Update Review. Did take out of Large Roast Pork Fried Rice last night. Ordered extra veggies ($1.50 extra). This was by far the worst Fried Rice I’ve ever eaten. The rice kernels were so dried out many of them were crispy. The rice was fried with so much soy sauce the whole dish was dark brown (very unappealing). See the picture. The extra veggies were good, except if I hadn’t ordered them, there would have been nearly nothing. There was no fried egg in the rice. Lastly, the pieces of pork were so small you could hardly see them, let alone taste them. (See the size of the pieces at the top of the plate in the picture!). I consider this really a waste of $10.75 (+ tax). I do intend to speak to the owner as I’m super disappointed. It was *Cash Only so be prepared* it’s a small family owned place. Deal with it complainers! Ordered the large shrimp in lobster sauce with extra snow peas and mushrooms, also chicken with vegetables with extra snow peas. Total with tax was $26 and it was very good. 9 large shrimp in the lobster sauce made to order. Chicken with tons of veggies in a brown sauce. Generous portions and fresh veggies. Very good value. Needs a little more seasoning for my tastes but for Wautoma this is a great find! Bravo! For people complaining about having to wait, please call your order in ahead of time. This is 99% carry out and on tourist weekends, they get very busy. As one reviewer complained, the restaurant was empty. Well duh there are two chairs and two tables.
Stopped in for a late lunch Saturday. I had the Kung pow chicken and my friend had the orange chicken each came with a side of rice. We decided to eat on site inside the restaurant. Overall, the staff was polite and helpful. I did not really enjoy the compound chicken probably not order it again. I should’ve tried the friends orange chickenoverall will probably try one more time and do a takeout pick up
Mainbao Chinese Restaurant
I came here because another review said the egg rolls were great. 🙄 The egg rolls were starchy, not fried enough and didn't have any unique quality to them. They were fine but not great. Not even average. They were also on the small side. Not enough filling. What WAS fantastic was the Singapore Mai Fun (thin Rice Noodles). Well seasoned, not too spicy, the shrimp had a nice bouncy feel and are a nice size at about an inch in diameter. All the meat, including the pork, which can occasionally be like jerky, was nice and soft. If you like food that tastes curryish this is a must.
I really enjoy their food. Its your typical chinese takeaway but that's not a bad thing! Also lots of veggies which is something I appreciate. The woman who serves me is always friendly and smiling. Highly recommend the mongolian beef, the shrimp and pork hunan, and house pan fried noodles.
