First time picking up from here and it did not disappoint! I got the house fried rice, beef lo mein, chicken wings, ribs and egg rolls and it was all so delicious! The food was very fresh and the portions were generous. But even better than all the yummy food was the exceptional service. The owner was so helpful with placing my order, he made sure I got the best deal and he even helped me carry the food to my car, even with having a packed restaurant. All of these small personal details really make a business stand out. We will definitely be ordering from here again! Thanks again!

We have been here before and it was just Ok but I read that there was a new owner and decided to try it again. vast improvement . Dave , the owner is from NY. I tried the Shrimp in spicy garlic sauce. Shrimp with mushrooms, red pepper, broccoli, and onions in a flavorful brown sauce with a little spiciness. Comes with a choice of soup : Egg Drop, Hot & Sour, Mixed, or Wonton, and choice of rice choices: Brown, Fried, or White, and Egg Roll . Very good. My wife opted for the Egg Foo Young with vegetables, basically a Chinese omelet, comes with a sauce. No sides.

I love the dumplings here, and I always come here because of them. This time we decided to take a chance and try the orange chicken, and I can say that I wouldn't recommend it, the chicken isn't tasty and the sauce doesn't have much orange flavor, but the dumplings are incredible and super tasty! The service is super fast and the food is prepared on time.

This place is too far from my house. I was beyond excited to try it. I did not like the way that I was unsure about how to be seated. I am so confused about how to order. In a few minutes, the cashier came to take my order. She was friendly. Food came out by robot. The Shanghai green was OK, and wonton noodle soup was salty. Dim sum was bland. Wonton in chili oil tastes good. Chow fun was terrible. The noodles were very dry and hard. Overall 5/10. There is a food smell on my body. I don't like it. The food is quite expensive if compared to the quality. I had high expectations for this restaurant because I saw on Tik Tok. When I was there, I was disappointed.

This Chinese restaurant is a great find! Easy parking, not as busy as other spots, and the service is super fast. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is inviting, and everything is clean and well-maintained. Perfect for a quick and delicious meal!

What was most impressive was the freshness of the ingredients. The veggies on each dish were crispy, not overcooked or becoming soggy or soft, maintaining optimal texture and freshness. The flavors are always fresh and make me very happy every time I order.!!!!

I absolutely do not recommend this place. I ordered chicken with vegetables, and what they served was definitely not chicken. I mentioned it to the manager, and he insisted it was chicken. I know chicken, and this was some kind of paste with a texture similar to chicken, but it was far from the real thing. When I asked for teriyaki sauce, they said they didn’t have any—surprising for a Chinese restaurant. I also ate at the restaurant and was given small, flimsy plastic utensils that were barely 3 inches long, more suited for kids than adults. Overall, a disappointing experience. Avoid this place if you’re looking for real food and a decent dining setup.

Finally got here after living near this location for years and years. We were pleasantly surprised! The Pepper Steak was super tasty and the sauce was very savory. The Beef with Mushrooms and Pea-pods was very fresh and savory too! The Sweet and Sour Chicken was nicely breaded and not heavy on the oil either. And I just love the red sweet & sour sauce with the pineapples peppers and onions in it! For a family of 4 we only bought 3 Small size dishes and it fed all of us perfectly. They also gave us a large size of white rice too! We are looking forward to doing take out again here very soon. And our very grateful for the quality Chinese food! Thanks Gary Woo of West Boca 🙏🏼 6/18/22 Update Just had take out here again! And once again we were very happy with the overall taste and quality! My only complaint is the price as risen quite a lot and to feed 4 adults and 2 kids it cost $75…. So if your looking for a cheaper route, get smaller portions, and skip the apps. Oh and if your a Veggie Lo Main fan you’ll love it here! It’s amazing!! Other then that food is still great here and we still recommend!

Not one good dish. Expensive, incredibly salty almost inedible and just plain poor. Not the hot and sour soup, lettuce cups, moo shu, or fried rice. Was awful 2 years ago and just tried again, really sorry we did.

For solid Chinese takeout mixed with a few authentic Cantonese dishes this place is great. Low ratings from Boca blue hairs. Ignore and enjoy!

Just tried this place out last night. The food was so delicious I ordered again tonight. Great value for the quality and portions of food they give you. I will definitely be going back here every week! Tonight was beef with asparagus. Delicious!!! I highly recommend 818 Shanghai!

