My goto place for american Chinese food since middle school. Unfortunately, I don't live in the area anymore, so from time to time, when I get a chance, I order from here. The restaurant itself is a time capsule that hasn't changed much other than the price. Typically, I avoid any closed kitchen carryout as they usually come plagued with some surprises. Overall, cleanliness is good other than from time to time there is a notable sewer smell. There also seems to be a rotation of employees noted that the usual guy whom intake order (usually rather passively rude) was not in today or the past few visit. That's a plus!.

Very good food and great selection of classic Chinese food options. Lunch specials are huge and fried rice served with meal is fantastic. Clean establishment set mostly for to-go ordering, but there is bench seating. Friendly service too.

Been eating here for 15+ years. Always loved their food until recently, when I ordered Mongolian Style Lamb. Supposed to be "sliced lamb with mushroom, green onion in ginger hoisin sauce". Asked for no mushrooms. When I got home, I realized I received beef, not lamb, and a dish full of onions. No green onions, less than a dozen slices of beef (only a couple slices of lamb), and about two whole onions, sliced (see attached photo). There were enough to fill my rice container to the brim! Disgusting and a ripoff. Hate to say this, because this used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant, but check your meat to ensure it's the meat you ordered, and your meat-to-vegetable ratio, before you leave this restaurant, because it looks like they're in the business of ripping you off now.

Worst Chinese food I've ever had. They seem to have cooked the tofu spoiled. They burnt the Lo Mein (HOW?) The fried rice and steam dumpling were palatable-decent even. Huge portions but poor quality. Literally threw money in the trash this weekend.

I used to like this place but lately the quality of food has decreased.I would get their shrimp egg foo yung whenever I placed an order. Today I had the worst food ever from there. I'm not even sure how but the patty for the egg foo young was burnt as well as the shrimp. Just terrible and a waste of money. I tried to call and talk to a manager but of course no one was there. Well Szechuan inn it's a hard no for me.

Everything I just got was horrible. Bourbon Chicken was so burned and dry. Paid extra for fried rice and even that was gross and old. I got beef on a stick, it was beef jerky! So dried out. Disgusting. I even got stale crispy noodles. It was the end of the night so I can’t even take it back. Will never waste my money there again

The husband and I stopped at Szechuan Express today to place an order after our errands were done in Bel Air. We hadn't ordered anything in several years as we had moved 300 miles away. We finally escaped WV and bought a house in PA. Well, 25 miles for take-out food seemed a bit excessive, though we did it a few times, it was just too long a ride. Today we decided to go for it since we were in the area anyway, and hoped the food was still good. OMG it's as good, if not better, than I remembered. It’s probably been 7 or 8 years since we bought food at Szechuan Express, and I was SO PLEASED to discover they’ve maintained their high quality and delicious flavors. There’s a little Chinese food take-out place near us, and I’m grateful it’s nearby, but the food just doesn’t compare. (They don’t even have shrimp toast or serve pork, except for ham in the fried rice). Of course, we bought chicken-on-a-stick, shrimp toast, pork fried rice, pork lo mein, and the Four Seasons with chicken, shrimp, roast pork, and beef. There is more than enough food leftover for two or three more meals. All-in-all, we were very pleased and are looking forward to our next outing down to the traffic of Bel Air and the great food at Szechuan Express.

Our family has been eating here for years. The food is always fresh. The Shrimp Fried is the best I’ve ever had and they use large shrimp and are very generous with amount of shrimp they put in the order. Make sure that your try the Garlic Shrimp. It’s outstanding! The Lo Mein has the most amazing smokey flavor. Lastly, the Won Ton soup always has a generous portion of Won Ton’s. They don’t skimp.

Don't eat here if you have a nut allergy. I normally have loved this restaurant and its food, but this is the second time I have gotten food from here and have had an allergic reaction due to a peanut or a walnut being in my food. Obviously I don't order the meals that have nuts in it. I'm assuming this place doesn't care about cross contamination because there's no reason orange chicken with half and half (my go to order) should have a lone peanut in it. Moral of the review, choose a different establishment because this one is not worth it.

