China Wok
I order a season chicken, white rice and extra sauce on the side. The chicken is dry, see the picture, not a drop on the broccoli and they charge a .52 cent service fee. I don’t like it when they charge .10 more for gas why not just raise your price.
The meat is very hard and black as you can see in the photo and it doesn't taste good at all. I don't recommend it here in Tampa, it's difficult to get good Chinese food.
SUPER HOT
Solid choice in Tampa for authentic Sichuan cuisine! As the name states, this food is spicy. And awesome. Do yourself a favor and stay away from the local (read “American style”) and dive in to the real stuff. And I highly suggest you eat family style with whomever you go with, as all Chinese should be eaten. Start your meal off with the Minced Beef soup (Westlake beef), order a few skewers to snack on (beef, lamb, shrimp, and chicken). Recommendations for your first meal: Get the authentic and spicy kung pao chicken (Chengdu style), the deep fried chili chicken (Chongqing, la Zi Ji) order the twice cooked pork belly (Hui Gua Rou), then grab either the hot and spicy fish or the sliced beef in chili oil. For vegetables, must order the Szechuan green beans and the sour shredded cabbage. Enjoy your meal. If you’re by yourself I’d highly recommend you go with the Mala mixed pot.
Super Hot’s food was Super good! I am a huge fan of trying Chinese in different locations. This spot is right in the mix of everything at Amberly. Follow your nose. The smell will lead you through the door. Or you can use a map. We tried the House fried rice (5/5), The Mongolian Beef (3/5), and the Beef and Broccoli (5/5). I would recommend this location to anyone looking for delicious food. The meals were super flavorful. My daughter attempted to eat with Chop Sticks for the first time! She is still learning 😆 I can’t wait to explore the menu!
Secret Garden
Great, healthy, fresh food! I was in the mood for a salad and was so glad to have found this place! You build your own plate at a fresh salad bar and then pay by weight. The owner is cool and friendly, we had a pleasant conversation while I assembled my plate. I’ll definitely be back!
Great little hidden gem in Downtown Tampa. Excellent service, fresh ingredients, price point hits and very clean establishment. Owner was very kind and helpful. The negative reviews are just as silly as the people writing them. Don’t let it dissuade or discourage you from visiting this salad bar. Will be back very soon! Z
D&D Delights Sandwiches
They're amazing. I've been going there since I was young. They're like another family to me. I wish I could get out there more than I do. I will always love them dearly.
I’ve been going here for 21 years now. Not only is this one of the best Cuban sandwiches in Tampa, but everything they make is just amazing. Most of the time I get the bacon egg and cheese on Cuban, it’s definitely my favorite. When you open the door it’s smiles and greetings, you’ll feel Like part of the family. If you’re in the area you have to go, you’ll be missing out on the best Tampa has to offer if you don’t.
Pho 813
I saw Pho 813 pop up and thought I give it a try. It has a nice decor outside and plenty of parking spaces. It also has a nice patio outside so you can enjoy your meal outdoors. When I first walk into the restaurant, the place is well light and looks very clean. However, not one employee was Vietnamese and there were no Vietnamese customer. Based on that, I knew what to expect. Given that it was very early, it wasn’t to crowded. I was seated quickly and was well taken care of quickly. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue as that is the dish I try in every new place I go. The meal came out very quickly. Unfortunately I will say that it was not as hot as it should be. The condiments was not correct for the soup as it was for pho soup. The broth wasn’t bad. But the food is catered to Americans and younger generations. I know my American wife would like it. For me, it was not authentic Vietnamese food and the soup lacked so many ingredients that should be in a Bun Bo hue. I would recommend this place for the new younger generation or American folk. However, i am sorry to say I would not look to this place if you want real authentic Vietnamese food.
The duck soup was AMAZING. If you ever get bored with pho, try this place and get the duck soup. Tasting pho for the first time was life changing for me. Tasting this duck variation was more so. I have never had so many new flavors in a single dish. Excellent service and the best soup I have ever had. Will be coming back!
The Cheesecake Factory
Food was excellent all around, Service was very poor. The 4 of us were at the table for almost 2 hours, It was not busy. First time visit, Only one person at our table got drink refills the whole visit despite 3 empty glasses. Very long times between drinks/bread, apps and then the longest time waiting for the dinner. Definitely seemed like the server forgot to send the order back. Same with the cheesecake, almost 25 minutes for one slice... Again, it wasn't busy. And to top it all off, they left the paper on the cheesecake slice and covered it up with Whipped cream....
