China Lites
Very good. Tried for the first time and will definitely return. The pork fried rice was excellent. Lots of pork. Lots of flavor. More flavor than most places. Very tasty on its own. The Beef with String Beans was excellent. Tender beef. Very good ratio of beef to beans. Very flavorful. Definitely a repeat. The Garlic Shrimp was very disappointing. Didn't taste garlic. It had good flavors and the shrimp was fresh and not overcooked, but when I order something with garlic in the name, I anticipate tasting garlic. The Hot and Sour Soup was very good. Plenty of tofu, but would have preferred more mushrooms and bamboo shoots. It had about half of what other restaurants give. Lots of great flavor. A little more sweet than I'd prefer though. The chicken dumplings were good, but maybe not the best choice for take-out. Good flavor. Not greasy, but ate them at least thirty minutes after cooking and they should be eaten immediately. I'm definitely returning and trying other dishes.
If you're looking for quick bite and don't have a whole lot of cash, this is the ideal place. Not really ideal for kids but if you're also looking for privacy while having a quick meal, I'd highly recommend it. This place has been around for decades and I've probably been going there for just as long. Go check them out..
Chinese Delight
Delicious food. Really tasty and savory. I have tried the Orange Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Pepper Beef, I would say it’s a 10/10 so far. The hot and sour soup paired with the fried rice is exquisite. They also have a crispy cabbage veggie roll that just crunches and adds depth to the experience. Definitely a must have if you’re in the area. Try it once and I know you’ll return like I have. Compliments to the chefs and waitresses are genuine and honestly nice. Atmosphere is nice. The picture is the orange chicken
Hands down the best Chinese food I've ever had in LA! This was my first time ordering from here. I got steamed potstickers and mu shu pork, super flavorful and large portions for a pretty good price. Definitely my new favorite Chinese spot!
Golden Chopsticks
Excellent, service food. This is true meaning of hole in the wall food. Don't pass this up.
This was the 1st restaurant I visited when I moved to Valley Village in 2002. It's been a favorite ever since. It's no surprise it's lasted the test of time. House Special Chicken for the win!
Chifa
Chifa is colorful, quirky and delicious. Chinese meets Peruvian, not really fusion but BBQ and stir fried with flavors and seasoning that just works well. The highlights from Chifa were the noodles, steak and rice. Dan Dan Mian, Lomo Saltado and Trinity fried rice really pairs well with beer, cocktails or good cold ole' tap. The Brulee Char Sui and Sui Mai were the disappointments... both well prepared but fell short in taste compared with the other dishes. Chifa has a wonderful interior and welcoming exterior with minimal parking on the street.
My partner and I have been wanting to try this place for a while now so decided to go here for a date night.👩❤️💋👨✨ All of the staff were really friendly from the hostess to the server. I will say my favorite dish had to be the black pepper prawns. 🦐 🍽️Great atmosphere, awesome staff, but the food was 🆗.
Egg Roll King
We were like, " I'm feeling Chinese"... Looked up a "Chinese restaurant near me" bam! "there it is!" Whew? It's a roller coaster ride of flavor. Everything was fresh. The veggies were still crisp. There was half the oil in it as other places. Humans favorite flavor is fat. They wouldn't make money without a little oil. The lady was so nice and welcoming. I ordered wonton soup. It was made just for me. Bomb!
Food and service are great not many tables but almost always available
Perfect 1 Dollar Chinese Food
Good food and delicious 😋. Cheap price with a lot of food. One single order enough for two people, save a lot money. Fast service and delivery. I always go there for lunch and dinner. But they open for breakfast too. Good service. Recommend it. 👍
It is just the best Chinese food. Great service nice, really kind and great Employees. Best prices 10$ for one plate is crazy and they give you a lot of food so is amazing. The egg rolls are so good. Really recommend this place is great overall.
Hong Kong Express
I enjoy the fair prices and good quality food. Also if you like boba they have a great selection. I would highly recommend you give this place a try!!
The staff are so accommodating and very sweet to help out. I am really impressed with the Thai Tea boba drink I got this few days back. The place seems to be super clean. I enjoyed my purchase. The food smelled delicious. It all look so appetizing. I will definitely be coming back to for more. I’m also looking forward for the different kinds of soups they have.
Hong Kong Bowl
I don’t live in LA anymore but I still think about this spot and I try to go each time I visit. Great noodles. They have been consistently delicious for decades. Must try.
