Hot Wok Cafe
Tasty food. Great tofu, better if not so much cabbage in it. Shrimp is excellent and so is the eggplant
I hope we have well passed the times when people wince when I mention a restaurant in a shopping center/ strip mall. When you decide to go to Hot Wok the first thing I want you to know is that all the staff is super friendly. Everyone will talk to you and make you feel truly welcome. As for the food, my wife and I started off with gyoza. It was perfectly fried as they had a nice crunch. My wife had the egg drop soup and I had the hot and sour. Both soups had great flavor but I preferred the hot soup. As for our meals my wife went with the cashew chicken lunch special. This dish had a truly great flavor. The contrasting textures added a great dimension. I went with the fried pork chop in Peking sauce. I am truly a fan of pork chops, especially fried. They were perfectly fried, they were tender and with the sauce a little messy but we’ll work it. I can’t wait until my wife and I can go back to try something else.
Panda Express
We ordered a very large order during the dinner rush. They were prompt getting it ready. A young man put everything on a cart and helped us get it into our van. As we were driving away, he flagged us down because an item had been missed. He went above and beyond! I wish we had caught his name. He was wearing a black button down jersey with the #24 on it. Thank you sooo much!
Had the Spicy Orange Chicken. It was a fun twist on an old favorite. The store was clean, bathrooms were clean, staff were pleasant and courteous.
Pick Up Stix Fresh Asian Flavors
This Pick Up Stix has the nicest, most professional staff of any location I’ve ever been to. From helping me with app issues to stopping by my family’s dining table to check on us I was beyond impressed! Great job and thank you!
These people are out of their minds having the a.c.on or just too cheap to have on the heater..people want a nice cozy place to enjoy their meals. It's the middle of winter probably 50 degrees outside and even colder inside of this place. And the portions are small for the price...not a good experience. Not to mention the food is mediocre. The rice is hard and cold.
Panda Express
I was kind of surprised because I've purchased Panda Express from this location maybe a month or two ago and it wasn't bad at all it was actually good. This time it just tasted like it had been sitting even if I eat like leftovers or anything like that it has flavor this really seemed bland. It really made me think about writing a review becauseI was kind of shocked at like the change in quality just from a month or two ago.
Shrinkflation is real… it’s not just this panda, but almost all I’ve gone to aren’t worth it. The plates got smaller and the price only increased. You don’t get much for what you pay for. They are stingy with their protein for example only get 3-4 small pieces of chicken and the rest they just fill up with rice and veggies 👎🏻
Mandarin King
I am the newsletter editor/grant writer for the San Fernando Valley RC Flyers and we have been having our XMAS party on here for the last 2 years. We had a great time
Some of the best shrimp fried rice i have had!!! So fresh tasted. Salt and pepper shrimp(head off) is also my favorite thing to have here. Along with the sweet and sour fish soooo good!
Hero’s Kitchen 学生食代
The stinky tofu is amazing, me and my friend ordered two more for Togo, the crispy rice cake is also good, it’s a little bit spicy but taste really good! Absolutely 5 stars
Most snacks are pre-made, so it is recommended to eat there, to go is not cost-effective. Chou tofu is not bad
鹵億鮮 Luyixian
Was trying to find a place for lunch on a random weekday. This place is excellent. Give the small hole in the wall vibe but inside is pretty spacious and clean. Staff is friendly and the food is excellent. I will say parking can be difficult but that shouldn’t surprise anyone in the area. Small underground lot if you can’t find anything upstairs Had the braised beef plate. Big portions, tasty and well braised beef. Veggies on the side were on the saltier side for my liking, but overall I’d get it again. Got the beef noodle soup as well. I thought the broth could be a littler more “rich”, on the lighter side than I usually like it. Not pictured but also tried the pork spare rib noodle soup. The spare ribs were tasty and fell off the bone. Overall enjoyed the food and staff. Would come back again to try some other dishes like the braised pork
Tried out this little place for dinner and it wasn’t too busy and we were able to be seated right away. This spot is super low key casual and feels like eating at your aunt’s home (especially the door to the second dining area). The servers were kind enough to bring us water with large cups so you don’t have to keep pouring/filling. FOOD: We ordered the Braised Pork Rice dish with peppers and Braised Beef Noodles soup. I will say that the flavors were not as salty as other places I’ve had, but flavors were not as strong as I’d have liked. - The beef chunks in the noodle soup were on the tough side but the noodles were soft and soup was pretty tasty. - The pork cubes with rice was pretty tasty as well. The dish came with a small bowl of soup. Parking: The lot on site is shared with other establishments so during rush hour it can get pretty packed. But there is an underground parking lot where more spaces can be found.
Deerfield Garden Restaurant
Fresh lamb slices are so good. $15 for 1.5lbs is also great price
S [must try / 一定要吃到] - not a restaurant anymore!!!! you come here to buy shabu shabu meat (best in town) - you can request fatty or lean for your beef - I appreciate how they will put ice for you if you live far away - speak Mandarin and English - insanely good quality meat with huge tray (highly recommend the 3 lb as its good for party of 4+) - meat prices changed a lot throughout the year (last time I went it was 30$ for 3 LB beef in 2024 Oct) TLDR: BUY HOT POT BEEF SLICES HERE. HIGH CP VALUE. VERY WORTH. ORDER 3 LB AND THANK ME LATER.
