I have been here for three times and it tastes really nice. The grilled fish is highly recommended, and their service is also very nice. Last time we brought our moon cake here to celebrate the mid autumn festival, and they even helped us to cut the cake! Highly recommended

After re-opening at this new location, Easterly has become our new go-to when we've wanted a great meal. Our favorite is always the perilla leaf boiling fish 紫苏水煮鱼 which is super flavorful and comes with big portions. Also, another new item to this location are the scallion pancakes, which are honestly some of the best we've ever had. Dishes can be made not spicy, which is a nice option, and portions are generous—we had enough leftovers for another meal. The place has been busy each time we’ve gone, but the new location is more spacious and easier to find parking than the previous one, which makes for a more comfortable experience overall. Also the staff is super friendly and helpful. I really appreciated their attention to detail when they helped us pack and with the sturdy takeout containers that they provided for our leftovers. I would definitely recommend this place, especially for group outings.

I just really did not like the food here. It didn’t taste fresh and there’s some sort of coating on the food that taste very weird in my mouth. I’m not even sure how to explain it. Also if you’re vegetarian or vegan don’t eat here. Some of my chicken fell into the rice and he just scooped it using the rice scooper and put the same scooper back in. The kungpao and spicy chicken were probably the worst things I’ve eaten in a while and were idk chewy like gamey and not crispy. I’m sad I spent $14 here. This is how much of my food is left. Just not for me at all and now I’m hungry and my tongue feels weird and I need a pallet cleanser. Edit: i've since found out that the ingredient that is not sitting well with my stomach and makes my mouth feel weird and tingly and made everything else also taste worst is the sichuan peppercorns that they use in their seasonings. I tasted it specifically on the spicy chicken. Some other people I was with liked it and others did not. I especially did not as you can tell.

The dishes were authentic Sichuan flavors. The lamb soup, in particular, was exceptionally tender and flavorful. If you’re a fan of spicy food, this place is a must-visit. The staff were both friendly and attentive, ensuring we were well cared for throughout our meal. I’ll definitely be returning to explore more of the menu!

The name is misleading as they serve more dim sum style/soup dumplings rather than pan-fried dumplings. Their food is good, but slightly pricey. My favorite dish/dessert is their jiuniang, which has high protein and high portions. Their soup dumplings were also rather good. The only downside is their stir-fry dishes which were a little too salty. Their menu is quite comprehensive with plenty of options, the staff are responsive, and the ambiance inside is quite nice with a homey feel.

Stumbled upon Dumpling Kitchen while I was in the area. Two of us ordered: kurobuta pork soup dumpling 8 pcs $11.95 beef roll pancakes $7.95 dry braised string beans 13.80 steamed shrimp and pork shumai $11.95 Could definitely go without the shumai. Everything else was decent. Put your name down if there is a line. It was a bit unorganized to get a seat and ordering took some time.

This place deserves its flowers! It’s a great local restaurant, and I feel like I’m eating homemade food in the best way possible. The potstickers were great, and the hot and sour soup stood out too. We’ll be back again and again! Could easily eat here weekly.

One of the best Chinese spots in the East Bay, imo. Food here is excellent for lunch and dinner. Huge portions. Mouth watering tasty…. And the service here is better than most places. Attentive and diligent. We love this spot for outdoor dining at lunchtime and indoor dining at dinner. Either way it’s excellent every time we decide to go here. Highly recommend and will definitely be back. Cheers

They have great Tso's and had the best pork fried rice a year ago, this visit it had less flavor but whatever seed oil they use to fry has good character. I'll be back, maybe it was just a bad batch. And it wasn't bad, just lacking.

It appears to be one of those Chinese restaurants that have been around for a long while, and it has. I ate here previously a few years ago, and it was because of that experience that I decided to have another go. This experience turned out differently because I ordered something other than what I had intended. Because they had Sambal Oelek and soy sauce as condiments, I noticed they had an old favorite on the menu - BBQ Pork with egg over rice. Let's just say that for me, this is a winning combination, and it worked well in this case. Although this dish is common, many places usually don't have sambal oelek, or chili oil, which can liven up any plain dish. Otherwise, this place is a nice, small Chinese restaurant that serves good food.

Decided to try a new spot. This place is good. The guy working was super cool too. Did not go light on the shrimps either (I already ate a bunch before I took the pic lol) didn’t look like there was anywhere to sit so assuming take out only.

I ordered food from this place twice now and both times I basically paid for noodles and rice. Those pics look like the meat and veggies were picked, but this is how they came. Save your money go someplace else.

I was on the line and I saw how small portions of food customers are getting. It's way less comparing to other Panda Express. Server's hand was shaking... to trying to give less food. I walked out. Students are always hungry! Berkeley is college town.

Food is great, and I really like going here for a quick bite. However, they repeatedly advertise themselves as being vegetarian friendly but never have their eggplant tofu dish, their single meatless entree, but never have it available despite it being on the menu. Three times I’ve gone in this week to grab a bite with friends, and simply due to my dietary restrictions, I’ve had to get my own food from elsewhere. Not vegan/vegetarian friendly, especially in a location like Berkeley.

very yummy, especially for the price! the staff were really nice, too, and kept checking in on us.

Not sure why they serve takeout plastic plate when dining in. The noodle is simple and rough lack of ingredients and only a few pieces of beef. worth $5 and charge $17. If you do business like that no one is gonna come in

This is a hidden gem on Durant Ave. The restaurant looks like it's a family-run place that's good for a chill dining-out experience (there's a wait for the food but it's worth it). If you're looking for authentic spicy cuisine from North China, this is a good place to start. There's plenty of space for families and large groups. The restaurant is on the second floor and you'll need to take the stairs past the Korean restaurant. It's not a difficult climb but it also means the place is not wheelchair-friendly. Payment accepted via cash or Venmo.

The food was Amazing!!! Sure it had slightly dim lighting and an interesting atmosphere, but if you want good food, at a good price, being cooked right behind you right after you order, this is the place to go. Service was fast, the chef and assumed owner was nice!

Below-Average Food, Nice Proprietors I feel bad giving a two-star rating as the shop proprietors are quite nice. The food, on the other hand, is quite sad. Ordered the half Hainan Chicken and Tomato Beef Chow Mein. Chicken is really bland. It's pretty much boiled chicken with condiments over it. Noodles are overcooked, lifeless, and soggy. Hope they'll do better on future.

The food is ok. The portion is big at least for me but the food is just average. The service is not so well
