China 1
Got my sweet sour chicken lunch and crab Rangoon delivered. Hot and crispy. I
We eat a lot of Chinese food. I'll be comparing this place to some others. It was our first time eating here today, 4/2/24. We did carry out. 1st, The Spring Rolls, simply put - they were absolutely horrible. 2nd, The Chicken Chow Mein - nice julienne sliced vegetables, mostly onions and celery, a decent sauce - was a 3 out of 5, and there was less than a tablespoon of chicken in the entire dish. 3rd, The Scallops & Broccoli, in garlic sauce was tasty, way too much of the sauce, maybe 6 scallops, penny size. The Won Ton soup was decent, better than average. The Hot & Sour soup was just okay. The quality of the food was at best a 2.5... The atmosphere is at best a 1. don't know how the fish in the fish tank are still living. anybody that gives atmosphere more than a one is out of touch or must live in a dumpster. We tried eating in St. Matthews thinking we would get a better quality considering the image the city wants to present. We will be trying Chinese food off Hubbard's Lane in the Kroger center this next week. So far, our favorite in this area is Oriental Cafe in Hikes Point... We live in the middle of all three and wanted to give the three of them a try and comparison. Three hours later my son and I have both spent excessive time in the bathroom... for what that's worth...đľâđŤ
Double Dragon
I'm going to be honest. I thought I was going to a place where I could street fight, like in the game. This was not the case. 𫤠However, the food was good. That's why I gave it four stars. But if you're looking for a place to street fight, I would go somewhere else.
I used to think reviews didn't matter! However, they do. I would always get on my wife when she refused to go places or buy things with bad reviews. I always wanted to give places or things a chance. And in doing so, I just wasted 15$. This isn't a knock on Double Dragon 9 because the reviews stated a 3.9, so it's my fault. It's giving credit to Double Dragon! This place should and deserve to be 5***** restaurant. Best Chinese spot in the Ville hands down.
Chamling Kitchen & Bar
Came here all the way from Lexington to try authentic Nepali cuisine. We ordered jhol momo, C: momo and pork sukuti for the table and to go. The service was pretty quick and we were really pleased by the ownerâs customer service. Will visit again. The pork sukuti was to die for. I added sukuti to my jhol momo and the result was phenomenal.
Stopped in for lunch one day since I drive by this place on the regular and never actually ate there. It's a very nice sit down restaurant even though they do take out too. The food was very good and the spice levels were just right. I do recommend ordering at the place or over the phone for take out because the online ordering menu is incorrect.
China 1
EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERIVCE!!! I am new to the city and so far this is my favorite restaurant near my work place. I usually go here on my half hour dinner break. My favorite is the hot and sour soup. It is very tasty. I just wish my break was longer so I can have more time to enjoy. The little girl working at the counter was sweet and friendly
This is my favorite Chinese restaurant here in Louisville. I usually order between $40-50 in food. Over $40 you get free crab ragoons. Everything we have ever tried has been delicious! I drive past a Chinese restaurant a few blocks away from my house to get food from here! They are also fast and very friendly!!! *Edited 11/14/2019 to add pictures. I added 9 pictures from our most recent purchase. I should have taken a picture of everything together so you could see how much food you get! This is still my favorite Chinese Restaurant here by far.
August Moon Chinese Bistro
August Moon has been a family favorite of my Father & I at linnertime (a little after lunch, a lot before dinner;) for years!!! The food is always deliciousâall time fav dishes, Shrimp Lomein, hot & sour soup. The restaurant, dining room & bar area are beautiful. And the staff â Yandi, Sebastian & Mimi are The Best! Thanks you all for so many years of delicious excellence and to many, many more đđđđ˛đ§§đŤâ¨
First time visit, service and food was excellent. We also had a pot of oolong tea.
Oriental Star
Ordered black pepper chicken with noodles, chicken and broccoli combo, and crab rangoon. Over $36 for this little bit. Black pepper chicken- terrible. Never again. Was VERY sweet. Could feel the sugar granules on my tongue. Black pepper chicken should not be sweet at all. Chicken and broccoli- broccoli had many bad spots in it. Chicken was without flavor and tasted a bit off putting. Rice was dry and clumped together. Not good. Egg Roll(came with combo)- cabbage only. Very greasy. Grease needs cleaned. Crab Rangoon- my wife LOVES this recipe. Very sweet. Lots of onion. I give them a 3/5. Noodles- not terrible. Over cooked, very dark, some seasoning was there, no vegetables. NOTE: No fortune cookies, no sauces, they didn't ask. For $36 for only this is very expensive for the quality being produced. Will not return to this location.
Saw this place on maps so I dropped in. Definitely not a dine-in restaurant although you can eat here. It's more of an order for pick-up place. I had the shrimp lo-mein and dumplings. Both were very good. Worth the stop if you want Chinese for lunch or dinner.
