MingHin Cuisine
Dim Sum dinner fun with friends and family in a cool atmosphere with a variety of food choices to please our whole crowd from tried and true traditional dishes to bold new discoveries. The place was packed but service was quick and our food and drinks were tasty and would definitely go back again for another fun experience.
We arrived on a Sunday night, and we had a 30-minute wait with no reservations. The customer service was good even with a slight language barrier. It's a nice traditional spot with a sprinkle of cute Asian influences throughout the restaurant. I ordered the fried noodles and the pork bun. I wasn't a big fan of the pork bun, but I did enjoy the main dish. The portion size is huge and enough to feed 3. It was full of beef and fresh veggies. It actually tasted better the next day. The flavors didn't really activate until it sat in the fridge for a bit. It was the same situation with my friends' veggie fried rice. It lacked flavor on day 1, but on day 2, it was a winner dish.
Phoenix Restaurant
Phoenix Restaurant in Chinatown, Chicago, came highly recommended by local Chinese residents, and it did not disappoint. The service was top-notch, and the food was exactly what we were craving after a long day of sightseeing. We ordered the Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice, which was perfectly seasoned and satisfying. We also tried the Roasted Duck—though the minimum order is half a duck, it was more than enough for the two of us. While we couldn’t finish it, the quality was exceptional. Phoenix specializes in dim sum, so we couldn’t resist trying the Pan-Fried Shrimp with Corn, and it was absolutely delicious. The authenticity of the restaurant is evident, as you’ll find Chinese families dining here, often celebrating special occasions. The atmosphere adds to the experience, making it a must-visit if you’re looking for genuine Chinese cuisine in Chinatown. Highly recommended!
We ate dinner here while spending the day in Chinatown. They were very accommodating with easy reservation and allowed us inside prior to them reopening during the evening hours. It was my first time ordering dim sum, and appreciated the authenticity of the food (not your typical Chinese restaurant). Servers were great at refilling our water without asking, and you can’t leave the restaurant without all employees showing you appreciation. I will say, as it was our first time ordering dim sum, I wish the staff was more helpful in explaining the process. In terms of atmosphere, it was a little bit dirtier than I would have liked (sticky floors, chipped paint, stains on the chairs). Nonetheless, for the price and quality of the food, I’d recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine.
Hing Kee
Have visited multiple times, love this place for their affordable and delicious soup dumplings. A few times the dumplings break easily at the bottom but for the price, flavor, and quantity, I am overall satisfied with what I got. Some of my favorites other than the soup dumpling are their hand- pulled noodles (have tried ox tail, braised beef, bbq duck, dan dan etc) and spicy salt & pepper calamari. This place is usually very busy with long line, so good idea to be there a bit early to get on the list, before you walk around in Chinatown
The crab soup dumplings and beef xo flat noodles were delicious. And the wait wasn’t too bad. The service was good and we definitely left with full bellies. Yum
Taste of Canton
Excellent E-Fu noodles. BBQ pork fried rice is tasty and not greasy. String beans are fresh and crispy. Chicken noodle soup a bit bland. Portions are appropriate for price. Overall better than average, especially for the price. I'll be back for the E-Fu for sure.
Everytime you find a restaurant with a parking lot is a plus. This restaurant is 1-2 mile west of Chinatown and has a full menu from authentic Chinese food to western fused chinese food (egg foo young). The food is above average, service is attentive, and price is fair. Overall, I recommend this place.
Jiang Niu BBQ House Chinatown
Fantastic spot for authentic Chinese barbecue in Chicago. The flavors are rich, the meat is great, and the variety on the menu is impressive. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. Highly recommend for a great dining experience
We came for our friend's bday. Their option is different than what we are used in Ga. Overall, I like that the meat is more thinly sliced. This place has more veggie options. Loved the smores!
Wing Wah Lau Restaurant
Really great Chinese takeout. Hard to find good Americanized Chinese takeout that’s not super upscale in the Chicago area, but this place hits it right on the head. Huge portions, good food (really good fried rice), and cheap (especially considering the portion sizes).
Great Service and food is delicious! They go above and beyond. I ordered through a delivery app. and some of my order was missing, but the young man who answered the phone said he would deliver the rest of my order and he sure did! Very happy with their service and food. We've been ordering from Wing Wah Lau for over 10 years.
