Despite some potentially negative reviews not provided here, several customers have expressed high satisfaction with New China Wok. Many commend the restaurant for its reasonable prices and the generous quantity of food provided, particularly highlighting the lunch specials as a great value. One customer mentioned that a $40-$50 order could easily feed a family of four with leftovers. It's suggested that higher price complaints might stem from using third-party delivery apps that add extra fees.
A key feature of New China Wok, according to reviewers, is the quality of their cooking style. Compared to other Chinese restaurants in the vicinity, their dishes are described as being less salty, not overly sweet, and not oily. For those who enjoy spicy food, the restaurant reportedly does an excellent job of making dishes extra spicy upon request.
While one customer noted that many dishes have a similar underlying flavor with different vegetables, the overall consensus points to New China Wok being considered the "Best Chinese in the area" by some, even when compared to sit-down restaurants. The quality is so appreciated that one customer considered hiring them for catering, despite the takeout-only nature of the business.
Recommended dishes from satisfied customers include the fried dumplings, hot and sour soup, and beef with scallions. Another reviewer specifically praised the Kung Pao Chicken for being savory and spicy with tender chicken and crunchy peanuts, the Moo Shu Pork with tender pork, crisp veggies, and delicate pancakes, and the fried pork dumplings for being crunchy and juicy. This customer described their takeout experience as an "absolute delight" with generous portions that arrived hot and fresh, solidifying New China Wok as their preferred choice for Chinese takeout.
Currently, no specific information regarding the restaurant's ambiance (given it's primarily takeout), additional services beyond takeout and potential delivery, or any ongoing promotional offers is available in the provided reviews. Local users seeking high-quality and reasonably priced Chinese takeout in Closter are highly encouraged to try New China Wok based on the positive feedback regarding their food and value.

Felt compelled to write a review after seeing all the negative ones. First off, the price is very reasonable for the amount of food you get. The lunch special is a great value. $40-$50 easily feeds a family of four with leftovers. The high price complaints are likely due to people ordering through a delivery app which then tacks on extra fees to pay for their cut. Compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area, this one is less salty, not overly sweet and not oily. If asked for, they also do an excellent job at making dishes extra spicy. The only minor complaint is that a lot of the dishes are pretty similar. Flavor is similar but the vegetables are different. Best Chinese in the area, tried out a ton of sit down restaurants trying to find one for a family members 90th birthday - it's unfortunate this one is takeout only. We were considering renting out a hall so we could have them cater it. Outside of NYC, I find this place to be the best. Recommended dishes: fried dumplings, hot and sour soup, beef with scallions.
I recently ordered Chinese takeout from this place, and it was an absolute delight! The Kung Pao Chicken was savory and spicy, with tender chicken, crunchy peanuts, and a flavorful sauce. The Moo Shu Pork was a standout, with tender strips of pork, crisp veggies, and delicate pancakes that allowed me to create delicious wraps. The Fried pork Dumplings were crunchy and juicy, filled with a savory mix that was simply irresistible. The portions were generous, and everything arrived hot and fresh. The combination of these three dishes showcased the chef's skill and the restaurant's commitment to delivering high-quality Chinese cuisine. This will undoubtedly be my go-to spot for a flavorful and satisfying takeout experience!
Food was tastier than other back alley Chinese takeout and 🥠was more crispier
Do not recommend. My family and I picked up food fresh and my kids were unable to even bite through the chicken we ordered, the egg rolls weren’t even chewable, and the dumplings we ordered were NOT good. The looks are just as bad as the taste.
I have been a fan of new China Wok for many years. However, the last four times I have ordered. I have been disappointing. The garlic sauce is way too spicy and hot. The ribs were burnt and chewy. The Mushu pork was tasteless. Overall I feel the chef has changed, it is not the same food I used to get for sure. I hope they correct this situation. Disappointing.
