Golden Apple Buffet Restaurant
This is a decent buffet. Comments about being overpriced are unfortunate because you get to eat unlimited plates of good fresh quality food including sushi/sashimi, at $15 (lunch) or $21(dinner) is an amazing deal. I agree some people think the food temperature was a bit on the lukewarm side, I purposely dish out a steaming plate of food, but by the time you finish going around the entire buffet options and sit down, the food on your plate may not be as steaming anymore 😆. So if you want hot 🥵 food, get one dish and go straight to your seat and eat it straight away. A good tip on getting hotter temp is to stir the food around if it's something that can be moved around, like a pan of coconut shrimp or soup, get the portion at the bottom because whatever is sitting on top will be cooler and not touching the steam table at the bottom. Overall, the service was very attentive, our server was from Bali/Indonesia and he was very friendly and cleared all our empty plates constantly. We also saw him check on all the nearby tables nonstop. The only reason it didn't get the final star is because there was no lobster tails option during weekend dinner as advertised. Nevertheless, if you're poofed out from shopping at the Legends, or need a Chinese buffet fix, and starving, this buffet might be a good place to pig out.
When we went to the restaurant, it was around 4 in the afternoon on a Friday. I was anticipating a large crowd, but it wasn't very busy yet. The food at that time was fresh. From the buffet area, we can see one of the chefs/cooks grilling the meat. The baked lobsters are also freshly put on the serving tray and steaming hot. Although I am limited to what I can eat, they offer a wide variety of cuisine. With the kind of diet I have, I still walked out of Golden Apple Buffet Restaurant feeling full. My favorite was the peppered chicken thighs. It was cooked just right. The restaurant had grilled steak, baked lobsters, pizza, hot and sour soup, egg drop soup, various shrimp dishes, beef and broccoli, crab Rangoon, egg rolls, fries, and a lot more. They had crabs, cocktail shrimp, and mussels all on ice. They had a selection of sushi, fruits, and dessert. In the end, there's a mini deep freezer with multiple flavors of ice cream cups. There's a lot more. The staff was friendly. Our waiter (young gentleman) was attentive on taking the plates off the table. The only thing that we didn't like was that there's a lot of seating available, but we were put close to the bathroom. Overall, it seems worth giving another try.
KIN LIN
Dang I love this place. Very laid back. Good food. I'm vegetarian rn except for fish on Fridays. I love their vegetarian options, and they appease me when I ask for vinegar. Their squid is also very good.
Been eating at Kin Lin sense I moved here! Never had a problem other then owner being a little rude at times. Other then that the waiters have been nice and kind and the food is actually the best Chinese in the city! They take there time and cook things to the best they can! This is a MUST if your in KC
Spring China
This place is awful. The food tastes like the disdain with which they serve you. Still locked up from COVID. You can't go in, rain or shine. You have to stand outside which is fine. Because, the windows and doors are filthy, and what you can see of the inside looks no better. The food was cold, and the shrimp fried rice smelled like it had a yeast infection. Yes, it tastes as bad as it smelled. The spring rolls were crispy on the outside but mushy and gross inside. This place charges way too much for zero effort. The prices are insane for the horrible food and attitude you get from here. The family that owns the place are rude to put it mildly. I will not be going back. Hell. I'm surprised they haven't been shut down already. Good luck, if for some reason you have to eat here.
I had the chow mein at this restaurant, and it was fantastic! The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the flavors were rich and delicious. The staff was friendly, and the service was quick. Definitely a great spot for a tasty meal. Highly recommend!
China Dragon
I am a Chinese food lover. This place has degraded in their food and service. I kept going back thinking I was tripping. I will not ever go there again just sloppy and distasteful!?!!?
I can't say enough good about this mom and pop location!! I try to visit at least twice a week and always get AMAZINGLY FRESH AND TASTY food every time!!! They seem to do a huge take out business and I can see why. The same gal is always working the front counter and is super friendly and appreciative of the business. NOT the nicest of locations but it's safe and always pretty dead around that part of troost. There sweet and sour chicken n pork are BOTH great options. The Mongolian beef was also amazing.
China Star
I love Chinese food and his carb rangoon is the best out of the 10 or so Chinese restaurants I've eaten at. Thick cheese, crispy rind, whatever I order, I have to bring it with me. I'm sure anyone who eats it will come back for more.
They have lots of pictures showing their plates of food. I ordered General Tso’s. It showed it with a halo of broccoli but they served in with no broccoli! We asked for water and they would only sell us bottled water, my first in a restaurant! We were sitting in a booth and she called us to pick up our food packed in styrofoam in a bag! My General Tso’s was unbelievably tough. Hardly chewable! I believe it had been deep fried previously and dumped back in the fryers after I ordered it! I would only recommend this to my ex-spouse!
