believe a restaurant was turning down business. I have never in my many years experienced anything like this. I wonder how they can be in business for so long.
Imperial Garden
This place reminds me of old school Chinese restaurants! There was a pot of tea! The food was fresh filling and delicious! We got a combo app of boneless ribs, wings, crab rangoon, and an egg roll. We also got a small beef teriyaki, general gao's chicken and pork chow mein. Everything was great! We stuffed ourselves! We took the leftovers home to my friends husband! He loved it to! We shared a scorpion bowl, too. The bill was 60 bucks. There's no way you could go wrong!
Just your everyday average looking place with great food, drinks and service. Served quickly and food comes out very hot, fried appetizers are hot, crispy and not over fried or dried out. Some of the best chicken wings I've had. Haven't been disappointed yet.
Quan's Kitchen
Visited for the first time and the food was gross. The rice had an overwhelming taste of butter, which wouldn't be bad if that's what I ordered. The pork spareribs were 80% fat and the meat tasted stale. Never returing.
We love Quan’s! The food is usually delicious and fresh tasting. We love the veggie fried rice, veggie lo mein, kung pao chicken, general gao’s chicken. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The decor is impressive. Great place for a large group or dinner & drinks with friends, or a quiet family dinner.
China Plaza
We ordered on Monday for New Year's Eve pickup at 4. We were a little early but the food wasn't even lukewarm. Additionally, according to the prices on their menu our order should have been about $67 before taxes. They charged $97! We were very disappointed with the quality of the food. I have been patronizing this restaurant nearly since they first opened their doors but this was the last time I will go there or order their takeout. Disappointing food · Poor presentation
I highly recommend the Crab Rangoons, Scallion Pancakes and the Wonton Soup! It's delicious and the atmosphere and prices are great.
SAIGON RESTAURANT
The chicken pho phenomenon! So delicious. Love the Christmas music, so festive and great. We ate that up it was so good great portions for the price. We are repeat customers so let me also tell you about the Bahn Mi. So bomb def get it. And the Thai iced tea.
We have been coming to Saigon since Clark University days 12 years ago. The food and service has always been excellent. One of our favorite places in Worcester!
Oishi Japanese Restaurant
Food: I got the seaweed salad, Gyoza, Fuji Mountain and Worcester Maki roll. honestly, I’m quite disappointed by the overall quality as everything was just rather soggy. For eight dollars of seaweed salad the portion is screaming. The Gyoza’s would have been decent if they were crispy fried. Both the sushi rolls tasted like they’ve been sitting for a little too long and the wraps were soggy. Overall, it just wasn’t fresh. Service: I ordered takeout, which was fine when I scheduled to pick up at eight. It was already ready a little earlier. Ambiance: it’s rather quiet but spacious. They recently renovated the place so it’s rather nice inside. Location accommodation: there’s parking on the side towards the right side of the restaurant.
I was at Oishi yesterday and ordered crab rangoons, pork bao buns and ramen bowls but did not seem to be like I expected them at all. Crab rangoons were really good. The buns for the bao buns were soggy, don’t even get me started on the ramen bowls. There was absolutely no flavors to the broth of the bowls. The menu says it’s spicy but it literally had no flavor. I wouldn’t go back.
Jasmine Asian Restaurant
The food is really good. Easily became our go-to for Chinese takeout. The restaurant itself is really big but has different area so it feels intimate. We've never had to wait for a table, regardless of the day we visit. The service is good. The food comes out so fast it's crazy, like super fast. The hibachi tables are a good exerting and there are a lot if them so even that doesn't have a wait. Highly recommend.
Went to celebrate a 50th birthday party. Reservations were for 3:30. They grilled my sister(who made the reservations for her husband) because everyone was not there at 3:30 even though everyone arrived at 3:35. We were immediately seated and the waitress handed us menus and expected us to know what we wanted. Literally demanded our orders. I told her I needed a few minutes but gave me no time. My son mentioned the severe egg allergy but was served sauce and soup with egg in it. They tried to serve him food that was cooked in the same surface that egg was cooked. No one cared about allergies. Very, very, very rude waitress. I’ve never been treated this was before. For service there are zero stars. No customer service at this place. Will never go back. I’m literally in disbelief.
Pho Sure
Very extensive menu. Went here for lunch with a group of 12 which the restaurant was able to accommodate. Waitstaff was able to keep up with a full dining room. We had the udon noodle soup which was flavorful. Also had the udon seafood stir fry where the sauce was good. For apps had the spring roll with peanut sauce. Lots of gluten free options. Will be back to try other items on the menu.
I loved the last place, their new site has a lot more seating … the parking lot is a little to navigate. This place is a favorite of ours. Wonderful food, large dishes - it’s soup … all kinds - they do have some dry options. The staff is always kind and helpful. Strongly recommend!