King Buffet
Me and my husband wanted to try this place, we normally go to Frankfort KY to our buffet and it's a 10 stars delicious. It was a lot of people and a lot of food and it look delicious but once you put it in your mouth it was salty and over cook. My best is the frog legs and when you over cook frog legs that's a disappointment for me. My egg drop soup was not what I was use to. My stomach hurt and I didn't even eat much
Food 7/10 Service 10/10 Atmosphere 10/10 Cleanliness 10/10 Place has a hibachi, which is pretty good. Kinda makes up some for not having more choices/ selection in the buffet. Overall itâs a decent place to it with out braking the bank lol but have definitely been to better ones :)
China Star Buffet
Positives: đ˝ď¸ Variety of Options: The buffet boasts an extensive selection, including seafood dishes, crispy fried favorites, a fresh salad bar, and a delightful dessert spread. Perfect for groups with diverse cravings! đ¨đł Friendly Service: The staff greeted us warmly, offered booth or table seating, and drinks were included with dinnerâno extra charge. đ Local Favorite: Despite the unassuming exterior, the packed parking lot speaks volumes! A go-to spot for Ellettsville residents, Bloomington visitors, and students nearby. âł Leisurely Dining: No rush to finishâenjoy your meal at your own pace. Negatives: đď¸ Exterior First Impressions: The outside looks dated and could use a refresh to match the bustling vibe inside. đł Credit Card Fee: The 3% surcharge for card payments feels outdated; consider building this into menu pricing instead. đ˛ Inconsistent Food Refills: Popular dishes (like certain seafood or fried items) sometimes ran out, requiring patience until small-batch refills arrived. â ď¸ Floor Safety: Spilled water near the buffet area was a slipping hazardâbetter cleanup vigilance is needed. đ Missing Beef: No beef options on the dinner menu, which might disappoint fans of classics like Mongolian beef or pepper steak. Areas for Improvement: 1ď¸âŁ Refill Strategy: Stock high-demand items more generously to avoid empty trays during peak hours. 2ď¸âŁ Cleanliness Priority: Assign staff to monitor and clean spills promptly, especially in high-traffic zones. 3ď¸âŁ Expand the Menu: Add a few beef dishes to balance the protein offerings. 4ď¸âŁ Drop the Card Fee: Transparent pricing builds trustâabsorb the fee into menu costs instead. Final Thoughts: China Star Buffet is a hidden gem in Ellettsville (near Bloomington) with its generous variety, friendly service, and relaxed atmosphere. While itâs not perfectâexterior upkeep and occasional food gaps need workâitâs a solid choice in an area with limited dining options. Great for students, families, or anyone craving a casual, all-you-can-eat experience. We left satisfied and would return! Note for Readers: Donât let the plain exterior fool youâthis spotâs popularity with locals and visitors is well-earned!
A really nice place to eat, very clean and the staff are friendly and great about keeping your cups filled, me and my roommate love eating lunch here anytime we get the chance.
Dragon
Small little gem in Bloomington Indiana. Had shredded spicy beef , egg drop soup, and egg rolls. All were spectacular for a good price. What made the dish stand out was their use of homemade chili paste. You can really taste the char and nuttiness of the toasted peppers. Best chilli paste I've had in years from a restaurant.
So we went here last night and got some dinner and it was very hard burnt and old. I donât suggest anyone going there especially late at night because your food will be disgusting and we went up there to try to get in Reimbursement on it and the guy was very rude! The guy said we feed everybody the same. He didnât care that I was sick to my stomach all night. He didnât care that it was burnt. He was a careless man. I will never eat at this place again and I will never recommend it to my worst enemy, Just kidding, I would recommend it to my worst enemy
China Wok
Ordered a small fried rice and a small vegetable lo Mien. With two egg rolls. The prices were above average and the quality was very bad. The rice has nothing in it. No flavor and tasted stale. Very disappointing. Won't be visiting this place again.
This was my first time eating here. The black peppered chicken was really good. I can understand using plasticware for carryout, but should not be used when dining inside.
Red Authentic Chinese Restaurant
Had some of the most delicious food here! Everything was excellent, the scallion pancakes were CRISP, the cucumbers were so flavorful, and the egg foo young was crispy and the gravy was so delicious.
Authentic Chinese food restaurant. This is one of 2 larger Chinese restaurants in Bloomingtoon. We decided to have chinese food for lunch but wanted to try something new and we found this. It was empty when we arrived. The menu is quite comprehensive with choices or meat and veggies diishes. It serves non sipcy and also sichuan dishes. We ordered Dry hotpot, fish with sour veggie doup, pork with garlic sauce, and pork belly with garlic. It is interesting that they ran out of many veggie for the dry hotpot. The food was ready quickly, and they were yummy except the pork belly. The best was the fish soup. The dry hotpot was good, but it is similar to what we had at other malatang restaurants. Overall, it was a good lunch and good service. Pricewise, I think it is reasonable.
Uncle Wang's Alley
So good! We got the Mongolian chicken, orange chicken, sweet and sour crispy fried pork, chicken fried rice, pork spring rolls and green beans. Everything was great except the crispy pork was mainly breading. The portion sizes were big. The food came out timely and the only issues we had with the service is he forgot the drinks we ordered and didnât offer any to go boxes. We just grabbed our own to go stuff because it was on a table near by. And really I think it was just because they were so busy.
Uncle Wangâs Alley is one of the best Chinese restaurants I have ever been to. The food is fresh and authentic, each dish had its own flavor. We got eight different meals to try. The spicy lamb ribs and crispy pork were excellent. The duck was also cooked perfectly. Everything was seasoned well, some dishes were spicy, but not too spicy if you donât eat the peppers. The place was very busy which on a Friday night which is great to see. They just opened up under new management, I definitely recommend eating here if you want authentic Chinese cuisine.