Steam Bowl Chinese Restaurant
Food was decent. I got the general Tso’s chicken and the combination lo mein. The price was not too bad. The sauce on the chicken was more on the sour side for some reason and is not what I’m used to. I requested extra spicy but sadly it was not spicy at all. I was really looking forward to a spicy Chinese restaurant. The low mein was bland but good thing I was able to save it by adding my own seasonings. The portions were pretty huge though. The packing container that they came with are super low quality. They melted from the hot foods so the liquids leaked. The indoors was pretty clean but very cold due to no heat on in the dining area. Overall I might come back to try other stuff if I’m in the area. I would say give them a try and find out for yourself if you like it or not.
Not as good as it used to be, tbh the chicken doesn’t even taste or have the texture of chicken. People there are normal, service is what you expect honestly. Giving a decent rating since I used to love the more authentic part of which it’s not anymore
Oriental Express
I'm pleased. It's regular take-out Chinese however, it's fresh and the sauces are not cloying and gooey. The seasonings are perfect; no need to add salt, just the right amount of heat in the spicy dishes, and no nasty fish sauce. The food was delivered quickly and was nice and hot. It's also nice that they are open later than other restaurants.
I have never had a worse experience with a Chinese delivery place than this. I called and placed an order at 6:58. I waited for an hour with no food. I called them back to find out that, oh, they forgot to actually put the order in. It'll be about 20 minutes. But, they will send some free food. 35 minutes later, my food arrives. The delivery driver tells me the total for me to pay. Problem, I paid over the phone with my card. He had to write down my credit card number. The food is mediocre. Only really liked the crab rangoon and egg drop soup. This was my first, and last time, I will be eating at the Oriental Express.
Rainbow China
My first time order food from them & the food was fresh, hot & to my satisfaction! I was pleased! The combination fried rice could use just a lil work on flavor & more ingredients but; The chicken nuggets were delicious! They remind me of McDonald’s nuggets but better;I was impressed!
Ok so I placed an order from Postmates and I didn’t receive my fried chicken wings or jumbo shrimp and this platter cost $14!!! Then I ordered fried dumplings which were a tad on the burnt side and my sauce was spilled over everything!!!
Friendship Chinese Restaurant
This is one of the best Chinese restaurants to eat at. I get the shrimp lo mein and it’s never dry. Everything is so flavorful and the service is great, everybody is always so friendly and welcoming. The Crab rangoons are so fire🔥 I’ve been to plenty of Chinese spots and none that serve food as good as this one and they prices are so reasonable. Y’all better get you some!🔥
The rice was gross 🤮! It was super greasy and not even seasoned! I asked for spicy rice and it wasn’t spicy! I even said it twice to be sure and the lady gone get smart as if you let me know she heard me. Well the rice still wasn’t spicy! The egg rolls were decent but the rice could use some improvements! It looks good but tastes horribly. You can’t go in to sit if you like you have to order thru the drive thru.
China Feast
I paid $13.00 for a meal for one person all I ordered was combination fried rice and it was over $13.00 the service was not polite nor rude they were just meh! I will probably not go there again simply because the food was not worth $13.00 and the service was not welcoming.
I DON'T EVER COMPLAIN ABOUT PLACES UNLESS IT'S REALLY BAD I ORDERED ORANGE CHICKEN THAT CAME WITH WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FRIED RICE AND A CRAB RANGOON. THE CHICKEN THAT I BOUGHT WAS SO OVERCOOKED THERE WAS NO MEAT ON THERE TO CHEW IT WAS COMPLETELY HARD AND WAY TOO HARD FOR ME TO CHEW AND EAT THAT IT ALL WENT TO WASTE THE FRIED RICE WAS CRAP AS WELL AND LOOKING IN THROUGH THE WINDOW AT CHINA FEAST IT LOOKS TRIFLING AND SUPER DIRTY IN THERE!! NEVER AGAIN
King's Chef Chinese Food
Singapore Noodles... one of the best things there. I order my food and asked how much was told $9 & change and actually paid $11. Should have said $11 instead of $9. Not the best Chinese restaurant. Combination fried rice is not great at all onions are diced too big.
Sour chicken.. Food poising. They would not make changes and replace order.
Green River Chinese Restaurant
First time there. Ordered pork lomein, it was decent, full of flavor and the fact it had broccoli was a plus. My only thing was it was the tenderloin style pork, and I prefer the regular sliced/strip meat. The portion size was very good, enough for at least 2 or 3 meals. Next time I will try the fried rice.
food was ready on time & delicious! Good portion size too! I had spicy Mongolian chicken with fried rice. & Crab Rangoons are on the savory side!
