Hu Din Ji Shanghai Bistro
(May 2024) We got the Shanghai pan fried pork bun (recommended by a friend), pickled cucumber, cooked duck soup with glass noodle & duck blood, and shanghai potsticker. Of course the Shanghai pan fried pork bun was really good. Everything was good except for cooked duck soup with glass noodle & duck blood because ended up not liking the soup's flavor or the blood. The cucumber was refreshing to the other salty dishes.
I had an amazing experience at this dim sum restaurant! The flavors were incredible—each piece of dim sum was a little morsel of joy that truly highlights the skill of the chefs. The stir-fried dishes were top-notch, with vibrant vegetables and perfectly cooked ingredients that brought everything to life. What really stood out was how clean and well-maintained the restaurant was; it felt really inviting and comfortable. If you’re craving some fantastic dim sum in a pleasant setting, this place is definitely worth a visit!
西關明記腸粉 Mingkee Newark
Good taste of the rice noodle roll, unbelievably just a young and good- looking boy makes it, that is awesome. The young waiter servers in patience and pro as well. Highly recommended this store.
Nice brunch after rain at Ming Kee. With Zha Liang 炸两, porridge, fish ball and braised chicken wing. Yummy! 🥂will definitely be back. Btw they have another outlet at Cupertino as well for those in San Jose instead of Fremont. Their food is not oily or salty at all.
Ace King Bbq
Lol sooo like I didn't speak their language and I was so disappointed in myself when they were talking to me. My friend stepped in and did the talking lol. But overall, the food was delicious hehe. Placing order online was easy and adding on made it simple with ease. We didn't get much but it was my first time at a place like this and I loved it. Ahhhh!!! 🫣
Absolutely love ACE KING BBQ! The food is consistently delicious, with a wide range of options that are all cooked to perfection. The service is top-notch, with attentive staff who provide excellent service and make you feel welcome. The dishes come out quickly, so you never have to wait long to start enjoying your meal. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for both lunch and dinner. If you’re in the Newark area, you must try ACE KING BBQ!
B K's Bistro
The house special braised beef is overpriced. It’s made with tomato and some kind of soy paste, which is not what I expected. The portion is small compared to the other dishes. We love the stir fry noodles. It’s the best part of this meal. Our biggest complaint is that they didn’t turn AC on in the warm afternoon. It was too hot and we were sweating while we ate.
One of our go to places for dim sum. There aren’t any carts going around as the dim sum isn’t cooked until you place your order with the server. You do have to wait at least a few minutes for your dishes to arrive so don’t come here if you’re starving. When the dim sum does arrive, you can taste the freshness!
BBQ 85
This place is truly a hidden gem, perfectly catering to the late-night cravings of those in the Tri-Valley area. Their specialty is freshly grilled skewers, offering a wide variety of options, from meats and seafood to vegetables—everything you can imagine. It’s easy to get carried away and order more than you intended! The staff is incredibly friendly, and the service is impressively quick. This is undoubtedly a five-star spot worth recommending to anyone.
When we went at 12 pm, the store was completely empty, which was surprising. The service was pretty fast and the owners were polite. The food was also solid. The lamb skewers, cucumber salad, and dumplings were very delicious. The oyster and scallops were okay. They have a large TV playing Chinese music which took some getting used to, but the environment is overall quite nice! It's a very Chinese place and pretty good!
Tai Pan Dim Sum
Delicious dim sum for to-go only. As an old customer, I really hope they could raise the price. You feel like it’s year 2017 here. I recommend any steam cooked dim sum, two BBQ bento box ( upgrade to Fried rice noodles, trust me, worth it). And yes, they accept credit cards!
I used to love eating here. Unfortunately now they give you very little and the cost has gone up. The food is still delicious but the amount and price are imbalanced. I recommend going someplace else where the price and amount is fair. Plenty of Chinese options with cheaper prices for the food you are given.
88 BaoBao
We’ve been to many dumplings restaurants. This one has been consistent in good quality and service. We’ve come here for many years and I haven’t written a review for them. My favorite is the beef noodle soup and beef roll. Their handmade noodles are so chewy and the beef is so tender. Soup is just right, not too salty or spicy. Soup dumplings and other dumplings are also fresh and delicious. Their price is still reasonable. Definitely recommend for any soup dumplings lovers.
A hidden gem, that gives “hole in the wall” vibes (which are usually the best!). We are not from the area but this restaurant came highly recommended. The staff was amazingly wonderful! So friendly and kindhearted. They made us feel right at home. The food was so good! We ordered: Vermicelli Chow Main/Noodles (added Chicken), Fried Rice, Fried Rolls, Dumplings and Orange Chicken. Everything was so, so delicious! Portions are large and plenty too. We would definitely return if we are in the area again.
