It’s called Happy Bakery but it’s mostly Dim Sum and food to go. I don’t eat much veggies but they have the best string bean chicken with tofu. This is a must-try! Dim Sum on the other side is also good with their Siopao & Sesame Balls. An order of combination over rice was only $6 but I guess inflation got in the way. Still worth coming for those string bean! 😋😋

Happy Bakery has many friendly people working there, and the dim sum and Chinese fast food are pretty good. The store has two sections. The section on the left is my favorite dim sum section. They have many different dim sum for the reasonable prices. The Chinese fast food section is more like Panda Express. You can see what you want, and they scoop it into the box. Both sides are quick and yummy!

I wouldn't go back. Indifferent service. No care was taken to trim my porkchop. I was constantly removing gristle and bits of bone after most bites. Towards the end of my meal, I found a small piece of wire on my plate. The woman couldn't care less. Zero atmosphere. Cash only. In one of the Chinese food capitals of the world, why go back?

If you like your Chinese food like you like your telenovelas (saucy) then you would like Hong’s Kitchen. Quiet no frills restaurant with one waitress and a small kitchen near the beach with a few booths and a few larger round tables that can easily seat 8 people comfortably. Was surprised they have a lamb section for such a small restaurant and the two lamb dishes were delicisioso. Order white rice by the serving to go with all your sauciness. Cash only, your credit card is unworthy here.

Came here with the in-laws and had lunch. Foods good and it gets packed. Make sure to get here early and if you’re ordering some oven baked items, it might take a while. Def still a gem for the price it is, cash only. I enjoyed my won ton lo mien and iced lemon coke. We also ordered curry oxtail rice, baked oxtail over rice, and baked pork chop. Just a lot of people enjoying their lunch and watching the tv that they have there. Sunday football 😂🤙🏽. 10/10 I’m Chinese so I’d come back again. - iG@BlackTigerEats

What we ordered was Indonesian fried rice and ox tongue baked pasta. Tak Kee is a Hong Kong Cha Chang Tang style food at reasonable price which is the cheapest in the outer sunset area. Their Hong Kong style milk tea has a very rich tea flavor with evaporated milk added before it was served, which is a bit different from Hong Kong where you would need to add your own table sugar with your own adjustments.

Authentic and umami tastes of Chaoshan cuisine, with an unbelievable large portion of beef noodle bowl for one person. Indeed valuable for the price. One must pay a visit if you are around the town! I also found many Cantonese spoken folks (young or prime) are dining in here.

Best Chao Zhou food I ever tried in SF Their Chao Zhou Pan Fried Oyster Cake is very good! crispy on the outside, with plump, juicy oysters The Chao Shan Beef & Beef Ball Flat Noodle Soup is a must try! The handmade beef balls are so bouncy and flavorful, and those flat noodles soaked up all the rich, savory broth. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Chaozhou and Chaoshan dishes.

The fried rice (chicken) here is really good. They have wings which are pretty good too. Simple but still good. But don't like their noodle dishes. Service is ok, not too but on the wait time. Prices are ok. Hard to find parking sometimes.

TLDR: quality items at reasonable prices, under new ownership We love their full soy sauce chicken, it is so moist and delicious. The red tofu with pork was also tasty with a nice gravy that goes well with white rice. The garlic pea sprouts had plenty of flavor and not too oily. I would highly recommend the chicken !!

Old Mandarin Islamic Restaurant 0

Based on the reviews, it's hard to determine if Old Mandarin is among the best or the worst restaurants in SF. So I decided to check it out for myself. From the outside, it has a simple vibe and is very up-front about being a Halal restaurant (which I appreciate as a Muslim). Stepping inside, I can admire the variety of decorations and artwork that cover the walls. My party is quickly guided to a table and provided with menus. The waiter wasn't particularly chatty, but he was friendly, professional, & prompt, which is all I look for. He collected our orders and within a few minutes, the food was ready. For entrees, I shared the Cumin Lamb Stir-Fry and the Eggplant in Spicy Garlic Sauce, both of which were recommended in . The lamb was flavorful and satisfying, while the subtle sweetness of the eggplant was beautifully complemented by the sauce. A simple side of white rice was all else that was needed to complete my meal. I will now touch on price, which seems to be a contentious point in many reviews. Firstly, a few have called out the "hidden" fees that materialized on the receipt, like the gratuity. However, the menu was pretty upfront about what they included.. (Now you may have an opinion on the existence of those fees, but that's probably outside the scope of a review..) Secondly, I am stumped as to why the prices are considered higher than expected. I have never considered SF a "cheap" place to eat, and there are far worse offenders that should be called out before Old Mandarin. My guess is that this is more expensive than other Chinese "hole-in-the-wall" restaurants, but I cannot classify this as "merely" hole-in-the-wall due to the quality and the exclusive usage of Halal ingredients. I was pretty satisfied with the portions, and the per-person cost was ~$30, hardly the worst for an occasional dine-in meal. One point I will agree with is that they should offer free water in a glass, instead of assuming "water" == $2 bottled water. I suppose Europeans would be used to this.. Overall, I was happy with my meal at Old Mandarin and look forward to future visits. Maybe I will have to revise my review but I hope not.