Worst Chinese fast food Ive ever had. I ordered a plate and 4 wings which ended up costing almost $18 which is already insane, I had chow mein with mushroom chicken, orange chicken, and 4 wings. The chow mein was oily and flavorless, orange chicken was basically all mush and no chicken, and the mushroom chicken was wet and bland. The chicken wings were mostly fat and the inside was barely cooked. First time trying this since I've moved to this area and never again will. Worst $18 I've ever spent. Stay away from this place.
Combo A
Food was very delicious. It was my first time here and I had to try a little bit of everything. I absolutely loved the portions of Orange Chicken & Beef Broccoli. Our plates were overflowing with food and you definitely get your money’s worth. Super fast service. I was in and out of there in less than five minutes. I loved how friendly the staff was and how clean the establishment was. It’s a cute little spot in a plaza with plenty of parking. They also do phone orders so next time I will call in advance and have a quicker pickup time. I will definitely be coming back for their egg fried noodles and wings.
The food is way overpriced for the small portions you receive. The servers are stingy; they would even remove food from your plate after they've already served it. I ordered chicken, and I was only given three tiny wings. If you guys want to charge more than fkn add more to the plate. I seriously don’t leave reviews but this got to me. And the reviewers here who are hyping it up quit lying
Wow Bowl
I love this place they have the best udon noodles I have ever had in my entire life like I’m not exaggerating they will get you addicted!
I rarely leave reviews but this was so incredibly bad I felt moved to do it. This is in no exaggeration the worst, let me repeat, worst Chinese food you could eat. Fried rice was soaked in oil, I mean literally soaked in oil that I squeezed my rice with a spoon and saw it draining out, not water, oil there was at least 4 spoonfuls of oil on the bottom of my bowl in mushy rice. The dumplings also covered in oil, not pot stickers, dumplings. Filing was decent. Only if you are starving to death and being paid to eat this you might find the willpower to eat it. Place value on your life. Don't eat here. I award them no stars, and may God have mercy on their soul.
Northern Cafe DTLA
If you’re craving Chinese food in downtown Los Angeles, this is a spot you won’t want to miss! The portions are generous—perfect for sharing—so you definitely get great value for your meal. We ordered the orange chicken and beef fried rice, and both were absolutely delicious. One thing we truly appreciated was the relaxed atmosphere. There was no rush to clear our table after we finished eating, allowing us to sit and enjoy our time without feeling pressured to leave. Our server, Hazel, was fantastic—attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. For excellent food, generous portions, and great service, this place is definitely worth a visit!
2/22/2025 - Northern Cafe DTLA joined the chain Chinese restaurant of Dumpling House and had a grand opening at the heart of the downtown Los Angeles on 09/21/2024. Across the street is Macy's Plaza that will be scheduled to be closed in 2025. The first Northern Cafe was opened in Arcadia, CA in 2004. The price of many dishes is very reasonable, for example, a set of five Crab Meat or Pork Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao, 蟹粉小笼包) is only $6.50 in weekend in comparison to other places at $10.95 we visited two weeks ago. We admire the owner, Cynthia, to open the first authentic Chinese restaurant in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. We enjoyed every dish. The tea drinks are okay because all drinks are pre-made but Boba is excellent with soft and elastic nature.
Paul's Kitchen
Paul's Kitchen is a great place for authentic Cantonese Chinese food my grandparents and parents would take us here the food was good the atmosphere was exactly the same since the 80's service was good except when leaving the waitress ask was I leaving a tip? Then double back to let me know that the tip was not included in my check🥴🤔 ..... I ordered pork fried rice and pork egg foo young it was delicious 😋 I enjoyed the green tea and pan fried noodles my total was $34.91 They are a cash only restaurant
The place is a dump. I would not minded if the food was descent, but it wasn't. Pros: eggrolls, wonton soup was good. Descent. But nothing that would make me say wow. The staff is rude, the waitress got upset I didn't tip her more, I tip based on service, if service is good, I tip good, if it's just bad I tip low. She was yelling at me for it. Also, they over charge, they don't charge what they post. For example, an item said 16 in menu, but they charged me 19. When I told her u already took more, she said that was taxes. 10% is 1.60 not 3.00, she did this for all seven items I bought. I felt they were purposely charging way more, they only take cash. So be careful. Save yourself a head ache go to jade wok in China town, the food is way better, bigger portions, cheaper and they don't purposely over charge you. Be prepared to order lots of plates, they are mini plates at this eatery. Not worth 19 for kids size portions.