Fortune Cookie Chinese Food
It wasn’t first time ordering here and Yelp showed good reviews especially for their walnut shrimp and house fried rice special. They are located walking distance from me so I decided to give them a try. I called to place the order before picking up and had a couple of questions about the meals and how they come etc. again I have never been here I’m going off the information I can find on Yelp. I’m not sure who I spoke to but they said “ it should not take you 5 minutes to place an order” then -click- they hung up on my face. That should have been my sign not to pick up my order but I walked several blocks to pick up the most foul Chinese food I’ve had in recent years. The shrimp was far from fresh, it tasted and smelled fishy. The house rice also had the shrimp in it so it made it hard to eat because that also smelled and tasted fishy. The beef in the rice was decent but please save your money. I had to throw away $30+ worth of food. I would rather find a Panda Express. On a lighter note the boba shop this is connected to is so cute and the drinks are so good. I’d highly recommend them. I gave them two stars for the tea shop, I discovered it because of their food.
We recently relocated last May to Fremont and happened to come across this whole in the wall Chinese restaurant about 3 months ago and we loved it. We tried another Chinese restaurant in Fremont awhile back and we were not impressed. Today my husband suggested we get Chinese food and we headed on over. OMG this little hidden gem is worth every penny because their food is fresh, VERY DELICIOUS and affordable. I also want to add that the portions are big!!! Love love love this yummyness 🤤😋
Chuan Xiang Spicy Cuisine 川湘阁
Chuan Xiang Spicy Cuisine is a fantastic spot for authentic, flavorful Sichuan dishes! The spice levels are perfect, and every dish is fresh and delicious. The service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is cozy. If you love bold flavors and great food, this place is a must-try!
New years meal at a newly discovered Chinese place! Food was great along with a nice atmosphere. I’ll be coming back!
Oyama BBQ
This place was great! We got a little carried away with ordering for two but the food was tasty and it was fun! Update: 1.Suggest ordering in batches so the food is fresher as you're eating. 2.The pickled cucumbers are so good, and goes well with the skewers.
The amount of food was getting smaller and smaller, and they said it was normal. The barbecue was getting smellier and smellier, and the hygiene was not done well. The waitress with a hat and braids was very fierce. She treated customers very casually and talked to her as if she owed him money. I said I would report it to the boss, but he said I couldn't contact the boss. In the end, he even wanted to secretly keep the receipt and didn't give it to me. I said I had to give the receipt before he gave it to me. I used to give the maximum tip when I came here, but this time I was very angry and didn't give any tip. This place is going to fail, so let it go. In addition, many of my friends also said that this waiter was very fierce to the customer, as if she was our customer, and almost got into a fight with my friend last time.
Grand Cafe
I have tried many Chinese restaurants in the area, but this is my first time having lunch at Grand Cafe. They were pretty busy when I was there at lunchtime on Sunday, but I got a table with just a few minutes of wait. The restaurant has a nice dining room and attentive staff. The food is delicious and does not contain too much oil. The prices are reasonable. I’m happy to find one more restaurant that I like in the area.
I recently visited Grand Cafe with my mom, and we will definitely be back with the rest of the family and will invite friends here as well. The food here is delicious and the portion sizes are generous, making it perfect for sharing. While it may be a bit pricey for two people, you will probably get more value with a bigger group of people, especially since Chinese food is typically served family-style. You can taste the freshness in each dish, which makes the experience even better. We ordered the pork ribs in Peking sauce, rice noodle roll with shrimp, combination platter of duck and pork belly, and wonton noodle soup (forgot to snap a picture of this one, oopsies!). The service was top-notch! The staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. They were conversational and checked in regularly to ensure we were enjoying both our food and our time there. In terms of cleanliness, the tableware were mostly clean. I don’t usually have high expectations at Chinese restaurants. The chopsticks provided were single-use wooden ones, so no concerns there. The interior and the tabletops were clean. At the end of the meal, the staff even helped us pack up our leftovers, which was a thoughtful gesture. Overall, Grand Cafe is a fantastic spot for a satisfying meal. The combination of delicious food, generous portions, and attentive service makes it a great choice for a family-style dining experience. Highly recommend!
China Village
Super disappointed. We love to come here for the Sichuan crab, but it was so dry and either overcooked or cooked from frozen that the meat stuck entirely to the shell. We had to scrape small bits of crab meat from the cracked bits of shell with our finger nails. I felt like a cave man. To add insult to injury, the only thing we could actually fill up on was stiff old rice that we had to pay extra for. I used to love this spot and recommended it often. Not after tonight.
The food here is excellent and the fish soup in particular, unfortunately, the servers are mostly fairly rude, making the experience less pleasant. One time while they were cleaning up one of the tables one of them tossed some of the dishes into a bowl of soup that was on their cart, splashing it all over me and our food, and the woman who did it just looked over and shrugged. We weren’t going to eat our food after having somebody else’s food, splash all over it and us, so we just got up to leave, and the people tried to insist that we pay! The owner Waved at the people at the counter, indicating not to charge me, but the whole thing was ridiculous. I still go there sometimes, but not nearly as often as I used to.
