Bao Kee Cafe寶記
The food is affordable and delicious. Keep it up and I will come again😋
We needed a quick lunch before our next destination. It was 2pm. Google mapped it. This little restaurant had 5 tables and one waitress but she had it down. Food was definitely home style. It’s definitely a mom and pop operation.
Harlam's Kitchen 蝦林小廚
Best place to grab wonton noodles, fried egg noodles and congee. They have other dishes like rice rolled with Chinese donut. Prices are affordable, most dishes $7-10. My mom and I love this spot.
Love love love this place inside the food court. Have been coming here almost all my life. They are closed Wednesday. Best Hong Kong style foods. Amazing food at amazing deal, and portion. I'm simple, my favorite is soy sauce chow mein, sometime add BBQ pork. Beef chow fun, my next favorite. Beef stew wanton soup noodles, can't pass up. I always get it to go. Usually to LAX before I fly out! LoL
Hong Kong Dim Sum House -South El Monte
Let’s keep it real. Looking for a grand room where carts offer up selections well this is not that. If you are looking for a place to order and take some dim sum home with you well this is it. Parking is a bit small but manageable. The dim sum is not sitting there waiting on steam tables getting soggy. They are steamed fresher for your order so you may need to wait a few minutes. We ordered the typical stuff. The ribs were ok as was the steamed pork bun. The dumplings were great. Good texture and lots of flavor. The fried shrimp was great. Ambiance can put you off a bit.. it is not a sit down location so level set expectations. Definitely will be back when I have to go into the office.
This is a carry out place, not a sit-down restaurant. Dim sum portions are bigger than most other dim sum places, shrimp dumpling and shu mai are very tasty. Overall food is not too salty.
J J Hong Kong Cafe
I can count on J J Cafe being open late and having amazing authentic food. Parking is easy in their lot. Pleasant atmosphere and friendly wait service. I ordered the Won Ton Soup. I also ordered the Pork Hocks and Beef Stew Lo Mein. We got to put some of those noodles in our soup. Tender meat.
Been here a few times. The service here is slow when it gets busy. Parking is pretty easy in the underground parking garage. We ordered Beef Chow Fun, chicken fried steak and smelt roe fried rice. Our favorite dish is the smelt roe fried rice. The beef Chow Fun is just alright not much wok hei flavor. The chicken fried steak is big and juicy. We have been here many times for breakfast and lunch.
Rice Wok Chinese Food
I ordered a wonton soup and ate half of a shrimp. The shrimp was very slimy and also had a strong oder . I went to get a refund and the cashier lady was just giving me a smirk on her face but she gave me my money back. The cook in the back was just peeking from the door, looking at me as if he knew I knew the shrimp had been bad and still had the audacity to serve it instead of letting a manager know to throw the shrimp away .i been a regular costumer since they opened with no problems until today. I don't recommend getting anything with shrimp on it!
All right guys I usually don’t do this but I can’t pass it up this time. I got some moldy black pepper chicken and it smells so bad I’ll post a picture right now I’m sorry rice Xpress, but this is not OK. It hurts to show you guys . And for rice express I am also sorry that you let somebody service this
Sham Tseng BBQ
I was going to try the noodles place across the street, they were closed that day so I randomly tried this restaurant. The place was packed on a Sunday. The place has that funky Hong Kong narrow street cafe feel to it. You see all the phots of food posted all over. I was lucky they were having a $39.99 promo for lobster noodles. 2 small lobster on top of noodles. It was great. The lobsters were on small side, maybe a lbs or so each. So hardly any tail meat really, but it was still worth it for the price. Totally come back to check out the bbq next time.
Personally I like this place, but must admit, the atmosphere is like any cafe restaurant you find with a little smell of the roast duck and pork right next door. The food here is great though! (Which is probably more important anyway!) always can find a pleasant surprise with the dishes they can make. If you’re looking for something exquisite will require ordering ahead of time though, especially some seafoods, so call ahead if you’re looking for the more expensive stuff.