Happy Family Restaurant - Monterey Park
We waited and skipped out on this place last year because the wait was ridiculously long on Lunar New Year. We managed to only wait 30 mins this year because LNY landed on a Weekday. You write your name on the waiting list. Make sure you stay inside to hear your name because these people have no shame. I have witnessed, those that know the language, tried to smooch their way to the top and you need to pay attention and be ready to interfere. There is no order of first come first serve, if a table clears up for a party of 6, they could skip over the list and call that group. It’s terrible. While we were waiting, I studied what to order to save time. The physical menu, take out menu, and on line do not match. It’s so unorganized and not categorized. It needs to be redone with photos. Why put “vege” in front of a word when the entire restaurant is vegetarian! The portions are huge, meant for family banquet style and the price reflects that averaging $17.99 each. We are a party of 2 but ordered: -Corn cream and pumpkin soup ($13.59): Sweet like corn from a can. -Deep fried tofu: Not sure when they fried this because it wasn’t piping hot and the edges were not crispy. It was tofu with barely any batter. It was so bad that we had to tell the server to let the chef know so it doesn’t affect anyone else. -Eggplant w brown sauce ($17.99): This was the only egg plant combo option that wasn’t spicy. -Sweet and sour fish ($19.59): This was the only fish option that wasn’t spicy. -Walnut shrimp: I asked for walnut shrimp but something else came out instead. It was shrimp with mushrooms and nuts. My mom liked it so I didn’t complain. The quality of food was just meh. The crowd impacted the service and queue. I’ve tasted better vegetarian restaurants near by. I can now cross this one off my list. Sadly, we will not return.
It used to be amazing! What happened? The food was gluey, bland and very oily. Nothing was good, we didn’t even bother taking any leftovers. It’s quite a drive for us to get here and we all decided this was our last time 🙁
Yummy Cuisine
This is the most legit rice noodle roll I have ever had in the US! It tastes exactly the same as the ones I had in Guangzhou. I recommend it to everyone who loves or wants to try Cantonese food.
The epitome of Southern Chinese comfort food. The rice noodle rolls come in multiple different combinations, adding an egg really elevates the experience since the toppings are generally just put on top but the egg gets mixed in. The rice noodles have a ribbon ruffled texture that helps it capture the sweet soy sauce in between its layers. The century egg and pork congee was just okay, they used slice pork instead of ground pork and the pork flavor didn't really disperse throughout the soup. The rice is still larger chunks as well and not ground. Service is pretty fast. The atmosphere is pretty casual.
Hong Kong Cafe 香港茶餐厅
Food: Tasty, flavor and presentation are mediocre for some, lacking for others. The little egg waffle is very good Beverage: The house milk tea is good. Close enough to Hong Kong style, strong Portions: Normal average portions same size as most restaurants Price: A bit on the high side Service: Fast service and fast food preparation Atmosphere: High Kong vibes and feel. A bit busy with much decorations and neon lights It's my first time here since they opened. Came with my families and I believe we are all on the same page on the food, flavors and taste. We ordered 7 dishes, out of the 7, only 2 are tasty, the rest are just mediocre and one in particular is just not good, not recommended. The honey pork chop. Not enough honey, soggy, not tasty enough. Fry chicken wing, a simple dish is not flavorful enough. The baje chicken noodle with the white sauce is very good, creamy and tasty. Milk tea is good, choose to the Hong Kong style. Kind of strong though. The little egg waffle is one of the best i have ever taste, my niece also agrees Service are fast, Asian style, meaning not much chatting and only take your orders. They are pretty fast as the waiters/waitress are equipped with tablets to take orders. Dishes are prepared and ready within 10 minutes. That pretty fast. Atmosphere as I mentioned is decorated to looks like or feels like a Hong Kong vibe with many different pictures of places in Hong Kong, signs, vehicles and buildings. You do get the feel of being in Hong Kong, and that's the theme. Some people like this view and feel, but some thinks it a bit busy. It does not feel upscale, but a cafe if Hong Kong is not meant for that purpose. All and all. It's worth trying and feel the vibe, some things are worth ordering and some are better elsewhere. You be the judge
I really liked the ribeye steak!! It was only $19.95, but it looked and tasted very good (honestly, even better than some $100+ steak I had in the past). I would definitely come back for the ribeye steak. The Hainan chicken rice was delicious with big portion as well. I even liked their fries, they were simple fries but they were freshly cooked. The restaurants is decorated with CH/HK signs which I loved. It gave me a feeling of eating in a restaurant in HK. The workers were fast with their services. The foods came out within 10 minutes. I highly recommend this place. Good place. Good price. Good food.
Panda Express
This is also one of the places is better for college students to come here and eat and hang out. The food is great. I’m guarantee you you will like it. As a YouTube content creator, I’m guarantee you🫵 will like this hundred percent.
Panda Express is great for cheap, fast, macro-friendly meals. They list the calories as well as amount of protein for each item, which I have never seen before. For fast food it is decently healthy if you pick the right items, you can get over 100g of protein which is insane value. The staff are very friendly, but I asked for a student discount and they said they gave it, but on the receipt it was regular price. Kinda suspicious, usually they give 10% off for students.
