New China Cook Restaurant
Loved the soft music in the background. Very pretty decor and clean on the inside. Great selection of hot and cold food. Very friendly staff! Plates were taken off our table promptly. They brought us our recept before being asked, which I loved. Lovely place to eat!
The food was good. It was hot and plenty. So many choices of Chinese viddles. The waitresses was absolutely amazing. Best service to be had in the county. We will go back when passing through.
China Buffet
It’s your standard Chinese-American buffet. I wish they had more “Asian” style cuisine than American. People’s tastes are more refined nowadays and I think adding more Chinese recipes would help a lot. No soy sauce or chopsticks at the table which was kind of disappointing. I will say the curry chicken was my favorite. Not spicy, just a tiny kick. Service was great. Our waitress was attentive with drinks although it was busy.
Food/Taste/Flavor: 4/5 - buffet with the typical Chinese American food. Lots of items with mayonnaise, heavy sauces, and/or fried so it is a bit harder to find cleaner items. Overall, the food was flavorful and great in texture with enough options for us to happily fill our to-go boxes. Service: 5/5 - friendly and helpful with all of our questions. Very quick service but slight language barrier Ambiance: n/a - packed a to-go box but all the food displays were tidy Value for price: 5/5 - $5.49/lb for lunch and $6.38/lb for dinner. Great price, decent food, and lots of variety overall.
China One
Was This Place a Secret? I must have driven past China One hundreds—if not a thousand—times and never stopped. As a loyal customer of another Chinese takeout spot in town, I never had a reason to. But tonight, after a quick trip to Lowe’s (because somehow, I always need something from Lowe’s), their menu caught my eye. At first glance, they have all the usual American Chinese favorites, but then I spotted a few dishes I’d never seen before—General Tao’s Shrimp? Double Cooked Pork? And they let you swap lo mein for rice with the dinner specials? Now we’re talking. If you looked up “hole in the wall” in the dictionary, you’d probably see a picture of China One. From the outside, you’d never guess that behind the simple storefront is a surprisingly spacious, brightly lit dining area with just a few tables pushed up against the walls. When I walked in about 30 minutes before closing, all three staff members greeted me like I was a regular. I ordered, and 15 minutes later, I was heading out the door with a piping-hot bag of food. Now, onto the good stuff. The shrimp egg roll? Easily the best-prepared one I’ve had in Charleston in a long time. Not the best ever, but definitely what I’ve been missing. But the real star? The steamed dumplings. These things seem made in-house—juicy pork wrapped in a thick, chewy dumpling skin that’s got a nice bounce to it. Delicate? No. Delicious? Absolutely. And they are filling. For my entrée, I went all in and ordered the Dragon and Phoenix (which, honestly, sounds like a slot machine). It’s half General Tso’s Chicken, half Hot and Spicy Shrimp. I subbed in Orange Chicken for the General Tso’s, and it did not disappoint. The shrimp were big and had just a mild kick, while the orange chicken was saucy, crispy, and perfect over rice. I’ll definitely be back. And if you’ve been missing Corina from that other place that’s gone downhill, you might want to give China One a shot.
I really love the people here, they understood I made a mistake upon ordering and were able to deliver regardless. I just hope I don't make that same mistake again- This is super recommended and I really love to have their Shrimp Egg Foo Young the most, comfort food for me admittedly. I just wish I can support them more.
Fortune Pavilion
I frequently make this the last stop on my way out of town and forego other restaurants. It's always super fresh, hot and tasty I am from NYC and find it very good Chinese takeout. It's only run by a nice couple and don't expect a restaurant experience but there is a table to sit and eat if you didn't want to take it out right away. It's a typical Chinese takeout done very well with care about their quality and skill. The value is outstanding and I highly recommend it. My favorite so far.
We have ordered from Fortune Pavilion many times. It’s a mom and pop restaurant with usually just two people working. Food is cooked fresh to order and is really consistent. The flavors are a little different from what I usually receive from other places. For example the crispy chicken is more spicy and less sweet. There is no inside dinning.
Elkview | Chinese Restaurant
Owned by THE BEST family! The Elkview Chinese Restaurant has excellent food- always hot and fresh! DELICIOUS! The staff is so friendly and kind. We have never had a bad experience with our meal or customer care! You never have to wait long for your order and it’s a convenient location- plenty of space to park when picking up your food. We LOVE this place and the owners, too! There’s not a better place for Chinese take out than the Elkview Chinese Restaurant!!