Formerly known as Shanghai City, this restaurant has been a staple in the plaza since the late 1980s. While the name has changed, the interior remains almost identical, and unfortunately, it’s showing its age. The space could use a renovation and deep cleaning—there are noticeable stains on the walls, sticky tiles, and the menus are still the original Shanghai City ones, complete with worn-out, decades-old holders. First impressions aren’t great. The “new” aspect of 818 Shanghai seems to be the addition of a dim sum menu and some new Cantonese dishes. However, the main menu remains unchanged and still features American Chinese classics under the old Shanghai City branding. The staff is new, but the transition feels incomplete. We ordered exclusively from the dim sum menu, which is currently being reprinted, but take note: the English translations don’t always match the Chinese descriptions, so double-check your order. The others in my party—Ming, James, and Rachel—enjoyed the food more than I did. While I didn’t dine here under the previous ownership for comparison, I found the dishes underseasoned and lacking flavor. It felt like the kitchen is holding back on seasoning, possibly omitting MSG to cater to local preferences. This blandness mirrored my experience at 818 Asian Fusion (another spot under the same ownership), leaving me underwhelmed overall. Our group avoided most seafood dishes since James doesn’t eat shrimp, so I can’t comment on their seafood mains. We did try the beef chow fun, which came recommended by Ming’s Chinese friend. While the ingredients were fresh—the bean sprouts crisp and the beef perfectly tenderized—it lacked the depth of flavor I expect from this dish. The pork fried rice was similarly well-executed in texture and preparation but equally bland. I might return in a few months to sample the seafood mains and see if the kitchen has found its stride, but for now, I’m hoping they address the cleanliness and overall presentation. The restaurant needs a serious refresh to shake off the lingering reputation of “Shanghai Sh***y” from its previous iteration.

Interior is not the nicest, but the friendliness and efficient staff along with the delicious NYC Chinatown style food makes up for the decor. The portions are a nice size too. Worth a try. We will return.

Service was extraordinary, prompt and really friendly staff. It was a really enjoyable atmosphere and superb food, the wonton soup was really tasty and both the pepper steak and the beef with Chinese vegetables were very nicely done. Also, the price was extremely reasonable for the amount of food and quality. Would 100% recommend it for a quick lunch or dinner.

This restaurant is absolutely fantastic! The food is fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. I especially loved the dish you enjoyed, which was bursting with delicious flavors. The service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and professional. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it a great spot for both casual meals and special occasions. On top of that, the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great dining experience!

Something recently changed here, I’m not sure if it’s a new owner or a new chef. The food now is amazing! So fresh and delicious, you can tell who ever is making it loves what they do. I recently ordered the Singapore noodles and on a separate occasion the beef Lo main. They both had a lot of flavor, a generous portion and what I like the most is the new touch of greens and vegetables to the dish, looks like some type of exotic greens. Everything tasted so fresh…. I don’t mind waiting 15, 20, 30 minutes knowing everything is cooked to order. The prices were reasonable for what I had . The lady at the front is so sweet, and gives great customer service. I will definitely order again. 100% recommend. 🤤

They never have chopsticks, and if you ask for a bag, the cashier won't bag your food for you; they just hand you a bag. They don't even hold the bag open to help you bag your food, and if you ask them for help, they either just stand there not helping.

This place is great. Fresh, made to order, and tastes great!! I'm impressed especially by the dim sum. It's got little chestnut pieces to enhance the texture. Did they make this themselves from scratch?? Pretty much all their food tastes like they did. Step above all the other places that just uses frozen food.

The food was disgusting. The ribs were cold and chewy. They tasted ‘old’. The rice was unlike any Chinese fried rice I had ever had- bland and yellow. I ordered two egg rolls. I took one bite and bit into something tough & chewy and it wouldn’t break down. I spit it out and just threw my food away. I literally ate 5 bites of all the food and just tossed it. The person was nice but the restaurant and lobby was just old, junky and unappetizing. I wouldn’t recommend it - at all.

I’ve only eaten food from House of Cheung a few times, but generally everyone who goes here and works here understands what this place is about. It’s kept fairly clean and you should expect the food to come out in 10 minutes or less. Reasonably priced fast Chinese food that is a good bang for your buck is the main draw of this place. It’s not the most exquisite and flavorful, but it doesn’t taste bad either and it filled me up just as I needed. Just don’t come expecting the best atmosphere or best play to sit. Excellent spot for take out for sure.

I ordered for the first time from this place at work last night. I ordered small french frieswhich is $5 on their menu and plain fried rice priced at 8.50. that's a total of $13.50 plus the delivery fee. They charged me 20.30 when they heard I worked on A1A in Boca. Guess I paid the Chinese tariffs lol. Food wasn't even good. Fries were cooked in old dirty oil. NEVER AGAIN!!