Everything here on menu, amazing. Pleasing to a wide-crowd, an excellent option when dining out with halal or kosher friends. A reflection of China’s rich history along the Silk Road. Cumin Lamb, a highlight. Spice-forward and dry stir-fried, water chestnuts a textural treat. Crack Fish Chef’s Special, reminiscent of a Sichuan classic — with a mildly mala, chili pepper and numbing peppercorn broth. Eggplant, excellent. Alcohol (including baijiu) available — menu perfect as drinking accompaniments.

Food is still delicious as I remember eating here in early 1990 when my family lived around the block on 33rd st. Great portion of the food with decent price. The restaurant needs update or cleaning to make it more enjoyable. We’re eating while writing this review. If you want delicious and tasty Cantonese cooking at affordable prices, the could be your place. We ordered Beef Chow Mein (pan fried crispy noodles) for $10.95 and FuKien Style Fried Rice for $12.95. You can feed 3 adults or family of 4.

One of my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. The big pros is that it open until 12PM so sometime I'm off worj at 9:30 I can go here and have something hot to eat. But sadly they don't really have much cold drink, and I really like haveling a cold ice Coke along with my meal (but they have hot tea). The food is great. Price is decent. More detail review in the photos. They have many other good dishes but as I eat here casually, I don't really take many photos. Environment and services: quite big place inside, but maybe because I eat there quite late, the service is barely there. Seasoning tray are in the middle of the dinning hall, you have to get it yourself and bring to you table. But the owner is very friendly tho. Overall, good and affordable food. Would comeback often.

Food is alright - standard Chinese family restaurant food. I like the red bean dessert. Service is pretty good on Tues but the restaurant was half empty. Staff was really aware and asked if we needed to change plates frequently.

Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Overall: A standard fare Chinese restaurant. The extended review... Food: 3/5 - Went family style on this meal and got some typical pork and veggie dishes. We also had some dishes that may not be ordered so often like steamed egg and salted fish pork. All tasted pretty standard fare. Service: 3/5 - Standard service. Ambiance: 3/5 - A typical chinese restaurant vibe.

Mongjok Dim Sum is as good or better than some of the Dim Sum restaurants around the Bay.

Fool me once, shame on you. I have only myself to blame for walking in here a 2nd time. I tried their sticky rice in lotus leaf last time and it was surprisingly awful. But I have a character flaw that thinks sometimes you just catch people on a bad day. I'm contemplating tossing the pork sui mai and pan fried shrimp thingies in the trash that I'm trying to choke down. Who the ckuf serves dim sum stone cold? Seriously? Their chilli paste smells funny too! How is this place still in biz?

This has been a long awaited review! Recently ordered the Mongolian beef, and shrimp fried rice at midnight. I just got off work and thank goodness they were open because I am too tired after work to cook. The food was yummy! It hit the spot!

Great tasty food with amazing service. I ordered some fried fish and chicken fried rice from Nikki on a Saturday night as a walk in customer. Nikki was full of positive energy and greeted us when we came in. While I waited for my food, Nikki was so kind to bring my friend and I some water - she emanated great service despite it being a busy Saturday night. Once I took my first bite of the fried rice, I was in heaven. Delicious flavoring, not too greasy, at a decent price. I’d come back.

San Francisco has so many Chinese barbecue restaurants and stores. Guangdong Barbecue Restaurant is one of the famous barbecue restaurants in the Sunset District. Most of the customers purchase the Chinese barbecue to go. They have the yummy roasted duck, BBQ pork, and roasted pork. All these BBQ items are my favorite!

Lady was incredibly rude. Seemed like she did not want to deal w me and wouldn't even talk and answer my requests. Just kept shaking her head. Asked for extra chopsticks and take out container and she wanted to charge me $1. Duck itself was fine tho.

I'm looking for something different for lunch with my uncle in San Francisco. The Soup shows up in my research, which seems like a good idea. I decided to give them a try. I was there at around 11:30 am. 30 minutes after the restaurant opens on a Saturday morning. The restaurant wasn't very busy. We have an excellent table next to the big window in front of the restaurant. The dining room is very clean and comfortable as well. All the soups and foods we ordered are delicious. We love them all. The service is better than most of the Chinese restaurants in the area. We enjoyed our lunch here. I’ll be back soon!

Try new stuff tonight. The Interior is nice. They have many choices of soup and steamed rice. The soup is yummy and the steam rice also good. The braised pork with preserved veggie is a bit sweet for my taste. The lamb soup is good. Looks like is the most pricey item but it is for 2 to 3 people. Good that no lamb smell on the soup at all.