Very good food. I go there often. sweet & sour chicken is the best. And somehow they make their white rice taste great
Jing Chen Chen's Garden
Still doing take out only, one of the consistently best Chinese food places I've eaten from. Friendly and a full menu I regularly enjoy their steamed dumplings, hot & sour soup, and kung pow chicken. Their lo mein are also excellent.
amazing family , well taken care of , well portioned. Go to the man Elvis , he will take care of you. Amazing fried shrimp
Great Chinese Buffet
I wish I could give ZERO stars. The manager seems to think it's okay NOT TO stir the nasty, old food on the buffet, and yell at customers if they get the part of the meal they'd ACTUALLY enjoy and then talk behind the customers back to other members of the party without owning up to their Disrepect of those PAYING for their "food." Go to happy garden
The service in atmosphere was absolutely amazing the food it was OK. My two children and myself all developed food poisoning from something at the restaurant.
China Wok
This was our 1st time visiting here and it will not be our last. The portions are huge, food was nice & fresh and the egg roll is the best I've had in a really long time. I most definitely recommend!
Not the worst… far from the best… maybe ordered too late (8pm) first and unfortunately last time ordering… I didn’t like the texture of the chicken( general tso) … lo mein noodles were good… hunan chicken was pretty much all vegetables…
Bridgelin Chinese Restaurant
This was always one of my favorite places for Chinese food. Until last night. We ordered several of our favorite dishes for delivery. I don't know if they got a new cook or what, but it was not as good as previously. We were very disappointed. And it was all of it that was bad, not just one dish.
My daughter and I were craving Chinese tonight! From customer service to the quality food we received, we will definitely be back! The food was hot, fresh, and tasted so good!
Super Buffet
At one time, I ate lunch here each time I was in Elkins. It has steadily gone down hill. Today was my last visit. The server was not rude, just not interested in us. The pictures will show that we were there. Nobody else was. The food looked like it had been sitting for a while. It was about room temperature. I was not impressed at all. The bill for 2 lunches and 2 drinks was 13.89. Disappointed, for sure. I gave 2 stars, because the place is clean.
So good!! The servers were nice and helpful, the food was delicious and warm, and it is so clean! I recommend the sautéed potatoes and the chicken (coming from a person who is very picky about chicken and meats). I’ll be honest, it looked pretty sketchy from the outside, but it’s beautiful and large on the inside.
China One
They are always friendly and have remembered what we order over the years from our address. The food is the best in town and I am so glad they still do traditional delivery. I feel more inclined to give a bigger tip. Thank you for being as speedy and special for the community!
I’ve eaten this restaurant’s food a few times the last couple of years. It was a good quality, great service place; it no longer is. Based on previous experience, I did a large order. Five large pork fried rice, crispy shrimp with salt and pepper, and Malaysian red curry with shrimp. The pork fried rice tastes off, there’s just something wrong about it. The pork is not the same as before, much lower quality. This was our favorite place to get this dish. The crispy shrimp was disgusting. Battered with the shell still on it and around 1/4 of the large shrimp not deveined. Way overcooked, think shrimp jerky. Ate it by picking the coating and shell off, nasty greasy mess. Malaysian red curry was the best dish, it only suffered by having an extreme variety of cuts used on the carrots. Thus difference led to some being cooked sufficiently and some being too thick to cook enough. Another layer needed peeled off the onion and it not used, that outer layer wasn’t an appealing addition to the meal.
China One
Top Tier chinese! Ordered cream cheese wontons, vegetables with rice, Schezhan chicken with vegetables, general tso chicken with ham fried rice, and hot n sour soup. Everything tasted amazing and didn’t upset my stomach at all which is common for me when I eat chinese. I felt great after eating it. Flavors were true to recipe. Wouldn’t have changed a thing. The veggie dishes are amazing. They use 10 different veggies in it and i’m obsessed. First time trying it and will be back. It’s in an old Wendy’s building and doesn’t look like much but the food is a must try if you are in the area. Prices are also affordable. Service is good. Exactly as expected. Might become a regular!
We are regulars, my family and I, have been loyal delivery/take out customers since 2016. 8 years. With only a handful of minor issues. The food is always fresh and delicious, and normally we get hooked up, because we are regulars. However, tonight included, the handful of times where we have had issues, and complained, we are meet with so much hostility, and rudeness. We are treated like it's our faults or food is over cooked, or not made the way we ordered. Tonight, I ordered, for the first time from this establishment, the Mongolian Beef for 12.99. This is what I got (refer to picture) and I'm disinclined to call them back because I know I will be greeted with anger, and defiance, and at the end of it all, will be denied them picking the order back up and refunding it. They refuse, everytime. Other than that, I do recommend if you're a fan of the more regular Chinese/American cuisine.