Chi Cafe
This was hard to review. I wanted to like this place, but the fixtures were heavy with dust. The rim of the cups were all chipped, and the plate was cracked. There was what looked like a hair in the crab Rangoon. The sauce for the crab rangoon was off, too, and not what is normally served. The waiter seemed uninterested in taking our order. The food was served warm, not hot. I was told there was no tea. Price was good, tho.
Late night Chinese food spot. Really good food, small wait time but well worth it. Service is great every time we are seated. Everything is made fresh in house. Highly recommend.
Yep Kitchen (AYCE Sushi & Hotpot )源记茶餐厅
Food was decent but customer service was not. The workers are so rude and disrespectful, with no help regarding the menu selection. I came in with a group and ordered two orders of the AYCE sushi which the waitress gave us attitude about. Do not come here if you’re visiting Chicago or even a local to Chinatown! Horrible restaurant hospitality for a new shop that hasn’t even been here for 5+ years.
Dined here twice, both were very good! Service was ok, you order yourself through the ipad and the server much confirm order We ordered egged shrimp, veggie, pork, beef, some drink and braised squab Food portion is kinds small but I will say the food taste very good! Since it is new and obviously recently remodeled, the restaurant is very clean and bright and restroom is clean
1st Chop Suey
Food is very good! Cant go wrong for the price!
I came there Saturday. And I ordered crab ragoon. Add seafood combo with noodles . I went to work Sunday, came home at 3 o'clock. Ate the rest of my seafoo cambo 2 hours later, I was violating and thrown up. I've been doing it ever since I ate there and it's already Thursday. Be careful what you order at this restaurant. The doctor told me it was food poisoning, I got tested
Chop Suey city
Don't let the look Turn you away. The food inside is GOOD. The lunch special has gone down in size but it is plenty of food and I was a little disappointed that it didn't come with shrimp fried rice but I wasn't disappointed. This Very small place with no bathroom no seating area at the moment. Had a great beef and broccoli the fried rice wasn't the best but the size of the chicken inside is safe for children. The gravy is a little thick which I love and the rice was better with the gravy. Didnt come with a pop 😕 but its not advertised to so yay for the gas station across the street. Staff is friendly and I'm sure if I had questions she would have been knowledgeable and nice. Friendly when I had requested on no onions. Big egg roll delicious. Not price gouging. Order under $15 has a 50cent card fee. I was Happy to pay the fee.
Let me tell you…..this place is absolutely delicious and highly recommend. Customer service by Isabella is A++ she was very helpful in answering my question. Good was neatly packed and extremely delicious and warm upon unpacking. Reasonable prices and portion sizes are great. I will becoming a regular now with this hidden gem I stumbled upon. Check out guys you will not be disappointed…again highly recommend
Dolo Restaurant and Bar
Tho the restaurant seems so luxurious, the price is affordable and the food is 5/5. I love it, so sad that I found out this late. Now I will try every time I have enough budget for dim sum. They are so nice as well. Sandy was so nice today. Maybe thanksgiving day, so there are less people. They have 20% discount for weekdays from 2-4pm as well but holidays do not count. The taste feels like back home. Love it. The fried short ribs and chicken feet were superb!!!!!
This place came recommended to me, and it certainly seemed popular, bustling around brunch time. The interior itself is quite ratty, with especially the booth seats completely torn to shreds (see picture) The short ribs I ordered were unfortunately extremely chewy, gristly, and drowned in sweet sauce that really impacted how much flavor of the actual meat came through. Similarly, the turnip cake was sticky and otherwise greasy and flavorless. The desserts were a bit better, with especially the durian-filled pancakes a small highlight. The taro dumplings, too, as nice as they looked, were stone cold and tasted of nothing except old grease. The custard rolls were middling - not very flavorful and very starchy/floury tasting. Overall, a huge disappointment, and I would urge you try any of the other Dim Sum places nearby instead.
MCCB Chicago
Excellent. We went without reservation for lunch and had to wait for 20 minutes. The place is very casual and not that big. We ordered: chicken egg roll, pork dumplings, dry chicken, fried rice and stir fry steak. We loved everything. The only one that we didnt love as much as the other dishes was the dry chicken, very spicy. Everything was prepared fast. Would go back!
Visiting from NYC and it was AMAZING. Portions were great, food came out at a timely manner, staff is polite and attentive. This will be my go to restaurant when I want delicious Chinese food.
