Square red date dumplings
The Dragon Boat Festival is coming, and the teacher of a friend's child left an interesting homework for the children, asking them to make a square zongzi according to the video. It's interesting to watch, so I'll just record the process. Very fulfilling.

Ingredients
Cooking Instructions
-
Prepare the dumpling leaves
-
Soak the dumpling leaves in boiling water for 10 minutes until they are soft and easy to weave. Each dumpling leaf is split from the middle into two. (A square zongzi should use 6 zongzi leaves, and 12 pieces are split into them)
-
The four dumpling leaves are arranged as pictured
-
Weave 6 dumpling leaves in the middle
-
Add an extension on each side
-
Then go through it like this
-
Form a circle
-
Cut off the excess with scissors
-
The bottom is braided like this, and the four zongzi leaves are forked into the side separately (forgot to take pictures)
-
The bottom is braided, and that's it
-
Fill the soaked glutinous rice and red dates (put glutinous rice at the bottom, put a red date in the middle, and spread a layer of glutinous rice on top)
-
The top is also the same as the bottom braiding. Then fork these four dumpling leaves into the side
-
Fork the four leaves in step 12 into the side. (I forgot to take a picture, so I made one out of paper.) ï¼
-
Cut off the excess leaves and weave one.
-
It's very easy to compile, a total of 9 of them. This year's Dragon Boat Festival will eat square zongzi. If you are interested, you can practice it.
-
Finally, put it in a pot and simmer for an hour. Because the zongzi are not big, they are cooked in an hour.
-
You can practice knitting one with paper first. The paper is soft and easy to weave.