Qian Xun Kabab Bar
Wow....I haven't seen my sister for a month, and I made an appointment the first day. I ate a round of delicious food. My good friend came to change tables and ate another round. The business of this business is really booming. Make an appointment in advance to reserve a seat, there is no seat for Walking in. Good non-greasy dry mouth.
Best place in town for Northeastern Chinese bbq. The raw beef kebab is the bomb! I love everything we ordered.
Big Ma’s Kitchen
This place is too small to host for dim sum and it’s going to be a long wait for the weekend. Parking is also a big challenge. The foods are above average compared to all the foods in the San Gabriel valley. It has few VIP rooms which I think it’s good for hosting for dinner.
Food and taste are good. Price is reasonable. However, the restaurant itself has been lacking of maintenance; especially restrooms are requiring major renovation.
Kim Ky Noodle House
The soup was good! I really enjoyed the small noodles- never had that type before. I liked the donut as well (dipping is the best)
Have been a long time customer here for over 15 years, as well as my family from the 626. Never had issues until recently. Had asked for takeout boxes to pack our dine-in meals, and requested a condiment container. Waitress brings a very small pre-filled container of chili (2 pieces of chili), and a small empty bag. When we went to add a few more pieces of chili to the bag, she states the store policy and that they will charge for it, didn't offer a second container. Server had a very snappy and rude demeanor during whole process. We didn't know there policy, as we had been long time customers here. We respected the wishes and rules, left it as is. No harm no foul. However she continued to speak behind our backs in Chinese as if we didn't understand. She minced in some rude and disrespectful things as if we lifted a whole case of chili... then another worker joins in, and doubles down. I get it, mom and pop, asian style resturant culture is unique, but damn... A little situational awareness and basic customer service skills would've went a long way, especially if the food ain't anything to write home about and you stingy with you're condiments. Food here is decent, they only take cash. The egg noodle seafood soup or wonton soup is what I usually get at these type of noodle houses. The one here is average at best tbh, soup is bland/dull, the meat portions are minimal, wonton meat is overcooked, prices have gotten higher, but due to being local mom and pop, I usually pick this spot. After this experience however, I won't be coming back. I personally prefer Kim Kee over at MPK(better broth and service), and will gladly make that drive then come back here :) TLDR; Expect some rude customer service. Bring cash. Don't ask for extras. Maybe bring your own napkins too, because they might hound you for using too many. Be ready to navigate through some old chain smoking viet dudes camping the exit and mad dogging you lol.
Boiling Seafood Wok
A jewel among hole in the wall… authentic Cantonese food… went there twice within one week and looking forward again to try out other dishes… the lunch special on weekdays is until 5 and it is only $9.99!!! And they give you soup & rice too.. with price of food up the roof.. I don’t know any other restaurants with that price! But don’t matter if doesn’t taste good … so thank me later.. the sea bass hot pot is their signature dish! Will take family and eat there soon..
Make sure to come with a large group, portions are large, so in order to try multiple dishes, bring the family and friends and make it a gathering. Services were nice and friendly, call in a head of time to reserve a table for the weekends
The Northern Bistro
Wonderful guobaorou,/double fried pork, they have great tea and amazing service, they helped me find a place to put my scooter. The rice is really fragrant and they gave me roasted barley tea to be specific. The guobaorou was SUPER fresh and crispy, 100% recommend for authentic northern Chinese food
Ba Wang Si is the best soda in Northeastern China, and I rarely find it in any Chinese restaurant. The food is authentic and delicious. The service is fast, and the servers are helpful.
Hunan Spicy Taste Restaurant
Since my favorite Hunan restaurant closed (Hunan Maojia), I've been looking for good Hunan cuisine. A friend if mine brought me here for special meal with off menu dishes. Terrific flavors and spiciness that doesn't overwhelm the other subtle flavors.
This is a restaurant with Chinese characteristics. There is a milk tea shop in the shop, which is rather strange. The taste is spicy from Hunan, China, and it's not bad. The rice is not particularly fresh, the lobby is a bit messy, and the service attitude is average, not too satisfied.
