China Garden
A yo let me tell your something righ, I’ve been through many parts of America and have tried boneless spare ribs and this is the best spot to go to, Ya heard! Truck drivers bring your tractor for there’s spots out here to park at night to cop and go
We got: shrimp egg roll, crab rangoons, hot&sour soup, beef & broccoli, shrimp in garlic sauce, moo goo gai pan, shrimp lo mien, and general Tso’s chicken. It was all way WAY too sweet and otherwise flavorless. They used way too much cornstarch to thicken all the sauces; everything felt “goopy” The crab Rangoons were sweet enough to be desserts. The hot&sour soup was neither hot nor sour; it was cool&bland. My two teenage sons tried the beef & broccoli and said it wasn’t very good. Then they wouldn’t eat the shrimp&garlic sauce at all! We ate the moo goo gai pan, which was exactly as bland as it was supposed to be. That’s the dish hot sauce was made for. I ate the shrimp egg rolls, which were also bland but I wasn’t expecting much flavor to begin with. Everyone ate the General Tso’s chicken, but it too sweet and simultaneously bland. The place was clean and the service was pleasant
Lion City Chinese Restaurant
Worst Chinese I've ever had. Giving it an extra star since the service was good. Seriously BAD FOOD. The eggrolls are bland; it's like they have one ingredient in them. The crab rangoons- I had to throw them out after one bite! They were....grainy and slimey... like they were made with tiny bits of dry cottage cheese. The general tso should be a safe bet but no. The sauce is plainly okay (though it is very thick and gooey and they give you far too much of it) but the chicken they use has a thick, rubbery layer of bread and the chicken itself is sparce and dry. Definitely avoid this place.
Lion City has been there for many years - and offers a unique homemade sauce on their BBQ ribs. They offer standard Chinese food.. See photos. I think they make the best wonton soup around. The staff that works there is very pleasant, and Ming the owner will go out of his way to make you happy. Food is good.
Singo Sushi
For years I’ve heard rave reviews about Singo, so my mother-in-law, husband, and I stopped in for dinner tonight. While it’s exceptionally cold outside at the moment, I don’t think there was any heat on at all - it was freezing in the restaurant! Sat down and my chair cushion popped off of the seat and had to swap it out. Server was nice and food arrived quickly, we were in and out in an hour. However, we found everything to be extremely average. They’re known for their baked rolls, and I’m still left wondering exactly what that means. I had the chicken teriyaki roll, which was mostly filled with cucumber, and the sushi pieces were so huge that it was difficult to eat. I also ordered the steak teriyaki, and I’ve never received it like this before. The teriyaki sauce was non-existent, and it had very thin slices of beef that were mostly fat. Definitely was not worth the $23. My husband said his hot night 2 roll was overly drowned in sauce and had too much rice, and his salmon was sliced so thin that you could actually see the wasabi underneath - at all of the places we’ve been to, we’ve never seen that before. My mother in law was fine with the tuna tartare. We’re really left wondering what all of the hype is about.
Been coming here for years. Some of the best sushi in CT! Always fresh and delicious. It's byob and there's a small package store next door.
Thai Palace
I have not had the chance to dine in, but I do know the chicken skewers are fantastic and the Thai Iced Tea here is next to no other! My daughter and I get Thai iced teas often. This place has a deceiving parking lot but cozy feeling/decor inside. Can't wait to try more.
This was a random spot that the hubby and I wanted to go a few years, and today we were finally able to try it. It was laid back atmosphere, very comfy with tradition asian artwork around the restaurant. We ordered the steam dumplings (chicken and shrimp), extra spicy chicken pad thai, and chicken pad see ew. Everything was delicious, cooked to perfection. This restaurant was worth the wait.
El Buen Chapin Restaurant
Our party of two stopped in this quaint restaurant for dinner. We got the chips and guac (the best and freshest I’ve ever had -look at the color!) and split 2 birria tacos-the meats was so juicy and tender! They were just fabulous and the consume that accompanied it was so good I wanted to drink what was left. I had horchata for the first time which was wonderful-rice milk with almond and cinnamon. We capped off dinner with a shared lava cake which was rich and fudgey and a hot chocolate. I asked about the eloto hot beverage (made with corn!) and it was very tasty but not something I might order again. Will be back again for the grey, friendly service and fresh perfectly flavored and cooked food.
The best Pupusas in all Connecticut!!! Excellent Latin music and hospitality ❤️
Pho & Spice
I had an amazing dining experience! The food was absolutely delectable, bursting with authentic flavors. The service was friendly and attentive, and the place was impeccably clean. I loved the generous portions, all at a reasonable price. The atmosphere was inviting, making it a perfect spot to unwind. I can't wait to return for another fantastic meal!
Never had pho and it was DELICIOUS. So packed with flavor. All kinds of sauces and toppings available to add on. Coconut shrimp was delicious. Curry appetizer was delicious. Service was excellent. Definitely would recommend and Definitely would go back.