One ding on the cleanliness of the restaurant, it was shortly after what was probably the lunch rush and it was a mess! There were very few clean tables to choose from. The food, however, was top notch. Fresh and hot! The new Chili Shrimp was tasty and I had my old standby Beijing Beef and Black Pepper Chicken. All were great. The noodles were so fresh and you could taste buttery flavor thruout them. A really great experience overall, just recommend cleaning up sooner/more often.

I've eaten here 2× both times fried rice was over fried and my chicken tasted burnt. Customer service is poor and the atmosphere isn't too bad maybe because there's never hardly any Customer do yourself a favor and just order from somewhere else.

The food is not that bad but the customer service sucks and they need to work on that seriously or they going to lose a lot of customers

Tried this place for the first time and I was genuinely surprised at how good everything was. I avoided this place because of all the prior negative reviews but decided to give it a try to see for myself and I'm glad I did. This is hands down some of the best food I've had in this area. The sesame chicken was so tender and the eggrolls were cooked to perfection. The lady at the front was also super helpful and kind. We were very happy with our purchase here. At the time we went, they only took cash so keep cash on you if you plan to go. There is also an atm nearby. It was all money well spent if you ask me.❤️

Good Food! Definitely among the best Chinese food in the area. This place is cash only! Walking in the lobby is clean, but not much to look at. Overall great spot!

Since the original owners retired the food has drastically changed for the worst unfortunately. I have ordered here several times to see if it was an off night, but each time the food has been very bland (no flavor). The customer service has gone down as well. It is convenient in town but I will be making the drive to China Garden from now on to get better quality Chinese food. Sorry China Wok of Walkersville, but your missing the mark on making good food ....

One of my annual Christmas Eve tradition is to have Chinese food from this restaurant. Next year I will be either looking for another Chinese restaurant or changing the type of food all together. Not only was my order messed up but the food was very tasteless and of poor quality. What a huge let down!

I just ordered this food and am having immediate regrets. This food is NASTY!! The egg rolls taste old and just wrong. The fried rice looks like it's been sitting in the same grease FOR DAYSSS. This was supposed to be a good valentines dinner. There are a couple hunan delights in the area. I thought I was ordering from the one by fruitland walmart. They had great reviews. I will NEVER order from this place again. Do not even try them thinking you'll get a better serve....you won't! Read all the reviews, they are all pretty much the same. Bad, bad, bad

Today I ordered the 5 wings and shrimp fried rice with a gingerade. Everything was horrible: my chicken was not done all the way 2/5 I ate. My rice looked like dirty rice and they fried it and added shrimp. My ginger ale exp. 4/2025 but was flat as my ass. Out of many years of ordering, my worse experience ever!

My sister ordered our dinner. I requested egg drop soup, moo goo gai pan and sweet donuts. I want to tell you that everything was absolutely amazingly delicious. I will definitely be eating from here often. I didn’t rate the atmosphere because my brother in law went and picked it up as a carryout order. Order from here. You won’t regret it.

Family owned standard Chinese takeout, good portion sizes, and excellent service. My family has been very happy with our meals from here. Great options for vegetarians too!

I ordered Orange Chicken and fried rice. The chicken was very soggy like it was sitting for a while and then reheated. Did not taste fresh, Cold, and poorly made.

So I haven’t ordered Chinese in years but for a Baltimore location I definitely enjoyed my meal. I am used to fresh tasting NY Chinese but I’ve been living in Baltimore for 3 years and really craving their food. I ordered from China Wok: Shrimp/Broccoli with a side of steamed white rice & a steak & cheese egg roll with a few other menu items. (Cheese wontons) were a perfect crisp with the flavorful melty cheese. Few other menu items for a great night with a taste of Chinese cuisine. Definitely would buy again for a feast night with my spouse. I don’t like that the homemade teas were $3.50 used to $1.25 in NYC didn’t even drink it yet but I do like the portion size for the price on the shrimp and broccoli.