My first visit time to this Cheesecake Factory was fantastic! The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous—super pretty and impeccably clean. The atmosphere felt upscale yet welcoming, and the attention to detail in the decor really made the experience special. The food was delicious, and the variety on the menu made it easy to find something for everyone. Overall, a wonderful dining experience. I’ll definitely be back soon!
WeVegan Cafe
I ordered through this company for Valentine's Day, and boy was it a lesson learned. You would think that a company selling freshly baked perishable food items to be shipped through UPS across the country would use the 2 day delivery, but this seller used ground shipping. Mind you, UPS offers merchants shipping discounts for using them. After several days of no response from the seller through email, I reached out to UPS. I spent over an hour on the phone trying to get them to expedite my package, explaining that it was supposed to arrive on Valentine's Day or at the latest the 15th as it was full of perishable food items. They apologized for the shipping issues and then explained that the merchant used UPS ground (the 3-5 business day shipping option), but ended up helping me sort it out the best they could. When the items arrived a few were slightly banged up, but the mini cake came damaged. My impression of what kind of care was taken into consideration for packing these items was that it was a complete afterthought. It was just saran wrap, then wrapped in a layer of tissue paper, stuck in a shallow mailer, more tissue paper shoved in and hoped for the best? My partner and I tried the brownie (one of the few items that was banged up), which looked nothing like the photos and was very dry. We then tried the strawberry cookie, which was still moist, but tasted straight out of a box cake mix. It has that Betty Crocker/Pillsbury artificial strawberry flavor, and I've made something EXACTLY like it before. My partner unfortunately didn't like it. Had I known I was going to receive items that looked and tasted like something from a school bake sale (or that I could have made at home for less than $2), I wouldn't have paid so much money for it. Additionally the paper that accompanied the package explaining ingredients didn't even include most of the items I got, looks like a generic list of their classic items. I'm so disappointed because I wanted to support a locally owned vegan company from somewhere my partner and I never had before, and I feel like I was burned. Next time I'll stick to my local vegan spots..
This is the bast vegan breakfast in Tampa! The service is excellent, the coffee is top notch and the vegan desert selection is impressive! I drive all the way from northdale just to get breakfast for me and my family. Thank you, WE VEGAN for being so dope!!!
Sage Sushi Lounge
Miso soup is a bit water down and lack of tofu/seaweed. The hamachi carpaccio is delicious. The sauce isn’t too sour or overwhelming. The fish is thickly cut and not fishy at all. The tonkotsu ramen is alright. The soup needs some more pork flavoring. The ramen consistency is good and soft. The pork chasu is tender, chewy, and crispy, but a little dry. The egg with the tonkotsu is perfectly soft in the middle and melts in your mouth. For sushi, we ordered salmon/ yellowtail/ scallops nigiri and lemon/ raw-volution/ Tokyo roll. The nigiri fishes aren’t fishy and the pieces for thickly cut. Our favorite roll is Tokyo roll, which is crunchy on the outside and flavorful eel sauce really brings out the tuna and cream cheese. Overall, the sushi is good, but the rice is a bit old and on the drier side. Sage Sushi Lounge has alright food, but the decoration is very cute. The price is a bit high, but the thick cut fish is worth it. The best sushi place I have so far around Apollo Beach/Ruskin area. IG: BEEFYFOODIE
Sage has always been a pleasant experience every time I've visited. I like all the options and the food is always fresh and delicious and the staff are very friendly. It'd be nice to hear some music, like Asian inspired lo-fi or something in the restaurant because it's usually so quiet but other that I love this place.
Mr. & Mrs. Crab - Gandy
We are visiting the area, and we were looking for a casual place for some good seafood. A quick search led me here, and I'm so glad it did!! It's such a cute little place, the service was great, our food came out fast and everything was wonderful!! My husband had the catfish bites, and he said they were really good. I had the create your own seafood boil-1/2lb.- Shrimp (no head)- garlic butter - medium heat - with corn added, and it was delicious!! The flavor and amount of heat were perfect! We hope to make it back again before we leave the area!!
Our first visit won’t be our last! We ordered calamari, lobster bisque, salad and the basic boil. All were excellent and more than enough food for 2 of us. The salad was huge, big portion of soup and the boil was a lot of food. This rivals our favorite seafood boil spot on Tybee Island.