Toro Sushi
This is hands down the best sushi I have ever had. NOTHING compares to the quality, flavors and artistry that goes into these rolls!!! You need to try their sushi specifically from the specials wall. Their "regular menu" rolls are also incredible! Their rolls are unique and there literally isn't a bad one on there! They put alot of effort creating unique rolls and they are absolutely fantastic. Been going for years and will always be a loyal customer!! The owner Tony and his family have always remembered us and make every visit so wonderful. We even will ask for "surprise me" rolls when we just can't decide what to get, and he knocks it out of the park every time! We love you guys!!!! Take out is super easy, they are very fast! Usually your order will be done within 20 mins of your call. You can also get a large variety of sake and japanese beers to bring home. Dine in is very nice! The atmosphere is calm and your server is very attentive! We always get seated then walk up to the specials wall in the main room, choose what to get and order a few minutes later. Hot sake for the table. It's very nice. Their Kani salad is wonderful for an appetizer. Our favorite rolls are the cool roll, new years eve roll, wasabi rolls, amazing roll, samurai roll and Sako rolls.
i have been going here for years and i can guarantee it is THE best sushi place ever! the people here are so kind and friendly and the food is perfect as always. i love going here with my family. toro never fails to impress. 💗
Moringa Indian Restaurant
FINALLY - a GREAT place to experience a variety of Authentic Indian food. We came for dinner and when I tell you, from the START, their appetizers were AMAZING. Their friendly staff extremely accommodating from BEGINNING to END. Only thing I would wish, is this place was bigger. Other than that, the Food is beyond flavorful and captures the essence of Indian excellence. Pictures do no justice as your taste buds would be highly pleased!
Highly recommend! Attentive staff and incredibly helpful! They were honest about recommendations and heat levels. We ordered the Chicken stuffed naan, Chicken lollipop, Samosa, Shrimp curry, Garlic naan, and Chicken tikka masala (all medium heat which was the perfect level for me). Everything was delicious! I could tell each dish was specially prepared and fresh (not something premade ahead of time) and it was filling! This is definitely going to be a regular place for us to patron! We have been eagerly awaiting the opening of a good Indian restaurant and we were blown away! Very excited to go back and try more dishes
Uncle Jack Thai Restaurant
My new favorite Thai food in the entire state! We have eaten here at least 50 times, and we will continue going back. This is one of our favorite BYOB spots, and not just because of the BYOB. I've tried at least 25-30 different Thai restaurants, throughout New York and Connecticut, in my entire life. I've even photographed Thai food menus back when I used to be a commercial stock photographer. So, you could say I'm kind of a Thai foodie / snob / enthusiast! Uncle Jack and his wife Nina never fail to disappoint. Their service is exceptional, the food is delicious and consistent. It would be hard to even have one complaint about their hard work. The parking is a short walk from either the lot in Dean's Stove, the bike trail parking, or the Lion's Den public lot. My favorite dishes here are the curry noodles, the duck noodle soup, and of course, the Drunken noodle. You cannot go wrong with anything else on the menu. The appetizers are also fairly priced, and super tasty.
Awesome experience every time we go! Small family owned business. Prices are very fair for todays standards and it's BYOB! Ordered the drunken noodle and ginger dish this time. Fresh ingredients: shiatke mushrooms, cabbage and fresh ginger just to name a few.
Blackie's Hot Dog Stand
Very cool old school no frills tasty hot dogs and cheeseburgers! Driving through Connecticut. Stopped and checked out Blackie’s. They make their own relish. You dress up the hot dog and cheeseburger how you would like. You have a choice of homemade relish, spicy ground mustard, and ketchup. They are not open on Fridays. No meat allowed on Fridays!
Blackie’s Hot Stand offers a delightful taste of classic American fare with their delicious burgers and hot dogs. During my recent visit, I enjoyed a perfectly grilled burger and a savory hot dog that hit the spot. The standout feature, however, was their exceptional relish—a perfect blend of sweetness and tanginess that elevated the flavors of both dishes. I couldn’t resist taking home a jar of their relish to enjoy later. The atmosphere at Blackie’s is casual and welcoming, making it a great spot for a quick and satisfying meal. If you appreciate quality comfort food and flavorful condiments, Blackie’s Hot Stand is definitely worth a visit.
Townline Pizza
I was currently buying lunch for my staff here at least once a week spending close to $200 every transaction. Today I had placed a small order and they had served me freezer burnt/ under cooked wings. I ended up talking to the "owner" as she claimed and when I addressed my concerns regarding the food I had received she told me I have many other options and I chose them, so I get what I get.. Also that I am being "disrespectful" towards her because I had an issue with my food... When I brought back the wings and pointed out the problem she told me that chicken skin should be as white as a piece of paper when cooked (I was a butcher for 10 years... not true...) and then she laughed in my face when I showed her that the chicken wasn't even fully cooked and raw in the middle. She then told me to come back into their kitchen so that she could prove they don't freeze their chicken. Im pretty sure that's a health code violation since I didn't have to wash my hands or clean up in any way.. she just invited me back there off the street.. Do not get food here.. You WILL get sick. Wings covered in sauce should not have visible white spots on "non-frozen" products.
Love this pizza it actually taste better putting it in the oven for 5 or 6 minutes on Bake 385° and don't forget the cup of marinara sauce to dip the pizza in it's the best pizza in whole Waterbury or Cheshire 👌
Koon Thai Restaurant
There wasn't a wait when I walked in and service was beyond quicker that I expected. The coconut shrimp appetizer was absolutely delicious and the main course of Pad Thai I had was very filling. You can share a main course with someone which is what I did and still have leftovers. The food is very delicious and very affordable compared to other Asian eateries that I was nearby.
Food was delicious and the staff very polite and welcoming. Food came out quick and flavorful. Can't wait to be back in New Haven to stop in for a bite!