Taste of Boston
Super chill place for seafood. It's Boston style food, in Tampa, playing reggae. It works. We started with the hush puppies which were big. Order of 8 was perfect for the 4 of us. It comes with honey if you want sweet, or some other type of savory sauce. Very good, not greasy. Food was good. Portions are hearty and the quality of the fresh stuff is great. I had the grouper fish tacos. So much grouper in them. Also had the cold lobster roll and it was pretty packed with meat. Kids got fish n chips and chicken tenders. Both were fine for them lots of fries for sides, and they are those good fries that don't get soggy and maintain a bit of a bite throughout the meal. Kids meals came with an ice cream cup, and they lived that. Place is quaint, on the water, reasonably priced for seafood, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend.
We visit ballast point often and finally tried this place out, it’s been a must at each visit since. Their fish and chips are mine and my husbands favorite and each one of their soups are equally delicious! We just recently tried their ice which did not disappoint!! There’s free parking and designated restaurant parking, great views of Tampa, and a nice dock to walk down before or after your meal. We can’t wait to come back!
Fred's Market Restaurant
If you’re craving authentic Southern flavors made with love, Fred’s Marketplace is the place to be! From the moment I took my first bite, I knew this was the real deal. The **fried chicken** was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside—just like grandma used to make. The **collard greens** had that rich, smoky depth, and the **black-eyed peas** were seasoned to perfection. I also couldn’t get enough of the **rutabaga**, a deliciously underrated Southern staple that Fred’s prepares beautifully. The **mashed potatoes and brown gravy** were creamy, comforting, and downright addictive, while the **catfish** was crispy, flaky, and seasoned just right. And let’s not forget the **sweet tea**—properly brewed, perfectly sweet, and the ideal companion to this hearty meal. Every dish tasted like it was made with care, tradition, and a whole lot of flavor. Fred’s Marketplace doesn’t just serve food—they serve *Southern hospitality on a plate*. If you want a true taste of home cooking, this is your spot. I’ll definitely be back for more!
I'm mostly vegetarian, they have on the menue a vegetarian plate. ALL the hot and cold vegetables you want, vegetarian soup, breads and deserts. Loved it. They had good salad bar with Romain lettuce or spring mix, green pepper, onion, chicken peas, black olives, beets, cucumbers, tomatos, Italian mushroom salad, potato salad, carrots salad, broccli salad apple salad, fresh cut fruit. Hot green beans, okra, sweet potatoes mashed and whole baked, corn casserole, green fried tomatos, black beans, blackeyed beans, rutabaga. My husband is NOT a vegetarian he got all you can eat. They had baked trout, fried chicken, Italian sausage link's. Turkey soup,
El Rico Frappé Latino
The waitress Diane with the blonde hair did not provide good service. We had to go to the bar to get more drinks and on top of that they charge us $30 tip even though she didn't gave service at all Also my husband steak was not cooked at all. I asked for her name right in front on the owner. So this just happened. And if you want i can load the receipt. We spend over 200 on food today and she was HORRIBLE!!!!@ We did not request expedite service. We arrived there and the previous waitress was very polite. She had us sitting inside and told us that ones a table was available she will move us outside. We place the order inside. Then we were move outside. We asked for some appetizer prior our meal and one of them didn't arrived after waiting close to and hour so I asked about it and said if the appetizer was coming with the food I didn't want it. And guess was it cam with the food. She NEVER CAME BLACK to see how our food was or if we needed more beverages ones again she was awful and she was not worth $30 ************************** As a business owner you really need to have you employee taken responsibility for their actions. The biggest issue was the waitress, we didn't complain about the bill we are complaining about the service we didn't have. A waitress that didn't do anything except taking our orders and never checked on us. Obviously she is not a very good server because every bad review about service is because of her. So unfortunately we will not be coming back. I usually tip 20% but giving a tip to a rude person that didn't NOT SERV US is outrageous. No idea why this individual is a waitress because everyone has problems with her!!!!!
I tried the Dubai chocolate Strawberry cup and I honestly didn’t like it. The chocolate sauce tasted poor quality, I was really looking forward to pistachio flavor sauce but it didn’t taste like real pistachio at all. Also they do not put the pistachio crumbs like the picture. So just $15 for a cup of strawberries and chocolate sauce with crispy dough on it.
